The waffle was cold and so was the butter so you obviously can't spread the butter. The syrup wasn't hot enough to offset the other cold conditions. The bacon was way undercooked. My husband ordered the smoked salmon omelette. He said it wasn't smoked salmon. The capers were tasteless. Anyway, this was for my Brother's 70th birthday. I paid and gave a 25% plus tip at the time of the order. They delivered to our table as you order upfront. Needless to say the tip was way over the food quality. Stopped by here the other day a couple of copies. I've been wanting to try this place out for several years now, but after having moved away from Sacramento, I've never been able to make it! We got a lot to her and mocha, which are fine! Mocha was a lot better than the latte, full of properly mixed chocolate flavors. So I latte was a little underwhelming, however. I don't recommend it. Been a patron of this establishment at least since 2000 however I can say I will not be back. To not follow guidelines that our local and state agencies have set forth is completely irresponsible. You are putting your local communities lives at risk but more importantly your staff. You could have stayed open for takeout only but you made the selfish decision to have dine in. Pretty nice place if I'm in the area I'll stop here for breakfast or lunch. Breakfast is pretty busy but we came at 1 for lunch and hardly anyone in here. I like this place but I wouldn't drive out of the way for it. It's a little pricey but I've never had a bad meal. Today I had their black bean and quinoa burger and my friend had their Bella bru club sandwich which looked very good. We also got a side order of fries. Everything was great- probably because we were some of the only people here and the staff wasn't rushed. I've had their portobello mushroom burger before and it was the best- i hope they bring it back later in the year again! I can say, though, to not get any of their desserts-- my friend got a slice of their raspberry lemon cake and it was a tiny slice and insanely dry and clearly was sitting there for days. The woman (Stephanie) that took my order at the counter was very rude, rushed me, snatched my credit card out of my hand, interrupted me in the middle of ordering because she asked me my name for the order. The young woman that was clearing tables was also serving customers their plates of food, I also saw her folding clean napkins, and touching clean forks, knives & spoons. I was very satisfied by the service at this location last night. The house was packed -my water was never empty, there was someone always available to answer a question, the food was amazing, and everyone seemed to flow with traffic. My polpettini was delish; however, the last meatball was uncooked inside. Already happy and ready to ask for a box, my friend brought it to my attention. I asked one of the bussers if thats normal, who was wide-eyed in shock and without question took it away. 20 mins go by. Ok... is she coming back to replace the one meatball? NO. Avoid Bella BOO at all costs. I was on a lunch break and popped in to order a cobb salad to go. At lunch time, there was one person taking orders so the line was very long. Eventually, with more help, 10 minutes after waiting in line, I placed my order. My server was friendly. After waiting another 10 minutes, my order was delivered and I drove back to work. Unfortunately, I didn't double check and all I got for my $15 was a green salad (with the wrong dressing). Because of the cost, I drove back and had one of the worst customer service experiences I've had at a restaurant (although after reading other reviews here, seems typical for Bella Boo). The manager, Stephanie, has no natural people skills (although training and a smile would go a long way!), which only caused me to escalate. I arrived frustrated, but not angry. The server remembered me (I didn't have a receipt because I wasn't given one). Stephanie proceeded to dig through all the receipts while I just stood there for about another 10 minutes - going from agitated to angry. Stephanie explained she has no authority to give me my money back despite the server remembering me, remembering m order, and, of course, I was standing there with the salad in hand. Another 10 minutes of digging through the receipts, she finally found it and gave me my money back. That was 30+ minutes of my life I can't get back. Everyone makes mistakes, but the difference in losing a customer and all the people the unhappy customer will tell, and saving one is service recovery. If the server said she remembered me and gave me back my money within a minute and I was on my way, I wouldn't be adding to the litany of complaints about BBoo. In addition, if the manager had added a sweet, "I'm so sorry this happened to you, let me give you a refund and a certificate for a free salad," would have turned this around completely. The food was good and the outdoor seating pleasant, but the reason for my poor rating was management's refusal to mail my debit card back to me. My error, I know, but I didn't realize I had left my card behind until I was in San Francisco later that day. I spoke with the manager, and asked her to mail my card to me, but she didn't think it was possible....didn't have a stamp....etc. So, today it has taken me nearly 1.5 hours to set up my replacement debit card with all of my autopay accounts. I came here with a friend on our lunch break and we were both first-timers here! We came in during peak hour of lunch and it was pretty packed. I ordered the Asian Chicken Salad and it was very satisfying! It had a combination of produce - lettuce, cabbage and carrots topped with a sweet savory dressing. There were a few slices of chicken breasts that were super flavorful and scrumptious! They are very generous with their proportions - enough for 2 to share. I was only able to finish about 1/3 of the salad! My friend ordered their tuna melt and it certainly looked delicious and tasted great - so she says! Bella Bru is a nice Cafe style restaurant. There is nice outdoor seating, but with 108degree weather, no one was outside. I wasn't expecting very fancy food, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that there is a variety of sandwiches and salads, all of which are fancier than the average fast food joint or diner. I ordered the cobb salad; it wasn't the best cobb I've ever had, but it was better than average. I had more than a few bites of the cheeseburger though, and it was freaking amazing. I usually don't like hamburgers, but Bella Bru serves a delicious one and I almost finished it. The service is definitely lacking. They give you the option of either "dining in" or ordering from the cashier and having your food brought. We wanted to be waited on, and let them know that, but we ended up waiting for about 10 minutes with no one acknowledging our presence. You also don't get your drinks refilled or anything like that, so I don't really know why they have the option of waiter service.... read more

