This is the closest grocery store to me, conveniently located in the Pocket neighborhood off Rush River Dr. It's older, but they've always kept it nice and clean. They did some updates a few years back, right before the pandemic IIRC, and some parts of the store look newer now, but seems the floor and paint are still original or the same colors, could use a more updated look if you ask me, but it's still a well-kept store, never a mess or boxes stacked when they're stocking. As for customer service, lines can get long, but they're real good about getting more checkers and moving things along. The checkers are efficient and mostly polite, sometimes some of them old timers could be a bit curt, but they get the job done. Sometimes they are short on staff and there's quite a wait to checkout. The Deli area is my favorite. I like to get their hot Chinese food to go, it used to be $7 on Thursdays for a 2-entree (or was it 1) box, what a deal, now it's over $11+, but whatcha going to do, inflation's everywhere. I noticed a nice selection of flowers and plants for this late in the spring, plus watermelon for the Memorial Day weekend, plus tons of red, white, and blue baked goods in the bakery, which is also a fav section of mine. All in all, a pretty good neighborhood grocery store, but customer service can be better. read more

I got $300 worth of groceries so it took me a minute. Just went shopping here just a few minutes ago and there were some sirloin steaks on sale. When I went to pay, the cashier noticed there was a fly that was inside the package. The cashier immediately gave it to the supervisor near the cashiers, the supervisor took a picture of it, I tried to take a picture and she pulled the steak away, I asked to take a picture and she said 'no'. Today, at around 1 p.m., I went into Bel Air looking for some ice cream. Well, let's just say I got a lot more than ice cream on todays visit. :( Upon entering, there was a lady with a small dog, I attempted to maintain my distance. However, as I was walking by, the dog started attacking me! Bit me twice on my leg. As I was shocked that the owner didn't do anything, I walked away and looked to see the extent of the damage to my leg. After reviewing the damage that the small dog caused (bite marks, brushed and slightly broken skin), I approached the lady and told her that her dog did this (showed her my leg/picture attached). The lady laughed and said that her dog did not do this. However, there was another patron who witnessed the whole thing. The concern I had was that the entire front staff saw this incident and no one said anything, they just sat there and watched. Very concerning. Bel Air is a lifesaver when I need to get food really early in the morning or late at night. They are open from 6am-10pm. I bake a lot but I work long hours that can be weird so if a special occasion comes up randomly they definitely come in handy. The prices are OK which is why not a full 5/5. They're notoriously kind of expensive. But customer service is pretty good and they'll take returns if for example berries come home already moldy. This was by far one of the most stress free shopping experiences I've had in a very long time. I did all my shopping conveniently from home by using the Raley's Bel Air online store APP. I ordered everything that I needed for thanksgiving and was able to "lock things down" by paying on the APP. At the end of my online order I was given the option to select the day & time for pickupand I selected a future date for this. On the day I was to pick up my groceries I received a text message from the store shopper when my order was ready. There is a private parking lot set up in the back of the store for online orders/ e-cart pick up. The parking lot is clearly marked and there is a posted sign with instructions on texting or calling the store so they know you've arrived. My shopper came outside from the pickup dock wearing a mask and gloves. And she swiftly pushed the basket of bagged groceries to my car and cheerfully loaded up all bags in the cargo area. This service is expedient and contactless and I will definitely do this again. An added bonus; Raley's E store shoppers are actual employees who shop while they are working. With that said, they know everything about their products and you will not get nickeled and dimed with additional 20% tip+ service delivery fee + additional service fee for alcohol, which will quickly add an additional $20 to your grocery bill. read more

