I wanted to demo the sink that was tied into the washing machine as well as remove my half bath's fixtures to be replaced with new ones that I purchased. Belanger & Sons came out and provided an estimate very quickly and was able to get me on their schedule for the first part of the job and even fixed the drain that was very clearly clogged. I reached out to them to let them know we were ready for the install of the new fixtures and they responded quickly with a reasonable date for install. Our experience with Steve was 5 star. Our water heater leaked around 8pm friday night. I tried calling our regular plumbing company but they were not available. So yelp came to my rescue and this listing showed up. Steve picked up my call right away and guided us on the immediate steps we could take. He patiently answered all our questions over text, even though he knew we could very well go with another plumbing company the next day, if we wanted. But he made sure we were all set. He was not available Friday night, but he did come by early Saturday morning and changed the water heater. His prices seem at par with what other companies are charging. I'm immunodeficient during this pandemic. I really didn't want to call a plumber, but I needed one. I certainly chose a WINNER! This plumber accommodated my situation very well. He showed up on time, wearing all requested Personal Protective Equipment. It was also good to know that he used new drop cloths, he cleaned his tool bags nightly, and that I was his first appointment of the day. He maintained proper social distancing when it was feasible. Two weeks later, I've not shown any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. As for the job itself, everything is now running smoothly. After assessing the problems, he quoted a price with contingencies. ###UPDATE a year and a half later### We have since used Steve/Mike and the Belanger & Sons team for 3 or 4 other plumbing projects at the house, and continue to get incredible service at incredible prices. Most recently, our water heater failed and started leaking...Steve answered the phone at 8pm on a Thursday night and was here with a tank the next day and completed the work. Although having a rough idea but still inspected thoroughly to rule out all other possibilities. When we purchased and moved into our house, there were a number of plumbing issues, and there were many recommendations for plumbers in the area. I reached out to a few companies, and Steve and his team were the first to respond. Since then, communication with them has been prompt and professional. They've been able to assess the situation and diagnose the issue, as well as provide recommendations and next steps. They clearly hold themselves to high professional standards, while at the same time feeling like they have their customer's best interests at heart. Disappointed would summarize the relationship with Belanger & Sons. I chose them based on the several good reviews and, as such, I expected more. I am giving them 3 stars because of their good communication/responsiveness and their willingness to make it work. However, the work was not as good as expected. Positives: - Communication/responsive - Cleanliness - Trying to make it work. Negatives: - The installation day they told me the installation was concluded and left. When I checked the soaking tub it wasn't level at all. It was, in fact, visible that it wasn't level since I could fit my hand below the bathtub on one side, while it was flush on the other. It wouldn't have happened if they had used a level to ensure proper placement before they left. The angle was about 10-12 degrees off. - We were told our bathtub would be installed following the specifications of the manufacturer, but it wasn't. The specifications of our acrylic soaking tub called for a mortar bed, which was not used. As a consequence, our tub is squeaking when we shower, when we get in and when we get out. The squeaking started a couple of days after we started using the shower, unfortunately, so the tiles were already in place. Before knowing that NOT having a mortar bed was the issue, so I reached out to the manufacturer complaining about the issue with the tub and they asked me to take a picture through the opening behind the tub, which revealed no mortar bed. Because of that, the warranty of my newly installed $1,400+ soaking tub is gone. The manufacturer told me that any acrylic tub needs to be installed over a mortar bed. I would have expected the contractor to know that. Instead, the contractor tried to tell me that maybe the subfloor was not properly prepared and that maybe it was the subfloor that was making that noise when I step on the tub. They came 3-4 times in the course of about 8-9 months (yes, it took that long) to add expanding foam below the tub, but that didn't solve the issue. - Minor: they left a small dent on one of the tiles next to the tub. They told me it was already there... The floor had been installed just a couple of months earlier and it was in perfect condition. I know these things can happen and I don't get mad, but I would have appreciated honesty. read more

My 80 year old Mom has an older gas furnace that was firing up, but kept shutting down after a few minutes. With it being November in New England, it was becoming a concern. As we weren't able to afford a new furnace at the time, we just wanted to get her current system running again. We have a 9 year old gas fireplace insert. I have cleaned the glass every spring, but apart from that it has never needed service. Last fall it started taking 5 - 10 minutes st start, so I searched Google looking for causes. I tried a few fixes, but again this fall it started doing it again. I found Berlanger and Sons on Facebook and made an appointment right there on Facebook! So easy and convenient. Steve came over this morning and diagnosed the issue in under 5 minutes! Turned out it was the wall switch - I would have never even thought that could be the issue. Steve fixed it, tested it, tested the stove for carbon monoxide, cleaned it, cleaned up the area he worked in and left. It was so very easy! We have found a new plumbing & heating company!
