Some of the best pizza you will get in the city next to Giordanos! I usually fight back and forth over which is better. Their pizza comes in square slices and melt in your mouth. I usually get the sausage and cheese. The only knock on this place is the parking. The parking space is very small and can be hellacious to get out of at times. They have more locations throughout the south suburbs, but this is one of the oldest locations. If you are ever in the south burbs check this place out! read more

I haven't been happy with the pizza the last 3 times I ordered so we decided to try burgers. On-line ordering indicated the burgers would be ready for pick up in 20 minutes -- it took 55 minutes. The bottom of my bun was sliced in half. Cook did not know the difference between well-done and a hockey puck. I didn't go in to get our slice and soda, so I can't comment on the interior or the service. Their parking is on the back of this establishment, which is not a problem, but to be noted. When we got there it was only 1 slice of sausage my bf informed me we would have to wait 10 minutes for another sausage pie or just take a cheese slice. I'm sure this 10 minutes would have been worth it for the fresh out of the oven pizza, but we were dying! The pizza was yummy as usual! My family has been ordering pizza from here for as long as I can remember. I love that they offer slices and have lots of coupons on their free calendars that they offer to Big Cheese members. I do miss collecting those coupons from them to redeem for merch, but nowadays I'd rather have $$ off my orders. Sooooo we're here RIGHT now, this ditzy server Lina has to be the most unbothered server EVER! She brought out the pizza, and left. She didn't serve us our first slice as I've always experienced. We had to hunt her down for a refill on the water. We had to hunt her down to tell her the pizza wasn't hot. She asked US what did we want to have happen. Ummmmm we want a HOT DAMN PIZZA! Pizza was as tasty as expected from a Beggars location. It was a pretty straightforward pickup experience.

My Granddaughter and I stopped in to order Spaghetti and meatballs on the way to the airport. When we ordered we were told it should be ready in 15 minutes which gave us enough time to possibly eat it there and leave. After multiple times of asking if the meal was cooked and ready 40 minutes has passed and we had to go to the airport. Without any one of the multiple employees showing any concerns or any attempt to apologize I took a refund and left. Beggars pizza is a place my parents had gone to for many years who especially liked the tomato cheese bread. This place was much better when Linda was managing it. Staff did what they were suppose too, orders weren't getting messed up. I've been eating beggars my whole life and never have problems unless I order from this location. But I ordered from western the past 2 nights and both times my orders were missing things that I ordered and paid for. And both times at least 1 thing was wrong with my order. Maybe if the cooks spent less time smoking weed in the parking lot, orders would come out the way they should and not missing items. Ordered the extra thin turkey sausage pizza. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised that the turkey sausage was very delicious. The prices are a bit high but next time I know to order a small when it's just me eating because it is plenty of pizza in a small but way too much in a medium. I've been ordering from beggars for over 20 years. Today I ordered a taco pizza which I have ordered many times. It was SOAKED! The cook obviously didn't drain the lettuce and tomatoes. The deep dish cheese pizza was surprisingly good. We also had BBQ wings and fries for an app. They were also very good and piping hot. This was not our first choice for pizza last night, but a sequence of uncontrollable events landed us here. I gave it three stars because the inside is divey and there are no televisions. On Saturday night during college football season, that is not acceptable. My wife understands. More important however, was the fact that most patrons surrounding us were engulfed in conversations about fighting, drinking alcohol and baby-momma baby-daddy drama. We weren't trying to eavesdrop but couldn't help but hear. Then, Quintrell - Shante nem' really got started and the decibel level began to escalate as the foul language and laughter increased. That was our cue to leave. The restaurant had a police officer seated, who I'm assuming was the security element, not a diner, and the servers were excellent. Before beginning my pizza place review, I think it's only right that you know my pizza preferences: Giordano's for a meaty, hearty thin crust pizza. Gino's East for thin or deep dish with vegetable ingredients (i.e. spinach and mushroom, a supreme, etc.) and/or if I'm in the mood for a garlicy sausage and crispy crust. Uno's for my deep dish fix with butter crust. Malnati's only on occasion when I feel like switching it up. I dislike Edwardo's because the crust tastes like cardboard to me. My Pi is too buttery, but it's also pretty good. Pizza-Ria is kinda bland. Little Caesar's has terrible sauce and cheap ingredients, but daym does it taste good the second day out of the refrigerator. Domino's pan is oooook (at least while I was in my small college town), while their thin crust is the one of the worst pizzas I've ever eaten from a restaurant. Oddly, there are no reviews for Beggars, the southside pizza staple ... next to Aurelio's, Phil's, etc. of course. Beggars is a chain. They slather on the not-too-sweet sauce and go very HEAVY on the cheese. I am writing about only the thin crust, too! You'd think it was a pan pizza with how heavy these slices are. This location offers pies both by the slice (thin only) and whole pie. The Beggars about 1.5 miles west on 127th offers a bigger seating area and a bar. But this location's seating should suffice for parties of 6 or less. I've only ordered thin crust slices and whole pizzas here, and I don't even know if they offer anything else on the menu...heh. But I do know their previously mentioned location also offers pastas and sandwiches... and more consistent pizza. I have no idea why. If you've never tried Beggars, come here and pick up a slice to go. Almost everybody on the south side loves it, but I think it's only ok. More is not always better IMHO. The formula of excessive amounts of ingredients sometimes go awry, especially when cheese clearly masks every other topping on the pizza. This also creates an overly greasy pizza at times. I have ordered only sausage pizza on my girlfriend's insistence, so I can't comment on the freshness of other toppings. The sausage has decently balanced flavor, but I can't pinpoint what I dislike about it! The crust is a step down from Giordano's, too. The weird thing is all of this negativity quickly dissolves when Beggar's does get it right. Ingredient volumes are heavy, but balanced. The extra tomato sauce complements the extra cheese and toppings. Crust is not burnt, soggy, or too salty. The sausage does stay the same though...heh. So this Beggar's location does churn out pretty good pizza, just inconsistently (about 30% bad, 70% good). read more

