I'll preface this by saying I knew this wasn't a five star steakhouse or anything. From the menu you could tell it's just a blue collar family style very basic meatloaf mashed potatoes type place, with very affordable prices. I'm staying at a nearby hotel for a trade show I'm involved in and didn't feel like traveling far and everything else was fast food and this was a sitdown place so that's why I decided to go there despite the fact I knew it was not high end. The food was priced well there was lots of people and so I knew everything was relatively fresh, but I just had to laugh when my Dish arrived. I settled on the flank steak and shrimp combo platter no mashed potatoes. I opted for veg instead and no cornbread or buns since I'm trying to be keto. I also got a glass of wine, which was happy hour prices and very reasonable when my Dish arrived. It was hilarious instead of a steak. It looked like a cow penis! It tasted fine although it was a little past the "medium" I had requested. They delivered it with a bottle of A1 sauce without me requesting it. that further indicating this is a very basic basic restaurant since at fine dining establishments with steak they are offended if you order A1 sauce! I happen to like A1 sauce even with nice steaks and so I just had to chuckle, but I did like my A1 sauce! The shape was just hilarious. Brookfields has been our go-to breakfast spot in Sacramento for years, and even after moving out of state (and coming back), it's still the standard we compare every other breakfast place to. Honestly, we haven't found anything that comes close. I order the same thing every single time: the 7-ounce steak and eggs, medium rare, and I swap the toast for a pancake with bananas baked inside. I can't overstate how good this meal is. The steak is always cooked just right, the eggs are perfect, and that banana pancake takes it to another level. It's one of those dishes you start craving before you even walk in the door. We've even gone there for "breakfast dinner" because sometimes you just need it. Yes, it's more expensive than it was many years ago when we first started going. It's no longer the ultra-affordable spot it once was. But we also know they treat and pay their employees well. We've had family members work there while attending college, and that matters to us. Supporting a business that takes care of its people makes the higher price easier to accept. Beyond the food, it's just a cozy place. If you can grab a booth, even better. There's something comfortable and familiar about it that keeps us coming back. We're lucky to have two locations accessible to us. We prefer the one off Sunrise since it's the first one we ever visited and it has more parking, but the Madison location is just as solid. Until something better and more affordable comes along, Brookfields will remain our favorite. And honestly, it's going to be hard to beat. read more

I've been here several times. I really enjoy their buttermilk pancakes! This place is always busy, yet it is not a loud location. I've only tried their breakfast menu and you can't go wrong with any of their items. I ordered their western skillet with a pancake. The service this time around was ok. The server forgot about our to go container so we had to ask someone else, she was too busy. I tried their oatmeal cookie at the front counter, very delicious! I like this restaurant out of the 3 in the county the best for its decor, the parking and location. I've been to other locations and also used to work at one many years ago when I was in grad school. I support this company and the establishment. They are a greatly owned family restaurant. Our service was good and the food was hot and fresh. My favorite is the Zucchini crisps. And the avgo soup, if I remember correctly, was creamier. This one I had tasted watery. My husband's enchilada was also good. And we wanted to try the seasonal rhubarb pie but they were all out! I've been wanting to try this place for a while because of the rating and how good I heard it was. This was a spontaneous trip after Thanksgiving on Black Friday and I am so glad that I went. It is really cute inside with very personal touch. Touches such as old school items, and pictures even in black-and-white. I love that this is family owned. They have various options to choose from including breakfast even in the late afternoon. This is what I went for. I was very satisfied with my omelette and my husband absolutely loved his chicken fried steak. Our server was very kind, helpful and was attentive. Went here for brunch and got lucky with the wait time, we got sat within 5 minutes, right before a big rush. The restaurant was large, open, and gave off those feel-good diner vibes that just work for a weekend brunch. We kicked things off with the fruit mimosas, which were super flavorful and refreshing. Service was prompt and to the point, no complaints there. Our food came out fairly quickly and totally hit the spot. One thing I really appreciated: the bathroom had tampons available for emergencies. Small detail, but it says a lot about the kind of place this is. I love this place!! Here right now with the fam. The orange cranberry scone so hot out the oven it was steaming. I get the SF Joes scramble and it's always great since I live in the gym and so focused on good protein and counting my calories. Wife got the artichoke quiche and it was steps ahead the quiche at Ettorres. Coffee was hot, potatoes were perfect and I love their seasoned salt that's on the table. I need to get one to go. Brookfields is probably the most legit breakfast diner we have here in Rancho. I've been here a couple times now since I've moved here and it's good. On this visit I got the country fried steak. They give you a healthy portion of gravy which is nice. The chicken was not as crisp as I wanted it to be. There was enough gravy to add to the biscuit as well. I do really like their fresh squeezed orange juice too. Service was reasonably fast and friendly. The restaurant is also quite spacious and can accommodate big groups. I've never had a really long wait here. If you're in Rancho, this is the traditional breakfast spot to try. read more

