This is your run of the mill Asian buffet and it was crowded on a Saturday night. I am not big on buffets and was reluctant to come here, but it was good to try regardless. I liked the Mongolian grill, which you are able to pick your veggies, meats and sauces and have someone cook it for you. It actually was quite decent and flavorful. Obviously, they use cheap meats like the beef was very chewy, but you get what you pay for. All the fried stuff was ok. I did really like the fried sweet potatoes. All the usual Chinese American dishes were meh. The soups looked questionable and there was no way I was trying the sushi, so I can't comment on that. Desserts seemed ok. There were some packaged ones like crème puffs. Really liked the watermelons though - they were sweet. I would highlight that the people who work here are friendly and pleasant, which was a big plus. So overall, I thought it was a good price $15.99 for dinner for this type of quality. Note that there's a 3.5% charge for credit cards. I honestly do think a lot of people would likely enjoy it -the number of patrons there proves that. It may not be for me, but it might be for you. Nothing has changed much since my last review. You pay before sitting and eating, kids 3 and under eat for free. Restrooms are located at the front as well. Selections are still the same, noodle and ramen bar which is not good. No chicken wings, no ice-cream and everything is just mediocre. After researching, visiting their website, reading reviews etc., we chose to go Saturday evening. My biggest complaint was walking in and reading the sign that said $10.00 for a pound of crab legs. That was in addition to the $16.99 per person for the buffet. No where on their website or social media page does it disclose that crab is purchased separately. They don't have the most attentive wait staff. We had to waive folks down for a refill of our drinks. That being said, the food choices were great and nicely prepared selections! The service is kind. The outside of the building is beautiful. Once you step in, you are met with subpar expectations with food and dated designs. The food is mid at best. It is Chinese food done with below average expectations. The sushi tasted like it has been out all day. The desserts taste and look as if they have been refrigerated for a week, taken in then out over and over because of how STALE it was. I thought the fruit would be the saving grace but guess what? There were fruit flies ON and AROUND the fruits. They weren't even that good. The only saving grace was the sesame balls, I guess. Everything could have been done better. My brother really wanted to try this place so off we went during our second day in Tulsa. According to my cousin, this place has had a constant change in management so be sure to read the most recent the reviews. My family and I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. While it didn't blow us away, it also wasn't as bad as we were expecting and there were things that would make us go back. Service: 4 The staff were really nice and very attentive which I really appreciated. The waiter would constantly check on us and removed plates when we were done. However, make sure to put your utensils on the side because they kept taking my utensils when they would clear out my plates. What surprised me was that for a party of 10 they only required a 10% tip. Food: 3 The cheap price of the buffet reflects the quality of the food so I wasn't really disappointed. Sushi: 3 At first glance I was really taken aback because the sashimi looked like nothing I've ever seen before. Which is why I didn't attempt to eat it. Some of their sushi had smoked salmon which was really surprising to me and unfortunately the some of the rolls were so tight that the texture of the rice was ruined. However, the basic rolls like the California rolls were good and I appreciated that they had ginger and eel sauce next to the sushi aisle. Skewer: 4 The skewers were my favorite part of the meal. The chicken was moist and tasted really good with the sauce Ice cream: 3.5 They had red bean and matcha ice cream which was a pleasant surprise! Unfortunately the freezer that held the ice cream doesn't have a good temperature control so some of the ice cream cups experienced freezer burn while others were unscathed. As a result, make sure to see if there are icicles before you grab one because it can affect the flavor and texture. The first one I grabbed had ice crystals at the bottom which made the ice cream icy and a bit bland. I grabbed another one when my aunt said that hers was good and it was definitely a lot better. I liked both flavors and it was a good end of the meal. Dim sum: 3 They har gow which surprised me. It was good but I feel like it was of the pre-packaged variety. A restaurant that tries to be everything will usually fail at everything. Previous reviews did not paint a wholly Pleasant expectation and in truth some of what I tasted was not as bad as I was expecting. That said they failed at most things. Disclaimer: I did not try the sushi/sashimi both because I don't eat sushi and I was definitely afraid to. The make your own soup bar was not bad actually and I didn't mind it. They had some good fruit on the bar next to the sushi. The hibachi bar was small but not all bad. The meats were a bit dry. The buffet was a disappointment with flavorless meat and cold food. The desert bar was a bitter disappointment with low quality baked goods. The banana pudding was not bad however there were no actual bananas in sight. The pictures of the sushi do not reflect what we witnessed today, the sushi looked like it was left out, messily prepared and the "sashimi" was far from fresh, it looked like defrosting fish. The DIY soups lacked in taste, the noodles tasted okay, the add-ons for the ramen didn't make the soup taste better. Plus the staff are not helpful or nice. We received attitude from the start and was charged for two of the Japanese sodas, be careful on ordering the sodas because we did not ask for one. for 20 dollars a person, we will not be coming to this scam of a restaurant. Not only was our experience terrible they have dying fish floating in their fish tank. We were hesitant to try Toyosu after reading all the negative reviews here but I am glad we decided to give it a try anyways. We were undecided on what to have for dinner and thought that this buffet should have enough variety to satisfy us. The place was actually pretty busy on a Sunday night, nice and clean restaurant. You do need to pay first as mentioned in other reviews, which is not a big deal, you were going to do so eventually... the only thing is bring some cash to leave a tip at the table for the waitress serving you. There was a decent selection of food, I would say more than most comparable buffets in the area. The sushi and sashimi were pretty good for a buffet restaurant with a large selection of rolls and some nigiri. There was a lot of cooked seafood as well, including crab legs, crawfish, clams, oysters, and octopus. Toyosu has a hibachi station we're they cook your dish with your selected vegetables and meat. And they also have a noodle station where you can create your own ramen / noodle soup bowl. Of course they also have all the regular buffet items like salad bar, fried chicken, BBQ, and cooked vegetables. The dessert station has a fairly large selection of cakes, ice cream with 8 different flavors (the green tea is pretty good) and also some fruits with a chocolate fountain. The cake and ice cream are served by a staff member which makes it a lot less messy than self service. Toyosu also has a private karaoke room available for booking where you can eat and the karaoke equipment is there ready for use. It can fit 15-20 people and is $25 for 2 hours. Overall this is a pretty good buffet despite all the negative reviews on here. Definitely give it a try and see for yourself if you are on the fence due to the bad reviews. read more

