I came across this ballroom when I was looking on Yelp. Everyone here was friendly and especially our instructor Leanna who is very nice, knowledgeable, and experienced. She had a lot of great ideas for our dance routine, which was the waltz. I really liked how she gave us different options on the different moves that would look good for certain parts of our song. She was also very open to what we wanted to do and how advanced we wanted the routine to be. My husband and I had a very great experience especially for his first time dancing ballroom. We felt very comfortable asking Leanna questions whenever needed. Also, we both felt pretty comfortable when we had to perform on our wedding day and the routine came out like how we wanted. We took a total of 10 lessons which I think was perfect. I think it's best to have the whole routine completed by lesson 7 or 8 so you have at least 2-3 lessons to rehearse the whole routine with music over and over again at the studio. I highly recommend practicing at home after each lesson. Also, to re-run the whole routine with music at home at least 5-10 times prior to the wedding day. We were very pleased with our routine. Update: the owner called me, which I kinda expected. I have to say I didn't expect how nice and understanding she is! Basically, she said that she is taking this very seriously, has had a long conversation with the instructor in question, and wants to get a fuller account from me to make sure she hasn't missed anything. We had a great conversation! I have been called/messaged by yelp businesses a couple of times before but this one really is the best response an owner can give. Still leaving the original review up because I think it's important for people to know that this kind of experience exists. The owner has suggested that we should finish our remaining sessions with a different instructor just so we can end with a good experience. We might do that. I highly recommend Bella Ballroom if you are looking to choreograph your first dance or just regular dance classes. My husband and I are not dancers and we had never danced before, so it took us about 15 lessons but we managed to put together a great choreography for our first dance. To start out this review, I want to put it in a good note that the instructor was very nice and knowledgable. We found this ballroom when we was eating Thai place next door, we came in and ask. The owner said 1st consultation is free, just get to know each other, then listen to some songs we have in mind for our first dance. However, this is our 1st introductory consultation, and after making the sale pitch, we asked if we could go home and consider, and we would call back tomorrow. The owner immediately said" $20 for today please". $20 is not a big deal, but this never mentioned/showed up in any of our previous communications with the owner. She also showed a very unhappiness on the her face. Definitely will find a different place. read more

