So took my friend's cat in and it ended up having to be euthanized. They were super sweet and let me know what could be done and the likelihood of it being effective. They talked to the owner on my phone and let them know and then let me wait in the room with the cat until the owner could show up. They explained about the process and gave us options for the body. They even wanted to make a clay print of her paw print to remember her by included in the service. Highly recommend. read more

The doctors and technical staff here are great! They treated my cat, told me what they would do for their own animal (which was humorous as they conflicted with each other) and followed up days later when I had questions. I was impressed that the place seemed clean and my cat was comfortable with all the people that treated her. read more

I first came to this place after my dog found her way into a bag of manure/bone-meal fertilizer and proceeded to eat about two pounds of its contents. On that occasion, they were able to accept her immediately and to keep her overnight so as to treat her dehydration and monitor her condition. Since then, they have become my go-to vet. As a working stiff, I have appreciated their great operating hours and have been especially impressed with the kindness and knowledge of the vets, vet techs, and front desk staff. Given that my increasingly crotchety, elderly dog is sort of hit or miss with other dogs, I also like how they have a room ready for your dog right when you enter. read more

If you love your pet, I emplore you not to bring them here. I started going here 15 years ago when I rescued my dog when she was only 2 weeks old and didn't know what to do. Back then this was the place to go for reasonabley proceed friendly informative service. Then I gained another dog and started bringing her here as well. Things started to change roughly 2010-2012 here. Prices went up, when every I called was always put on hold for long lengths of time, service became very unfriendly and turned into more of a guessing game than treating and diagnosing. Records were also never correct or seemed to always be very or off date. I put up with it because I could easily walk or drive my did there from where I lived and the dogs just felt like they knew the place since they had been going there their whole life. Last year we had to put one of the girls down and doctor Curtis treated us well. Now 3 months ago our last dogs health took a turn for the worst and it really became a game of either guessing, putting her down or thousands of dollars of tests that she may not love through. Last Sunday she passed just hours after we brought our new born soon home from there hospital. I know beechwold vet was closed that day so I took her body to med vet where they took care of everything. I called at let beechwold vet know what happened and to maybe expect a call from med vet. It's been almost a week and never got a call of condolences or anything. I just finished dropping of a larger amount of food, treats, toys, bowls, cages and other pretty related items making multiple trips in and out. Not only did I not get a thank you, I didn't even get a hello from any of the staff members sitting at the front desk. I guess it goes to show one they can't get any more money out of you they are down with you. read more

I am giving 3 stars because I do really enjoy our vet Dr Thomas. That being said there is one lady that works the desk that isn't very kind. I am not alone in this opinion. It's stressful enough when your pup isn't feeling good. read more

Usually this hospital has employees that have compassion and are wonderful but Monday morning on 6/4/2018 I had had a negative experience with one woman working the desk on the phone. Our dog is a patient there and over the weekend she had an emergency that she needed to be seen.Unfortunately they were booked up and full. I asked this person if she could call us if a doctor would become available.She refused and was pretty nasty and condescending about it. Our dog is being treated there for a serious condition and we were afraid that this condition may have a serious complication that could be life threatening and we did not need this person to treat us in such a callous manner.On a positive note the doctors there are wonderful. read more

I had the worst experience at this vet. I stayed with them for a full year and had issues every visit. I adopted a shelter puppy and the first visit they never checked for worms, only for my puppy to get super sick a month later since he was so heavily affected. The next visit, they told me that he finished his puppy boosters. After checking the receipt a week later, I saw that they gave him the wrong shot and my puppy was not fully vaccinated. After talking to three different people, they finally admitted their mistake in giving my dog a Lepto vaccine instead of the DHPP vaccine. The finally straw was when my puppy was tested for Lyme's disease and tested positive. The doctor said that she would not write a script until my puppy was showing more severe signs of lyme. Once he was showing signs a month later, the vet refused to write a script. It was the most horrifying experience ever- I definitely do not recommend this vet. read more

I came to Beechwold with my dog, Indy, and my cat entourage soon followed. I love coming here-the techs are nice, the doctors are wonderful, and while not the cheapest in town, neither are they the most expensive. They offer an array of services, from nail clipping (complimentary!) and ear cleaning (also complimentary!), to x-rays and MRI's. I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

The vets are very friendly and take very good care of my dogs whenever we go. Women working up front are a little rude especially when people try to check in or out, they act like you are inconveniencing them, but for the most part they are wonderful to my dogs. read more

Beechwold was so good to my very high-energy, reactive dog. My boxer-lab mix saw both Dr. Weisgerber and Dr. Stewart. They were always available when I needed them for routine care as well as special visits. I'd highly recommend them to anyone in Columbus. read more

