As I am trying all the Chinese buffets in Tulsa again to find my favorite, i am updating my review of Beijing Gourmet once again. Overall, Beijing Gourmet is an average Chinese buffet. It has the typical Chinese buffet entrees and a Mongolian grill and sushi, which I always skip. The Chinese buffet at the Beijing is good and mostly fresh. They also have crawfish which I tend to skip as well. I go to Won Korean BBQ and Hotpot for crawfish, highly recommended. Price is average, $14.99 for adult dinner. I do like the service at Beijing Gourmet and the location, right in my neighborhood. The restaurant itself looks nice so does that whole plaza. read more

We arrived a tad before noon -- totally cleared out in less than an hour. They Mongolian Grill looked enticing but no one used it while we were there The buffets were plentiful and thoughtfully filled for the busy lunch hour. All the regulars were available plus things like oysters on the half shell and crawfish which you normally don't expect. My dessert plate included Chinese mousse cake which was to die for. It alone could be worth a visit. But overall it pretty much just slightly missed the mark. Hubby loves Chinese buffets so I've had a lot. IMHO I wouldn't say "don't go", but I would advise keeping your expectations low. You can see from photos you will have lots of choices. I give it a generous three. I haven't been to a Chinese buffet in at least 10-15 years. My family does not like them, so when I had the chance to go by myself, I chose Beijing Gourmet. I arrived promptly at opening (11 am) to get first crack at hot, fresh variety of food. I was not disappointed. There are three bars of hot food, a long bar of desserts and sauces, a Mongolian grill bar and sushi bar, all included, the service was great, I never came back to the table to old food plates, and they kept my drink full. I paid $15.93 + tip for the buffet and drink which is an excellent deal in my opinion. The decor and feel are pretty traditional Chinese restaurant ambiance. My favorites were the dim sum, sushi, dumplings, and broccoli beef. Now that I know it includes Mongolian grill, I may be able to convince my husband to come next time! read more

My husband and I ate here a few months ago and didn't like the food much. I think last time we got there a little late, so the food might have sat out too long. This time, I came at 12 noon and without Dan who never liked Chinese buffets. I thought I might like it better without his influence. I did like it a little better, but not a lot. 2 1/2 stars would be more accurate. This time the soups were good. I tried a little bit of both the hot and sour and egg drop. The egg rolls and cream cheese won tons were better, but they didn't make it all the way up to good. I think maybe they had been out too long. Egg rolls and cream cheese wontons are my favorite part of Chinese buffets. I liked the hot mustard which I used to dip the egg roll in. The dishes with breaded chicken just did not work out. There was way too much breading and with some dishes, it was cooked so hard it was difficult to eat without a knife. A knife would have been useful for a number of dishes. The fried chicken strips and fried wings were greasy. They were both fried hard but there was still grease. Most of the food lacked flavor, had too much grease, and was cooked so hard it was difficult to eat. The ambiance and service were good. The food was better than my previous visit. I have hope it can become good. They're almost there. Perhaps if they didn't bring out so much food at a time, it would be stay fresh. The food I liked were the soups, steamed rice, rice noodles, vegetables in the stir fries, mushroom dishes, orange slices, and a very opaque orange jello. I was surprised I liked that jello dish so much because I'm not a jello fan. This was so opaque that I was curious. I frequented this restaurant for years while living in Tulsa. Now I'm living in choutau, and It's worth the 40 mile drive to eat at the best buffet restaurant in Tulsa and probably all of Oklahoma. I can assure you that the selection, and quality of taste of all dishes, and the Mongolian and sushi bar, cannot be beat. I lived in Hawaii for years, and there Chinese restaurants can't touch this establishment Sir. Let's just say if you love Chinese food like I do, and lived all over the globe during military Days, . This restaurant is the best and most affordable of any where I've eaten, . Even better than the restaurants in Hong Kong. Just do yourself a Big favor and come visit this buffet and tell me it's not great I actually told them they ought to raise the price a couple of dollars it's so good. My boyfriend and I have eaten here a few times when we're in a good mood. However, I was disappointed that the calorie or nutrition facts were not provided. The food is very delicious, but also a bit unhealthy. If you want to experience the best taste, visit between 11 AM and noon - that's when it's great! For several years this was the place my friends and I would gather for lunch before going to catch the latest new release film across the street. We generally enjoyed it and often looked forward to our next gathering here. Years have passed, most of my friends have since moved or passed away, Hollywood hasn't produced