We went to The Inn at Pound Ridge for our anniversary, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. From the start, service was extremely slow and inattentive. It took a long time just to get menus and even longer for them to take our order. Throughout most of the meal, no one checked on us--only toward the very end did anyone come by. For an appetizer, we ordered the guacamole and chips, and the chips came out cold. We actually had to ask them to heat them up, which shouldn't be necessary at a restaurant like this. For our entrées, the experience didn't improve. The chicken was slimy, and the grilled lamb was bland and lacked any real flavor. We couldn't even finish our meals. The seating made things worse. We were placed in a corner right next to what appeared to be a service station. Staff were constantly coming in and out, which made it difficult to relax or enjoy any sense of privacy--especially on a special occasion. What was most concerning was the cleanliness. The wall directly behind our table was visibly dirty, with streaks that looked like spilled drinks that had never been cleaned. For a restaurant at this level, that's simply unacceptable. They did bring out small complimentary muffins/cupcakes for our anniversary, which was a nice gesture, but unfortunately they were dry and underwhelming. The biggest issue came at the end of the meal. We had a gift card (with receipt and order number), but they couldn't locate it in their system. The assistant general manager assured us it would be resolved in a few days and asked us to pay another way in the meantime. After multiple follow-ups over the course of more than two and a half weeks--calls and emails--we still have not received any resolution or refund. Communication has been inconsistent at best and nonexistent at worst. I've been here a few times before and each visit has gotten progressively worse. I really wanted to like this place, but after this experience, I won't be returning. read more

Had to ask 2x to refill water and 2x for wine - wine glass stayed empty for 11 mins. Our server ended up with 8 tables, including a 6-top- not her fault I suppose but we had not seen for most of the night after the initial greeting. Our anniversary dinner was an overall bust. Drove 30 mins with reservations and arrived on time - nonissues getting our table - however we had a 5:45 resy. Observations included many tables waiting for service - can't imagine a 6:30 resy and wait for service. Think twice about this place - a classic example of the reputation outpacing its ability to deliver on food and service. Yes, we got the token 2 small cupcakes (dry, unappealing) at the end with the bill. Bill was $300 - with 1 appetizer, 2 mains and 2 glasses of modest wines each. I finally made it to this restaurant so I feel like I was hyped and my expectations were high !!! It definitely delivered on things. The food was excellent. We had calamari as an appetizer which was very fresh and so soft you were able to cut with a fork. For main dish we had the burger to share with warm shrimp salad. The burger was one of the best I have eaten. The bar service was impeccable, they were certainly attentive and very nice. Loved the feel of the Inn and mood in the room. Romantic spot yet certainly can go with friends. My only complaint..... when we called last minute to get in they said absolutely not. They were so packed they couldn't fit another reservation but we were welcome at the bar first come first serve. So we did that and I expected that. However ! We sat at the bar and ate for two hours uncomfortably and watched many many tables not be sat at. We didn't ask to sit assuming reservations were coming in. Not the case , and I hate when places hype up their restaurant to bring the desire and then there are plenty of tables. Not cool. I visited The Inn a few weeks ago for an early lunch and was severely underwhelmed. The food deserves 2 stars, but they received an extra star for friendly service. Our waiter was sweet and attentive. It's a nice, medium-sized spot with ample seating space. When we arrived, it was pretty empty but filled up within the hour. I had the ginger margarita which was tasty, but keep in mind that all of their cocktails are wine based. For appetizers, I had the green mint hummus platter (which was an interesting choice) and my cousin ordered the crispy salmon sushi. They only gave about 2oz of hummus for an entire plate of veggies and flatbread. It was ALRIGHT, but mint is not something I'd incorporate into hummus. I didn't try the sushi as I don't care for salmon, but my cousin said that it wasn't good. I also ordered the chicken samosas to go and those were flavorful (best thing I ate honestly). For the entree, I had the shrimp burger with fries. When I tell you BLANDDDDD. It tased like it was pulled fresh from the sea and had not an ounce of seasoning. No salt, NOTHING!!! I cannot say enough amazing things about this place. First the ambience is extraordinary- quaint yet