Finally tried this place out. It's connected to a deli so you can go get some meats and pastries all in one trip. My nieces tried the sprinkled cookies and loved them. They were gone before we got home. The eclair and cream puff were great. I would like some names just because there's so many things and you have no idea what most of them are and there's so many people so you feel rushed. We also got some danishes, delicious. I got a stick looking thing with chocolate and butterscotch. It was the only thing we didn't like. Overall will return soon. read more

I'm devastated. I drove all the way to Bea's Bakery for the delicious pastries I grew up with. Yesterday, I bought Mandela bread with walnuts and cinnamon danishes. On the drive home, I tasted the mandel bread and it was incredibly salty and not sweet at all. It was as if they mistook salt for sugar. I'm too far away to go back and return it, so I threw them away. Today I tasted the cinnamon danish. It was delicious until I got a few bites in where I found RAW DOUGH. Tasted awful. I live in the Bay Area and every time I travel to LA this bakery is a must stop. Their cookies by the pound are delicious and a must have. I specially like the wedding cookies which bring back a lot of childhood memories. The last time I came in my server was Danni and she was incredibly kind and made sure my cookies were very well arranged to survive the long trip into the Bay. She also recommended their challah bread as a road trip snack and I was glad I listened to her. For years this was our favorite bakery. Award winning black and white cookies, delicious subtle tasting almond cookie with creamy chocolate center on top. Service was wonderful, bakery items divine. Clark Street itself is dirty and disgusting but once inside Bea's it always felt like home away from home. Hadn't been there in awhile. Heard that they have a new partner. Don't know if that had anything to do with the way things tasted today. There was no one in the bakery which was shocking. I tasted the almond cookie and the marzipan cookies. The texture was completely different on both of them. The marzipan cookie was so over sweet I could not eat it. The almond cookie had the tiniest chocolate dot and the taste and texture were both off-putting. As for my favorite black And white cookies. The server smashed paper onto the icing before putting it in a plastic bag. These were always given in a box. Not a clear plastic bag. Presentation was below 0. The icing peeled off with the paper. The cookie was sickeningly sweet. The cake-like light cookie was flat as a pancake instead of puffy. It was not edible. Bea's was always bustling with customers . Now it was an empty space devoid of everyone that would welcome you and missing everything that was so delicious . Fantastic stop for fresh baked bakery! Local favorite. Ambiance: No bells and whistles...but oh boy, who cares about bells and whistles when you walk into a room with glass display pieces full of wonderful baked goods! Service: Lots of teenagers work here and they are excellent! I always remember to tip after an order....hint hint.. Food: FANTASTIC RUGULAH! I usually get a large box mixed. The black and white cookie is a must as well. To be honest, it's hard to go wrong...order anything - you'll enjoy it. We ordered a cake as well and it was pretty darn good. I'm extremely upset to leave a bad review!! Horrible customer service!! Disgusted. There's no sign saying call in orders wait here, when you walk through the front door it says pick a number!!! everybody's waiting it's a holiday weekend and we're patiently waiting and one of the workers ( I wish I knew her name becuz if I describe her it will get ugly we can't say race anymore without everyone getting ugly) calls out NEXT not the number or not are there any call in orders just next! When a few people say what happened to the number system? she lies ( owners watch the camera recording) when some of us call her out for it she denies it, she never acknowledges her part or took responsibility for her poor behavior! Then she's complaining to a man and when I say she's wrong just own it & apologize for jumping over people. I stopped at Bea's on my way to the Tarzana hospital, and boy was I completely surprised by how delicious their chocolate danish is. It tastes like one big rugelach loaded with several layers of yummy soft bread and chocolate. After a long day at the hospital, I devoured every bit of that danish. I'm sad to report that the reports are true. The once beloved Bea's is no longer the go to for regulah and babka. I went yesterday about noon and bought two pounds of mixed rugulach. They were much smaller than the usual, especially the chocolate. And they were clearly not fresh. Same with bubka and I even asked if it was day old cause the frosting looked dry. I was assured that it was same day. Finally there were only 6 pre sliced pieces of cheese strudel. Everything was dry and flavorless and not at all like the fresh delicious pastries that were such a treat to eat and proudly serve. It makes me so sad. Bea's was my favorite bakery. There are gluten free items here now. I believe it's something they began making somewhat recently. The reason I say this is my husband and I were recommended to this bakery when we first moved to this area several years ago now. When I saw the things they had in the cases and they didn't sell any gluten free products, I had to stay outside the bakery when my husband bought himself something. They were beautiful. The breads, the pastries, but nothing gluten free. I couldn't bear looking at the cases! However, there is a happy ending to this post. In large form, they make confetti rainbow sprinkled, small rainbow sprinkled, all black frosting, all white frosting, and the aforementioned Black and White. A friend recommended this bakery as I was looking for an old school bakery like when I was growing up. I didn't want a grocery store bakery. It's a little confusing in there. Not really a line...kind of a line. Sometimes they use the "take a number system". I was picking up a preordered cake and saw a lady near the register that was done helping a customer. Bea's is a local Jewish bakery with quality breads, cakes and other pastries. They have a great selection, something for everyone to enjoy. All their items are fresh and baked each day. My favorite are the delcos (mini danish) that come in 4 flavors: apricot, strawberry, poppyseed and cheese. You can have your loaf of bread sliced thin or regular and get a whole cake or individual slices. They price their items according to weight and all prices are super inexpensive. I bought 2 onion rolls (which are delicious toasted), an entire seeded kümmel (rye) bread sliced, 1/4pb of the danish and 1/2pb of cookies all for just $16! Yummy bakery items! I drive out of my way to come here for custom birthday cakes because they look and taste so good. My favorite cakes purchased here were a Cookie Monster and a drum cake that I asked them to make from pictures gathered from Pinterest. I wanted specific flavors of chocolate with fudge filling for Cookie Monster and a yellow cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting in the shape of a drum. I added my own toppers. Both cakes came out perfect in looks but far more impressive was that they were the best cakes I had ever had. Plus the prices they charge are super reasonable. Amazing! I absolutely love this place. We make sure to make the trip down to the valley at least once a month for my addiction. I grew up in New York the Bronx to be specific and good bakeries are easy to find. Not so in California. I am never disappointed. The only problem is making the stuff last long enough until I go back. Oh and the perk is there is a great deli attached!!! Bea's used to be the best bakery around. Unfortunately they sold to some investors who obviously bought it strictly for business, not for passion. They quickly turned things around or better yet, upside down. The birthday cakes look pathetic and plain, the quality and taste is gone. The cakes are dry, they don't use the buttercream, and they changed the style of what Bea's was. Why buy a bakery like Bea's and change it up? Makes no sense whatsoever! Just start a new bakery. The food in both places are mediocre, but I'm hoping the reason Morts and Beas look so sad and dilapidated is because a big renovation is coming up. Both places look so dirty and rundown. You would think with a brand new hospital down the street that a deli and a bakery, would put their best foot forward and spruce their place up to look more like Lovi's in Calabasas. Consistent well made baked goods. The rugula is delicious. My favorite thing here! They offer a large selection of fresh baked breads, cakes and cookies. Cookies are sold by the pound. I highly recommend anything here since I never have been disappointed. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The entrance is on Clark Street. Parking in the Vons shopping center or street. My grandmother would take me here and I am over 60. LOVE everything cookies are the best I got some for my BF and he flipped now he wants to go back every week,,, But love that you can buy a small rye for a good price and with only 2 it works great for us..
