First time eating here....Service ok, if you want to eat your food with gnats, not just one gnat but constantly flying over our food and even our waitresses agreed with us every time...we swatted over 50x, she dropped off our drinks to go...then our waitresses disappeared, after waiting15 min, I took the bill to the check out, they were confused...I said we do not know where she is and were tired of swatting gnats , this is bullshit, all 4 staff left the station, I stated I will be contacting the health department, she said she will get the owner, I said ok and waited.....no owner showed up and and finally left, 0.00 tip. When employees knowingly back the employer fully aware that their paycheck is on the line and they choose to continually screw over the customer, I have no problem to report them and give them 0.00$$ I suggest to visit other restaurants outside Unholy Toledo! read more

Ordered 3 different entrees. Not bad, but not as flavorful as I would expect. Portions are quite small. This would be a healthier version of middle eastern food. Not much oil,low sodium etc. Meat was very tender. Chicken kabobs were 'mushy which means they put too much meat tenderizer . Maybe their done in experience is better. Might be back. read more

The first issue was how dark the dining room was. It was literally so dark in there it was hard to see the other people at the table... which makes me wonder what they're hiding (dirt?). The waitress seemed completely disinterested and like she couldn't be bothered to refill our water glasses. I asked once for a refill and she poured my glass but ignored everyone else's. The side salad was a joke. Literally a small bowl of lettuce with two tiny tomato slices on it. The hummus was ok but had a strong flavor, and the veggies served with it looked like they'd been sitting around (the end of the cucumber had that dry feeling to it as if you cut slices off and then let it sit). The chicken was ok but the rice had no flavor. And the prices were too high for what we got. If you want Mediterranean food there are much better places in the area (e.g Grapeleaf, Damascene Grill, Tiger Deli). No desire to go back to this one. read more

Beirut is absolutely one of the best restaurants in Toledo. They're food is authentic Lebanese and so damn good! They also have Italian option which are just as good. For Italian, I love their spaghetti and the lasagna. Things that I have to have when I visit Beirut: Beiruts best - beef with gravy(?) Over hummus Kibbe - the raw appetizer one Ara-yes - cooked kibbe in pita...don't be scared Hummus - smooth and so flavorful and the veggies are always the freshest and crispest Lamb chops - little ones charbroiled...so damn good Fattoush - best there is anywhere Grape leaves - the meat ones...so much flavor, tender, perfect spices ...and good the next day Bread - puffy pita... absolutely worth the carbs The atmosphere is dark and can be romantic or great for families and groups. They have a huge menu, give you huge servings, and have excellent food quality and service. It's practically a Toledo institution. First time here and we picked it from Yelp reviews. The initial impressions were not the best. It was nearly 6pm and we were one of three tables there. We sat down and immediately noticed that the water glasses were very dusty and had significant water spots on them - you could run you hand over the glass and feel them. However we were immediately brought new, clean glasses. The menu is on the smaller side but the waitress made great recommendations for me (I can't eat dairy). We started with an appetizer of olives - which I loved as kalamata are my fav olives! Hubby got a beef dish with mushrooms, onions and peppers with a red wine sauce. I tried a piece of the beef and it had a good sear but still tender. I got falaffal appetizer as my entree (for most people this would not be big enough as a main course but I had bariatric surgery so it was still too much food for me). The outer crust on the falaffal Cakes was impressive! Personally I am not a fan of tahini sauce so I got it with garlic sauce instead. We finished off the meal with some baklava. We just went in side to eat on Saturday about 430. Nothing wrong with the food not an issue. The service we received was terrible. Lady with dark hair and an accent was the worst waitress we have ever had. Tried rushing us to order never check on the food was. I will never eat inside again. The Lebanese food at The Beirut is the best in Toledo! I've gone here for years and brought out-of-town family & friends here, and they always say they can't get this authentic of Middle Eastern food anywhere else. Service is usually always spot-on too. It's good to make reservations since they are always busy at dinner. Some of my favorite things to order are raw Kibbee, stuffed grape leaves, Kafta, slow roasted lamb shank, beef kabobs, fatoosh, and hummus. The servings are more than generous and we always have leftovers to take home the next day. read more