spacious, perfectly appointed and elevated. The service from the time you pull up to the valet, the hostess and the service table side were all perfectly executed. But the real show stopper are the drinks and the food. To start we had the tuna tartare, crispy salmon sushi along with the Raspberry Lychee Bellini and super Tuscan. All were amazing. For an entree we did the Warm Shrimp salad, roasted salmon and 28 Day Dry Aged Prime Ribeye for two. I didn't try the salad but the salmon was great (especially the corn) and the ribeye was perfection. The steak came with a side of creamed spinach and roasted potatoes. All great. For dessert we had the peach cobbler which was great but was completely overshadowed by the caramel sundae and the molten lava. (The lava cake was a substitute because they were out of another dessert). You don't need to be celebrating a special occasion to come here - the food, ambience and service are so good it needs to be part of your regular rotation! read more

I kind of loved the vibe. It gave off Eyes Wide Shut / East Village darkroom bar energy -- moody, intimate, and a little theatrical in a way that worked. The food was excellent across the board. Our table of four ordered just about every starter on the menu, followed by two seafood mains and two burgers. Not a single complaint from anyone -- everything was well-prepared, satisfying, and clearly coming from a confident kitchen. And then there were the bathrooms. Where to even start -- and I really think it has to start at the top. For a place of this caliber, the state of the restrooms was beyond reproach. We arrived late in the evening, and it genuinely looked as though they hadn't been cleaned, checked, or even considered since lunch service. This wasn't a small oversight; it was glaring. It's the kind of thing that immediately makes you pause and wonder what other corners might be getting cut -- and in pursuit of what, exactly? Because when the food and atmosphere are this strong, a miss like that is both confusing and disappointing. With proper attention to basic housekeeping, this could easily be a standout experience. We ordered the following: -crispy salmon sushi: this was ok, but I wouldn't get it again. The sushi rice was cooked perfectly and crispy, but because the rice was so hot it seemed to cook the salmon and made the salmon warm which didn't taste good -tuna tartar: this was very fresh, but I didn't like the ginger soy marinade that it came with -burrata: this was good and probably the only app I would get again -squash salad: I didn't taste this but the table enjoyed this app -steamed Blake sea bass: I got this for my main dish and this was amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce it came with was great -dry aged prime ribeye for two: this was the worst dish of the night. I can understand why the food was rated a Michelin Guide Restaurant to visit in 2025. The drinks were great, and the service is wonderful. I wanted to challenge the kitchen with eating Salmon two different ways. My wife and I ordered the Salmon Sushi as a shareable and I went with the Faroe Salmon with Caramelized Fennel and a turmeric-lemon emulsion. If you're looking for a gem to dine for brunch or dinner upstate in NY, check this place out if it's along your route. The dishes are cooked to perfection where the salmon and chicken aren't over cooked as well as the lobster burger doesn't fall apart. The pizza, calamari, samosas, and tuna tartare are safe bets to start with for appetizers along with their mock tails of green juice and turmeric tonic. Service is friendly, helpful, and responsive. Ask for bread and you get a bowl full with olive oil on each side of the table to dip. Parking is ample in the front with valet or self-parking spots in the back. Restrooms are gender neutral and downstairs where it's a bit darker and even cooler, so bring a jacket and a guide. It's a bit out of the way to visit unless you have friends or an event nearby. The restaurant is across from a museum and near a nursery and town park. It's not that scenic, but it is cozy and quaint for some charm outside the city. read more

We ventured out to the Inn at Pound Ridge for brunch. We made reservations for noon thinking that everyone will come out later but we were wrong. Cars were lined up waiting for them to open. The ambiance is beautiful, a nice friendly environment. We started brunch off with cocktails - a Whiskey Cider and a Blood Orange Bellini. Both cocktails were well prepared with a great presentation and tasted really good. For brunch we ordered the French Toast with Caramelized apples with a side of bacon and the Cheddar Cheeseburger with Frizzled onions and Yuzu pickles. The presentation was awesome and the food tasted as good as it looked. I was glad I was able to add a fried egg to the burger. The portions were plentiful and well worth the money. It was time for another round of cocktails. This time we ordered the Cucumber Martini and the Ginger Margarita. The presentation was on point and the drinks were well prepared. We were extremely pleased with our second round of cocktails. The wait staff works as a team, so they are constantly checking to make sure everything is okay. The Inn at Pound Ridge is definitely worth the trip. It may be a little pricey if you have too many cocktails but it's worth it especially if you are not driving. read more

