A true hidden gem on the south side…read more Over the years, I've become a regular here because the pizza is SO DAMN GOOD!!! It's crispy, fresh and delicious. There's something about the sauce I can't even describe and if you like mushrooms, add them to your pizza, they're probably my favorite part. Even the leftovers taste good. What keeps me coming back though is the staff and overall vibe of the place. I love how the bartenders Dawn and Bill always remember my name. I love the wood paneling on the walls. I love being in charge of the jukebox, playing 80's hits and the occasional country song. I enjoy playing pool and actually don't mind that it's in the center of the place. It's cash only. There is an ATM though. If there isn't a game or sports on, they will be playing Ridiculousness, Impractical Jokers, the news or Wheel of Fortune. Everyone will be laughing, shouting out answers at the TV or bitching about corrupt politicians. Go on Monday for half price pizza. Go on Wednesday for free chicken and cheap drafts. Go on Friday for free hot dogs. Go to Frank's if you simply want to get out of the house. Tip your bartenders - they're good people. I've been coming here for years and I'll be returning for years. In fact, I'll be there next week!

He kept saying that he wanted me to try the pizza because he thought I'd like it. He said it reminded him of Fox's Pizza in Beverly, which is what we grew up on. Honestly, Frank's is somewhere I would've never gone without my brother's prompting. I don't frequent the area and rarely go to dive bars, but I was pleasantly surprised. The bar was quiet, clean, and comfortable. It's no frills for sure, but it's a bare-bones environment in the best way. My brother and a friend of ours were already there when I arrived. They'd already started a tab so, I just went to the bar and ordered. It was early (noon) so I didn't order alcohol. I only ordered Pepsi, but my brother and friend ordered drinks. They liked them and said they only cost $3.50. We ordered a large pepperoni and sausage pizza which arrived fairly quickly. it was piping hot too!! It was so hot that the cheese would just slide off the cracker-thin crust. The pizza was excellent though. My sister thought the cheese was too thick, but, I liked it. I thought it was fantastic. The meats were high quality and the sauce was tasty. Our friend liked it as well. The four of us ate the entire pizza. We visited on a Saturday afternoon, so the bar wasn't packed. There were a handful of regulars at the bar and a couple of people playing the slot machines. There was a baseball game playing on the TV, so it was fairly quiet. During peak hours I'd imagine that it gets pretty packed. The bartender and our server were cool, so I have no complaints about the service. I wouldn't say that Frank's pizza tastes like Fox's in Beverly, but I do understand why my bro made that comparison. They're both good for different reasons. I'd probably visit Frank's again in the future if given the choice.

We sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender. I didn't get her name, but she was personable and affable. My brother was familiar with her since he visits semi-regularly. My brother loves both the burgers and pizza. He claimed the pizza rivals Fox's pizza in Beverly, so naturally I had to check it out. The pizza is good, but it's no Fox's!! We ordered double pepperoni, which was perfectly thin and crispy. It was a little too greasy for me, but other than that, I have no complaints. I also had an amaretto stone sour, which was delicious. My brother had a drink as well, but I can't recall which one. He always orders it, though, so clearly the bartender prepares it to his liking. The bar has a welcoming neighborhood vibe. The bartender knew some people by name or face, but everyone was welcomed with open arms. The bill for was about $45, which is pretty standard nowadays. The pizza was very reasonable ($18), which was awesome. There are slot machines in the corner for all the eager gamblers. Next time I'll try the burgers!

We both love the pizza, and in fact, it's so good that we've hardly ever tried anything else. When we did stray off the pizza selection, the food has all been delicious. Contrary to popular belief, "Chicago Style" pan pizza isn't typically eaten every day by folks that live here. Everyone would be 1,000 pounds. The wife and I go to Louisa's probably 6-10 times a year because it's incredibly filling, but it NEVER disappoints. The service is always fantastic. I'm 99% sure the same family has owned it (Louisa's family - God rest her soul), so the whole "family vibe" is on full tilt at this place and it shows in their service. Servers who care about your business because the business itself is more than just a part time job. The restaurant is quaint, and is perfectly suited for either a date night or a full-on family function. Their side room is plant big enough to host a private party or event, and I know they often book that room for exactly that. But the real focus for us is the pizza. The pans that are used over and over again. The buttery crust that is always crispy and not too think. The ripe tomatoes that are always seasoned perfectly... the real of the show at Louisa's is their sausage. It's literally like none other we've ever had and we love it!! This place is a must try for locals that love pan pizza!

The greeter said that would be fine, seated us, and told us a server would be out shortly. When the server came to the table, she said, "Do you need a server? You ordered pizza to go. All I'm going to do is lay it on the table." She also said the pizza was already boxed and asked if we had paid. About five minutes later she brought the pizza out, and when I asked why it took a while if it was already boxed, she said she had to make sure I had paid -- even though we had already been asked that more than once. We were clearly dining in, yet no drinks were offered, no desserts were mentioned, and the server never checked on us during the meal. We ended up eating our entire meal with nothing to drink. After driving 10 hours and looking forward to eating at Beggars Pizza, this was extremely disappointing. Definitely not the level of service I expected.
