Took my minivan in for diagnosis of a dash light. Was told its a warranty item and cost of everything would be covered. But needed to tear the engine apart and replace the piston rings. job was done in short period of time which was nice but I had to fight to get a loaner car as we have a big family with two working parents. Got the car back noticed they charged me for an oil change and yet clearly the service bulletin specified draining the oil, replacing the filter/oil etc. i talked to the service adviser and quite frankly this guy didn't know how to tie his shoes let alone discuss the work that needed to be done. First he tells me that the oil change is not a part of the service bulletin. Then tells me they don't need to drain the oil to perform the work on the engine. I don't expect the service adviser to have all the answers but if you don't know the answer then be honest and say you don't. Upon further inspection it was observed that they forgot to change the oil filter and had the same one on that I installed a few months back. so not only am I being charged for an oil change on a warranty work that it is covered but they still didn't even complete the job of actually changing the filter. I called the brilliant service adviser and he was very apologetic and asked if I wanted to bring the car back in to have the oil change done again etc. etc. I told him all I want is my money back for the oil change. I do not want these people touching my car again. He said he had to talk to the service manager and talk to this person and that person and would call me back in an hour. 3 hours goes by and I pull up at the dealership because this guy would not call me back. finally i was able to be reimburse for their mistake and got my money back a couple days later. Complete joke.. won't get my business for a car or service work ever! done with these folks. read more

I dropped my 2013 Honda Pilot that has 3,300 miles and was purchased at Bel Air Honda off this morning because it is pulling to the right. The service advisor told me it probably needs an alignment and they would do it as a one time curtsey. I said curtsey and he responded yes it is not a warranty item no more than if you drive off the lot and get a nail in a tire or a window breaks. Perhaps it is me but a vehicle with 3,300 miles should not pull to the right. This was my first purchase from Bel Air Honda and if I continue to be treated this way it will be my last. read more

After weeks long discussion the manager did settle everything to my satisfaction. I can appreciate a place that admit when they were wrong and handles business correctly. Now I did lose somethings I was promised, but you can't have it all. And I can understand why. Though I do not retract my original statement, because that was my experience. I however appreciate the customer service the manager and the new finance guy provided. I wish Honda gave me the customer service in the beginning. in Dec 2007 was in process of buying a 2008 Honda Accord. Used the Dealer Internet to shop for price. Received prices via internet from several dealers including Bel Air Honda and Anderson Honda. Anderson's price right on the invoice price. But since Bel Air Honda was 2 miles away from my home decided to buy the car there if they could match Anderson's price. At first they couldn't but when I showed them the Anderson price the salesman went to the sales manager who confirmed they could meet that price. Returned the next day to test drive the 4 snd V6. Decided on the V6 told the salesman to write it up. It was a cash deal. He went back to the sales manager. Came back saying that even Anderson could not match this price since all dealers put dealer installed options when they receive the new cars. Plus he would have to search another dealer's inventory for the exact car I wanted. When I ask why they couldn't take car when it arrived and not put any dealer options on it. Now for the BIG LIE. With a straight face the salesman told me that they don't know when or what kind of cars they will be getting. In other words new cars just show up at the dealer w/o the dealer having no prior notice. With that I left and went to Anderson. The salesperson, Pat Parish, there showed me a factory printout of the cars they would be receiving in the next 4 weeks. Several were exactly what I wanted. The Pat Parish merely ear marked a particular car and I got it w/o any dealer installed options at the inventory price. Reluctantly I take my Honda Bel Air Honda for servicing. But would never buy from them. And that is a shame since the 2016 Honda Accord Hybrid looks most appealing to me. But I'll be getting either a Toyota Avalon Hybrid or Prius V from Jones. How the salesman at Bel Air Honda could expect me to believe that the dealership had o prior knowledge of the new cars which they would be receiving in the next two or three weeks is beyond belief. They must think the buy is totally stupid. Strangely the sales tatics at this dealership haven't changed noticing that there are several almost identical stories. The question is why do dealers think they need to deceive an honest buyer? The car buyer today is far more knowledgeable then they were 20 or more years ago. Before I enter a dealer I know exactly what he is paying for the car and the approximate value of factory incentives. If I cannot get s price which is below the Factory Invoice price (the theoretical price the dealer pays before factor incentives/kickbacks are factored in, I leave the dealer and go to another one. Competition to sell cars is very high. An honest dealer will give you an honest price w/o a bunch of garbage. read more