I ordered our Thanksgiving Dinner ahead of time with their Holiday Meal Deals. Having it all in one was something I needed this year as we had several dinners planned. So, the ordering process was super simple, just went online and ordered. It was just like when I order my groceries for curbside pickup... loved the process. I originally ordered for a Wednesday pickup but was able to switch it to a Friday pickup which the team was very understanding and they switched it with no problem. Well... there was a small hiccup. Amy the manager called me on Wednesday to tell me the team accidentally gave my order to another customer. Well, stuff happens and she went out of her way to call me and let me know... I was very impressed. She and her assistant manager went out of their way to make it right when I picked up my order on Friday. Customer service really just doesn't exist anymore, so the fact Amy and Jackie went above and beyond really sticks and makes me want to come back. I've had to deal with situations like this with other places and the managers never went out of their way to rectify the situation like Amy and Jackie. So, will I order from them again? Great local store. I worked for Bel Air/Raleys many years back, not at this location, so I might have a bias. Have always liked the company. This store has aged in appearance and is not as modern looking as both of the closest Raleys brand stores which honestly surprises me because pocket greenhaven seems like the right market for the newer look especially with the local Nugget competing against. But this store is always clean and reliable. One recent change I'm not a big fan of is the decision to have only one entrance/exit when there had always been two. Two is just better, the single entrance often gets backed up with carts nearly smashing into each other. My best guess is this practice was either a security or covid measure. My other biggest complaint about this store really has nothing to do with the store itself, rather whatever company owns the shopping center. In the past few years all of the tube lights on the many palm trees have either been removed or they just refuse turn them on. This was such a cool draw to the store and lot. Making something extra special about an aged commercial lot. Touch of Gold River. Instead now the buildings have a million cameras with obnoxiously bright flashing lights everywhere to bring attention to their monitoring. Security is important but many business can balance both, I do not know what went wrong here. Still a great store. Feels unsafe by the property owner's measures and signs but never feels unsafe when I'm there. I have lived in much worse. Pocket Greenhaven is not a bad neighborhood. The management team and staff are great here too. I'd love to see a store refresh but it really was not that long ago that I remember this store being one of the nicest in sac. And the other two local Raleys stores just recently were remodeled or built new. read more

We just moved to the area so we recently started (and stopped) visiting this Bel-Air. On our last visit, we went to buy a can of panko crumbs. Somehow, we didn't realize until we got home that the top of the cab was covered in a thick layer of gray, sticky dust (you know, when it's been building up for a while how it gets kind of "sticky" and hard to remove). We went back to return it and to let them know what we had taken home, and the associate looked at my mom and simply said, "So do you want another one or do you want a refund," in a very irritated manner. Also, no apology or sense of concern for the lack of cleanliness. In addition, we also notice that the checkers / people working at the registers here always seem to be either in a bad mood, irritated, or carrying on a conversation with their coworkers while checking you out. Because I'm frugal, Bel-Air isn't my first choice when grocery shopping. However, I often frequent this store when I have a last minute craving (wine, gourmet cheeses, etc). The staff here are extremely friendly and attentive. Also, staff do an excellent job of providing recommendations of products. For example, on Valentine's Day I purchased a couple bottles of wine. While checking out, my cashier suggested that I pick up a special Valentine's edition of a popular champagne. I ended up taking them up on their suggestion and we (girlfriend and I) were pleased with the bottle. My significant other and I run an eBay business, so we often utilize the USPS Postal Office that is a part of the Customer Service desk. Usually there are two women working the desk (Jessica and Dani). Jessica is extremely patient (I usually have a cart load of boxes ready to be shipped), and always greets me with a smile. On the other hand, Dani seems very unpleasant and gives off the vibe that she really does not want to be there. I understand that not everyone enjoys their job; however, you should at least fake it until you find something that truly makes you happy (I should be a motivational speaker). A couple of days ago I walked in to send off some packages. Dani mumbles what I believe was "hello" and asked me if I knew what time they closed (I arrived at 6:50 and the desk closes at 7). I calmly replied by saying Yes, 7pm. She grabbed one of my packages, turned around, shook her head, and began logging the package. Upon completion of logging all of the packages, she quickly handed me my tracking information and shut the customer service window. If I were at Wal-Mart, I would expect (and wouldn't be surprised) by this kind of behavior. However, this is Bel-Air! Next to Nugget, they have a solid reputation of treating their employees well and having great customer service. I understand that everyone has things going on in their lives (away from work). However, the beauty of life is finding the best work-life balance (I'm Dr. Phil now). The only thing that stopped me from giving this store a perfect review is the incident described above. This is a shout out for the Sushi Department at Bel Air Supermarket on Rush River Drive -- they