So I went in not knowing anything prior about the musical. I've never seen the film before either as I think it's way before my time. However, I heard it was a Tim Burton creation , so it must be epic and also weird. I think the musical falls under weird. I liked the stage decor and theatrical display of everything , which was very creative! However, the humor isn't so much my kind of humor (a lot of dirty, kinda sexist jokes). But that is exactly the titular role's personality. The musical did a good job making him scary looking. Anyways, although this musicals' storyline also revolves around an adolescent's life, I don't think the musical is suitable for kids. In terms of seating, I was seated almost in the last row of orchestra (Row Y) . (FYI , I did win the lottery after being on standby) . Don't think it's the best seats in the house but definitely far from worse. By the way, i was sitting on velvet chairs, so I believe those are just placed there to serve as extra seating .

I an obsessed with this adaptation of Beetlejuice. It's hysterical, but still manages to be emotional and heartwarming. The songs were catchy, and enjoyable. Alex Brightman as Beetlejuice is just amazing. His high energy performance kept me engaged from start to finish. Keep in mind, this is not super kid friendly. There's a lot of inappropriate jokes, that maybe young kids won't get, but just keep that in mind when you're taking little ones. I went in expecting a good show, but left already looking forward to an excuse to go back and see it again!

I cannot believe this show will be closed in January! I enjoyed every second of it. The jokes were tied to modern times, which is so intelligent! This show is not for kids; you hear many curse words and adult jokes. Don't be afraid to express yourself and wear a costume to the show; there was a lot of Beetlejuice in the audience!

Better than the movie, in my opinion. My favorite parts of the show are Day-O and Jump in the Line. Beetle juice makes death funny and lively, if that is possible. Excellent singing and theatrics.

For my 500th Yelp review -- Beetlejuice will do! Dead is as dead does -- and this incarnation of Tim Burton's classic will leave you thoroughly alive on arrival! A wonderful romp! Replete with inventive staging and sets, Irreverent dialogue, cool music and outstanding ensemble vocals -- you will LOL - spontaneously clap -- and hoot and holler until you're hoarse. Don't miss this show. The Beetlejuice understudy starred in this midweek performance (Will Blum) and he was outstanding. Kudos Will Blum! Once again TDF hit it out of the park - with center orchestra seats about 10 rows back. I would say perfect - if not for the corpulent human with an impossibly enormous Hagrid sized head seated directly in front of me. Worse still, this fellow kept bobbing his noggin side to side throughout the performance -- annoyingly obscuring the view from my otherwise outstanding seats. Oh well. I practiced my sideways glance and patience. Still working on my chi folks. :)) Top Top: I think this show is best viewed from the front row of the center mezzanine - where you get a better view of the spectacular sets -- and awesome light show. The house acoustics are great no matter where you sit.

The play was musical colorful creative but incredibly loud and unfortunately a lot of incredibly loud screaming people in the audience. $18 for a Coke and a candy bar because I actually was falling asleep during the first half. the guy next to me was so obnoxious and every 40 seconds had some dorky dopey loud laugh that sounded so fake and it made the play incredibly painful to watch and definitely not worth $159.00 The seats were great but it was all way too much.

