I had a tight deadline for the work I needed to get done and they told me they would be able to complete the work in time which is why I went with them. However, after they completed the mitigation, the owner told me they would no longer be able to do the reconstruction portion of the job because they took other jobs. They left me with a hole in the ceiling where my cats could get into it leaving me to scramble to find another company to help me in time. Rumor has it the owner, Luis, also got offended when I asked him to be more careful when dropping dry wall from the ceiling because I was afraid it would scratch or damage my floors and that's also why they would not complete the restoration job. They didn't want to do a job where the homeowner was 'looking so closely or worried about their other property being damaged'. This is a clear indicator the owner does not have confidence in the quality of his work and is in fact afraid he would damage something so he'd rather back out from the job than 'have an owner looking closely'. I definitely dodged a bullet not getting reconstruction work from them after all. While Luis's partner, Spencer, who did the mitigation work, did a really good job and I would totally hire him again, the owner is quite young and clearly has not yet learned the basics of customer service so I'd recommend going with another company that is more established and has more experience under their belt, especially when it comes to customer service.

In the e-mail, I was informed of the standard charges for general handyman work ($185), per hour rates thereafter, cancellation fees etc. I was informed that they will be able to help me with the projects, and they might be able to fit me in as early as the following week. I needed to provide photos and notes so they could better judge project scope, the service location, credit card details, and complete billing information. I responded after three days with details and photos of the work needed, service and billing address and my credit card. Since then, I've been ghosted. Over a period of one week after I responded to their e-mail, none of my calls to them were answered, and no response to my follow-up e-mails or the voicemail I left them. I finally contacted a few other handymen in the area and one of them got the job done professionally.

We coordinated with him to have our hot tub hard wired upon delivery. He came days before the delivery date, on time, to see what the situation was and what all he might need, gave a fair estimate, spelled out possible reasons it might be more, and explained everything in terms I understood. He returned the day of delivery to get things rolling before the hot tub was delivered and kept me appraised of his progress, including the snag that he warned me could happen (old, underground conduit inhibiting the pulling of wire). He finished up, I filled and heated up the hot tub and was in it the next night. Plus he followed up a few days later to make sure everything was good. Bottom line, he was professional, courteous, on time and an all around good guy.

There are some reviews around the unpredictable pricing, and consequently insurance billing, and they depicted Chuck as if he was aggressive and deceptive. Chuck is NOT. My place had a sudden heater leakage, with 0.4 to 0.6 inches of standing water in 2 rooms in the basement. Chuck arrived at the scene timely, explained the plan and options in detail, and provided very honest and personal advice regarding the insurance process. I had 3 water damage restoration companies come to my place for estimates that day, and Chuck's experience and resourcefulness really stood out. He was able to point out a major issue with another enclosed space that BOTH other companies failed to identify (and agreed to after I mentioned to them afterwards). Imagine how that would have caused me years later! Chuck also provided thorough alternative plans on the spot in the case we do find mold to largely reduce the cost of repairs. He has cost reduction in mind at all time even though the dumber alternative is likely also covered. I had to move to a different solution for other reasons, and I cancelled pretty much at the last second of the appointment. In the entire process, Chuck is really understanding and makes sure I am comfortable with the decisions I am making. He didn't demand for any sort of compensation, and even offered more advice, after having wasted the time and energy he already dedicated to my case. I have a lot of respect for Chuck and would definitely work with him again. I feel compelled to share my experience here as I think the review profile painted the wrong picture for me. :)

Then he said $300 including materials. Then when he showed up he said it was $425 because he had to factor in the cost of driving to Home Depot. Then in the end it was $550 with tax! Over double the original quote. He also never showed up on the scheduled day so I had rebook. When he finally showed up on the rescheduled day he was a half hour late. Then he didn't even finish staining the door trim when he left. Oh, and he was messy and ended up getting wood filler residue on my door that now must be sanded off and restained. The baseboard job was fine. But the door trim repair was shoddy. That, coupled with poor communication and constantly increasing costs, makes me NOT recommend Giovanny.

Picture says a thousand words. I will leave you as the judge for the quality of work from Giovanni base on my photos. Detail: First thing I want to call out is the dishonest pricing. The initial estimate with $720-$800 for seven tasks. Then I was told there's $100 additional material fee. I didn't care, thought it's reasonable. Three tasks were "done" (omitting quality discussion here), he came back another day and ask me for another $400 ($150 for extra material and $250 for labor). I asked him to show me what he's purchased but he never show me the receipt. At the end we mutually agree to not do the last task and he will refund me $250. As of today, he still owe me $250 and it's impossible to get a hold of him now... Another call out is during the process I get tons of last minute delay and no-show. I get all sort of excuses: rain, previous job overran, phone broken. If your job is time critical, please be super careful. My final conclusion: If you have 1) very non-critical job that is 2) not urgent, and you 3) don't care much about quality and 4) have plenty of time to communicate, you can hire Giovanni for his somewhat low price.

Everything Vasa Construction did they did quickly, even when the countertop vendors (who we bought through separately) slowed us down. We had a trailer door removed and full sized wood door put in. The door was painted and hung very professionally. Vasa Construction's bids for work were reasonable, and worth every penny spent. Good work at a fair price can be hard to find. If we ever need any other projects done - we'll definitely be getting back in touch with Alfredo/Vasa Construction.