are my personal winner of the Best-Sushi-From-A-Grocery-Store category. I like the sushi at Nugget Market (and I give them kudos for their brown rice sushi), but for bargain-priced, close-to-sushi-bar-sushi, my vote goes to Bel Air. Your friends will think you had gone all out with the "Starlight Party Tray" (52 pieces for $50.19) or the "Sunny Delight Party Tray" (48 pieces for $44.49). The trays are an assortment of specialty futomaki such as the Dragon Roll, Orange Roll or Rainbow Roll, and nigiri sushi with tuna, salmon, shrimp, etc. Nothing cheesy about the trays or the presentation. Trays start at $12.09. They have individual packs too. There are a lotta happy, happy reasons to like Bel Air -- the friendly baggers who are johnny-on-the-spot when it comes to escorting your cart to your car, the willingness of the various departments to meet your needs (the floral department will even order leis for special events like graduation), and the better than average ethnic food selection. This Belair is my go to location since I live close by. I live close enough to walk to this location. I love walking in here and getting what I need. My default will always be Costco for food. I normally come here for things I forget or I have a craving for. They have a water kiosk outside and two red box kiosks inside the store. They also have a customer service center, so when I need to mail out items that are time sensitive, this is my go to place. Pros: it's close by and they have a large selection of food. The staff are friendly and normally there's not too many people when I go at night. I love their weekly deals and their rewards program. Their coupons come in handy, especially when they give you free stuff! Cons: prices are normally higher than other places. Tip: if you go after 9 PM, they lock the sliding door on the left side (the doors nearest the dry cleaning business) and you can only enter/exit through the other entrance. Also starting January 1, 2016, they will stop offering plastic bags. They will start charging .10 for each paper bag. read more

When I am in town in Cali this is the grocery store my boyfriend and I always frequent. They have plenty of parking. We use the redbox there to grab movies and they conveniently have 2. The staff is ALWAYS so friendly and helpful. The produce department is always fresh and stocked well. The meat and seafood department are amazing and helpful! They will cut the scales/skin off the salmon or whatever fish you want and do the rub on it to prep it for grilling! They have great deals every week throughout the store. The store is always clean and stocked! The cashiers are wonderful and they have a few self-check out if you have a few items and need to check out quick. In addition to the e-coupons, Raley's/Bel Air offers a Friday Freebie coupon (redeemable Fri-Sat-Sun) when you spend over $20 you get a Free item of the week. The "Dailies" items are priced the same everyday, like their french breads are $1.88 (I think). When it's hot and fresh the Dutch Crunch is so good! It's slightly sweet, crusty on the outside and chewy and tender on the inside. I highly recommend using it as garlic bread to with your next Italian meal! Delish :) The store is clean and neat. The layout is a little wacky now, because they changed it a couple months back. I've gotten used to it, but if your not a regular its hard to find certain items. Their staff are friendly and helpful. The post office here is super convenient -- the ladies at the counter are super friendly and are always helpful when I need help sending something off. I shop here a lot. This is not only because this grocery store is in my neighborhood (there are 3 BelAir/Raley's in my neighborhood) but because the staff is AMAZING! They are always so helpful and pleasant. The produce guys are amazing...when I come in they always remember me and ask me how I am doing. I can not forget the meat department guys....always so accommodating with my picky fish cut requests. Also, I love the Something Extra program they started. Every week I get special deals sent to me. I was so impressed when I realized that the deals were based on things I actually buy. I mean how cool is that they give you coupons for stuff you actually want. I come here way more than I would like. The prices are not all that cheap when it's comes to some items, but you know what they say 'if you want quality '. One of the great things that is rather wonderful is they seem to always have something on sale. This has been my home store since they opened. They have just about everything you could ask for in a grocery store. All the workers are very courteous and accommodating when you have questions or need to locate an item. Sometimes they will even find and grab the item you are looking for, if it isn't too busy in the store. The prices are almost always reasonable, especially when they run their special sales. Recently I noticed they are starting to host breweries and wineries who do tastings in store to bring awareness to their products. For those who can, who doesn't enjoy free beer and wine tastings? They also have on occasion some food tastings as well. I'm a fan of their deli as the sandwiches they make fresh will put subway to shame. They are really a one stop shop.