I love this vet hospital. Every visit they've remembered me and my cat, they know his history already, and they answer ALL of my questions. I was concerned with a friend of mine's cat giving a disease to mine, and they calmly answered everything and offered to see my cat just in case. All of the Dr's at Beechwold are exceptional!! I have a bulldog and have had many issues with her and the entire staff have always been excellent. They were understanding when I was stressed and needed reassurances, they were thorough in their explanations, they were patient when asked questions (which may or may not have included daily phone calls), and they genuinely care about your pets wellbeing. I am NEVER satisfied with the vet... never. I decided to try Beechwold after trying several other vets in town. Some friends stated they were really happy with the service here, so I thought it was worth a shot. I cannot begin to explain how kind, generous, and wonderful the staff is!!! The vet was completely honest from the first second of meeting my cat. They were upfront with the cost of care and gave me several options to meet my needs. After learning that my cat was completely filled with cancer and that the most humane option was putting him to sleep, I was devastated! The staff did everything in their power to make this experience as comfortable as possible for me and my cat. They gave several options for putting him down, paying the bill, how to treat his remains, and even allowed me to sneak out the employee entrance so I wouldn't have to face a waiting room of strangers while crying. I even received a hand-written note from the vet a few days later! I am in love with this place, and that is saying a lot from someone who NEVER likes the vet. read more

First off let me list the great things about this place: its beautiful, the vet I used, (Dr. Curtis) was very helpful, informative and patient. What inspired me to write this post is the customer service. I called around looking for a vet and most of the vets helped with VPI pet insurance claim forms and took care of filing and claiming for you. Not Beechwold. They refused to send a fax off, and suggested mailing it instead (what does it cost to fax?). The vet clearly had no idea how to fill out the forms. I used boarding with them twice. Each time, I had specific instructions on how and when to feed my cat. They didn't use the food I provided, which thankfully isn't a life threatening thing; had my animal had a condition that required special attention I would feel completely uncomfortable leaving him there. They say they take care of diabetic and geriatric and special needs animals, but can't even get the feeding down right? I brought a blanket from home to put in my cat's crate, it wasn't used. Either time. It blows my mind because they recommend this sort of thing! Its completely frustrating to get hassled over minor things like a insurance claim form, and then have your instructions completely ignored. I left 6 (small cans) of cat food for 2 days; when I picked him up, there were 4 cans left. So they fed him 2 cans in 2 days. Not cool, finding a different vet- no matter how awesome Dr. Curtis was. read more

As a new resident of Columbus and in need of a new vet, I was recommended to Beechwold by a friend. It was an excellent experience!!! Everyone was so nice and accommodating. Dr. French was great and the tech Tera was awesome as well. They all explained what they were going to do to treat my pet as well as the price. It was such a great experience, if only *my* physician were as nice, thorough and attentive as Dr. French!!!! My pet will most definitely be a patient for as long as we are residing in or around Columbus. read more

I will never return. I came here with my new puppy on the day I got her, and was told that if I wasn't too attached I should try to return her. Being her first day away from her mother, she was slightly fearful. She also had a juvenile heart murmur that is very common in Newfoundland puppies. I told her I had no plan to return her and asked her what I can do to address or help either of these issues. I was again told that the breeder should take her back because it could cost me a lot of money in the long run. This vet was very cold-hearted and not understanding. (Not super relevant but sort of bothered me - she had heels on. Not the kind of vet to get on the ground with your dog if necessary) I made a commitment to this dog, and even after I made that clear, I was not given any sound advice. My new vet is AMAZING and had so much faith in my pup. She's now thriving and doing amazing. I'm so happy I didn't listen to this vet and return her to the breeder. Find a better vet. read more

We used Beechwold for over 15 years and across two pairs of dogs. We always thought we were getting good service at a fair price ... that is until we went elsewhere and had something to compare them with. All I can say is this, after 6 years of very little success with Beechwold our Cocker's seizures are now under control because my CURRENT vet apparently is doing a better job .... at 2 thirds the price (Probably because my new vet isn't paying for a fancy new building.) read more

This is by far one of the best vets we have gone to. They are now our primary vet for our three rescue pit bulls. The greatest part about this place is the fact that they remember you. It had been almost a year and a half since we had our oldest dogs salivary glands tested because they were abnormally large. You would think a typical vet would forget that type of thing, but the second we brought him in for a check up the vet gave me an article she found online about the causes of his enlarged salivary glands. She went on about the reasons they might be the way they are and gave me some awesome info. She genuinely cared about my dogs health. I recommend this vet especially for people with sensitive animals who are afraid of the vet. They are so mild mannered here and keep my dog calm. That means so much. 5 stars for sure! read more
