Lakewood Gardens is a loving and compassionate Alzheimer's and Dementia Assisted Living Facility that took amazing care of our mother for 5 years. The staff is professional, very attentive and caring and I highly recommend this loving facility to take care of your loved one when the time comes. The facility is well-managed and very clean. My mom always looked fresh and well cared for during our visits, and her room and bedding were always immaculate. There are many activities to keep the residents engaged, like Bingo, music, and puzzles. They even had an artist come in and give the residents a painting lesson, which I thought was really cool! I was notified immediately whenever they had a health concern about my mom, and prompt action was always taken. My brother and I will be forever grateful for the peace and comfort we felt knowing our mother was well cared for, safe, and loved. Our mother recently passed away peacefully at age 94. Because of the loving care they gave our momma, my brother and I plan to stay in touch with our friends at Lakewood Gardens because we consider them extended family, we are blessed! Lakewood Gardens provides 24/7 assisted living care with semi-private/private rooms. I am a visiting nurse who has a patient in this facility. When i visit, my patient is always clean, room is tidy, no odor and well organized. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to patient specific care. They have group activities, exercises and different events to keep their residents busy and healthy physically, mentally and socially. This place is highly recommended. read more

This place treats all their residents like family. No place is perfect, but when you bring a concern to their attention is dealt with quickly. Moreover, my mother is no longer a resident because she is dealing with health issues above and beyond Lakewood Gardens facilities and others. However, I have received contact from three of the employees asking about my mom, asking if they can do anything to help and even asking if it would be okay to visit her. I am so thankful to Lakewood Gardens staff and to Jeenne. I looked at sixteen different facilities ranging in prices and the second I went into Lakewood Gardens I knew it was not only the right fit for my mom, it was for me as well. My best friend also went to all these facilities with me and she had the same feeling as I did, so I knew it was where I wanted to place my mom. Unfortunately, my mom had a setback at the skilled nursing facility and wasn't able to transfer when we thought she would and Jeenne handled the delay without any problem. Jeenne was flexible with me dropping off my moms belongings and super helpful during a very difficult time for me. The staff at Lakewood Gardens had my moms room set up for her before her transfer because I wasn't able to get there in time to do so. I toured the facility a couple of times and each time I was impressed with how the staff interacted with the residents, how clean the facility was and how welcomed I felt. My moms best friend went to go visit my mom on her first day at the facility and called me to tell me how lovely and amazing the facility was. I was relieved because being an only child and next of kin, I had to essentially make these decisions myself and hearing from someone else who had walked this same journey with her own mother twenty-something years ago made me even more confident in my decision to place my mom at Lakewood Gardens. Even Mr. Goldman, the Administrator kindly introduced himself to me and was available for questions. Thank you for making one of the hardest decisions of my life the easiest decision in the end. Our family was introduced to Lakewood Gardens when we made the difficult decision to move my dad who had Alzheimer's out of my parent's home. I worked with Becky through the process and she was so helpful understanding making us feel so welcomed. As we visited my dad we started to realize he was in good hands and had made the best decision for him. The staff including Chris, Helida and Carmen always made us feel welcomed. They and the rest of the caregiving staff were so patient, caring and helpful to my dad. My mom loved the peacefulness of the outdoor patios every time she would visit my dad and she saw that my dad enjoyed being there and she saw it as his home away from home. My grandmother is currently a resident at Lakewood Gardens. I feel it has been a positive experience for her. They give me weekly updates of any medical conditions she is facing, and they try to make this as positive as they can. This is very helpful since I live out of state. The fact they call and report problems as they occur means they are making sure that she receives the best care she can. Is this the best possible place for my grandmother? Well, no group care home is going to be. But the people who I have seen work with my grandmother seem to be as caring as they can be with her and the other residence here. Lakewood Gardens is a wonderful Alzheimer's Dementia facility. My mother was ill for 11 years. The last four year of her life she lived here. They were so good to her. It is a very clean and loving environment. Coleen was so helpful through the process. Her staff was always on the same page. Our family is very happy, that our mom, was able to receive such great care. Alzheimer's and Dementia, is such a hard illness to understand. Placing my mom in a residential facility was the hardest decision I have ever had to make. Finding Lakewood Gardens, has made this transition the best it could be. When I stopped by the 1st time to get some information, I was offered a tour on the spot. From the beginning I've always had professional & very caring experiences from the administration, caregivers and staff. The facility is always clean and fresh and everyone from the receptionist to the housekeeping staff is always friendly and willing to help. Of course no one is perfect, there have been a couple hick-ups, but all my questions and concerns have always been addressed and resolved as quickly as possible. Sometimes its education for me regarding rules that must be followed from the state and sometimes, a tweak that can to done to my mom's care within the policy of the facility. Caring for alzhermer and dementia clients take a lots of patience and kindness. I truly believe this place is the best place my mom can be at this time. She's been there for over 3 years now. I am very thankful I was able to find this place and I can count on everyone to help my mom live with dignity. They are like my second family. read more