I really don't know what to say about the Beirut, besides the fact that it is absolutely amazing. This restaurant serves high-quality, delicious food with friendly service and remarkable prices. I've been going to the Beirut for years and have never EVER been disappointed with the quality of the food or the quality of the service. The Beirut is a staple among Toledo foodies. And don't be surprised to wait for a table on a busy night. But trust me, it is well worth the wait. Parking is kind of hectic so I recommend parking down one of the side streets if there are no spots left in the lot. As for the food... There are so many good dishes and so much good food to try. My family and I always order TONS of appetizers and just share. And that's how we comprise our meal. Some of my favorites are: hummus, dami, kafta (raw!), sautéed mushrooms, artichoke hearts, grape leaves, and ara-yes. A good place to visit when in Toledo. Food: Authentic Lebanese dishes and several other choices (even trout) if you aren't in the mood for fatoush or grape leaves. We like the kafta, served with rice and French fries, but if you are hungrier-go for the heartier serving of Arayes kabob halabi or the lamb. It's good to go with a group of 4 or more so you can try different dishes. Service: Always pleasant and efficient. Location: Easy to find on a main thoroughfare. Even, now, the tasty food keeping with the old and same menu. The service is some times slow but that is how they had always worked, so expect this and enjoin the conversation. The building doesn't look like much. When you walk In the main door you're greeted with friendly smiles and an awesome deli area. Carry-out is always fresh. The last time I went they had just made fresh pita and it was warm and delicious even driving the 20 minutes home. I've never had a bad meal here. Ok Lebanese food, although I didn't like any of the Italian dishes I've tried ( pizza, spaghetti and lasagna). I usually get salmon (#20) or chicken (#15 with chicken). Very bland. Rice was plain tasting and undercooked. I guess I'm spoiled being from Detroit, where we have some of the best middle eastern food outside of the Middle East Dearborn, MI. read more

WOW-what a surprise find in Toledo! I was traveling cross-country with my mom when we chose to dine at Beirut during an overnight stop in Toledo. We had heard that Toledo had a great Lebanese food scene and Beirut definitely did not disappoint. We started off with a baba appetizer which had the perfect blend of eggplant and smokey-ness. One of the best baba dishes I have ever had (and I grew up going to Greek festivals). I loved that we got pita, cucumbers, and red onions to dip in the baba. I got a chicken kabob dish and my mom got a fish dish. We were served an abundance of food including vegetables and rice that were all so fresh. Everything we ate was so flavorful and savory!! If you ever find yourself in Toledo, make sure to stop here! We were surrounded by local families and could see that this is a neighborhood favorite. read more

What do you think? I was with a party of 20 for a birthday dinner, reservations were made weeks in advance. The waitress took the orders and food slowly began to arrive. Understandable that with a large group the food is going to arrive in waves. The waitress came down to our end of the table and asked us to repeat our orders. So we did. Our orders started to come out and I got my salad. Everyone got their entrees except for me. After a while, it was evident that I was never going to get my entrée. When the waitress finally came back out again I informed her that I didn't feel like I was going to be paying for my wine or my salad because I never got my food. I ended up eating food off of other peoples plates like a feral cat. However, the manager told the waitress that I was to pay for the wine because I drank it but I didn't have to pay for the salad. I was dumbfounded. You don't bring me any food and you don't even make an effort to make things right a $10 glass of wine is going to kill you. And there was no effort of an apology on either management or the waitresses part. I paid for the wine and left a tip. This was not the experience I was hoping for, and I was really looking forward to that lasagna. read more

My favorite spot in Toledo. Drive over 40 miles to eat here. Last visit tried Beirut Best (beef tips over hummus) and it was simply amazing. Also tried the Fattoush and highly recommend it as well. The Lebanese food here is top notch. Some of the best I've had anywhere. The hummus is creamy, lemony, and rich. Served with fresh baked pita that is soft and pillowy on its own. Followed up with the house salad special (Greek salad). Made for some excellent appetizers. Fresh hand torn lettuce, red onion, cucumber, feta (probably the best feta I've tasted in a restaurant), and dressing. So delicious. I ordered chicken shawarma with green beans. The green beans were tossed in a sauce that worked. The portions here are huge. There must have been at least a pound of chicken on my plate. To my left my father in law ordered shish tawook (grilled chicken). He raved how good it was. To my right my wife ordered the filet beef tips. Her meal tasted the best at the table. A hidden middle-eastern food gem hidden in the heart of Toledo. The guy offers real authentic Lebanese food without shortcuts. The menu is long so it will take you a few visits to try different Lebanese delights. The fatouch was very tasty prepared from fresh ingredients. We ordered raw grinded meat and I can assure you that this is a difficult dish to prepare, these folks did a prefect job preparing it from scratch.