Made a reservation here for my husbands birthday after going through a ton of restaurants on the Michelin star restaurants page. It's a bit in the middle of nowhere but very nice. They have valet which is nice but I felt bad as I didn't know and didn't bring cash. Although we were only a couple minutes early for our reservations they were backed up and we ended up waiting a very long time for a table. We were able to order drinks at the bar but it was very crowded and my feet were aching in the heels from standing for so long. The drinks were also very expensive so I wouldn't want to order more than one while waiting anyways. We were brought downstairs to a beautiful cellar and sat next to some big windows. The server was very nice and we ordered more drinks and a bunch of appetizers. We had a few burrata fans at the table so we got 2 of the truffle burrata for about $40 a piece. Definitely regretted that as it wasn't any better than burrata I've had elsewhere for way cheaper. The crispy salmon sushi was my favorite as it was very good. We also got the octopus and even though I couldn't try it due to an allergy I was told it was very good. We were also given a free salad to try and we all took a little bit and found it lovely. I got the lemon ricotta pizza and i appreciated the server warning me it was "very lemony" but I love lemony food so I got it and loved it! I let my husband and friend try it who said it was too lemony lol. My husband wanted the lamb but unfortunately they were out so he went with the Parmesan chicken. It was delicious but the sauce was phenomenal. Although very full we got dessert as it was his birthday. They surprised us with a cupcake with a candle and song. I had such a recent negative experience at Inn at Pound Ridge- a restaurant my family and I have frequented regularly and will no longer go back. I wrote an email to the restaurant highlighting the multiple negative events that led to a completely ruined birthday dinner, which went unacknowledged and therefore compelled me to leave a review, which I rarely do. I understand that restaurants have bad nights, but this was one thing after another and resulted in my mother in law's birthday dinner being ruined. We love the Inn at Pound Ridge and we are so disappointed by what happened - I've outlined it all below in hopes that this never happens to anyone else. 1. This may have been an error on our end, but we had a reservation for 6 people at 8PM on 2/16. We switched the reservation to 3/8 due to inclement weather. We never received any sort of confirmation or communication before the dinner and thankfully my wife checked in the day before. Somehow, when the reservation was transferred online it shifted from 6 people to 2 people. 2. The reservationists were helpful and assured us they could accommodate us at 8:45PM. We asked if they were sure knowing Saturday nights are busy and they assured us that we'd be seated at or around 8:45 if not earlier. 3. This ended up not being the case and we were not offered our first table until 9:20PM, only after asking 2 times for a status update from the host and then manager. This would have been fine, except we were offered a table of 4 for our party of 6, with the explanation that the table we were supposed to have was taking longer than expected. We were stunned as there was no way we would fit at this table and was not actually an option. 4. Finally at 9:30 we were seated after the manager asked the other table to get up. He did the right thing and comped our first round of drinks and a few apps. The service overall was slow and it was clear that the restaurant was understaffed. The table next to us had to flag down a manager and basically said they hadn't seen their server in 20 min. Again, this would have been OK had it not been so late, but everything dragged. 5. My husband and I ordered the beef tenderloin which we love, our favorite part is the cabbage. When our meal came, the server put a plain piece of steak with a side of spinach in front of us without saying anything. When we asked what this was, he said that they ran out of cabbage so this is what they were offering. He asked if we wanted something else, but at this point it was already super late. When we asked why nobody had flagged this to us earlier, he had no real explanation. We would have ordered something else had we known! 6. It ended up being so late (around 11:15PM at this point) that my mother in law and the others had to leave before dessert and before we sang happy birthday. We asked the server for the check immediately and again it took so long that I had to flag down somebody else to get us our bill - we had to get home to relieve a sitter. The server finally reappeared and noted that even though we had to leave they wanted to send us home with dessert. It was a nice thought, but too little too late and we just wanted to leave. At that point, somebody came by with a cake and a candle - but it was a happy birthday for no one as everyone else had already left. I realize this is a long review, but I felt that it was important to capture the amount of failings that happened over the course of our evening. When you're spending the evening (and money) for a Jean George experience this is not what you expect. read more

