    Addicting!

This place is as unique as they come, from decor to food and drink selection, it really checks the "trendy'' box. The drink selection is decent but the few small bites we had were just ok. I recommend the truffle chips but be prepared to be addicted. Service was okay but I probably wouldn't return.

My friend and I checked out Ro Sham Beaux for the first time last night and it was so cute inside! Located on J Street next to Ginger Elizabeth's and across the street from Chicago Fire. It is small inside, but there are a few tables and bar seating as well. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we ordered the Raclette over potatoes, Red Lentil Dahl Soup, Arugula Salad and Cheese Wiz. Everything was pretty tasty - I really liked the Cheese Wiz as well as the Red Lentil Dahl Soup - it was savory and spicy. It was our first time trying Raclette and I can't say I was super impressed, but I loved watching them scrap off the cheese and seeing it melt all over the potatoes. I will say that it needs to be eaten pretty quickly otherwise it just coagulates on top of the potatoes. They also offer sandwiches, salads, hummus, different chips, and even tin fish options. Service was friendly, but sort of nonexistent once we got our food until it was time to pay. Overall, we enjoyed our food and I might come back for a cocktail and appetizer next time I am in the area. Check them out!

I was here on a Tuesday late afternoon, a good amount of people were in. I got a wine and a sandwich. Great customer service but unfortunately they do not have mulled wine at the moment.

I've been here a couple of times and love this place. I came here in the afternoon and there were plenty of seats. Of course I sat at the bar to gain the full experience. I'm still new to wine and the bartenders recommended amazing white and red wines, and educated me about their concept on natural wines. I also ordered the bread and butter which tasted amazing! They have some of the best sourdough breads I have tried. Would highly recommend. Overall great service, food, and drinks. Love that you can choose to sit at the bar, booth inside, or they have an outdoor patio as well.

The non-alcoholic cocktails are delicious, and the alcoholic ones are great as well. The ambiance is very cute, and the staff is incredibly friendly. It's a great place to talk and hang out for hours. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

Came here with a few friends during the week. The bartender was very friendly and let us know that all the wines and drinks change frequently so if you came here one week they likely have a whole different menu the next. I'm a riesling fiend so I wanted to see what they had, their bottle from Germany was delicious no too sweet and the perfect balance, of dry and sweetness. The vibes in this bar were really nice too, mellow and nice mood lighting, a good night out with friends. I definitely recommend this spot!

This wine bar is so cute and perfect for date night or a small group of friends (2-4 people). The bar is intimate and moody on the inside, beautiful wall full of wine selections, and cute seating by the back wall, the window, or at the bar. The staff are very friendly and can help you figure out what wine to try. They have some outdoor seating as well which is nice and great if you come with more than just one other person. My friend and I tried some white wine and we were happy with the recommendation give to us. I'll definitely be back to try their cocktails and the food they have on their menu.

Very intimate space with wonderful wines. It is a very small space; however, I thought it was beautifully decorated and very welcoming. We were greeted at the door and offered to sit whenever we'd like. We sat at the bar and had a glass of wine. I think this is the perfect spot for date night. The wine selection is also great and the bartender allowed us to taste a few before deciding on a glass. The full menu can be found using the QR code on their posted menus.

Unreal experience at RSB. Came in with a small group (6) and were so well served despite a very large party outside. The cheeses, phenomenal. The wine, top shelf. The staff, friendly funny and kind. I'm not a sac local and I'm wishing we had a place like this closer to me! Great for high end after works aperitivo.

Arrived at open. Bartender was genuinely a people person from the moment we arrived. Even as we sat playing cards and enjoyed our wine and food, it was great watching him interact and entertain all of the guests at the bar top. Great vibe, loved all the wine we tasted and were blown away by the cheese and bread. Great kickstart to our Sunday wine stroll!

Great cozy ambiance. The bartender was super helpful and talked through the wine selection with us. I really enjoyed the grilled cheese with caramelized onions.

I love stopping by this little spot whenever I visit Wild Heart Beauty. It's a great place for small plates and drinks. I don't drink alcohol so I can't comment on their alcohol selection but their non alcoholic options are great. They even have a service window for Wild Heart Beauty. It's a very cute, intimate place for getting together with friends or a relaxed date night. Pros: it's a vibey, relaxed atmosphere and the staff have always been so friendly and check in often. My favorite is the cheese whiz. Their bread is perfect, not too hard and light. We usually order the cheese whiz with their meat plate. Cons: parking can be hard to find. When it gets busy during the colder months, indoor seating can be limited.

Venetian Spritz, pickled plate, and cherry NA drink

Stumbled upon this place after everything was closed for Easter and it was a pleasant surprise! I don't drink and I got a cherry NA drink that Trevin recommended and it was super good! My girlfriend got a Venetian spritz and really enjoyed it! We also got a pickle plate to share and everything was prickly and delicious yet not too overpowering. If you're in the area and want to chill and have a drink and a snack this is a nice option!

This hidden gem offers an experience that's unlike anything else in the city. The setup is simple but charming: you literally walk up to a window and order your wine. I believe it's one ring for white, two for red, and three or four for sparkling--don't quote me on that, but it adds a playful, old-world vibe that makes the whole experience memorable. The Wine Window is affordable, laid-back, and surprisingly quaint. It's the kind of place where the ambiance, the people, and the energy make it feel more like an experience within an experience--not just a drink stop. I had the chance to chat with John, the owner, who shared a bit of the backstory. He previously owned a full wine room nearby, but when the pandemic hit, he had to pivot. Instead of calling it quits, he leaned into a smaller, more intimate concept inspired by wine windows in Europe. Honestly, I think the scale makes it even better. The outdoor patio is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine while people-watching on L Street, and yes, there's even a restroom available (a rare but very appreciated amenity for this type of setup). If you find yourself downtown, do yourself a favor--swing by The Wine Window, have a chat with John, and enjoy a unique Sacramento experience.