I couldn't even take more than one bite from each plate. Literally got 2 plates of food, took a bite of each item (total of 8 items) and instantly left leaving 2 full plates of food. Payed $20 for absolute garbage of considered "food". I'm not sure how they are even in business and I'm not even picky with food but to pay $20 for cold nasty food is insane. The buffet catty corner charges a bit less than that and is just as good. The location is great and staff is friendly. Our server even turned on the football game for us and volumed up the sound. I eat more shrimp last night then I have the entire year, I swear. LOL they have an amazing coconut shrimp and honey shrimp, and their fruit tasted so fresh. I've been to my fair share of Asian inspired buffets and this one didn't impress me at all. I felt it was just very average food. The sushi was cut very small and didn't seem fresh. All of the typical Asian buffet food was abundant and it was a huge buffet, you definitely get quantity but not quality. I was pleasantly surprised to see hand scooped ice cream in a variety of flavors. I sampled the green tea and red bean ice cream and both were delicious. My son, his friend and my husband all ate plenty off the buffet but one snap plate was all I got due to the poor quality. I don't think I'll return again. read more

As far as buffets go, this one is certainly one of my favorites. I prefer to go on Saturday nights, because that seems to be when you get a real taste of their exotic flavors. It's a little more expensive than your average run of the mill buffet, but the "fresh" seafood variety is unlike most any other buffet in Tulsa. This place is for those adventuress eaters out there who are willing to keep an open mind and try something new and totally different. However, this is also one of those restaurants that either you'll like it, or you won't. I for one enjoyed it very much so, and will most certainly be back. P.s. My husband and I went on a Monday afternoon for lunch, mainly because of the cheaper price. We were given a slight discount because it was still considered their soft opening timeframe. The hostess was friendly enough and we were sat in banquette seating back towards the grill station. The seating is pretty cramped together which obviously makes it hard to clean - the area under our table needed to be swept pretty bad. The food stations however were kept clean and tidy on our visit. Not super busy but there were several tables of larger groups. The layout of the buffet seems disjointed. They built this building from scratch so you assume the layout would make more sense. Half of the sushi I tried was good, and the other half was meh. Sadly I don't remember what was good and what wasn't lol. The noodle soup station is a great idea, but poor execution. The signage says to add your noodles to the hot water to cook (noodles are to the left and the broth is in the middle of the station), then add broth to your bowl (right side of station) then add your noodles and toppings (back to the left). If there is more than one person at the station you are bumping into each other. Here is my pro tip: add toppings to your bowl, cook your noodles and place in bowl, then add broth so you are going left to right with no back and forth. And these bowls are huge! 90% of the foods I tried were good (which, side note, was not a lot. I don't eat very much) - skip all of the desserts except the ice cream. I want to go back to try some items I missed, but they will need to lower the price. Also our waitress kept our drinks refilled so no complaints there. read more

After reading the reviews for this place, I was super hesitant to check it out, but every time I drove by, there was a line out the door! Surely a place with that many people waiting to get in has to be good? WRONG! The initial line started outside the door. After a few minutes, we made it inside to the first lobby area with another set of doors. I assumed the place must be packed inside to have such a long winding line?! AGAIN WRONG! Once we got through the second set of doors, I realized the reason the line was so long was because there was only one register attendant, and all the other lines/space was blocked off in the main lobby, forcing people to wait outside. Our total wait time was 50 minutes. It was also pretty pricey, so we were expecting a large variety of food. Once inside, I was impressed by the layout. It reminded me of a Vegas buffet. I instantly started to look for a child friendly option to feed my screaming toddler. Nope. Wrong again. We settled for some mediocre noodles and sweet and sour chicken (we'll discuss food freshness in a sec) I then made my way towards the sushi area. There was a large selection, but some rolls didn't look as fresh as the others. I chose a few pieces of a spider roll and another cooked roll. It was okay at best. Nothing we ate tasted fresh or even really good. But even worse was the lack of food! At least a quarter of the trays were empty when we got there, and never got refilled. Of what we did eat, nothing at all stood out. I ONLY give it two stars because of the amazing red bean and green tea ice cream they offer, and because the Mongolian grill seemed decent. Big Average Buffet After reading all the reviews, there are several common assessments of the restaurant. 1, It is a nicely decorated big building. 2. Toyosu has a very large buffet with a hibachi bar. 3. The prices seem a little high. I agree with all points. The lunch price today (Saturday) was $11.98. That price goes up for dinner evenings and all day Sunday. The price excludes a drink. If you are a big eater you will do well. If you are an average eater, and usually have a good sized take home box after dining at a Chinese restaurant, you will be disappointed with the price. The final point is the description of the food. Nothing was bad, but there was nothing that I could describe as"yummy!" It is just a large variety of average Asian buffet food. In all fairness three items stood out, the tempura fried items, some of the sushi and oddly the bourbon chicken (not sure how that is Asian). The only service you will have is the drinks brought to your table. We were just about finished with our meals when the server came back to check on our drinks. So, service is just average also. For me a buffet has to be really special to break out above average. Toyosu just doesn't do it. read more