much worth gathering for, and it had been a few years since I'd visited Beijing Gourmet. Upon reconnecting with one of my friends, we decided to meet here for dinner. I was pleased to see that visually, nothing had changed. The decor was all the same. The Christmas decorations were still the same ones that had been there, untouched for years, and I was really excited to be hitting the buffet again. However, I was quite shocked at just how much the quality of the food had declined. I wish I could point to something and say, "This is what went wrong" or otherwise explain why I didn't care for it, but it's not that simple. The food just wasn't good anymore. All my favorite dishes that I'd missed so much, they just tasted different, and not in a good way. It really broke my heart. So now I am off in search of a new favorite Chinese buffet. I decided to try this for lunch. The food was good. They have some selections the other buffets do not have like dim sum, Mongolian Grill which I liked. now the service was something terrible the waitress. I don't even know who my person was I never saw her? I had to flag someone down to get a water and a straw, but the biggest issue I had was when I made my bowl and took it to the Mongolian grill. There was no one around. I waited and waited and the guy wasn't there. Finally he comes out from the back and then he tells me you had to put your bowl here, well there was no sign no information and guess what he wasn't there, so how was I supposed to know. Then as I'm eating my other food I look up at several people I'm trying to do the Mongolian grill but every time the guy is not there every time he makes something and he disappears into the back. what he's doing in the back I don't know, but he never stayed out there and multiple people would be looking around like what do I do? This is just unacceptable. I watched a fellow customer get splashed repeatedly with the waitresses clean up from another table. he got visibly upset and walked to the front. he tried to explain to them front of the house what happened but they didn't care to listen. he explained to them over and over again what happened and each time he grew more upset as they didn't get what the problem was. after about 10 mins he walked out angry. they all laughed when he walked out the door. even the waitress was laughing. highly disappointed in their behavior. listen to the man. address his concerns. at the least give him his meal for free and apologize to him! then you talk to your waitress and explain to her and teach her how to clear a table without splashing another guest. not that hard. instead he left very upset and will spread the word of what he went through. we come here often but after today we will not be back. Edited to add: went up front to pay and explained to the young lady that the man did in fact get splashed several times and he had every right to be upset. She said "yeah well he wanted a full refund" I said "that's the least you could do". She said "we don't give refunds". Visited 9/14/2024 soon as I entered this place I could feel the depression its needs a update so badly. the lighting was terrible and the carpet was begging for mercy to be cleaned. Now I will say the service wasn't actually too bad...they came by and grabbed the plates immediately when we were done and kept my glass full of water. However when I went to pay the host didn't care...she was on the phone they entire time and just said ticket to us, no was everything okay or any kind of friendly conversation. Now lets talk about the reason we were there which was the food....The best thing that I had was the butter potato which is pretty sad... Most of the food was old, cold, and more depressed than the actual place itself, the chicken tasted freezer burnt and was so old and tough that you couldn't even tear it apart with your own hands. After leaving this place my stomach was very unhappy with my decision and caused me to spend more time in the bathroom than I would like. The servers had attitudes when we asked for refills and they kept rushing us on our plates and brought the check out unprovoked and kinda were rushing us to hurry up and get out. Mind you my friend and I were only there for 20 minutes at most we both only had 1 plate and 2 refills so we weren't being demanding but it just was a very rude experience and I can't say I'd be back. This buffet is located at the corner of 61st and Memorial and shares the same plaza as TJ MAXX. Prices are listed at the door and Mon-Sat is $13.99 for an adult which wasn't bad. The lomein and chicken wings are good here but that's really it. The ice-cream is froyo and wasn't very stiff, it was slimy. It was mediocre and so was the service although the staff was nice. Total for 6 adults and 3 drinks was $120. I did the math and don't know how they came to that total unless gratuity was included but it was just on a written receipt so we didn't know. I happen to be one of the first people to eat here when they opened. Was going to the potato soup place next door but they had closed this one said opening soon. Checked time and sure nuf just opened. When. I got inside the lady said welcome to our first day. Well ok then. They have the largest selection I've ever seen on a buffet bar of any type. Was