He was actually very happy with the initial sales experience and his purchase. Unfortunately, everything changed once it was time for delivery. He took the day off work specifically to be home for the scheduled delivery. When the delivery team arrived, the adjustable base was already broken before it even came off the truck. The driver actually called my boyfriend out to the truck to show him the damage and told him, "Don't tell them I showed you." Obviously, we were not accepting a broken adjustable base. We contacted the store around 11:00 AM to figure out how they were going to replace it, especially considering he had already taken an entire day off work for this delivery. From there, we spent the ENTIRE day trying to get an answer. We spoke with the manager, Clifford, and instead of showing any urgency or concern about fixing a problem that was completely outside of our control, he seemed aggravated that we were even asking what Mattress Firm could do to make the situation right. At one point, his response was essentially that they couldn't give us a discount, and our options were to either pick up the replacement ourselves from the warehouse in Miami or cancel the entire purchase. Excuse me? We weren't asking for "free stuff." We were asking how Mattress Firm planned to make this right after delivering a BROKEN product, causing someone to lose a day of work, and leaving us without something we had already paid for. And why would WE drive to a warehouse in Miami to pick up an adjustable base when we already paid $100 for delivery? My boyfriend told him he wasn't interested in canceling the mattress he had just purchased and was happy with, nor was he going to pick up an item that Mattress Firm was paid to deliver. Clifford then told us he would check with the warehouse and call us back. He never did. We continued calling throughout the day trying to get an update. Eventually, we found out that Clifford had left for the day without ever calling us back. I do want to specifically acknowledge the assistant manager, James, because he continued following up with us and genuinely seemed to be trying to figure out what was happening. Unfortunately, he couldn't give us answers because he wasn't getting the information he needed from Clifford either. Finally, at approximately 8:15 PM (more than NINE HOURS after we first contacted the store) James called us back and told us there was no adjustable base available and the earliest they could deliver one would be Friday. So after taking the day off work for today's delivery, we're now supposed to rearrange our schedule AGAIN and wait another 2-3 days because Mattress Firm delivered a broken product and spent the entire day failing to resolve it? Had this been handled with urgency at 11 AM when we first called, there may have been other options. Instead, we were given the runaround until nearly closing time. And somehow that's STILL not everything. The two pillows we purchased were never delivered either. When we mentioned the missing pillows to Clifford, his response was essentially that he wasn't worried about the pillows because we could just come to the store and get them. Again, why are we being asked to drive around picking up items that were supposed to be delivered with an order for which we already paid a delivery fee? Mistakes happen. Products can arrive damaged. That's not what makes this a one star experience. It's the complete lack of accountability and urgency AFTER the mistake happened. We're now left with an expensive king mattress sitting on the floor, a broken adjustable base that was never delivered, two missing pillows, a wasted day off work, and no replacement base for another 2-3 days. The difference between a bad delivery and a bad customer experience is how a company responds when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, the way this was handled, particularly by management, turned what had initially been a positive purchasing experience into an incredibly frustrating one. James, thank you for at least continuing to communicate with us and trying to help. But the overall handling of this situation has been completely unacceptable.

This is absolutely ridiculous and shameful. Furthermore, when we initially bought the mattress we bought an adjustable base. I called the store & spoke with both Jose and his manager Caroline. After explaining my situation, both of them rolled up their sleeves and made next day delivery happen. They called the warehouse and had my Saturday delivery moved up to Friday. I called them late afternoon on Thursday and delivery was moved up again to an early morning drop off. The window they originally gave me was 9am-3pm. Imagine my surprise when my phone rang at 7:15am the next morning and the driver said he will be there between 8-9:30am!!! We purchased a Simmons Beautyrest mattress and boxspring set. The price was a little high but when you factor in the free delivery, it all balanced out. We also bought a mattress cover which was fairly priced. They were kind enough to waive the $29 removal fee too. Jose and Caroline are rock stars in my book. I did the transaction over the phone and they made it so easy. I was told delivery went well with no hiccups. The driver also called me to let me know he arrived and I also received an automated text once delivery was made. Something I appreciated was I never had to question the delivery status. The line of communication was open from start to finish; text, emails, phone calls; you name it & they had it covered. Hands down, this was a great experience. Jose and Caroline are true professionals and their level of customer service was top notch. I am blown away by their motivation to expedite everything and incredibly thankful for their help. She was so helpful and provided a lot of honest and useful information. My Mom had a great experience here so I knew I would come here too when I needed a mattress. The showroom is so open and airy. It is not like some of the other mattress places where it is very cluttered. The showroom at City Mattress is very modern. Anyway, I can't say enough nice things about this place. Adam, the owner, is super easy to work with. I had done my research, and the leg work myself before even reaching out to them. I had gone in and tried various mattresses in Mattress firm so I could get a feel for them before heading his way. I suggest everyone do this as his place saves you money partially because he doesn't have a giant showroom floor with 100 different beds set up to spend money on. So, go check out the ones you think you're interested in at the big box stores. Then, give him a call with the ones you've narrowed down. once you've picked the best deal, swing by his place, he'll get the mattress for you if you want to try it one more time and then bing bang boom you make the deal and save a ton. I had an issue, but, it wasn't their issue. I tried a comparable tempur pedic mattress in the store, but, the one he had that was close to what I wanted was a version made by tempur pedic for costco. So, I didn't get to try that one out. So, when I got there to his place, he got it ready for me, I did a quick lay down test and we did the paperwork. problem was, because it's hot out and hot in the area where the mattresses are, the foam reacts differently. So, I sank into the bed like I wanted. Problem came later that day (yes, we were able to get same day delivery) we got everything set up. His delivery guys were very nice, quick and clean. They got it setup and later that night we went to sleep on it. It was not as soft as it was in the warehouse. The foam softens in a warm environment, but the house is not that environment lol. I gave it a night, then I gave it a second night. Both nights I woke up in the middle of the nigh with that feeling of, ugh, I think I made a mistake and I can't be stuck on a bed that's not comfortable for me. So, I called Adam and explained my situation. I asked what, if anything, we could do about it. He mentioned how at the stores a bunch of people have tested out those beds that have likely been on the display floor a while, so they don't always have the same feel. So he gave me an option for another model of Tempurpedic. The price difference was fair considering I have to have a crew come back down to deliver another mattress and remove the current mattress. So, to boil it down to the part that might interest you the most, the prices. I priced out the Tempurpedic Luxe Adapt king size mattress and the adjustable base. Most places will charge between $7,698 to maybe $8,198 Mattress Joint came in at $2,950 (and that's with both deliveries (the original and the swap out one) plus it covered removing the old bed and box spring. I will haggle in most of the places I go to, because that's the new yorker in me. However, I will say this... Don't bother haggling. He's going to give you a great deal, it's not worth nickel and diming to save $20 or $50 you're already saving a ton, don't be that person. also, keeping in mind that he and his wife are a mom and pop place, consider paying cash. It saves the businesses on having to pay credit card processing fees (even if the card is linked to your bank account) They're saving you a bunch already return the favor and let them save by not paying processing fees.