I was searching for a particular make/model after my car was totaled by a drunk driver. I saw what I thought I was looking for online (TrueCar) and called Bel Air Honda to be sure it was in stock. There were no photos online yet since it was a new arrival, but I was told it was still available. I made the one hour trip to Bel Air Honda and sure enough, the car was still there. However, it has not been detailed yet, but I was just test driving so I didn't mind. After some deliberation, I purchased the car and was to go back in a few days to pick it up, after it went through inspection and detailing. I also purchased the extended warranty for an additional $2,000, but canceled it a few days later. Fast forward to three days later when I pick up the car. It has been cleaned, but hardly detailed. I was told that it had a "half a tank of gas". Shouldn't most dealerships at least fill the gas tank entirely? Also, there was a large dent in the passenger side door that I had not noticed upon purchasing. Noted, this was my oversight, but does this dealership frequently sell sub-par used vehicles with dings and dents? Over a month after purchasing, the car begins to have major problems. Spark plug issues, AC issues, etc. I called the dealership to speak to a manager about bringing the car back because I did not feel safe in it. He was very quick to invite me back, but they would not honor what I paid for the car, rather they would only give me KBB trade in price, but they'd love to have the car back because "they're always looking for great trades". Needless to say, I took this heap of junk to another dealership who treated me much more respectfully and worked with me until I was 100% satisfied. Also, it's been three months and I still have not received a credit or refund for the $2,000 extended warranty purchase. I have contacted the financial manager who sold me the warranty and then canceled the warranty and was basically told it takes time and hassling him won't make the process any quicker. I had a real bad experience trying to buy a new car. I began by contacting them via their Internet sales team. Had several texts back and forth. Told them I'd be there in 60-90 minutes and exactly what car I wanted. When I arrived my sales rep (Nicole Shernicki), who was slow responding to texts, was so busy she could not help me. I was handed off to guy who never introduced himself. The car I was ready to buy was not there. It was at some remote parking site, or so they said. They evaluated my car and came back with a "KBB" value that was two thousand below KBB (validated by a previous offer from another dealer). The car price was inflated by hundreds for an "accessories package" that included mud flaps (which I didn't ask for and cost $65), wheel locks (also didn't ask for them and only cost $40), and nitrogen in the tires (which is how they come from the factory). Total rip off! After telling them I didn't want the accessories package and demanding fair trade in credit for my car they did come down in price but I grew tired of their games and the unknown name sales rep was just a real jerk. I walked out but had to ask for my car key to be returned to me. I would not recommend this place to buy a car. Run away! read more

When I would call Rick to see if he could give me a price he would routinely ask me what his competitors price was. When I wouldn't tell him what price his competitor was giving me he would give me an attitude and say "you're not working with me". It took multiple phone calls to finally get a price. He gave me a price last Friday and then when I followed up a few days later the price rose by $270 and I was rudely told that I was wrong about the price. Lastly, when I asked him to match a trade in price to seal the deal I was told he could would match the trade in price only to receive a phone call 30 minutes later as I was heading to the dealership to make the deal based in his "word" that he could match the price that now he wouldn't match the price. Horrible customer service and experience in general. I will be buying from the other dealer tomorrow. read more

3 years ago I went for an inspection and they milked me for everything they could think of. I just called to have something under recall repaired, they'll only do recall work Mon-Fri not Saturday and you need to leave your car half the day. These people are the worst. read more

