Nice little bottle shop near the Durham Central Park where the farmer's market is. It's not a huge space and the selection is decent but not overwhelming. I believe they occasionally host events and entertainment but I'm not 100% sure. In addition to cans and bottles, you can also order from a selection on tap. Try it out if you're in the area. But remember, it's small and has some but not a ton of seating. read more

What a great new spot in Durham close to the farmers market and the DIY district! I noticed an empty growler sitting in my house and had recently heard about "growler" stores popping up, so I gave Beer Durham a call to see if they could fill up my growler--the reply was yes, any brand, any type, bring it in! I arrived in the store and was quickly greeted by the staff who took my growler to sanitize before filling. While we were waiting the man behind the bar started asking us what we enjoy and giving us suggestions around the store. Very knowledgeable staff and extremely helpful, the "bar tender" gave us several samples of beer from the twenty taps to help us decide what we'd fill our growler with. The crowd in the store felt a bit older but there were several tables to sit at and the store is laid out well, I don't think I would feel crowded easily. Prices are clearly listed on the paper draft list in 7oz, 13oz and 32oz or 64 oz growler fills. While the draft list is extensive and laid out by type, the actual quantity of bottled beer is not as extensive as some of the other beers stores in the area. However, in their benefit, they have top quality! I also saw them offering flights to a couple clients--next time I'll have to find the prices on that. As the store grows and becomes more well known in the area I hope they'll add a cooler for bottled beer; while there's an excellent selection on tap, there's always that one person that wants a specific bottled beer. Beer Durham is located in the office building at corner of Hunt & Morris streets. Next to the Durham Framers Market parking lot. A little hard to find unless you walk the neighborhood a lot. They have a nice selection - 20 - beers on rotating tap. Available as a 7 or 13 oz pour to stay. 32 or 64 oz to go. The day I stopped by it was screaming hot out and the air conditioning, classy atmosphere and cold beers made it hard to leave. I did not feel creepy about being a woman alone enjoying a beer. Their prices are a bit higher than some of the downtown bars (price is same but only 13 oz vs a pint.). Price on bottles about the same as Sam's. So nice to have a spot with such variety on tap. Residents of West Village need to wander over! Hope that popularity has them expending their limited hours. read more

Beer Durham is a great bottle shop downtown! Their staff is very knowledgeable and extremely kind. They are serious about Covid safety guidelines. I've never felt unsafe. And their staff, again, is just amazing and make grabbing a craft beer six pack, a refreshing and neighborly experience. CJ specifically helped us and gave us the best service! This is a very nice bottle shop and tap room near Durham Central Park with some 20 rotating taps of various brands and styles of beer and a great selection of bottles and cans for purchase, in addition to crowlers and growlers of what's on tap. What a cool place! I love the fact that they offer beer by the tap. I stopped in to check out the variety of beer and happened to buy a 32 oz jug of beer from the tap. This is a genius concept! I don't think I will ever drink beer from the can or bottle anymore. The variety was perfect! It was a great range of beer but I went with a sour beer. I moved to Durham last week from South Florida and found Beer Durham while exploring the area. The owners are so friendly and it's clear they're passionate about their business. I've been here 3 or 4 times since moving and each time had, and bought, some awesome beers. Today my wife and I attended the 1st anniversary party and were treated to delicious food and good music while enjoying some really great beers on tap, favourites being the Highland Black Mocha Stout Wee Kettle Project (phew) and the Evil Twin Falco. We are in walking distance to this place it's definitely going to be a regular haunt. read more

Beer Durham is located right next to the Durham Farmer's Market and conveniently just a hop, skip and a jump away from my office. I stopped in after work for a drink and was impressed with their draft selection. A good variety of some great beers. The bottle selection is small, but solid, and will hopefully grow a little in time. The store isn't huge, but I think they are making very good use of the space. The owner is extremely friendly and will personally help you find whatever you are looking for. On Saturday's they have a food truck parked outside while the Farmer's Market is going on. We stopped in on a Saturday, and it was not very busy. We ordered taster flights, which it seemed to take forever and ever to get. It appeared as though they were dealing with retail traffic and putting us on the lower priority list. The owner is very nice and speaks fluent beer. I was not happy with one of my selections, and didn't drink much of it at all. The owner wanted to replace it. I declined, admitting that the beer itself was fine, just not my style. The owner insisted and proceeded to give me samples/tastes of three more beers. Inventory needs to fill out a little bit, but this is a good alternative. I was traveling in the area from Arizona and was looking for some local / regional beers that I can't find in the Southwest. Found this place via Yelp and it was awesome. They have a great selection of local beer, regional beer and a nice variety of craft beers from all over the US. The shop was well lit, prices clearly marked (6 packs or by individual bottles), and was clean. This isn't some sketchy liquor shop. The owner (I think) personally helped me to choose a good variety of brews I have never had before. He is very knowledgeable and super friendly. If I lived here in Durham, I would buy my beer from here all the time. read more