My wife Elizabeth and I were recently married and had no prior ballroom experience but we wanted to do something special for our first dance that captured our personalities. We were able to do this and more by coming to Bella Ballroom Dance Studio and working with Tiffer! Everyone at the front desk was also great, easy to talk to and friendly. We interacted with Gaby the most who was very helpful and enjoyed her company. From the beginning with our first lesson, we not only gained new skills but new friends as well. He was amazing and patient with us when we were still learning things and practicing lifts. It always felt enjoyable without any pressure and this helped remove any nervousness we had. I like to choreograph and Tiffer would work with me including my mother/son dance which was really appreciated. We had fun and shared laughs every single lesson but also noticed how fast we were growing in terms of our formal dancing skills. The place is very organized and while people go there for their first dance, the studio offers other options and teaches many styles as well. There are other restaurants and a coffee shop nearby. If you are looking for a dance studio and not sure where to go, let me make the choice easy for you, go to Bella Ballroom and ask for Tiffer! Adam and I had the best time at Bella Ballroom! We had Marco as our instructor and truly he made the weeks leading up to our wedding (also a super stressful time) something that the both of us looked forward to and so much fun! We bought a package of ten lessons to be prepared for our wedding first dance and had Nick at Bella Ballroom as our instructor. Starting off, we were uncoordinated and had no idea what we were doing but he was able to teach us and make us feel comfortable throughout our lessons. He choreographed simple turns and lifts that looked impressive to our guests and coordinated with our custom music. We had a blast and it ended up being a fun date night throughout wedding planning for us. I couldn't boast enough about Bella Ballroom! My (now) husband and I were about a month out from our wedding and as the day neared we got more and more nervous about our first dance. We have both played sports all our lives and definitely have 2 left feet when it comes to dancing! We reluctantly signed up for dance lessons and I personally was not looking forward to what I thought would be an awkward few weeks of lessons and attempting to learn a "complicated" routine. We are new to the Newport area and my husband discovered Bella Ballroom and Ziva on yelp. Boy am I happy we chose her! Ziva was so chill and cool and in the first instant I felt comfortable and relaxed. We scheduled 5 lessons right then and there and she was always very flexible, professional and patient. We giggled our way through the first lesson as we attempted to learn the moves and by the end of the 5th lesson we had an amazing, classy dance (full of twists, turns and even a mini-lift) to our first dance. I was shocked at how easy and fun it all was! What I was originally dreading turned into one of my more favorite (and least stressful) parts of the wedding planning process! My husband and I did the 10 week package at Bella Ballroom and it was an experience we will never forget. We scheduled an appointment for our initial consultation and that was when we met Nick. Nick took the time to tell us about himself and his background and also time to learn about us and why we wanted dance lessons. Our goal was to do something very special for our first dance on the night of our wedding. Our vision was to start off with a nice ballroom dance that would spontaneously turn in to a hip hop medley. My husband and i love to dance, but neither of us knew anything about ballroom dancing or choreographing a routine. Right away Nick grasped the concept of what we were going for. During our initial meeting, Nick showed us "the box". While this step is basic, it was foreign and took us some time to get used to. Nick was there to guide us and help us from the start. Our first experience went so well that we opted to go with the 10 week package on the spot. After that, as it got closer to our wedding, we strategically planned our lessons (we went once a week) to end a week before our wedding. Each week we would go in and put together our routine with Nick. Throughout the whole process Nick was super patient with my husband and i. He knows how to teach people while also making it fun. He uses silly metaphors such as "drunk pizza girl" and "t-rex arms" that really help you remember how to maintain position and look your best. Our wedding has since passed and i can say with confidence that my husband and i killed our routine! Our guests were so impressed and entertained. We had a blast performing for all of them and it was something special that my husband and i hardly remember, but will never forget. If you're wanting or are in need of dance lessons for whatever reason, i fully recommend going to Bella Ballroom and hiring Nick as your instructor. We found Bella Ballroom through Yelp since my wife and I wanted to do a dance for our wedding back in September. Glad we found Bella Ballroom. Got an introductory assessment and decided to go with Bella Ballroom on the spot. We learned a "box" and we discussed what we wanted out of the dance...like a few twirls and lifts here and there. Nick was our instructor, we absolutely enjoyed learning from him! He's easy to work with, fun to learn from, and overall just a good dude! We looked forward to working with him during our time there, hoping to see him dancing out there somewhere! Learning a new dance can be intimidating, but all that goes away once you're in it. As a piece of advice, I'd recommend practicing the dance outside of the class, it'll make things much more enjoyable and you get to learn more during the actual class. At the end, our wedding guests loved our dance, some even asked where we learned. Highly recommend this studio. It doesn't get too busy from our experience, and its in a good location (surrounded by other wedding related shops). We paid for 5 classes initially, ended getting 2 more on top of it, mainly because we were proud of what we learned and we wanted to keep practicing and ensure it looked good for the big day! Nick was our instructor and he was so much fun! He taught us the waltz and dips and spins. I have never taken dance lessons, my now husband was way better than me lol! We were worried that we would dread coming to dance class because it's not something either of us has ever really done before. But enter Nick and his jokes, it just made the experience fun and relaxing and that made all the difference. We did the 10 class package and the repetition really helped us have confidence to do the dance sequence on our wedding day. I never thought I would learn to do spins and my husband learned dips and lifts, it's crazy how much you can learn in a short span of time. We nixed a move that we were worried we would mess up on our wedding day and Nick totally understood and reworked the sequence with us. On our wedding day everything came together and we didn't mess up lol! Even in heels and my dress, the dance steps work. Pro tip ladies: bring heels similar in height to your wedding shoes and make sure your seamstress bustles your dress high enough to let you dance. I tested the dance steps in my dress fittings, and going backwards like in a waltz didn't work, my dress would get caught in my heels, and the seamstress had to rework the bustle to allow for my dance moves. She did it right and my dress wasn't in the way during our first dance. read more

So, the wife and I had only started planning our wedding 6 months before the wedding day. We knew we had to get the big stuff out of the way first, and that dance lessons could wait till later, if we even took it at all. So a month and a half before the wedding, we finally finalized most of the wedding day plans and were available to actually take the lessons. Bella Ballroom was more than welcome to accommodate us last minute and help us build a routine. Our instructor was Nick, and he was the nicest person to work with because my wife and I had little experience dancing. He broke down steps and told us how to tweak things to make it easier as he saw our habits emerge. 3 lessons in, and we had our routine down, but we had 2 lessons left. We told him we had an idea for our grand entrance and Nick was happy to help. We were going to do a small shuffle routine (edm dance if you don't know what that is), but Nick wasn't familiar with it. Luckily, Ziva stepped in and showed us the basics! So for the final 2 lessons, we were switching between Nick to practice our first dance routine, and Ziva to practice our grand entrance routine. The big came this past Saturday, and our grand entrance was awesome. We walked out casually and greeted people, but once the beat drop we did our routine and it was a hit. The first dance was great also, except I blanked out for a second and the wife had to correct me. This was completely my fault as nerves had gotten to me. I highly recommend Nick and Ziva! read more

Our instructor Ziva was awesome and guided us through every step of the way. She made a couple with two left feet look like pros (or at least good enough to wow our guests). From the free introductory session on she was patient and helped us get the moves down. She allowed us to be part of the process and always gave us options for things to include throughout our song. If you don't want to walk onto the dance floor and look like a couple at the 8th grade dance, then this is the place to get some help.
