Our fries came out clearly double-cooked - you could tell they'd been sitting around and reheated. The wings were so overcooked they were practically jerky. As for the hand-breaded tenders, they were crispy alright, but only because there was barely any breading left on them. The only saving grace of this entire experience was our server Diana. She was absolutely fantastic - attentive, friendly, and professional despite what seemed like a chaotic kitchen situation. She's honestly the sole reason this review gets 2 stars instead of 1. I'm genuinely glad to hear this is her second job because with the way things are going here, I'd be shocked if Barrel 53 makes it another 6 months. Diana deserves so much better than this place. If you're thinking about dining here, maybe wait and see if they can get their kitchen sorted out first.

This is the oldest bar in Frankfort and has an impressive collection of bourbon brands, and even the rarest of the rare- Pappy Van Winkle collection. They also have bar food and the best chicken wings in town. I like the Bourbon Glaze and Garlic Parmesan wings. The bar has been completely remodeled with nice clean bathrooms and new staff. The new workers seem to love their job and enjoy sharing local bourbon lore with the out of towners. I like to watch movies on the big tvs and sometimes they put on old shows to watch at the customer's request. There's pool that seems very popular and a touch tunes that's always playing the hits.

In our second flight, we melted over the dry, but jammy, Dread Pirate Roberts blackberry sour (again followed with a full pint). The Bog of Allen extra stout on nitro gives Guinness a perfect run for its money with clean cocoa and coffee finish, and the Zero Irish Red gave set a new standard for us against which to compare Irish Reds. It had a strong nose of speculoos and tasted perfectly to boot. Friendly staff, a separate food kitchen in back and clean, chill facilities to accompany. If you are looking for a stopover and place to taste something new, interesting, or even brand new, pop in!!!
