Worst customer support experience I have ever had. I have been coming to this establishment for years, and my entire staff frequently visits as well. Unfortunately, the service has completely deteriorated due to one specific customer support employee.It was incredibly obvious that this employee was having a bad day, and he chose to completely dump his frustrations onto the customers. The level of disrespect and poor service was shocking. After speaking with my team, I realized I am not the only one--multiple staff members have expressed the exact same complaints about this individual's behavior.Management seriously needs to step in and send this employee through a customer service and harassment training program. We will not be returning, and I will be advising my team to take their business elsewhere as well. read more

My podiatrist sent me to Beck Shoes for sneakers, lifts, and arch support. James waited on me and explained everything. He picked out everything I needed, and I picked a pair of 990 Sneakers. By the time I got home, the shoes were uncomfortable. Today I realized my feet were rocking from side to side and front to back. I took off the sneakers and saw that the inserts were crooked and sliding. The backs of the inserts have stickers to stick to the bottom of the shoe. They have a paper cover over them that needs to be taken off. James did not do that, so my foot was sliding all over the place. I myself took care of it today. This is something James should have known to do. And for $270, I received extremely poor service. read more

Visited here today and was helped by Hector. BY FAR the best customer service I have experienced in a very long time. Hector was 1) extremely professional (balancing three clients on average at the same time) 2) knew his job (and feet!) very well -- for example all of my life i have been a size 40 bit he knew i would be a 39 in a particular shoe.. 3) sold me (appropriately) insoles I needed but had me try one shoe with and the other without so I could compare. Hector was extra enthusiastic in his welcoming me when I came in the store (and i never do well with that) so i wanted to stay away but he won me over. And if we are honest, he did his job well in welcoming every client in. There was a new employee whom pretty much watched while Hector did everything. No shade to the new employee but I say this because it was fantastic to watch Hector multi task (and well) and give fair attention to all clients. Outside of the customer service: ive gotten shoes here years ago that my podiatrist ordered and they have been fantastic so it was a solid deal to return. They are on the high side but for good shoes, it's worth it! read more

I came to Beck's back in July 2025 and met Hector Martinez the first time coming to this store. He was professional and got me the perfect shoes and inserts after scanning my feet. I was in pain when I walked in and when I left no pain! My own podiatrist didn't even think to send me to this store! I visit the store today because I was in need of insoles for my newly purchased Doc Martens that were a little big (the brand doesn't offer half sizes). Upon entry to the store, I was welcomed by a nice sales lady, and explained my dilemma. She brought me to a cool machine that you stand on (while wearing socks) that determines your arches & recommends a style of support. She put the supports in my Doc Martens & the shoes fit wonderfully. She reminded me that if I had shoes that already had some type of foot liner, it would have to be removed before the arch support was inserted. Now, I just have to break in my new boots! I bought a pair of slippers (sandals) that also have arch support to wear on my Hawaii trip next week. Thank you Becks! My feet are happy too! read more

On the Run in the Inner Sunset used to be my go to shoe store for decades but it's not conveniently located and they have gotten a bit egotistical over the years. Yeah, they have decent shoes and everything. I bought an expensive pair of Hoka shoes. I went for the computer thing that's supposed to analyze my feet and recommend inserts. The sales woman put the computer-recommended inserts in my shoes. While I'm trying out the shoes, she gives the original inserts (My inserts that I'm paying for when I bought my shoes for $165!) to another woman who was shopping there. I asked for the inserts and she pretended to not know what happened to them. I asked her to go in back and take them out of an identical pair of shoes. She putzed around in back and brought out ones from some other brand of shoes. I made my expensive purchase, but since then, I've decided never to come back to Beck's Shoes. read more

Disappointing since the previous shoe store in this location was so good. The saleswoman brought out a different Keen model than my partner wanted. Then she returned with the desired model in the wrong size. If she had said from the start that she didn't carry the very-average size and common model, that would have been okay. Not a good argument for shopping local. read more