I'm so disappointed with Bella Bru in how they handle food safety concerns and customer satisfaction. We've been long time Bella Bru customers and frequent the restaurant almost weekly. I ordered the French dip sandwich and part of the meat was too undercooked, not medium rare, looked raw. I already ate half the sandwich before I noticed the other half was raw and immediately stopped eating. Our server was very busy (the couple next to us eventually left because of no service), so it took a long time to get her attention. By the time she came over, the rest of my family already finished eating. The manager offered to re-make my sandwich, however, since my family was already done, I didn't want to wait any longer. I also didn't want to eat more food in case I did get sick. Although my concern was food safety, the manager declined to comp my whole meal and offered 50% off because I ate half the sandwich. I understand if a customer eats half a meal, then complains they don't like it, only 50% off. However, my concern was that I may have eaten half a sandwich that was undercooked! Before I wrote this post, I returned to Bella Bru to talk to a different manager. She informed me that it is the owners policy to reimburse only 50% even if a customer accidentally eats half a meal that is rare and there is a risk the customer can get sick. This used to be my favorite restaurant & this is no reflection on the great morning cashiers. They know my favorite drink and always welcomed me. Unfortunately, it's clear the owner doesn't value long term loyal customers and because of her strict law like policy on not addressing food safety concerns & complete disregard of customer satisfaction, we will no longer return. read more

Walked in for a take out order of their version of a club sandwich, seems like they gave me half a sandwich and partially cooked fries. I sat and watched order after order come out of the kitchen. I am a fan of Luna Lounge so of course I am also a fan of Bella Bru Cafe. I have stopped in for a cup of coffee here and there on occasion but had the opportunity to eat breakfast here awhile back. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon (well done), and dry sourdough toast with a cup of coffee to wash it all down. My order arrived at my table within 5 minutes of ordering which was convenient. Everything was made to order so it was fresh and hot. The cafe was clean and tidy and there were plenty of booths to sit at even on a busy Saturday morning. This is my first yelp review in my life. I had not done business with Bella Bru for about 10 years as when I previously went in there with kids in tow, I showed up five minutes before closing ans was given menus to order. Immediately after the waitress took a prior customer's order, before she took my order, the night manager stuck his head out the order window and said the kitchen was now closed and my order would not be taken. The exact time was two minutes before closing. I swore never to be back. Fast forward to today. Spent the whole day watching my 97 year old father in law fight for his life in the intensive care unit. My wife, daughter, 89 year old mother in law needed to get some dinner and discuss tough advanced care issues. We showed up at 8:30 p.m. as my wife thought Bella Bru would be a nice quiet place to eat. I parked right in front and got the walker for my mother in law and we all walked in. There were two parties still eating and seating everywhere and the whole restaurant was wide open. Then, before we could sit down, the waiter came up and said the restaurant was closed and that we could eat i the bar if we wanted. That was unacceptable because it is loud and very busy as they had some type of reunion going on. We asked if we could eat in the restaurant and the waiter firmly said no. The time was about 8:35 pm. My message to Bella Bru is as follows: Twice in 10 years I have come in during business hours and have been denied service because the personnel in charge care more about their closing duties then serving their customers. Any service business knows that the business is open until closing time. Customers coming in before closing are entitled to the same service as the first customer for the day. As this is a repeat performance it is obvious management of this entity encourages this behavior. I will not ever patronize this place again and I encourage everyone to avoid this place. read more

My iced white mocha was well-made and my spinach salad with warm bacon balsamic dressing (my favorite new bacon incarnation!) was SO freaking good. I don't even like spinach but I loved that salad! I only noted one person behind the counter with a mask mostly under his nose. Wait staff, coffee maker, cooks, no one had masks. I could not bear to eat there. The mask mandate is absolutely not enforced as customers also had no masks and there appeared to be no social distancing inside or outside. Stay away if you value your health. I had been a previous customer and it was a much different place. Today it is dirty and a totally negative atmosphere. I will encourage others to no longer go there as well. I was charged full price for a three decker club with turkey (no turkey). What the hell? Oh, the Diet Coke was good with a free refill. I get that prices have gone up across the board and I do not begrudge a higher price for a quality sandwich. Bella has been our neighborhood go to place for breakfast and lunch but I think a small car ride to Hungry Hollow at Manzanita and Winding Way will be our next outing. Long story short, I am on SSDI and it is a real financial stretch to come here but I made the decision that I would come once a month on payday as a special treat.
