Going through placement of a loved one can be an emotional roller coaster. I've seen the worst come out in some family members when mom or dad start to decline. Sadly, it's a common trend to blame others when they can't regain original conditions of health in said loved ones. I would place my own mom here. My brother was here 3 weeks recently and overall we had a very good experience. Like all, I think they are alittle understaffed, but did their best. Here are some things we liked - -It was fairly easy to talk with our case mgr Michelle, and overall she was very helpful and supportive. -Loved their PT staff. -They answer the phones, so you can actually get a live person almost every time -It was very clean and cheerful. Some SNFs are really worn down and depressing, this one was not. -They had nice outdoors areas if you wanted to go outside, and the times we were there, we always found a parking spot. Like all SNFs, hospitals, etc I highly recommend family come and support whoever is in there. I found that helped alot as he was there a few days and they did not realize he had hearing aids that had to be charged, he had a cell phone, he needed bigger food portions, etc. Since he wasn't doing well, he needed family to advocate. There were small things like I wish the TV in his room could tilt or pull out since he barely could see it at the angle and how far it was, and he seemed to always be hungry. He needed some medical things done (ie 5 large bladder stones removed) but neither the SNF or hospital would do it, so maybe neither could, but it was very frustrating.

She is absolutely the worst she does not care about the patient's. She will lie and tell you she will do something and never does. There are so many examples I could give, the first one is that my mother in law was supposed to be admitted to Brittany House, the day before, Erin went on a three week vacation. She did not communicate with her staff so my mother in law had to wait another three weeks in a skilled nursing facility. After we decided this was not a good fit for my MIL because she is very active and needs socialization, and this is one of the least active assisted living facilities I've ever seen. We needed a verification that my MIL was discharged to be able to qualify for in home supportive services. I called Erin she said she would email it, she didn't. After I sent the email to the business office I finally got what we needed. If possible you should avoid this facility. After I complained about Erin she sent me a email and said, she isn't responsible to do anything after the patient is discharged.

Choosing an assisted living or a memory care community for a loved one requires careful consideration, so when looking for an exceptional facility, I took many things into consideration, and Crofton Manor checked EVERY box! The key aspects that stand out for me at Crofton Manor are: 1. Longevity and attentiveness of staff: A community with staff who have been there for a long time often indicates strong management and a stable, experienced care team. This is true at Crofton Manor. Everyone from the administrative team (Administrator (Amalia), Marketing/LVN (Claudia), on-site Social worker (Cheryl) and all the caregivers, facilities employees, and kitchen staff (and everyone in between)... are all amazing, professional, and have worked here for many years. The consistency of care provided by familiar faces is incredibly comforting and speaks volumes about the community's management and work environment. There is very low turnover in staff, and they are genuinely friendly and approachable. Their attentiveness to the residents' needs and well-being is beyond reproach! The staff makes a genuine effort to engage with residents, learning their preferences and ensuring their needs are met promptly and with dignity. This personalized approach is a major differentiating factor. 2. Safety protocols: This facility has robust safety measures which is paramount in a care setting. Cleanliness: Crofton has a consistently clean and well-maintained facility. The health and comfort of the residents is clearly a priority to management and staff. I have never once noticed any foul odor in the facility, and my mother has lived here for almost two years. My siblings and I visit unannounced (at different times/days) at least 3 days per week, and our mom is always groomed, well-dressed and happy. 4. Phenomenal nursing staff: The nurses at Crofton Manor are extraordinary and highly skilled. They are compassionate and responsive, and they manage my mother's healthcare needs efficiently; always communicating with me proactively about any changes or concerns; often being contacted by a nurse for even the smallest of concerns. They do not take the care of their residents lightly, and have never once taken a "shortcut" when it comes to healthcare concerns. They are extremely competent, which is vital for providing appropriate medical care and responding to health needs. 5. Social worker support: Having a dedicated social worker on staff is incredibly beneficial (Cheryl is a rockstar and truly cares!). She has assisted us with navigating resources, providing emotional support to our family, and helped us with the adjustments of community living. Her expertise has made the transition smoother and less stressful. 6. Friendly atmosphere: We are always met with welcoming and friendly staff members. I have never walked into the facility to see folks simply sitting around in wheelchairs unattended. There are always activities for the residents to be involved in, and the place is decorated for EVERY holiday, bringing a special warmth to Crofton Manor. When my dad entered the Villa he had a stroke and was not able to walk but staff had him on a exercise routine and in no time he was able to use his walker to get around again. The environment was comfortable for his friends to visit like at his home. It is a very clean and manicured place. They have a cook for daily meals and David and Issac were very loving to my father. I was comfortable leaving my dad there giving me peace of mind and I am eternally grateful to the Villa.

I would recommend against placing a loved one in Assisted Living here if they require any type of…read morecare and especially if they have dementia. They do not have adequate staffing (2 caregivers per 35 residents "who need care") and relied regularly on agency caregivers (who didn't seem to have adequate training in caring for residents with dementia) even before COVID. It seemed like my parent's care plan was not being followed and I imagine it was because there were not enough staff members to do so. Some staff are wonderful and really care about the residents but others are mediocre at best. If your loved one has dementia, even if it is mild, look for a place with maximum 6 residents per caregiver that conduct dementia-specific training of their caregivers and do not regularly rely on agency caregivers.
