Sesan and Segan have been doing my Extentions now since 2014. Although I have tried many different types of hair and tons of different techniques, I must say the sew in wefts seem to be the most bang for your buck. As far as long wear goes, this type of installation I consider to be like the blue jeans of hair extensions. They last and last, I can go for up to about 8-9 weeks! Although it's better to go between 4-6. As far as the value goes, the prices really can't be beat, and they don't try and up-sell you either. I originally was not going to post a bad review, but due to the condescending and unprofessional behavior from the owner, Segen, I have become a real "Karen" and am posting a lengthy Yelp review. I have never gotten extensions done, but I saw there were glowing reviews for this salon, so I did a walk-in to ask for a consultation. Since I have thin Asian hair, I asked for beaded hair extensions but I was convinced to get braided sew-ins. I agreed to braided sew-in because I trusted Yodit's opinion (the stylist who is a very sweet lady). I asked if it was possible to install the extensions that day, but also understood if I had to come back a different day if she was too busy. She said it was fine and that I could come back in an hour. So I come back for the installation, and which we agreed on a more affordable set of dark, virgin hair (about $100 each, and need 2 sets) instead of the more expensive pre-colored hair (which costed about $375 each, and I would need 2 sets). I was also told by a colorist that I could have the extensions balayaged to better color match my hair. I got the dark virgin hair installed, and I agreed to coloring the top layer of my natural hair darker to match the color if the extensions. I paid a $100 tip for $200 extensions+$100 labor costs, because Yodit was very sweet and I was grateful that she squeezed me in last minute. However, the back of my head had so much hair that I could barely tie the hair into a ponytail, but the bottom half of the hair felt a bit sparse. The braids on the top were covered by my natural hair, but the bumps from the thickness of the braids were obvious. But I figured this may be normal because I have never gotten extensions done before. After sitting with the hair for a day, I changed my mind and wanted to have some (not all) of the extensions bayalaged/highlighted so I could add some color through it, as I also felt the hair was too dark against my skin and washed me out. So the next day I texted Yodit asking if I could make a balayage appointment with the colorist we chatted with, to which she replied, "yes, can you come in at 3 or 3:30 o'clock?" I agreed and went to the salon, only to find out Yodit had gone ahead and pre-mixed the dark hair dye and no colorist was in sight. I showed her the text message again, and she apologized saying she didn't fully read it and that she had just assumed I was coming in for the original plan of dyeing it dark. We agreed it was a misunderstanding, and she quickly called a few colorists to ask if they had time to come in that day, which understandably was not likely to happen. Yodit kindly gave me the numbers of the colorists so I could directly make an appointment with one of them. The next morning I was so frustrated with how thick the back of my head was, that I went to another salon to have them taken out. The stylist said she was confused as to why I was recommended braided sew-in, given that they are geared more towards people with thicker hair. She also recommended that I do not go back because some of the tracks were overlapping, which could lead to tangling and unexessary tugging on my fine hairs. Other Yelp reviewers have also complained about having this issue. So I texted Segen the next day explaining why I felt unsatisfied with the quality of the installation, and why I had them taken out. I calmly stated that I understand if she could not give a full refund, but would appreciate if she could give me a partial refund. I had also kept the hair just in case she needed physical proof that I wasn't trying to scam money from her salon or services by keeping the hair on my head. She did not try to ask for my side of the story and came at me, all based on what she has been told by Yodit. If she had just said that all hair is final sale due to hygiene reasons, and that there are no refunds for any services, I would have understood because I work in retail and often deal with angry customers trying to get refunds for final sale products. Yodit was very sweet, but the installation of hair was not great. Segen was extremely rude condescending and I am disappointed because I thought I had found a new favorite salon. read more

Segen is as good as it gets! A friend of mine recommended her to me and after looking at her Yelp reviews I knew there was no question about it! I decided to make her her own yelp page because it's not really fair that the California Hair Depot gets all of Segen's positive reviews -- they really don't have anything to do with it! Like a doctor or dentist, the review is about Segen, not where she practices. Segen is very easy to work with (who else lets you text to make appointments?), friendly, and makes getting hair extensions for the first time really comfortable. She frequently checked in with me to make sure the braids weren't too tight and make polite and interesting conversation during the process. If you don't come equipped with the hair you need, she'll escort you to the hair store next door to the California Hair Depot (where she is currently stationed) and help you select the best hair to ensure a smooth blend with your natural hair and to give you the style that you want. She is amazingly affordable!! At only $20/track, I hope the hair store guy next door is giving her a cut of his sales because I'm sure he makes a KILLING off of her customers. Wow, believe the hype, Segen is EVERYTHING. I'm afraid I'll prattle on, so let me categorize (by the way, this was for a full sew in weave): 1. Professionalism Segen is incredibly professional, You can quickly explain what you're looking for and she just gets it. You don't have to figure out if she understands what you mean or watch her like a hawk at all. She confirms what you've stated you want, and then she just gets it done! She also reacts quickly if something isn't going the way you want. I asked her to add in a lighter color, but once I saw that it was too light, asked her to use less of that hair and she was right on it. She talked to me about her plan and used it just where it needed it, which was better than me not having her use it at all. She also has a very positive attitude, she's funny and engaging, just a great personality. 2. Attention to Detail Talk about perfectionist!! She doesn't just want what looks good, great or pretty awesome, she wants true knock out perfection. We ended up needing to color my hair a bit to match the colored extensions and while some in the salon wanted to use a certain method that would have worked, but wouldn't have looked as good, Segen stepped in and directed them to do it a certain way that worked out perfect. Additionally, when she sends you to other stations (be it for flat ironing, color, etc) she is still watching every detail (even while working on other hair!!) and will come over, step in and make improvements as needed. Basically I never felt abandoned, I knew I would have the same level of awesome, no matter where I was in the salon. 3. Technique Her technique is flawless, period. I told her the way I wanted my hair to lay, she styled it that way before putting in the tracks to confirm that it would lay properly, that I didn't have any weird cowlicks there, etc and confirmed "yep, this side part is perfect for you" and then proceeded to get it done. She braids very small and very, very, very fast. I mean, you would think 2-3 people are braiding with her, but no, it's just her. She also braids according to the pattern that works for your hair. Unfortunately my first weave (which was only a month before this) didn't go very well and I ended up with 2, count them 2, bald spots from the braiding that was so tight it literally ripped out my hair. Segen had to work around that and she did an awesome job. 4. Pricing Her pricing is incredibly fair and in fact, I just had this done previously (but not what I wanted) and it was much more expensive. Her pricing is right on point. As of this posting, she only takes Cash and Check (although the salon did take credit card for the color and flat iron). 5. The Wow factor Ok, so this is obviously a very subjective category, but there is something about the difference between a person who has a cosmetology license and an artist. Segen is an artist, with the license because it's legally required of course (heh), but she really does create a vision and executes perfectly on it. I left my hair straight, but I'll post a pic of it all curled up and attach that later, so you can see final product. Anyway, definitely go to Segen, she is amazing! read more