The chandeleir above our table was flickering like a horror movie, and our table decided that was oddly appropriate to the evening we had. There are local, non-rated, non-reservation spots in every town nearby that are better worth your occasion and your money. Such a disappointment and such a rip-off. Shame on the Inn and Jeans George. For what it is worth, I have eaten at his Manhattan restaurants and posted opposite reviews. I went here for Valentines Day, specifically day of course. This place has been a talking point so we tried and left knowing we most likely won't come back again. We had a fixed menu, which wouldn't read or understand half of them. Appetizer was no where near perfect, in fact is was god awful. After appetizer was done, waited what felt like an eternity to get our entree. A complimentary plate came in the mist between. It was a bite.. Finally our entree came which was the only good thing i can say, which was the salmon.. how can you mess that up? I must add it was so extremely hot in there. I get it's been cold past couple days but that night was about 40 degrees and they had the fire place on and heat on blast! Very unpleasant and uncomfortable. Dessert came.. it was ehh. While we were a late lunch and just one of three parties downstairs, our food took over 90 minutes to come. We had to hail down our waiter to get extra bread. Kids were starving and rightfully so. Waiter did not come once to check in nor let us know what was causing the delay in the kitchen. Forgot an appetizer that we ordered. The icing on the cake? Had a Christmas evening reservation at 5 o'clock. The menu was fixed price and exorbitant because of the holiday. We were seated by the fire, which was out. Subsequently a staff member tried to start it numerous times even with a blow tart - an immediate and lasting inconvenience to our table. We were served an hors d'oeuvre of salmon sushi with a topping of caviar. After about 15 minutes they brought some soy sauce which they said they forgot to serve. At 5 o'clock only about 2/3 of the seats upstairs were filled, but the service was slow and in attentive. I have to say I have never been disappointed when dining at any of the Jean-George restaurants. The Inn at Pound Ridge is a prime example of great service and delicious food. We had brunch which was excellent. Staring with a Mezcal and Lavender Negroni, which had a distinctive smokey taste was amazing. I had the Turmeric Tonic, which had a nice blend of spice and mint. Our appetizer was an excellent Crispy Salmon Sushi with chipotle mayonnaise and soy glaze. I could have eaten three more serving, it was sooo good. For our main course we had the Arugula and Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad with manchego cheese, avocado and green olive dressing topped with perfectly cooked crispy chicken slices. The Baked Eggs with tomato, delicata squash, jalapeño pickles, bacon, cheddar and croutons was perfect. The jalapeño gives the dish a pleasant kick and the three baked eggs had nice runny yolks. To end our meal we had and espresso and cappuccino, along with one scoop of the toasted cocoa ice cream. The toasted cocoa ice cream is a must have if you are a true chocolate lover. On one of the coldest days of 2025 we enjoyed the rustic yet modern ambiance of the dining room with the fireplace giving a warming vibe. We had good attention by the wait staff and the hostess was welcoming. All in all we enjoyed our experience and look forward to another visit. read more

We just finished brunch at the Inn. I will start by saying the server,Dennis, was terrific. Pleasant and knowledgeable. During bout meal I was served a cocktail. 2 sips into it the bussboy managed to knock into it and pour it all over me. Very apologetic and no harm done. However when th check came we were charged for that drink. Before we were finished with our coffee a staff member came and asked us to leave because they needed the table. This was not my first visit to the Inn. We've been several times including holidays. As I said,our waiter was lovely. However the treatment of guests that are paying an inflated amount for not outstanding food really should be treated with a bit more respect. Its hard to rate your restaurant. Waiter was great, overall treatment by management not so great. I will have to give u a 3 read more
