Sure, it's a bit expensive because it's small, but so is any convenience store, and they are open late and stock igh end products, fresh produce, local grab and go, vegan and gluten free options and such a great beer selection. They have a little bit of everything here. Been frequenting this local shop since I was a kid, and it's just as good as ever, though, I'm pretty sure they used to have a soft-serve machine...or maybe I made that up. Nice veggies, meats, frozen and pantry. They have a very good selection of beverages (alcohol and soft), and have a great cold section. They also have a nice little display for fresh pastas and ready to heat or cook-type foods in what I would call the deli case. Flowers are always pretty, so if you need a quick gift--the combo of the Arrangement (across the street) and this place is a must. At the front, a very cute selection of local breads and desserts. And always pick up a wax paper caramel or other on your way out for a delightful treat on your way home. read more

They have always been there when I need them the most. Much deserved lift in Yelp rating. The only thing I say, I wish they still carried propane exchange and got rid of the bottle/can recycle. Every neighborhood should have a market like Beaumont Market! Are you listening Riverplace Marina? We desperately need a small neighborhood grocery store like this! Beautiful organic veggies and fruit, baked goods, standard dairy, frozen food and pantry items plus a small bulk food area! Great selection of wine, beer and hard cider. Greeting cards and even some gifts and seasonal decor. This is not a market for doing your bulk shopping; it is the place you come to a few times a week to pick up a few items when you run out. Need eggs? Milk? A bottle of wine for dinner? Fresh baguette? They have it. So many times I am about to cook a meal and realize I am missing an ingredient. When I lived in NE, I could walk to a market. Now I have to get in my car and drive to the UnSafeway on SW Jefferson or drive miles to another supermarket. For a city that is filled with neighborhoods and getting denser by the day, why aren't neighborhood markets included with the City planning? It's a big miss. read more

I wanted to spotlight this cute little market/grocery store that is on Alberta, and has a lot of local brands that they support. Although the square footage is small, they manage to offer a wide variety of items, and I frequently see many local brands offered here too. This place is so good I almost moved back to Portland. It's like the boutique, organic grocery/convenience store you'd find in a touristy ski town...with none of the negatives: aisles sprawling with looky-loos and jacked prices. They've got an incredible beer selection here. They've got an incredible variety of unique things to eat. They are open late. Ok, so the prices aren't exactly "cheap". You wouldn't want to make this your main grocery store. But for a quick in-and-out spot, they are above average. read more

Nice little market with a very good beer selection. I particularly like the variety of sodas in the cooler. And check out the the yummy selection of baked goods by the registers. I realize this isn't Safeway or TJs, but prices are VERY steep for comparable items, but I know I'm paying for local convenience. Employees are usually very friendly and helpful. Never go in. Dangerous place to shop at, food is moldy and stored improperly, clutter everywhere so looks awful. One of the employees tried to swing at me and the manager cursed me out when I said i was going to call the cops on them. I ended up leaving. Support your local store! This may not be the best place to go with a long grocery list, but it is a great place to get those last minute in and out type items. They have a huge beer selection as well, again not a place to stock up as the prices are somewhat high, but a great place to pick up a beer you might not have tried yet. I have been getting used to my new neighborhood. I used to live down in Buckman and that area of Portland was totally different than up here. Different vibe, different attitude. I love the stretch of Fremont and all the little local shops and places to eat. It's also nice to have a small food market and not a big chain up here as well. Beaumont is a great little place to grab those quick items. Instead of ten of one item, they with only have two or three. They have a small but nice selection of fresh produce, fresh flowers and all the usual accouterments. Friendly staff and even local made caramels and some cookies. Beaumont is one of those throwbacks to a time before supermarkets, and mega supermarkets and big box bulk stores. Every neighborhood needs a place like this. read more

I was surprised the first time I came here years ago. It's such a big selection of groceries and beer. I like the checkers, they are the nicest. Prices are fair also. I love that they are open late and the selection of greeting cards makes this a place to grab what you need last minute. read more

I wish Beaumont Market was South Waterfront Market. By that I mean, I wish this was closer to my neck of the woods! I loved this little market. It's part fancy grocer, part convenient store. It's not necessarily a place you'd do all of your shopping at for the week as the prices on most items are higher, but it's perfect for when you forgot something or need to restock a couple items. Their selection of deli foods is small but attractive, and I'd definitely go here for a quick takeaway lunch. Even their meats were local! This is a pretty nice little neighborhood market, they don't have a lot of stuff here, just the basics. However, the basics that they do have are of great quality. The place is a bit expensive, but they always have good deals on veggies and fruit (usually cheaper than the big supermarkets) though their meats, which are wonderful, are always really expensive. The Beaumont Market has a really nice beer and wine selection, probably the best selection in the neighborhood, and though there is a slight mark-up in price, it isn't much. In the summer it is really nice because they have a self-serve frozen yogurt machine, where you can get a cone for under a buck! read more

Beaumont Market is my friendly neighborhood grocery store. It is an adorable little market that reminds me of the family-owned establishments of days-gone-by. People who enjoy beer and microbrews will love Beaumont Market, as they have an entire temperature controlled room dedicated to all of the various beers and microbrews that one could ever encounter. The wine selection is also quite nice... Produce is fresh and pretty here, they have a wonderful selection of high quality Painted Hills beef, as well as other great meats. The store is like a mini-boutique...with all kinds of candles, soaps, reed diffusers, cards and goodies that us girlies like to browse when doing the weekly grocery shopping. There is also a good selection of gourmet food and chocolates, as well as fresh breads. Everything you could need will be found here....all of your basics, including flour and sugar to good brie, a nice bottle of Syrah, and fresh flowers for the table. Prices are on the moderate side and the folks that work here are super friendly and helpful. This store is quite the treasure... read more

I shopped here a few days ago and was surprised that the man stocking produce did not wear a mask. I felt unsafe and won't be coming back.

