I usually go to my trusted lady in NYC, but being in the Newark area visiting my siblings, I thought I'd give this Brazilian salon a try since I was desperate for a quick treatment. Little did I know, it would turn into a nightmare. From the beginning, I should have realized something was wrong when Pam didn't bother cleaning the area before applying the wax directly to my skin. It felt strange and too hot, but I didn't say anything, assuming she knew what she was doing. I paid, left, and thought that was it. The next day, my armpit started burning intensely, and I couldn't even put my arm down. It turned extremely red and painful. I thought it might be an allergic reaction, so I applied allergy cream and hoped it would get better. Instead, it got worse with each passing day. When I finally managed to get in touch with them and informed them about my horrible experience, they were apologetic and suggested I traveled to Newark and pick up from them another cream. However, being in NYC while they were in NJ made it challenging for me to visit them again. I sent them pictures of my injured armpit, and they assured me it wouldn't scar and offered to reimburse me if I chose to buy the cream myself around the area to use it. Despite applying the cream they suggested, there was no real improvement. I decided to seek help from someone I trusted, and they confirmed that my underarm was indeed burned due to the salon's lack of experience and complete disregard for proper procedures. Frustrated, I reached out to the salon, requesting at least a reimbursement for the waxing service, but they ignored my request. I persisted in contacting them, but they left me on read. Finally, the receptionist (not the owner) called to apologize and offer me my money back. This establishment's behavior is deplorable, showing a clear lack of respect for their customers. I made an appointment (and by the way, you need to pay a 50% "non-refundable" deposit when you make an appointment, which should've been my first red flag) I was also shocked that the service was $1300.00. But, stupid me, for that price, I thought that meant my brows were going to look exceptionally great The day of my visit, I showed Courtney a picture of myself so that she could clearly see what my brows normally look like and what I expected them to look like. She assured me that that's what they would look like. After close to two hours and toward the end of the procedure, she told me that my skin was "tough" When she was done, I looked in the mirror expecting to see brows like I showed her in my picture. Instead, my "brows" resembled two thin, auburn worms across the tops of my eyes (my brows are normally thick and dark brown). Courtney assured me they'd look better after my second appointment. To say I was disappointed would be a vast understatement, but I made my "follow-up" appointment for a few weeks later (an additional fee, by the way), paid my remaining 700.00 and left. By day two, my brows were back to being bare, all traces of the "work" Courtney did were completely gone. The following day, I had an appointment with my dermatologist (who's office also does brows and other services), who could not believe I had anything at all done to my brows. He also couldn't believe I was charged for "What??? What did she charge you for? You have absolutely NO eyebrows". I was completely humiliated. The following weekend I was at a party with two women who own a brow bar. When I showed them my (non-existent) brows and told them about my experience, they couldn't believe I had anything done at all, as there were absolutely no traces of ink on my brows, nor was there any "peeling". They also couldn't believe the amount of money I paid and both encouraged me to reverse the charges, as services were not rendered. The following day, I called my bank and did reverse the $1300.00 charge back to my bank account. I also immediately sent Courtney a text as well as a voicemail letting her know that the "brows" were completely gone, that I had reversed the charges and questioned her services. She immediately called me saying she let me know my "skin was tough" during the procedure. Yet, instead of stopping the procedure, knowing it wasn't going to work, she kept going and then had the nerve to charge me $1300.00. She also told me on the call that she needed to be paid for her "time". She had absolutely no interest in the fact that I wasted MY own time being there, nor the fact I didn't receive the services promised. She did offer to have me come back so she could make it right, but by this time (when I told her my dermatologist laughed when he saw my brows three days after my procedure and didn't believe I had anything done, Courtney became extremely defensive and told me she didn't give a "F" what my dermatologist thought), I had absolutely no faith in her, as she could have "made it right" during my first visit, or stopped the procedure completely once she saw my brows were "not taking the ink". Instead, she gave me crap brows which disappeared 48 hours later and had the audacity to charge me for them. I wanted to end the call, so I told her I'd be back. However, after speaking to others in the field, they strongly advised me NOT to return to her. I then sent a text telling her I had a face peel and was advised not to have my brows done for a few more weeks, to which she replied it was fine for me to come even though I'd had a face peel. Which I was absolutely not going to do. I canceled the follow-up. I had already been through too much with this woman and had absolutely no faith in her. Also, after her cursing regarding my dermatologist, I saw an unprofessional anger which made me very uncomfortable. Fool that I am, I actually reversed the charge so that she did get her full 1300.00, when I should've filed a police report for theft of service. While the staff were friendly and it was a pleasant atmosphere, the overall experience was lacking. I was referred by my sister and trusted that my eyebrows would be expertly handled, despite not reviewing any before and after pics beforehand. (I later did and every pic the eyebrows are not even one round one square.) I scheduled an appointment for microblading, which I expected to be a combination brow. During the touch up session, the technician mentioned she would assess whether to proceed with the full combo brow during the next appointment touch up. I paid $700 that day my eyebrows were slanted and uneven and see through. That day I also scheduled a tattoo appointment for something small and simple. A vine with leaves around my finger and hand. I was quoted $400 for this. I didn't mind she mentioned a fine needle and I thought she was highly qualified. Even though I knew it was over priced. I sent them the tattoo I wanted.I went in for my appointment and she changed my tattoo that I've wanted for months to something she thought looked better. I should of knew right then to get up and leave. I let her tattoo me after she figured out placement which took a very long time. A few days after half of the tattoo disappeared and everything else faded. There is one line that is darker then the whole tattoo because she went over it several times. There is always random dots all over the place that i did not want. I did not ask for a henna tattoo. I went back in for my eyebrow touch up not long after. She noticed the tattoo literally was gone. She said ohh you just need a touch up. No, it was gone. She proceeded to touch my eyebrows up & never asked about the combo brow or if i even liked them. Her co-worker came in the room during my appointment & the we're discussing there weekend plans. My appointment did not exist. I then told her my eyebrows were extremely crooked. She tried to fix it several times and kept saying she didnt see it. I finally just gave up. When making an appointment then will text message you every day all hours. Very persistent. Rather annoying when you're busy. After this all happened I made an appointment with my tattoo artist for different piece and asked what he would of charged me for the tattoo she did. He said $150 there is no detail and half is gone. She did not press hard enough. The placement was wrong it should of been nowhere near my knuckle. I messaged them to tell them how unhappy i was with the work that was done. No response for hours. Then one response a day for 3 days. Telling me it was normal for the tattoo to just disappear and move. I then said I wanted a refund because I now how to either get it fixed somehow or laser removal. My eyebrows are beyond different shapes and I have to fix that. $1100 plus tip. She did not respond to my messages after that. I messaged again I was told they would not refund me services were done.