This is my experience with the stylist Yodit. She was on a certified stylist list thru the Mayvenn hair program in which you buy their bundles and they pay for your install. Little did I know I was agreeing to the worst hair experience of my life, solely due to the stylist Yodit at Goddess Hair Bar. I was very excited to be a mayvenn client. When I ordered my hair I set up an appointment with Yodit at goddess hair bar. The appointment is supposed to include a wash, install, and style. I sit down and she asks about the lace frontal I purchased. I told her I chose it because the frontal would give me the most styling options (not my first weave). She asked if I'd like it glued or sewn in, I told her I wanted it sewn in. She then tells me that she wouldn't recommend sewing it in because it'll be loose. I said but gluing won't last long, she said about two weeks and I said I didn't spend about $600 on hair to wear it for two weeks. She said okay. Then she started talking about how she usually doesn't like working with ear to ear frontals... to her client she is about to install a frontal in for. I was silent, just then realizing she was braiding my hair already. I thought to myself, well my hair is already clean so whatever. Then she starts going on about how she usually doesn't take mayvenn clients anymore. She said she doesn't like doing jobs for mayvenn because they don't pay her enough. Specifically she said she only gets paid $100 for the service and it's different when it's her own clients. When I asked how it was different she just spoke more about the money but I got the inference that she meant she treats her actual clients better. At this point I was just annoyed. She probably noticed since she kept the conversation light after that. Once the install was done it was obvious she why she said earlier that she "wouldn't use a frontal given the choice." She didn't braid by hair in a way that would give her the ability to properly sew in a frontal. Next thing I know she says okay you're all set. No styling. Not even a comb thru. I tipped her and left. At that point I decided I would have to take it up with Mayvenn. When someone reached out about my situation, about a week later, they heard me out and the solution was that they'd send me new hair to have someone else install it. At the time it sounded like a good deal to me. During the 3 weeks I had the hair in it had become more and more apparent that Yodit completely screwed me. She didn't cut the lace properly, I had to do it myself. She didn't make the threads of braids tight enough, so when I combed thru the hair it started to loosen. She basically only sewed down the back half of the frontal, I was able to lift it up and flip it over exposing many of my braids underneath. I got back from a week long trip thinking it would all be fine and I'd just have the new hair installed. When I finally did the first proper wash of the hair, a few days after I returned, my braids and the thread were all coming loose. I couldn't even comb out the hair in the shower without it seeming like I was going to yank out my own hair in the process, on top of that the frontal was barely attached at this point. After about 2 hours of trying to make it work, I had no choice but to call a friend in the middle of the night to help me uninstall the mess. As we're trying to take out the hair, he notices some incredibly concerning things. First, some of the tracks were overlapped and sewn in a way that made them tangle together, which is why I was having so much trouble combing thru the hair. Second, she literally tied my hair together and then sewed the braids together before sewing tracks in. When we got the tracks out we had to focus on undoing the mess she caused on my natural hair. What she did caused my actual hair to break off the exact opposite of what you get protective styling for. Who knows how much of my hair would've been left unharmed underneath had I waited any longer. Because of this I was absolutely terrified to go to another "certified" stylist." Maybe Yodit would've been more motivated to do a good job if I wasn't a mayvenn client and she didn't feel like she wasn't getting paid enough for what SHE agreed to do. Overall I was completely dissatisfied and frustrated. At the least, after hearing my entire story, Mayvenn rectified the situation for me on their end. That still doesn't excuse the gross negligence that the stylist Yodit showed in doing my hair. There was nothing I could find online that would've prepared me for the nightmare Yodit caused. A message for Yodit... don't agree to do things you don't want to do and save everyone involved the trouble of having to deal with your incredibly unprofessional attitude and even worse your lack of skill and knowledge when it comes to hair. YOU caused damage to my natural hair and as a woman that wears her hair natural you should know how important it is to retain its health and strength. read more

I wanted to make sure I got them done before my trip to Vegas. She fit me in her schedule and I partied in style with lovely, long locks. 7/2/2012 I was referred to Segen by my close friend and I was hooked with the first track (literally). Segen really knows what she's doing! She's very efficient and you can see that she takes pride in her work with the finished product. If you want to get the job done right the first time, give Segen a call. I've gone to her 3 times and each time, several people come in to schedule an appointment with her. That says a lot about her work. She books up fast so call at least a week in advance.