We live 2 blocks away from this little gem and come in a couple times a week. We don't do our major shopping here because (as everyone has said) it's a bit pricey. But we do get a treat here and there or grab lunch stuff. They have a small variety of fresh items (sandwiches, pasta, salads) that will suffice when you don't have time to stand in line at Bagel Land. I love that they always bring in interesting stuff...do-dads, knick-knacks, etc. But they also stock unique foods so it's fun to browse the aisles when you have a few minutes. read more

I work right next to Beaumont Market, so I have frequented it for the past 5 years. Aside from the convenient location, I also really appreciate the friendly staff and wide variety of goods. There was a particular energy drink I really liked that they didn't carry. I mentioned it to one of the employees, and two weeks later they had it stocked. Huge plus in my book. The only reason I can't give them a five star rating is that they are a bit pricey. Not that big a deal if you're just getting a few things, but the difference is really noticeable if you're planning on doing a lot of shopping. read more

Well, the first time I walked in this store I was impressed. But then I stopped in on the way to my Doctors Appointment, as I had to fast for 12 hours before hand and had forgotten to bring an energy bar to eat right after the test. So I popped in to buy one, well the two checkers were so busy chatting with each other, I had to wait to ask where the bars were kept. Then when I ate it later, it was stale. The reason for the three stars is that it seems every time I go in there I am confronted with surly, unfriendly, and unhelpful staff that seem to be counting the seconds until they can leave. My wife and I live in the neighborhood and frequent this establishment a few times a week for small items. For the past few years, it has been a staple for us until today. I stopped by for a banana and a beverage. As I approached the check-out I saw a cashier talking to another woman. I did not see the "CLOSED" sign near the register (a felonious offense here) and instead of being directed to the other cashier (who was unpacking a box and looked busy) the wooden "CLOSED" sign was whisked away with a loud thud and I was promptly informed of the nearby "OPEN" cashier with an utterance that was far from friendly. My change was shoved into my hand, the "CLOSED" wooden sign made a dramatic return with an equally loud thump and I was told over the shoulder to "Have a nice day" which quickly translated to "F*%$ Off". I stood for several moments and shared an air of embarrassment with the other employee. It was refreshing; as will the extra 3/4 a mile walk to Safeway next time. read more

If you happen to live in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood, you are lucky. We have so many conveniences within walking distance (and they don't sell slurpees). If you happen to be driving up NE Fremont and forgot your gallon of milk, loaf of bread and stick of butter, stop at this market for sure. Yes, as the first reviewer noted, they are pricey on some items. But they are an independently-owned shop with an amazing variety of items. I would disagree about just the basics. Whatever ingredient you may be missing, they are sure to have it. Flowers for your sweetie? check 6-pack for game night? check capers packed in olive oil? check Indian simmer sauce?check Swiffer refill pack? check You get the point. Right near the check out is the amazing and wonderful nonfat frozen yogurt by-the-pound machine. Vanilla and chocolate swirl.mmmmmm. By the pound! Nonfat! Been a resident in the neighborhood for 14 years and make this my go to spot for wine, beer and their solid selection of fruit and vegetables, but that's where it ends. Outside of produce, they're very expensive and I'm ok, but the cashiers are horrible outside of my sweet lady who works the early shifts. I was in tonight and some mom asked the cashier with long stringy hair if he could suggest a wine for under $10. His response? "I don't know I don't drink red wine"? This is just one example of dozens of times I've been in the store and the cashiers just don't care. I have lived in this neighborhood for 5+ years. I love Beaumont Market for SOOO many reasons - above average products - wine, produce (seasonal berries, avocados, brussel sprouts - for a small store, they do a great job having just what you need!!) They also stock the basics (tea, coffee, milk eggs, etc) and nice cheeses, crackers and fresh bread (from Grand Central!!) for last minute feasts with friends; nice pasta sauces when I wanted to hibernate at home; as well as food for my pets when I was about to run out; and the odd random late night needs for cough syrup, etc. However, if you are expecting neutral or friendly customer service, you have a 50% percent chance of being let down. GO ELSEWHERE. I can't believe how surly and superior some of the staff is. It makes me want to avoid going there. Since they are a local grocery store, but have convenient, graciously long hours on days, weekends and holidays - I am partially glad they are part of the neighborhood as many people need services at odd times. But I dread who will be stocking the shelves or at the register. Half the staff are consistently remote and robotic, yet still somehow judgemental. When Rich and Donna, the previous owners had the store they had a great selection of everyday, tried and true products priced right. The new owners are upscaling the store, swapping out products for higher priced (higher margin) versions. The new staff is less friendly although they're getting better. read more

Been living in NE Portland on and off my whole life (mostly on as an adult). This market used to be pretty cool and I learned to tolerate the alarming prices compared to other nearby stores. Lately, for the past few years, the employees seem like they are offended by anything more than I push money to them and they push back what is left.