So they have good beers on tap - but not quite a bar. So it's mostly a beer shop with a good selection but I'm kinda amazed how unpractical it is for being picking up beer. There's only one small fridge for refrigerated beers, so I don't really want to pick up beers there because almost all of them are warm. So they have a tap and I can get growlers - but they don't accept growler deposits. So if I have left growlers at home then I have to buy a new growler every time I want to pick up beer on my way home home or on my way out, then I'll end up with a bunch of growlers and wasted money. Better to end up going to a bar or to a store that refrigerates beer or at the least gives me my money back for a growler. Nice people and cute shop but I really wish they did one of the things I need. read more

This is our go-to spot for a quick sip and an amazing beer selection! Their rotating fridge always has something delicious, and we love seeing new brews from California to Maine and back. The beers on tap rotate frequently, and offer a wide variety. They also do a fantastic job highlighting local breweries, and the staff are very easygoing and knowledgable with recommendations. Stopped by Beer Durham yesterday for a quick growler refill. Plenty of varieties to choose from and a setup not too unlike the new Sam's location. While there, I sampled the Coronado Jurata baltic porter, the Double Barley Abby's Amber, and the Bruery Mischief before ultimately filling my growler with the Abby's Amber. To be honest, the current tap selection wasn't exactly my cup of tea but I love the location, the service was friendly, and I'll absolutely be back to see what's new on draft. read more

Beer Durham has been a wonderful addition to the north side of downtown. They have an expertly curated selection of mid to high level beers ranging from straight lagers and ales up through IPAs, Belgians and seasonal brews. They also have a great set of rotating taps that you can sample as you browse. My wife and I love to visit on weekends. It's a short walk from our neighborhood in Old North. It's a very friendly atmosphere whether you're there to pick up a growler and single beer or hang out for a pint inside or out. read more

Beer Durham is a small bottle shop and tap room. They have a private lot for parking. Inside its clean and well layed out, with a few high top tables. Service was fast and friendly, and I got several samples of beers on tap with no problem. They have an interesting tap list which rotates. There is always something interesting on tap to try as well as seasonals. I browsed the isles while enjoying my beer. How awesome is that? Prices are a little high, but with great service and selection it will be a regular on my list of stops. Great little place! read more

I'll have to give this place props for having a decent selection of beers on hand, an impressive row of taps, and a road bike with a growler holster slung under the top tube sitting over by the wall, but the service leaves something to be desired. The place seems pretty upscale compared to other beer-centric shops we patronize. My wife and I were not feeling especially welcome there--the few patrons in the place having an after-work brew sort of give you the "who are you and what are you doing in our place" once-over when you come in, and the woman at the counter gave off an initial vibe like she didn't especially want our business, but when I whipped out my debit card, she came around long enough to complete the transaction. It's not like we were some yahoos walking in off the street to loiter and gawk at the selection on the shelves, we're both middle-aged professionals with a reasonable amount of discretionary income that love craft brews. They apparently sell primarily singles and 6-packs, because everything on the shelves had a single price and a 6-pack price shown. There were not any cases out on the floor that I recall. We didn't make it into the cooler to see what all was in there, we just paid for the 6-pack of Harpoon Brewery's UFO Big Squeeze Shandy that my wife had been looking for and headed on out. It was good to find what she'd been looking for, but I doubt we'll patronize this place again, because A.) we're not from Durham so it's not like we could pop by any old time, and B.) we were not made to feel like our business was particularly wanted there. read more

I went to Beer Durham the week they opened and took a friend from Chapel Hill. While the selection of beers on tap was impressive and the staff was friendly, I could not get over my shock at the $25 price tag for a 32 oz growler! (That's a little over 2 pints) And I was informed I now OWNED the growler, the $8 was not a deposit. This and the fact that the bottled beer that they offered was significantly higher than I could purchase at Sam's Quick Stop, means I'll likely not go back. But hey I now own a rather cute brown growler with a Bull insignia on it. read more