The menus came with a wax seal on them. The silverware and plating was perfect. Aesthetically, the space was beautiful. Our server and the staff were attentive. Napkins were folded when you went to the bathroom and things like that. I love that.   I had the "It Must Be Spring" made with sarpa di poli grappa, elderflower, lemon, basil, and prosecco. It seemed like their take on/ an elevated hugo spritz. It was light and refreshing.   Caroline had the L'Ultravioletto with vodka, creme de violette, herbal amaro, orgeat, raspberry, lemon, and egg white. The presentation was gorgeous. I really enjoyed the eggwhite frothiness of this drink..  There was an amuse-bouche delivered that was a mini lobster roll type bite. The dough was so fluffy and light, and the aioli was such a perfect sauce choice.  We started with the brioche with carmelized onion butter and smoked maldon. The bread was literally glistening, in the best way. For the crudi course, I had the hamachi crudi which came with cured and charred hamachi, compressed strawberry, cucumber, and chili crisp. The plating was gorgeous, and the flavors were marvelous together. For the primi course, Caroline had the polpo which was balsamic glazed octopus with calabrian chili, ink, and potato gnocchi. This octopus was easily in the top two octopus I've ever had. It was so well cooked. The coating was almost sweet, like a caramelized coating. For my primi course, I had the spring pea vellutata with watercress, pickled shrimp, marcona almonds, and lemon ricotta. I would describe it as a springy deconstructed split pea soup. Caroline had the Agnolotti pasta with goat cheese, pine nuts, fava beans, morels, and pesto. This was not our favorite dish of the evening, but we still polished off the plate. I was expecting more of a pesto pasta situation based on the description, but there were just little tiny dabs of pesto on the plate. Personally, I am a heavy pesto gal, so I think that was my expectation. This spring time has made me appreciate fava beans. This was my first time trying morels, but I think I need to re-try them because I didn't really form an opinion based on this experience.  I had the bucatini with sardines, anchovy, green garlic puree, and an artichoke gremolata. Personally, I didn't love the scales still on the fish, but they were tolerable. The garlic was really flavorful. I don't think I necessarily tasted the artichoke, but it was a fun thing to include.  There was a palate cleanser that was brought out that was some sort of sorbet-adjacent dessert. It was fruit flavor, I believe raspberry or pomegranate. Perfect separation for Caroline's dish, but since both of mine were fish, I would have preferred it after my pea dish.  With my main dish, I had a glass of the Torre Mora Scalunera Etna Rosato DOC (2024) from Nerello Mascalese grapes from Sicily. How appropriate given my recent Sicily travels. It was light and went nicely with my main. I wanted a cab, but it wasn't a good pairing with my main. I am glad I didn't get the cab though because it wasn't my favorite when I tried Caroline's glass.  I had the branzino with fennel, english peas, potato, pearl onion confit, and trout roe. Personally, I am glad it was just a filet, rather than a full fish, especially at a nice restaurant. The potato was nice and definitely added substance to the dish. I have had a fair amount of trout roe recently. It kind of gives savory boba lol. The pea base was lovely and complimented the fish perfectly. The skin with the pea mixture added a nice seasoning to the fish.  Caroline, who is a lover of lamb, had the lamb with lingonberry demi, smoked celery root, and roasted red beets. I love beets, so I am never going to complain about them being on the plate. I was not in love with this dish. I prefer a more medium cook to my meat, so this was a little undercooked for me. It felt blah and lacking seasoning to me. I liked the flaky salt, but the lingonberry I was expecting more from.  They brought us two little complimentary desserts: a Madeline and a puff pastry. Both were lovely and was so kind of them to include with our meal. Caroline had the bomboloni with lemon curd, fennel butterscotch tuile, and toasted fennel gelato. I love a non-traditional ice cream flavor, and this one was no different. It was creamy and light but still had the fennel flavor, front and center. I loved that the lemon curd was inside, rather than a nutella or chocolate. The sugar coating was evenly distributed, and the bomboloni came out at a perfect temperature.  I am a sucker for an olive oil cake, so I had the ciambella kumquat custard, with limoncello marscapone. I loved the kumquat custard. The olive oil cake could have been more olive oil forward, but all of these components together were a yummy bite.

The food does not deliver on the promises of these first observances. We each chose the 5 course menu and shared bites to try as many things as possible. The highlights: Carne Crudo and Composed Oysters were solid. Asparagus and Prosciutto was perfection with frisee and 6 minute egg. Vinaigrette perfect. Lasagna was tiny layers of pure decadence. The lows: The pulpo was so over cooked you could barely cut it with a knife. The fettuccine with lobster and shrimp was cloying and seafood was also over cooked. The lamb lacked any real presence and was completely taken over by the accompanying sauces. The branzino was basically inedible. The thinnest of filets that could not be separated with a fork and barely broken in to pieces with help of a knife. Honestly the worst branzino I've been served in a restaurant. For the price I would never recommend Allora. And honestly, I wish I would have read some previous reviews before assuming the quality of food.
