Although further from me, it was more than worth the drive! Locally-owned, and clearly very community-oriented, this was such a fantastic experience. We called ahead on a Thursday night to see if there was a wait, and thankfully there wasn't so we came and were immediately assigned a lane. The prices were different from what was listed online, and were actually cheaper! We opted for unlimited bowling for 2 hours, and had an absolute blast. Even with it being a league night, it wasn't too busy or crowded. My only wish is that they were open later! Although, it was a weeknight haha. The ambience is so nostalgic, it's got all those special touches that make it feel like you've been transported back in time to classic bowling alleys-- like you see older movies. The rental balls are a mix of typical house balls, and what seem to be donated, personal balls. This is super fun if you're looking to try out different weights, makes, and types of grips without having to buy your own ball. The lanes were super greased up, and the scoring was accurate. Food is ordered on electric kiosks and is brought right to your lane. Drinks are ordered directly at the bar and you can walk back to your lane, and keep a tab open. There are so many things to do on top of bowling! There's an arcade and multiple (?) bars that seem to host karaoke on some nights. I highly recommend this place! Especially if you're looking to support local, because it's an absolute gem.

A smaller group has been playing The Futures on Mondays for some time now. 500 Club has ALWAYS been a little more ($) than comparable courses, and not good customer service. Behind the counter, they act like they're doing you a favor. Now recently, they built a new facility/building for The Futures and events - the 9 hole course next door. And in so doing, did away with the chipping green. Permanently. That makes them the ONLY course in The Valley that doesn't have one. Seriously. And what, you ask, did they name the new building (and course?)? THE VIEW. Lmao. With that, my Monday group just changed locations. Permanently.

I'm no grass expert but the grass seemed different. Very short and hard. Holding a shot was almost impossible. The sand traps were iffy as well. Very little sand in most of them. While it looks like a desert course, the desert was mostly free of bushes and cacti. The pace of play was OK for a Friday afternoon. We played the front in 2 hours and the back in 2 1/2 hours. We never saw a ranger. The practice area was pretty chewed up but usable.

I guess the senior citizens of Buckeye aren't as active on Yelp, so I am happy to be the first to review it as it really needs acknowledging ;) As a guest of a resident here, I am able to get a guest pass for this recreation center to use the gym and pool area for $3 a day. This is such a deal. The gym has weights, treadmills, eliptical machines, weight machines, etc. It opens at 5:30 a.m. which I took advantage of as I am an early riser and want to get a work out in before it becomes 100 degrees outside here. It has nice locker rooms with showers, lockers, sauna, bathrooms and entrance to their spa and massage area. While the gym is a nice facility, the pool area is what really stands out here. I was told that it was large and had a hot tub and lots of areas to lounge. That really does not do it justice. It is an awesome facility. There is one ginormous pool that is separated into a lap pool area, where pool volleyball games are also conducted at times and exercise classes, I believe, also. This pool area connects to the other pools which include a shaded area with bench seating for lounging in the pool, the large main pool area by the flowing water fountain coming from the huge hot tub above and there is a lazy river area to the side where you can float along happily. There are several areas surrounding the pool with reclining deck chairs and tables and chairs with umbrellas. Since this is a retirement complex, there are set hours for children to use the pool from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The deepest part of this pool is 5'8" which only spans a small portion of this huge pool. The majority of the depth is 3'6" deep for safety reasons for the residents and guests, I would assume. It is salt water/chlorine maintained, so buoyancy is easy here and as a lot of the pool is pretty shallow, I floated around on my back alot through the areas of the pool. There are strong jets along the perimeter of a lot of the pool, so you can be carried around quite easily. There are noodles available outside of the pool for floatation aid, if you desire. The concierge and check-n staff here at the rec center are very nice. As a guest, you are required to show your guest pass and ID when you check in to use the facilities here. A special shout out to Kay at the check-in desk, who is always so pleasant, kind and helpful when we have checked in here. You can buy a chilled bottle of water here for $1, also, at the check-in desk, if you want one. Sage Recreation Center is such a wonderful facility for the residents here at Sun City Festival in Buckeye but also a great one for guests of the residents to take advantage of, also, at the very reasonable guest pass rate!
