Beautique Salon is the best!!! I had the pleasure of working with Sharelle. She was super nice, knowledgable, and caring. It is hard to find good people that really care and that is what we found! I had a very difficult situation where my daughter had very tangled and matted hair. She had a graduation coming up and wanted to make sure it was taken care of before that. My daughter has mixed curly hair and It was very hard to find someone to help detangle hair. I found myself calling all over I talked to many salons that made me feel unwelcome in asking for help. Not Sharelle, super kind as she picked up the phone and was very sympathetic to our needs. She made last minute accommodations, set excellent expectations, and took on a project that she probably did not need to. It took longer than we hoped and she really showed her commitment and care, staying extra hours to get it done. I would give more stars if possible. She really helped us when we needed it. Sharelle was referred to me by one of my coworkers as I was looking to find someone in the area who had experience with biracial curly hair. From my first visit 1 1/2 years ago until now, Sharelle has always been invested in my hair and it's health. Whenever I wanted to do something wild with my hair (like dye it lavender or pink), she made sure she explained to me the pros and cons and offered suggestions making sure that not only was I happy but that my hair wouldn't become damaged in any way. (She installed a lace front so that I could achieve the color I want without putting so much bleach on my own hair AND give my hair a break from the heat--almost 20 years of straightening). I was happy to let her do what she wanted with my hair because we built enough to trust and she knew what I liked. In one of my last visits, I discussed with her my desire to potentially showcase my natural soft curls but wanting a style that didn't require a lot of maintenance (curly-haired people know the drill). She gave me some great suggestions but because of COVID, we haven't been able to further explore. I also want to add too that she doesn't get scissor happy when trimming my ends! Sharelle's overall personality is so personable that every time I talk to her I feel like I'm chatting with a friend. I can't wait to have her hands back in my head! P.S. I actually found this salon off of Yelp, and I can consider it a great find! My normal beautician was booked up for the next few weeks, and I preferred to get my hair done sooner rather than later. I called and got an appt for that weekend. Sharelle went out of her way to get me scheduled and in the chair. The salon itself is a little hidden, but not too hard to find if you just open your eyes. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a huge smile from Shaunie, and that is always a great feeling when you walk into somewhere not knowing the vibe. I was in the area and was in a serious crunch to have my daughter's hair done short notice. We searched place after place and not being from the bay area was seriously going to have to consider going from South Bay to Oakland... Until we found Beautique Salon. Sharelle was super friendly, professional when she picked up the call. And even though she wasn't available she checked with her other stylist and had us ready for an appointment IN LESS THAN 24 Hours! Mind you some places had waiting list a month out. Even better my daughter is 5 years old. We didn't hear a peep out of her hardly while the stylist worked on her hair. Excessive products or nothing on the sort was used on my daughter's hair. Got my first set of braids done in bright colors for Burning Man! I phoned yesterday for an appointment and Waleena had time for me the next day. I was told what to do, they recommended several stores at which I could buy the hair, and now my head is silver, lavender, deep purple, and blue. It's gorgeous, too much fun! I'm going home to YouTube braided updos and play for the rest of the afternoon! I rescheduled another appointment with the stylist because it seemed like she was just a victim of poor management, I really liked my hair, and the locations (now only 7 minutes from my house not the initial 25, one-way, I drove for no reason) it seemed like maybe I had found a stylist I could count on. The 2nd service was okay. The stylist was about 30 minutes late due to a bus or something but my hair looked good so I was fine. Well, I was up in SF visiting with friends and got stuck in traffic, I called last minute to tell her that I am still on my way but I was stuck and it seemed as though I would be considerably late. She was really easy going and let me know she would still be able to assist me. I get there and find out not only is she charging me a late fee (even though I did not make a fuss when she was late to my 2nd appointment but fair enough) but also that she was going to charge me to wash the hair I had brought with me because she was told since my last appointment that she was not supposed to include that or a trim with my service, which she had done last 2x's. I asked her why she had not called and told me this or brought it up when I called to let her know I was running late? She had no good reason! I told her I would have taken my own hair down and washed it had I known that the service was no longer included or at least I would have been prepared to pay extra for the trim, wash, and late fee. I personally would not recommend this place to anyone who is a professional and takes their business as seriously as I do. This place is better suited for people who are used to inconsistent salons. There was no receptionist when I visited this salon so things may have changed since then. I have since found a stylist in Hayward because I would rather drive THAT MUCH further and be well informed than to deal with this salon right next to my house. read more