James, thank you so much for helping me select the right shoes for my feet. I was looking for pickle ball and walking shoes. I had spent a couple hours the day before at Sports Basement trying on multiple pairs of shoes, many of which were on sale. I left overwhelmed because nothing seemed to fit well, and no one from the floor staff came over to check in or offer any advice. The first thing James did was scan and measure my feet. I don't think my feet had been measured since I was a kid, and honestly it was a really nice feeling. Well, it turns out that all this time, I had been wearing shoes that were both too small and too narrow for me. I knew my feet had spread after pregnancy. I just did not realize how much. Also, I had developed asymmetric bunions. James gave me a couple pairs to try on. They were so much bigger and bulkier than what I was used to, but I could tell they fit my feet better. I bought two pairs (with the 2nd pair discounted). I just spent a couple of hours walking around in the pickle ball shoes and I am shocked at how comfortable they are. Clearly, I have not been wearing the right shoes all this time. James, you have earned a loyal customer with your A+ service. You were so helpful, patient and knowledgable. I will never buy shoes elsewhere. I came here after metatarsalgia and a stress fracture in the ball of my left foot, on top of hallux rigidus, bunions, and high arches after too much time on pointe shoes growing up. St. Hector of Lombard St. has saved me. He is so skilled, hardworking, and talented. I had the first proper measurement in years and a 3D scan (that showed all my worst pain points, funnily enough) and Hector explained (with a demo sole) why the Birkenstock footbed works for me, with the issues I have. He then shared his strategy, which would be to select shoes that don't exacerbate other issues (i.e. no heel/neutral height to keep pressure off the hallux rigidus and bunions; wide toe box for the same), and add orthotics to deal with the metatarsalgia. I stood up in the first pair Hector brought out and my foot pain was ALMOST gone. I thought that was as good as it could get, under the circumstances, but Hector encouraged me to try the other pair. NO PAIN. Literally pain free walking for the first time in a MONTH. I almost cried in the store. I left with two pairs (the walking shoes and work boots I came for, orthotics for all of them) and ordered a duplicate pair of the walking shoe to pick up later. Hector is amazing. At one point -- on a Monday morning, mind you -- it was slammed. There were 14 customers total in the store, and Hector was holding it down ALONE, in English and in Spanish. It was a marvel. My wife sought better supportive socks, but when the attentive staff member observed my stance he could tell that I over-pronate and politely asked if I were aware of it. Despite not being there to shop for myself, and not feeling particularly receptive, somehow I became convinced to hear the sales rep out. He courteously managed to convince me to try the foot-scanner and got correct advanced orthopedic insoles from the data it provided. Upshot: $70 saved me from prematurely having to replace my $250 Blundstone boots that immediately fit and felt better than new! I returned to upgrade the rest of my footwear. It's really incredible how corrective supportive insoles alleviate back and knee pains that I had mistakenly chalked up to aging. Thanks so much! read more

I got great advice and excellent customer service here even though I didn't end up buying anything! Linda Gonzalez helped me and she really knows her stuff. I thought I needed a particular pair of insoles but she explained why they wouldn't solve my problem, and she was right. Then she helped me try a couple of options and wound up giving me some free shoe "biscuits" to help me wear shoes for a special occasion. I really appreciated that she didn't try to up-sell me and that she was so knowledgeable about feet and foot problems. Looks like orthotics are in my future so I will definitely be back! read more

I stopped in this store to check out their shoes! I was impressed with the store with all the ambience with the store. Linda was excellent and was able to answer all my questions on a certain brands. She Introduced me to a wonderful brand that would service my feet along with the Orthotics inserts for more comfort and joy. The only thing was that they did not have the colors with my sizes but I did purchase the Orthotics Insert. I would highly recommend to visit the store. Great service and selection! This was my first time at Beck's, and my friend and I were helped by Hector and Linda who are really wonderful. They brought out the shoes we asked for, plus a few that we did not but that they thought might work - and some did! They know their inventory well, including what brands, styles and sizes work best for your foot. The store got very busy both times I was there, but the service did not suffer. I watched the staff quickly find find the right shoes for a wide range of customers - a restaurant worker needing comfy and supportive shoes, an elderly woman in a wheelchair wanting comfort and fashion, a long-distance runner, and more. While I did not find the right fit in running shoes, I still left happy with the cutest shoes that are soooo comfy and truly fashionable (not "comfy shoe passable" but objectively fashionable!). I'm glad to find another locally owned shoe store and will be a return customer. read more