Last weekend I took a walk on the South Side.. And the coloured girls go Doo do doo do doo do do doo.... Okay, I was informed that we needed to order our pizza "easy on the sauce, well done" other wise it would be slathered in sauce. We had a sausage, garlic and mushroom pizza and it was delish! The ingredients were the best part.. chunky and fresh. Just as good as any of the usual suspects (Gino's East, Giordanos, Salernos, etc.). Beggar's Pizza probably one of my top pizzas. I can't really tell you why but they have really great pizza and even though I would say it is a bit overpriced you definitely get your moneys worth on taste and satisfaction. Let's just say I no longer touch Pizza Hut, Domino's, etc as they just don't do the trick when it comes to preparing a great pie. They have several locations on the south side of Chicago. I have been to both the Blue Island and Oak Forest locations and they are really nice places. The dining rooms can get kind of loud when they are full but other than that it is a good atmosphere for enjoying that pie. I also recommend the Cheddar Jalapeno Poppers and the Cheesy Potato Munchers for appetizers. read more

Beggar's was my "go to" pizza! But the price has gone up dramatically (+$50 for 2 large pizzas!!!) and the TASTE is different! I didn't like the taste!!! It tastes like a frozen pizza! :( Too bad! This review is more about customer service. So, I ordered a medium pizza, 3-piece chicken strips, and grilled caesar wrap. The pizza barely had sauce and one of the chicken strips was the size of my finger. When I called, I spoke to the Manager, Leo. He apologized for the matter and offered a family size pizza and another order of chicken strips. When I got to the establishment to pick up my food, to my surprise there were 2 orders of chicken strips and a box of fries on the house. I have ordered food countless times at this particular Beggar's location and this was the first time I had a minor issue. I wasn't expecting anything, just wanted to inform the Manager of the minor issue. But, I was so glad that my issue was taken care of without any problems. Leo was very nice and understanding. Came here after church on August 1st. I had a feeling something was off when we turned into the nearly empty parking lot. I said out loud "are they open?" My family and I go inside and asked if dine-in was open? We were told yes. But, they had no servers, no plates, no utensils, etc. Still puzzled why they were even open for dine-in... smh. If I have to serve myself, supply my own plates and utensils, I'll stay at home and cook. We left and went to Barrico's on Cicero that had everything Beggar's didn't have. read more

Gosh, to be home and have Chicago Style pizza anywhere. Yes, I'm forever grateful. This joint has been my go to place on many occasions when I grew up in Chicago. Talk about good, rich, nice crust pizza and this is it. One of many places I can note that I really enjoy as a favorite food place. I have to agree with Jeremy W. the sausage and cheese pizza is awesome. The mozzarella sticks aren't bad either Their marinara sauce is off the chain. 2/17/19-We ordered delivery from Beggar's as I wasn't feeling well and hubby said, "No cooking tonight." He got a combo sandwich, dry, on garlic bread and fries. I ordered mostaccioli w/meat sauce and a meatball. We both ordered the soup of the day, minestrone. Pros: delivery was quick and the man delivering it was so pleasant. The fries were surprisingly good for a pizza place and having been delivered in the cold. Hubby's order was correct. Cons: We've had better minestrone soup. Portions were small, especially for the price and the containers were barely half full. My order was missing the bread and butter mentioned in the carry out menu. The meat sauce was horrible! So acidic and bitter that I could only eat a couple of bites before my palate and stomach rebelled. I had to "doctor up" the leftovers to make it suitable to eat. Due to family phone calls and another matter, we didn't call them back that night but will do so this week. Better late than never. read more

This place is too small and doesn't need an outdoor eating section that no one sits in. The waitstaff can be clueless at times.