For some reason my review posted under another persons account. Please know this is solely my review This was my first and last visit to Beautique salon. I had a 9 am appointment to get braids. At 9:20 I was still waiting, one of the other stylist called the braider who was only "5 minutes" away. At 9:45 a woman walks in with an appointment to get braided by the same person I have an appointment with, the braider had yet to arrive. Clearly this wasn't going to work. Not only did the salon double book me, but this was the second attempt to get my hair braided. I made an appointment the week prior, and got called by the stylist saying she was not able to keep the appointments and asked if I could reschedule, I did. My time is valuable,I blocked the entire day to get my hair done. I have a basic expectation that a salon can manage their appointments and will provide the basics in customer service- like -be on time, and don't double book. What's crazy is the stylist confirmed our appointment earlier in the week. BTW, the stylist didn't call to say she was running late or apologize for the inconvenience. By 9:55 I made the decision to leave the salon. I told the person who was trying to help that this was my first visit and I came based on Yelp reviews. I was asked if I wanted to rebook my appointment- ummm, this was the rebooked appointment. Because I found this salon on Yelp, I think it only makes sense to offer my review. I stumbled on this salon through yelp after my normal stylist was out of town and unable to do my hair for my nephew's wedding. I was impressed with the reviews and decided to see if a stylists could work me in. I decided to do a drive-by and drop into the salon and actually talk to a stylists in person. I initially passed by the shop twice because it sits behind the barber shop - I was looking for the shop entrance off the main street. I called and spoke with Sharelle and got directions. Once in the shop, I actually consulted with Janelle and was able to get an appointment. My hair is natural, I wanted a wash and flat iron for the wedding. I must say Janelle did an excellent job with my hair. This sounds simple enough, but for some stylists, they do not have the proper tools to style various textures of natural hair. I was impressed with the overall look of my hair and Janelle's professionalism. Not to mention as I got to know these ladies, I learned that doing hair was not just their profession but their passion. They come from a line of beauticians and have been doing hair for years. Beautique specializes in black hair, or African American hair, but it's not unusual to see clients of all races and hair types in the shop. This review is for a while back! I came here because the place was recommended to my sister who has two boys with long hair. We walked in and the lady who we were supposed to talk to wasn't there. The girl at the front desk said she would be there shortly but if she could help us with anything. After letting her know we were there for consultation and to schedule an appointment, she told us the first girl was not even coming in because they had an event or something. Okay. Not a big deal. I explain that my babyshower was coming up (making this important to me). I had a part of my head shaved and since it's growing out it's awkward and I want it braided back. Front desk girl says she can do it and schedules me. Great!! Best advice is to go morning of babyshower so the braids will be nice and fresh! Awesome!! I'm booked for the first appointment of the day. MORNING OF BABYSHOWER! I call the shop thinking I'm running late. No answer because the shop isn't open of course. I get there early and there's no one there. Another stylist shows up and opens the shop and has a client come in. I tell her I have an appointment and with who. We both call her multiple times. No answer. An hour later I leave to continue getting ready for my day.. I get a response a day or two later that my stylist had an appointment and I can reschedule for free.. Cool I figured I still had maternity photos and delivery days where I'd like my hair pulled back so I agreed and asked for a reschedule. NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE! This review is loooong overdue. My very first time coming Sharelle did a weave installment and a relaxer the next time. This woman knows her hair! She gave me so much knowledge on how to better take care of my hair and what products to use to keep it healthy. I had a lot of questions and she was really patient with me and answered each one. Sharelle is such a nice person and easy to talk to. I felt super comfortable with her! Today I had a relaxer by Shaunie (not sure of the spelling!) and she was suuuuper sweet!! I had just taken a weave out a week ago and I admit, I was rubbing my scalp a lot thinking it's better than scratching. WRONG! I can usually tolerate keeping it on for a while and then I had worked out before coming, big mistake. It was burning and I almost had a nervous breakdown but Shaunie, Bless her, talked me through it and washed it out thoroughly and I was as good as new again. For my sister's wedding I wanted to get hair extensions put in so I set up an appointment with Sharelle, and since then, it's been nothing short of Hair Heaven! Sharelle is such a pleasure to work with. She's professional, very timely and prompt with her responses back to me over the phone or email, but mainly and most importantly, the woman can do some hair yall! I went with the tape extensions which Sharelle originally suggested to me and they are simply AMAZING! Sharelle got the color right and even the texture to match my own hair! WOW! This review is coming about a week late, but I'm still on cloud 9 people! I've already brought my other sister in to Sharelle to dye her hair, and she did a fabulous job on my sister as well! I had my hair done (full sew in) on two different occasions with Ashleigh at Beautique Salon in San Jose, CA and each time she does my hair the results seem to improve. I liked my hair the first time, but I LOVED it the second time around because she asked a lot of clarifying questions which assisted her with getting the job done to my full satisfaction. I moved to San Jose 2 1/2 yrs ago from Atlanta. I have been to several salons in the bay area and NONE can compare to this salon! I just left there today and I have sew-in extensions. Janelle did such a great job I have decided to let her do my natural hair too! From the early 2000 corn row phase to the decision to transition back to my natural curl pattern, and everything in between -- Sharelle has quite literally seen me through it all. When she went on pregnancy leave, I left my hair care to myself (terrible idea). She suggested I book an appointment with Shawni and I'm glad I did! I've been back twice since then and have another appointment tomorrow :). Shawni brought my hair back to life and I am thrilled. I live in Union City now and make the drive to SJ bi-weekly because she's that good. Though I've only experienced Sharelle and Shawni, I've seen the work of the other stylists and highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for a quality stylist in the Bay Area.
