I took a clock in need of repair to Mr. Toohey in 2014. It worked for 2 days. Since then Mr. Toohey claims I'm stalking him. NOT TRUE. I would like my money back because I did pay him for a job he claimed he could do. I don't know where he learned to repair clocks but the job I paid him for was a fiasco. I would avoid this company like the plague! I took them a Seth Thomas clock that had stopped working. First I was told it was from accumulated dirt over many years. They "fixed" it and gave it back. It worked 2 days. I took it back and NOW LO AND BEHOLD IT NEEDS IT'S GUTS REPLACED! (None of this showed up during the cleaning?) That aside, BEAVERCREEK CLOCK REAIR/COMPANY, has had the clock since mid December of 2012. I was never updated unless I called. No emails, updates nothing...AND TODAY IS MAY 23, 2013!! I called him on May 22, 2013 to resolve the issue one way or another. He said I could have my clock back and a refund. I called him today and said that we have discussed it, and that seems like the best solution. But he will be out of town until sometime around the beginning of June. Don't take this Company anything that means something to you, as you may never see it again. JUST TO TOUCH BASE, MR. TOOHEY AND THE BEAVERCREEK CLOCK COMPANY HAS NEVER MADE GOOD ON MY CLOCK BUT I DID GO AND GET IT AND THE KEY. I WILL TAKE IT TO ANOTHER COMPANY TO GET IT FIXED. I HAVE NOTICED THAT MR. We called to schedule service to our grandfather click which is not working; the owner said it would be a couple weeks before he could get to Yellow Springs (maybe a ten minute drive for him?). Two months later to the day, we called and left a message. No response. A couple weeks later called again, left message and no response. If he didn't want the job he could have just told us and not responding to our polite messages is simply unprofessional and unkind. So, we've wasted 10 weeks thanks to this guy. Considering his other negative reviews, I wouldn't trust him to follow through on his work, much less be responsible for any damage he might cause. read more

The grandfather clock my father-in -law built from a kit in 1974 had stopped running after having the movement replaced almost 5 years ago. Mr. Toohey returned my call promptly and took the mechanism to his shop where he dismantled, cleaned, lubricated it and polished pivots.He also ran the mechanism in his shop for several days after it was reassembled.This process took about 4 weeks for the repair, cleaning, and scheduling to return the clock.. I called Beavercreek Clock Repair inquiring if they would be able to service and set-up our grandfather clock post move. The owner came on 9-1-15 and lubricated the gears and replaced the weights and pendulum. He then started the clock. The whole process took less than 10 minutes, and he said it was done. I asked if he gave a discount if I paid in cash, and he said no, and that he wouldn't take a credit card. Shortly after he left, the clock stopped. I called him and he said he'd return later that day. Due to an emergency, he returned the next morning. I told him that the tic-toc sounded different than it had before the move. He said that was because he lubricated it. He said he wanted to look behind the face of the clock at the mechanisms. (One would think that that would be part of the original service call.) He asked if the movers ever had the clock laying on it's side, because a chain had looped itself over a gear an extra time. I replied that 'of course they had it on it's side. They couldn't have carried it thru doorways upright!' He said that was why the clock had stopped. When he removed the weight to correct the chain, he sat it inside the cabinet, which caused the false floor to collapse under it's weight. He proceeded to remove the other weights and the pendulum, so he could lay my clock on it's side to repair the now busted out bottom. He then said that he could tell that the movers had dropped a weight inside our clock. When asked why he thought that, he told me that the clips holding the bottom where all bent. I told him that perhaps that had something to do with the fact that he had laid a weight on it, causing it to break thru. Silence... He 'fixed' the inside bottom of my now-damaged clock and sat it upright. He started it again then left. It stopped shortly after. I called him and he said he was going on vacation and would call me upon his return the following week. He also said he'd have to bring a special Howard Miller diagnostic tool to figure out why the clock wasn't working, and that the movers probably caused damage which they'd have to pay for. I asked what he'd do about the damage done inside my clock and he said 'What damage?' I had to point out that I saw the damage to the wood on the floor of my clock that was caused by him. He said he'd touch that up when he returned. When he didn't call as promised, I left him a message to call me back. I gave him a day to respond, and after he didn't, I filed a complaint with the BBB. I also called the family-owned business that we bought our clock from. The owner, who is not a clock repairman, drove over an hour to come see if he could get our clock running. He immediately saw the problem, made the minor adjustment (which explained why the tic-toc sounded different) and my clock has run since. read more