Although it may sound like a shopping mall, Brookfields is a spacious family oriented restaurant in Rancho Cordova that has a massive menu and high quality all day breakfast as well as the best French dip I've ever had and a decent country fried steak as well. I would also want to give kudos for the customer service in allowing me to reserve a table for 10 when I arrived and sit down before the rest of my party arrived. I used to think the breakfasts at Brookfield's were pretty good. Today my chicken fried steak was anything but. The meat had a rubbery texture, and the breaded coating was not crunchy, so I know it had been out of the fryer quite a while before it landed on my table. Came into Brookfields for the first time yesterday evening to celebrate our son's birthday, and had a wonderful experience. So many options to choose from but we decided on the nachos, patty melt, haddock, chicken strips & tots for the little guy, ahi wonton taco and the strawberry shortcake to end the night. Everything was delicious, the only thing I would note is that the chips that came with the nachos were very thin and hence were prone to breaking but that's no biggie. Stopped in here for breakfast with the family. I had the corned beef hash with biscuit and gravy on the side. What an absolute disappointment it was. Corned beef was not flavorful and the biscuit did not taste fresh at all. The worst part that kind of tip things over the gravy was a like a lump of dough. There should of been some smoothness to gravy. I turned the bowl upside down and it did not budge. I'm sure the server saw how lumpy, dried, and old it looked and she still served it to me. I've never been impressed with this restaurant. This is my 3rd time here and it has never been a satisfying experience. I'm most likely not coming back here anymore at least not by my own will. First time coming into Brookfields and it definitely felt like you were wrapped in a hug at grandma's house. The food felt like comfort food, which was needed on a rainy Sunday night. I ended up getting the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy and my husband got beef stroganoff, he said it reminded him of his childhood. Our server, Nick was attentive! After a loooooong day at the Mather VA hospital with my darlin' man, on St. Patrick's Day, no less, I knew I could count on Brookfields for a dependably delicious corned beef and cabbage meal. Our daughter's softball team had a Saturday tournament with a long break between games, so about 20 of us headed to Brookfields for brunch. They did an amazing job getting our large party seated all together right away, and we were in and out in about an hour. The service was great--attentive, quick with refills, and very accommodating with multiple checks. I ordered the eggs Benedict and thought it was one of the best I've ever had. My husband had the French toast with eggs and bacon, which he said was delicious, and my daughter ordered from the kids' menu and really enjoyed her meal too. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of an issue with the kids' juice pricing. The menu clearly says $0.99, but I was charged $7.95. Another parent's kids were correctly charged $0.99 for the same size juice. When I asked the waitress about it, she admitted she brought large juices by mistake and said she'd talk to the manager. However, when she returned, she didn't adjust my bill, dropped if off and said nothing. I quickly noticed and asked again about it, she said it was charged correctly and said she would be adjusting the other parent's to the higher price as well. Without even telling them, she added extra to their bill--which was frustrating and awkward. Thankfully, after we asked to speak with the manager, he was very kind and quickly fixed everything. He adjusted both checks so we were all charged correctly. That saved me about $10 once gratuity was factored in. Overall, the food was excellent, the service was friendly, and they handled a big group really well. If not for the billing hiccup, this would have been an easy 5-star experience. read more

This restaurant is absolutely adorable -- large, airy, and much more spacious inside than it looks from the outside. Our group ordered the Asian salad and the blue cheese & steak salad -- both were huge! They didn't skimp on the protein either. The homemade dressings were full of flavor, my chicken was incredibly tender, and again, the portions were gigantic. The two young boys in our group split a burrito and gave it two thumbs up. The next day, we came back and tried the chicken pot pie with a side salad. The pot pie was excellent -- clearly homemade, with plenty of tender diced chicken (all good quality meat -- no fat, gristle, bones, or dark meat). Comfort food at its best! Darlene was our server -- 6 stars out of 5! She went above and beyond with her outstanding customer service, and we truly enjoyed her. She was amazing from start to finish! We had Nick the evening before and he was excellent as well, 5 out of 5 stars for him. Heidi, although she wasn't our server, deserves a huge shoutout too. There was an incident behind our booth where a man made very unkind and inappropriate comments about my friends and me. Heidi handled it with complete professionalism, keeping an eye out for us and letting her manager know right away. The flavors were mild the presentation basic and the dishes felt like familiar comfort food that never really changes. It is the same average meals done the same way every time which may be comforting to some but uninspiring to others. The service can be spotty. Some staff members are friendly attentive and genuinely pleasant while others seem disengaged and as though they do not want to be there at all. That inconsistency makes the experience feel uneven from visit to visit. What puzzles me most are the consistently strong reviews. I suspect much of it comes from familiarity and convenience rather than the food itself. If you have been coming here for years and know exactly what to expect this place likely feels dependable. Overall Brookfields feels like a restaurant that survives on routine rather than excellence.
