I used it today and the beef tenderloin to make my first attempt at Beef Wellington. The tenderloin was great and worked well with the Wellington. I would come here again if I were around Merrick.

After being disappointed with the selection of meat at my local supermarket I decided to check them out. When I entered the store I was immediately impressed by how clean and well organized it is, and Dave's guitar selection adds to the homey eclectic ambiance. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and they'll accommodate customer preferences. After looking around I decided to purchase a rack of lamb, 2 pieces of wild salmon and cooked chicken fingers. Everything was top quality prime, fresh and scrumptious. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that Suburbia's prices are on par with local supermarkets for much better quality. You can't go wrong! Nuts & Bolts: Suburbia currently offers curbside pickup, delivery and in-store shopping with strict social distancing and a max of 3 customers allowed in at once. They're open 6 days/week (closed Wednesdays) at convenient hours with early opening times (7:30 as of this writing). There's parking on the street and a side lot. So happy to carry on the family tradition of shopping at Suburbia, a cool locally owned small business. I plan to be a regular going forward.

Anyone who knows me knows Red tomato sauce or gravy as many of my Italian friends would call it, isn't my favorite. Although for the sake of a quick Sunday pasta meal for my Mr, figured to give it a try, along with some of their fresh stuffed shells. Happy and glad to report I found a freshly made red tomato sauce that my tastebuds and stomach can handle. It wasn't overly spiced or thickened with various meats/vegetables/bread which typically shys me away from it. It was mentioned that I was getting one of the last containers for the day that had a meatball and sausage in it, but not chopped or sliced up, so that worked for me as it could be taken out and eaten separately. (The meatball was pretty tasty ;) I would recommend giving this location a try for anyone with a finicky red sauce eater like me. Not to mention their stuffed shells were indeed on point. ;) I look forward to popping in again and seeing what else I can try, as the employees behind the counter were kind and quick about servicing us and location appeared kept neat and clean.

It's that time again! When it's Hubs' birthday, we gather the boys and have a feast of meat. Just…read moredays before, my friend sent me the picture I posted from us 10 years ago when we started the tradition. The meats hit the same. I still get the mixed kebab because the all you can eat is way too much for me. Don't sleep on the collard greens. I would order an extra serving so you can mix them with eggs in the morning. Did we wait an hour for our table? Yes, but it was well worth it. There was a spot at the bar where we can chill and all catch up with the peeps we hadn't seen in a min. It was nice to have that time because there was silence when we sat and got our food. We were hungry. One thing I will say, they took away the bowls of olives. I mean I was probably the only one that looked forward to them, so I get it. But holla at me if you feel the same way. Until next year Carvalhos

I was really excited about trying this spot since it was recommended by a friend…read more The big plus is that they have a private parking lot. They do not take reservations on the weekends so be prepared to wait 35-40 minutes for a table since it tends to get packed in the evening. They do have a big bar to have a drink and wait in the meantime. The staff is very friendly and attentive which I loved, they made sure our table was clean and our drinks were filled. Now the food, their appetizers that they bring to the table were just ok; the sweet plantains, rice and beans were pretty good. The French fries were undercooked which no one at the table touched. The salad could have used a little more color but the dressing was really good. The meats themselves were good but could better. I really enjoyed their picanha; it was cooked a perfectly medium. It was juicy and flavorful. The chicken legs and turkey wrapped in bacon were so delicious and well seasoned. When it came to the skirt steak, short ribs and other cuts of meat, I felt like they were on the drier side and not as tasty. They never asked how we liked it cooked (medium or well done) so we just got whichever temperature they were served. I was also disappointed they didn't have chicken hearts since I always look forward to those when I go to a rodizio. Each person rodizio is $54 which is definitely on the higher end and the prices on their website are outdated. I would probably not return; there are more affordable rodizio with higher end cuts.

This place has truly delicious food. It is an assuming store/storefront where most thing are…read morealready packaged but holy moly did it exceed my already high expectations. A friend recommended it and despite her high praise, even she undersold it. You must get the hummus (I opted for the pine nut) and Turkish eggplant dip (a small container of each will run you $9-10 so it is not cheap but it is worth it). Each dip has the perfect thickness (not to watery or too thick) and was delicious. I heard good things about the bourekas and they had a new brisket boureka out so I bought a pack (10 or so in the package for $22, sold frozen). You heat them in the oven or toaster oven at 350 degrees for 20min. They were absolutely delicious, perfect texture (crunchy outside, soft inside) and the meat inside had so much flavor. For dessert we bought the baklava and pistachio mamoul. Everyone raved about the baklava and I really liked the pistacho mamoul as they were not too sweet (don't let the powdered sugar on the outside fool you). A very kind lady helped me find everything (though if you spend 5min walking around the store which is not that big, you can find everything yourself). Again, everything we bought was absolutely delicious and while it is not inexpensive, you get your money's worth. Absolutely worth checking out, I would be a regular here.