Criminal service policy, my wife wanted her rear brakes replaced and oil change on her 2006 Honda Civic (purchased there) and her car was pulling to the left slightly may be tire or alignment authorized either. Told by service advisor if they found something else wrong while they had her car and she didn't have the work done she would be charged $190.00 diagnostic fee? WTF! How is this not extortion? Took my brand new 2015 Honda CRV for its first oil change and tire rotation. Left after an hour, got back on the highway and the tire light went on. Turned around, got back to Honda and they said the guy forgot to reset something. The person I spoke to apologized and said they were busy expanding their service dept. Obviously there is no quality control! Returned to work an hour late because of the time wasted on the road. All the extra gas too going back and forth to the dealership and time spent in traffic too! The next day I noticed my car leaking oil on my driveway. Thought maybe it was just some oil overflow but it continued. I live 45 minutes away from the dealer and am definitely not going back, nor do I have the spare time to do so. I paid up front for oil service when I leased the car and now I'm going to be out that money and have to pay my local mechanic because I don't have the time to waste going back and forth. I called the Service Manager and all he could say was "I'm sorry, I'll check into it." Brought car to my mechanic today and was told the oil plug(cap) was never tightened! read more

Won't go back. Took our 2013 Pilot in for a brake change. Dropped off at 9am and told them I needed it by 2 as I had to pick up kids at school. They said no problem. Around noon they called and said the brake pads were worn and and cabin air filter needed changed. Estimate was $500 something. I said I only wanted the brake pads replaced. They quoted me $270. They said it would be ready for pick up after 3. I again said I needed it by 2. They said they'd try to get it done by then. When I went to pick it up, it was 2 and they said it was done and they are bringing it around. 10 min later they brought it around. I went to pay and the bill was $630. In addition to the pads they said all rotors needed to be turned. Now I don't doubt that they may have needed to be but they said nothing about it earlier. I didn't have time to argue as I was late but I will never go back. I expect to be told everything up front and don't like surprises. read more

When I complained about the time and explained that I had made an appointment they then said that I had an appointment with a service consultant then they fix my car. Bullshit. I got out of my car stated I had an appointment for an oil change only. If I need a consultants I'll hire one what a load of crap. I wouldn't go to theses guys to have my tire pressure checked. I called Honda of North America and filed a complaint. They suggested I call the General manager. I did had to leave a voicemail which I did. Left my info phone number etc. never received a call back. I have two Hondas looking into buying another. Not from these clowns. Awful place awful service awful people working there. I had the worse experience purchasing vehicle for them. They advertise as lifetime warranty experts, they will not show the details of warranty contract even if you stressed the manager to show the complete documents, until you pay the deposit, sign all other documents and they desperately delay until midnight. My test driving experience is good, J R Hamilton explained everything except Pandora connection using USB drive( I came to know that this is an Issue in new Honda CRV ). Unless you get your own computer/Smartphone/calculator, everyone in dealership will try to confuse you/ change the numbers and deviate. J.R Hamilton doesn't pick his phone when you want to contact him and need his help. My biggest disappointment is to purchase a new vehicle that has 195 miles driven on it. J R Hamilton did not mentioned that my car will be driven from a dealer at Virginia to Maryland. So, I had to fight for compensating me for the miles driven. I assumed it will be transported in a truck, since they are collecting 810 dollars for destination. Finally after I saw my quote they charged me additional 116 dollars for electronic processing fee, which is additional to 200 dollar processing fee. They are using a software for getting the registration and tags for Delaware, so they are charging that fees on me. I don't know what is 200 dollar processing fees for?? Jonathan who is billing manager, will not show any kindness when the customer is asking general question. Also, very arrogant person, don't want to see him ever. Finally I am doing my own registration and tags. Please don't go just talking to them over phone. read more

Received a great quote from the internet sales agent. When I got there, of course the first vulture hanging out near the door pounced on me. He said they already had the vehicle I was asking about shipped without having me leave a deposit. I thought "how nice of them!" There was a hideous pin stripe that looked like my Dad's 80-something Cougar. Sales guy says "we'll take that off" (but not off the price!). So they hand me a purchase agreement that I needed to have my fiance sign and send on to our bank to cut a check when I realized the number was adding up to more than our approval when we had plenty of funds to cover the taxes, tags, etc. Turns out there was no breakdown for wheel locks, plash guards, the affore-mentioned hideous pinstripe, and every other little thing they could throw on without asking. This and all the other reviews make me really hesitate to buy here. I think my financing might just "fall through" until I can find another dealer. Unfortunately car salespeople have a stereotype for a reason... :( read more