TL;DR--Aside from sharing many of the same plot points, characters, and one-line zingers, the Winter Garden's current production and Tim Burton's 1988 film appear to have little in common: the musical has been stripped of any foreboding overtones and given the same Halloween theme-park treatment that The Addams Family stage adaptation was given. The songs are catchy and the show's visual elements are eye-popping, but after 2.5 hours the whole affairs feels like an enjoyable but forgettable piece of escapist entertainment. As one may expect, Broadway Beetlejuice is equal parts zebra stripes and Tony-nominated razzmatazz--featuring a set list of songs about familiar themes such as teenage angst, life unfulfilled, misplaced ambitions, and familial dysfunction. (Ironically, the show isn't really about death at all and treats mortality as another plot device.) Be sure to look out for your favorite tropes as well: A trapdoor. A harness. Stunt doubles. A sweet couple who act as parental surrogates to a lonely and misunderstood teenage heroine. An overabundance of jokes that break the fourth wall. Jill Abramovitz playing various grandmotherly characters. A tap number after the intermission to keep the audience awake? Check. Followed by a ballad that maybe puts that same audience to sleep? Check. While the show is tonally inconsistent and never manages to measure up in the storytelling department, it's still full of surprises big and small--particularly the various puppets designed by Michael Curry (many based on those in the film) and scenic design of the Netherworld, to name a few. Spoiler: there's a confetti cannon. Individual performances are also noteworthy: Alex Brightman and Leslie Kritzer defty showcase a wide range of character voices and vocal styles, often within the same breath. Sophia Ann Caruso's preternatural powerhouse vocals are explosive as they are controlled. Dana Steingold's solo about girl scout cookies is the only thing that kept me awake during the second act. Also, I just love Kerry Butler. I found the Winter Garden's box office staff and ushers to be friendlier and more capable than those at some other Broadway theaters. This being said, this show is far from child-friendly: if the movie was any indication, most of the humor, vocabulary, and subject matter in this musical adaptation would probably be too inappropriate or obscure for anyone not old enough to know what the electoral college is. As other reviewers have noted, many of the partial-view seats in even-numbered orchestra will miss out on some of the action happening stage left, though the seats themselves have generous width and pitch. Booster seats are available for those seated in the very first row (or for your small chlidren, if you were reckless enough to bring them). As expected, some of the souvenir merchandise costs more than what you probably paid for your seat (e.g. $80 for a hoodie). But if you're like me, you'll probably spend all of intermission waiting in the line that snakes up or down the stairs to the restrooms, wondering what possessed the architects of the building to put restrooms in the basement.

We didn't know what to expect. Friends told us that it was a fast paced, electrifying musical. They were correct! Our tickets were stage left, orchestra. We could see & hear everything well. The first song was about death - irreverent & hysterical. The first appearance of the title character was rapid fire dialogue & pitch perfect vocalization. We were hooked! The pace never waned and the story got better & better. It's been a long time since we saw the movie. It seems as if the plot and story mirrored the film well, with alterations that only improved it. All of the characters were sensational with perfect timing and vocalizing. The sets were colorful, fun, & moved seamlessly about the stage in perfect rhythms. The audience was as wrapped up in the action as we were. By the time the actors took their curtain calls, all of us were on our feet cheering and applauding. It was THAT good! We would see it again. And again!

    - CAPTIVATING. ELECTRIFYING. HILARIOUS. - Dear Evan Hansen emotion meets Frozen/Aladdin magic meets Book of Mormon humor - This is truly a show - First act = 1hour, 20min intermission, Second act = 1hour - Apparently it deviates from the movie (I haven't seen it) but I loved the storyline nonetheless - Beetlejuice was of course the highlight of the show - Constant laughter from the audience - Would not recommend for younger kids since there are some 'scarier' scenes (amputation) and quite a bit of swearing - Their run at the Winter Garden ends June 6, 2020 so get tickets while you can! Hopefully they can move to another theater.

BeetleJuice is one of those eventful broadway musical that you'll never forget. You'll find yourself laughing from the beginning of the show to the very end and still want to more. For starters, BeetleJuice is full of energy, wicked and he literally engages with the audience throughout the entire show. With that said if you are sitting in the front, be alert and get ready to be part of the the play. It'll be great so come with a sense of humor. BeetleJuice the musical's theme is far from the movie theme. Keep that in mind prior to booking tickets to see the show. Overall if you are one of those who is open to creativeness then what you are waiting for definitely book tickets right now. Honestly don't worry about where you are sitting in the auditorium, you'll absolutely have an awesome view of the stage. Overall, BeetleJuice is beyond amazing and will totally rock your world. I feel as though you must be a BeetleJuice fan to fully appreciate the show.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! I nearly passed out when I heard Beetlejuice was coming to Broadway. This was one of my favorite movies ever! And the play was so much fun. It was so funny and deserved the standing ovation it recieved. I would have liked to see Beetlejuice in more makeup as he barely had any on but he embodied the character brilliantly. The music, costumes, stage set, & cast were magnificent. It's a definite must see. It is a bit vulgar but it's suitable for teen children. It was definitely worth the money... Get tickets and enjoy!

When I found out Beetlejuice was coming to Broadway I knew I had to go see it and I was not disappointed. This play was funny and entertaining. Beetlejuice was funny throughout the entire show. Making subtle references to current events made it even better. This show is not for the people who are very sensitive because they do curse and make sexual references ( wouldn't recommend it for kids). Lydia was amazing. Her vocals. Her acting. She is very talented. The entire cast was amazing and talented. Definitely worth the money!