I was introduced to Lakewood Gardens in December and went to visit the facility before I moved my Mother who is diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimer's. When I got there I was greeted by Cecca who made me feel so comfortable and expressed so much love, compassion and love for her residents. I cannot reiterate how happy I was once my Mom moved there. The place is so clean, the staff so caring, kind and compassionate with everyone. I have never seen a place that has so much love and compassion for their residents. From the administrator who helped me hang my mother's clothes in the closet, to Cecca who helped me carry boxes into my Mom's room, to Jeanie who went to the kitchen and brought me hot coffee when she heard me say that my coffee was cold. I really could not believe my eyes with such an incredible treatment. The nurses, Helita, Chris, and Joanna are so extraordinary and never fail to amaze me with their care and willingness to work with you. I am in awe. My Mom has been there for a month and a half and every time I go into her room, I find it clean, the bathroom spotless and her sheets changed on a regular basis. One day I came to the center and saw the cleaning crew shampooing the carpets in the hallways. I was in shock! Would you believe it? They even wash the wheelchairs that the residents occupy, weekly. This is the best place I have seen. I requested that a hand shower be installed in my Mother's bathroom. Nick, immediately bought it and installed it. I am so grateful to all the administrators, nurses, staff and cleaning crew there. THANK YOU! read more

My mother has been a resident at Lakewood Gardens for several years. I don't agree with the comments in another review, probably from a disgruntled employee. My experience has always been that the employees were caring and loving to my mother and all the other residents. In November a new administrator started and the changes she is introducing are wonderful! More activities: the residents are outside in the beautiful courtyard enjoying music and games, the staff seems happy and I see the new administrator helping the staff whenever needed. I was happy to see some very good caregivers who left last year have returned. Mom seems happy too, and that's what's most important. read more

worst place to take your family to; To start of the administrator Colleen is a two face, she's super nice and friendly when the resident's family is there to visit but when they are gone she's the worst administrator ever! she does not give the caregivers the supplies they need to care for the residents and blame them when the residents get sick. The care givers are very nice and caring so are the house keeping staff they try to keep everything as clean as possible but without the supplies that are needed it's not possible. There is also the other administrator who's name is Jennie, she hardly knows any English, very hard to understand, she also is unfair and non-caring for the residents. There are times the residents have sores or even open wounds and all the "nurse" or what ever title she gives her self who's name is Vicky I believe , only gives them rash ointment or what ever over the counter medicine she thinks is right. They don't take the residents outside to the patio they have only when they have their family gathering events like the holidays. The night shift is the worst, instead or caring for the elders they are on their phones, smoking outside or sleeping, what kind of caring is that!. Administrations only cares about bringing more residents to make more money instead of the wealth of our senior citizens. I would never recommend this place! and I only gave it one star because I had to. read more

My Mother-in-Law was a resident at Lakewood Gardens from last October 2014, until the end of May, 2015, when she passed away. We could not have been more pleased with the excellent care she was given while at Lakewood Gardens. From Management there at Lakewood Gardens to the Med Tech staff to the Caregivers, she was in excellent care. The professionalism, compassion and dedication they exhibit daily towards the residents in their care, is what is so truly remarkable and special about this place. On the day of my Mother-in-Law's passing, her caregivers all lined up at her door to come in and each give my husband and I their condolences, as well as all gather to say their farewells to my Mother-in-Law at her bedside. We were incredibly touched by this gesture, as we'd never encountered anything like it before. My husband and I both highly recommend Lakewood Gardens to anyone out there looking to place their loved one in a facility where they know their loved one will be well taken care of and made to feel special. read more