Waste of time. Saw a vehicle on the internet that met my expectations. Did like suggested and called to see if it was available. Asked for used car sales and later found out got someone in new sales. Told me they had two vehicles in stock that met my description. Drove an hour to get there, to be told that the vehicle was sold 2 days ago. Went back in to the building with the sales person, Anthony to see if there were other vehicles coming in. The used car sales manager told his person there was another vehicle on the lot. Sent us out in the golf cart to find it. No truck, went back in and sales manager said it might be in shop. No interest in finding out where it was, when it would be back. Made me question if they really had it. The sales person, anthonywas nice, I felt bad he was working for a sales manager that appeared totally disinterested and like it was a bother to have to deal with customers. Disappointed and angered that 2 1/2 hours wasted. Had the check from the bank in my pocket and was ready to buy... The best was that the vehicles I was interested could not be sold until the airbags were replaced! read more

I live in Columbia, MD. I saw that Bel Air Honda had a used car that I was looking for. I drove up to their location and test drove it. It was a nice car (about 40.6K miles, one owner) but the price was too high - I could get a similar new car - 5 model years newer for about $2k more. I did extensive research online and knew the price range that model car was selling for (that model is no longer being made). They started playing games once I gave them the bottom line price I was willing to pay. They said they took the car in on a trade and had to put a lot of money into it to fix it up - at least that is what they said. We all know they probably paid KBB price minus cost of estimated repairs - at the very most ... probably less. They kept saying they were loosing money at the price I stated. That car had been on their lot for over 2 months so if the price was asgreat as they said - it would already have been sold. Over a month's time they wouldn't budge much even said it was being sold but they would sell it to me if I came in first and at their price - I didn't. Then they said that it was sold and asked if I wanted to buy another car. The funny thing is that the car is still at Bel Air Honda and their asking price now is lower than my offer. They should have taken me up on my offer - they would have made more money than they are going to now. I've moved on to my alternate - - - I STRONGLY RECCOMEND that you do likewise, moveon and buy from a more reputable dealership. This review is only for the used car side of Bel Air Honda - I can't vouch for the new car side of the dealership. I can say that I will not buy a used car from Bel Air Honda and will recommend to all my Baltimore area friends to look elsewhere! A one star rating for them is one star too many!! read more

I had purchased all the contracts on my fit. One of the parts of the policy is for dents and dings. I don't recall the finance guy every telling me that the dent has to be smaller than a credit card. It seems the service tech was not aware of this policy either. I brought the car in for a 15k mile checkup which was covered under my massive contract. I asked if the circular dent, which was the size of the end of a baseball bat, was covered under the contract. The service tech said that he wasn't sure but it looked like it might be covered. I agreed to have the dent tech look at it. Well then the nightmare begins....the small dent was not covered because it was slightly bigger than a credit card. OK, that's fine. All of a sudden the service tech tells me that it's much more serious because of the ripple! I asked, "What ripple?" There wasn't a ripple when I brought it in. Furthermore the 2 week old dent is being to rust. They found this out when they removed the bottom half of the fender!!! It gets worse...the dent now is a $631 job! All I wanted was to know if the dent was covered. I wasn't aware that some guy was going to pull my car apart and create a ripple and a small crease in the perfectly , original, circular dent!!!! No wonder it was now a $631 problem. I ran my hand along the bottom of my fender where there is a 3 inch new dent and paint chips fell off the car. These chips were caused by the dent guy's tool and had nothing to do with the original dent. I had driven over 300 miles since I had the dent. There's no way chipped paint would have stayed on during my highway travels. Bel Air Honda knows that I am not a happy customer and they will be hearing from the Better Business Bureau because of this nonsense. Buyer Beware....do what I didn't do..take a photo of your car before it goes in to service. Trust no one. I never took a photo because it wasn't that big of a deal but now it is. They even used the scare tactic about the car immediately rusting. Honestly, if their car rusts so fast shouldn't the type of metal be banished?
