We have been visiting Unique Pastry for several years. Things can be a bit hit or miss, and to be honest, the people behind the counter are generally not friendly at all. But the items can be delicious if they are fresh. We don't live in the neighborhood, but we do get to the area on occasion for various appointments. When we do, there are often Too Good To Go surprise bags available. If there are, we will often pick one up. I mean, who doesn't love a fun surprise?!? This place is generous and full of variety. Even for those who do not do sugar. The custard pastries were not my favorite. I think the custard and maybe the cake part were old as well as the fruit on them. The chocolate cookies are jam filled and chocolate glazed, were close to a three maybe four on five. The observe, all the holidays and close early for Shabbat. The Barakkas are 4 stars all the way, could use a bit more filling but still delicious. The raspberry danish looks good. Unique Pastry has 1980s old school vibes, in combo with this entire large strip mall. Next to a local dive bar, it's sort of...perfect. The woman was pleasant but not super smiley. Nice enough to get the job done. Has Euro vibes. The cream filled pastries were absolutely stunning. No surprises here, just a lovely vanilla custard, sugar powdered delight. The chocolate topped small sugar cookies had a hint of savory to them. Not the usual sugar cookie variety, but well made nonetheless. The real star here is the freshly baked bread. Thinly sliced and ready for the most delicious sandwich. Soft and sturdy, we also keep some in the freezer in case we can't make it back before we run out. I discovered Unique Pastry through the "too good to go " app. I had no idea that this bakery was tucked away in the middle of strip mall that I pass by all the time. All things being equal I would probably prefer Bea's bakery which is close by, however, the too good to go app makes it one of the best values going. For those that don't know, the too good to go app takes unsold food and sells "surprise bags" at a substantial discount. I have found that if I order from the Unique Pastry I receive so many items. They usually include some sort of bread, deserts and savory items. It is hit and miss, the cupcakes were not my cup of tea, but everything else was pretty good. Inside there are tables, so if you feel like eating there you can. Overall I think Unique Pastry is a nice alternative to Bea's if you don't have the time to wait in a line. read more

When we walked in we already sensed a weird feeling. The lady asked us "What do you want?" like first of all that's not a nice way to approach. Secondly, we were getting our pastries and the lady putting pastries in the bag was tossing them in there a little aggressive and then basically threw the bag at us on the counter. It was also super hot inside, isn't that some kind of violation? The woman, with short black hair, was rude, rude, rude. I'm sorry if you don't like your job, nor people, but that is not our fault (there were 3 of us). For the food: ordered custard filled donut, which is normally something that I love but the dough wasn't fully cooked. The lemon dessert was good, not great. Frankly, the expensive prices don't match the flavor nor service. One thing that really made me angry is that is was so hot inside that we needed water but they wanted us to pay for it. Disappointed and not what I ordered I ordered an all-black glitter cake for my birthday specifically to do a TikTok trend. Instead, I received a plain black cake with no glitter at all. I even brought my own edible glitter to the store, but they assured me they already had it covered -- clearly, they didn't. I used to love this place...especially during Hannukah because they have the best Sufganiyot in the city, but unfortunately they are not what they used to be this year. Every single time I have purchased donuts form them, they have not been fresh and they are half the size that they normally used to be. At $5 per donut, I expect better! Not only that, they are notorious for overcharging. Each time they change the price of their donuts. Today I asked for 5 donuts, the lady said she would give me four EXTRA because they were so small (I think she was just trying to get rid of the old donuts). She ended up charge me $40!!!! It always smells like fresh challah. I love going there and getting bread. They have very good donuts as well. I get them for chanukah all the time. This place is ridiculous. I ordered Israeli salad for $18.99 and added tuna, avocado and hard boiled egg. I purchased a few more items and gave them my CC. I received a receipt of my total only without any breakdown. I asked to see a breakdown of the cost. They gave me a receipt with the breakdown. I was charged $17.99 for Israeli salad (literally just cucumber and tomato) $2 for 1 egg. $7.50 for one scoop of tuna $2 for half avocado I also purchased bourekas which I didn't receive. We were told this is be of the better Kosher's bakery's in town. While items looked good. Service is fair. We did try sone rugahla chocolate and apricot and a raspberry. All left a chemical after taste. They had several large items that looked good but after tasting the smaller items I was not ready to try other items. We had ordered a few items over the phone for some friends by the time we got home we found we were not given the correct items. Cute little Kosher bakery hidden inside the Tarzana Square on Ventura Blvd. They are a kosher bakery and have no dairy in their products. I love getting their breads here and on my most recent visit for a Rye Bread which they will slice for you if you ask. My favorite is their Hamantaschen. They are $4 each but a pretty decent size and they have two or three different flavors. The staff was very friendly and had a lot of different cakes out for purchase as well. read more

This place is a surprising discovery in my neck of the woods. I have a friend who keeps kosher. She wanted to meet up for brunch, somewhere that would meet her dietary restrictions. I knew there was a bakery in that space, but I never knew that it was also a cafe. We met here today and I am pleased that we came here. It's located in a strip mall where parking is easy and plentiful. We met up and were seated immediately. I ordered the Lox and Caper Omelette (egg whites only) with a side of hash browns and Israeli salad. My friend got the Three Eggs Any Style (3 eggs over easy with a side of hash browns and Israeli salad). In addition, they gave us a generous bread basket with plenty of butter and jam. My omelette was very good and I loved the fact that they accommodated my substitutions. My friend loved her meal! She ate all of it with relish as did I. The ingredients tasted fresh and you can tell some love went into making it. Our server was also pleasantly attentive. The bill was a bit pricey, it came out to about $51 with tip. However, the meal was fresh, satisfying, kosher and I had plenty leftover that I brought home. If you're looking for a satisfying meal, and you keep kosher then I'd recommend checking this place out. read more