like 5 Mayne bars at say 15 foot long. Most have 2 maybe 3. Every one I had ever been to the Mongolian grill cost extra. When leaving she asked why I not try it. Said I only have the 10 and don't know how much more thst would be. She laughed said no. Everything is same price. Since then over the years I have been MANY times and got my money's worth from the grill. A few good deal for all the options you can get. Wow never had such HORRIBLE Chinese food. Went for Dinner and most of it tasted like it had been warmed up all day long. (Dry and overcooked). Sushi was the size of maybe a quarter - there were maybe 14 pieces left of all of it...and again no taste.. I tried several items. Only things edible were the Snow Shrimp and Pepper Chicken - everything else was dry and horrible. When we left for 2 of us with a small tip it was $42 - not looking to go back any time soon. I wanted to give this place more stars. We went once, and had a good experience. They were giving fresh gloves for every person walking up to the buffet. COVID-19 protections you know ... Sushi was not good. Mongolian BBQ was not good. In fact, I was a little scared I might get some kind of food poisoning, as the chicken was half thawed and they were using the same spatula for the beef. Not the most cleanliness in the area where you will pick what meets you want. Even with the above, we thought we would give it another try. Their price changes at a certain time of day. We arrived 14 minutes before that time of day. Before the server sat us, I asked to confirm the price. They said they were on the dinner price. I said we were still here before lunch. They said yes, but we've already put out the dinner food., Ummmmm, and my problem is? We went back and forth. They said if you do not eat any of the seafood, we will give you the lunch price. "Beijing Gourmet" has as about much gourmet in it as a mini putt putt course has PGA champions. Much of the food is not edible. All of it comes in buckets and bags from a distribution warehouse in a bigger city, which in turn comes from the various companies that the manager sources from. I confirmed this with an employee. This food then sits in a walk in fridge until it's ready to be heated up, then put under heat lamps for hours on the buffet. All of this is normal for a buffet, unfortunately. But here the food tastes even older. Much older. I imagine beyond the "best by" dates by a fair bit. I've never spit out more food in my life. Just hope my family doesn't get sick. read more

It also has a make your own, where you pick the meat, sauce and vegetables and it is cooked while you wait. Some days of the week they have boiled shrimp and crab legs, which is a great value. This place does a lot of business, which means there is a good turn over of the food. Nothing sits there all day. They are constantly bringing out fresh cooked dishes to fill the buffet line. This restaurant advertised that they took Covid-19 precautions by mandating masks and also the use of disposable gloves in their buffet. I would say more than 50% of the people dining there walked in without masks and paraded their stupid selves right up to the buffet with no masks and not bothering to put on gloves. I wore my mask in attempted to put on their cheap plastic gloves which were way too small for my hands and split in half. I managed to get one on enough to handle the serving utensils. At least I tried which is more than I could say for a lot of the other idiots eating there. None of the staff confronted them or asked them to wear masks or gloves. The food was not very good to add insult to injury. They had the standard Chinese buffet items but all looked weary and picked over. Very over-sauced and not very tasty. I did not even bother going back for seconds. It was not worth it because the food was not worth it and also having to rub shoulders with morons with no mask or gloves. Service was also inattentive. During the time my son and I were there we had exactly one trip from the server to remove dirty plates. She never asked if we wanted drink refills. This had been my family's go-to Chinese buffet place forever. We don't go as much as we used to, but it's still one of those places in the backs of our minds when trying to decide where to eat dinner together. This place is mostly consistent, but I do feel like in the many years we've been coming here it's had ups and downs. I feel like it was at its best when I was little, then it went downhill for a short while, and now it seems better again and somewhere in the middle (hopefully on its way back up). I feel like there is a good amount of food to choose from on the buffet, plus they have a Mongolian grill as well. I also appreciate that in the past few years they've added a few sushi options too. It's not the most creative or flavorful sushi, but it's not a sushi place... so just nice to have it as an option at all. Some things that even in the "lower years" have never really failed me are the cheese wontons (probably my favorite things here), the spring rolls (which I like better than the egg rolls), the mushrooms, and the honey chicken. There's plenty of other good stuff too, those just seem to be the ones that always consistently hit the spot. And don't forget the yummy fried donuts either!
