However, the vegetarian/vegan options were limited, and the few options did not have a good protein source. Came here for lunch, walked in and was greeted right away. The restaurant was small but very cutely decorated. I was recommended the Cuban and it did not disappoint. My daughter insisted on finding a good Cuban/latin inspired restaurant. So we passed by Bella Cuba on the trolley, and decided that was where we were going. The restaurant isn't to big inside, so you may want to make a reservation if its a busy day or if you have a larger party. It wasn't to many people when we went so we got a table right away. We were promptly greeted when we entered by the friendly waiter (steve i think). He was very attentive to our needs. He told us his recommendations and answered all our questions... They sometimes have live music here as well. A very laid back vibe. We got the cubano egg roll which had shredded beef, black beans, and bbq sauce. It was pretty good, but keep in mind you only get 1 for almost $12...That's a little steep to me. Also we got the Papitas bravas which was about $8. Its sauteed potatoes with garlic and chorizo. It had lots of flavor and was pretty good... My blood pressure wasn't to happy about it, but I'd certainly get it again. We both also got the drunken chicken and rice. Its cooked in some sort of beer and comes with rice and 2 other sides. I got the plantains and black beans. I enjoyed the rice and plantains.The plantains we slightly sweet. Mmmm. I ordered the garlic shrimp entree which had a nice buttery flavor but it wasn't the kind of meal that stood out from other restaurants. I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience was too disappointing not to speak up. The food was a complete disaster. My dish was undercooked, especially the chicken, which was borderline raw in the center. On top of that, everything was drenched in seasoning to the point where it was inedible--way too salty and over-spiced, like they were trying to cover up poor quality ingredients. To make it worse, the portions were tiny and absurdly overpriced. I left still hungry and frustrated that I wasted my money. But what bothered me most was how the restaurant tries to present itself as Cuban, when in reality it felt more like an Americanized attempt to cash in on Cuban culture. The flavors, presentation, and even the atmosphere lacked any authenticity. It felt more like a gimmick than a genuine tribute to Cuban cuisine. Honestly, it felt like they were dishonoring the culture by reducing it to a theme instead of respecting its roots. Each dish seemed prepared with home cooking care, even though the crowd was a little touristy and business-y (from the convention center). Drunk Chicken Rice w/ Fried Yuca & Tostones: Seemed to be highly recommended on Yelp, so decided to give it a try. It's like a wetter paella, with no crispy bottom. Lots of delicious saffron flavor infused into the rice and bunch of roast chicken pieces. Ordering two fried items as side dishes worked well to add a nice crispy contrast to the soupy rice. Both sides were fried just great. Lechón Asado: I've had a lot of lechón over the years, but this one definitely ranks up there for most flavorful. All sorts of great spices in the marinade making each thinly cut slice of pork delicious. The boiled yuca got a glow up with the amazing mojo sauce; who knew boiled vegetables could taste so good! The moro had a nice ratio of rice to beans. Tres Leches Cake: So creamy. Cake infused with cream, cream sauce on the side and cream on top! Looks intense after a heavy meal, but surprisingly goes down lately. The extra chocolate sauce, fruit sauce and cinnamon pool was a fun addition. read more

We tried Bella Cuba on the recommendation of the check in team at our hotel, who told us that everything the family owned restaurant served was authentic home made Cuban food. That recommendation was spot on and we loved our first visit so much, we stopped in twice (so far) during our Miami trip. The restaurant is welcoming and the staff couldn't be friendlier, quick with recommendations and super personable. We first tried Bella Cuba for dinner, ordering the most delicious chicken croquettes I've ever tasted (truly creamy, melt in your mouth good) and two empanadas, one chicken and one beef. Both were great but the traditional beef empanada, rich and savory with slices of green olives, won the day. I had the drunk chicken rice for dinner (arroz con pollo) and my husband had the ropa vieja. Each came with two sides (we opted for tostones, maduros, yuca and yuca fries to share between us) and we loved everything. We left stuffed and happy. We came in a second time for cold beer, a mojito, snacks and flan following a beach day. We opted for the empanadas (all beef this time), chicken croquettes and crispy plantain chips which came with a remarkable mojo dipping sauce. The flan, too, was notable. Great find! The staff here are really friendly and helpful, and the food is great. On my first visit I had the Cuban Sandwich, which as very tasty. There was a good amount of delicious meat, and the sauce was excellent. I could eat that sandwich every day! On my second visit I had the Glazed Tropical Chicken, with sides of Black Beans & Rice and Yuca Fries. Everything was really good. I also tried the Cerveza Palma, which is apparently a beer based on the recipe of a Cuban beer but not actually brewed in Cuba. I will definitely make a point of stopping in to Bella Cuba anytime I am in Miami. It was a great experience with great food, and it is conveniently located just around the corner from the Lincoln Road outdoor mall. Went here on 4/25/21 before I was going to go on a bus tour of Miami. My husband and I walked in and despite there being open tables and tables that needed bussed, we were told that we couldn't sit down because we didn't have a reservation. Ummm ok. We asked to order ahead at the counter and my husband and I ordered two traditional Cuban sandwiches ($11 each) and an order of house croquettes ($6.90.) My husband went to go buy some flip flops across the street so I was left standing at the counter. I felt awkward standing there, so I asked the woman who took our to-go order if I could sit at a table outside so I'm not in their way. She said yes. After about 20 minutes, it started to POUR rain in torrents. I came in and asked the same woman who took our order if I could sit inside at one of the tables that was still empty from when we initially walked in. She acted totally confused and in Spanish told another guy that I wanted to order at a table. No. That's not what I asked. He motioned for me to sit down and brought two menus. I said, "no, I already ordered." He said, "oh okay and walked off." After almost another 10 minutes, I was going to be late for my tour and asked if my to-go order was ready. The lady asked what I ordered, checked the bag that was sitting on the bar and told me that was my order. I opened it up and it was missing the croquettes. I told her and she told the kitchen that looked confused. After a few minutes they found the croquettes boxed up near the bar. I left with my order but it was raining so hard that the paper bag literally disintegrated in my arms. Also, the food was cold. My husband and I ate the food while in line on our bus tour. It would have been better hot, but we liked the food. Service is what made this a 2 star experience. read more

The skirt steak was presented rolled up like a rose which was beautiful and made cutting it up easier than ever. I ordered it done medium. It came with two sides. I got the yuca fries and the fried sweet plantains. Both were really good as expected. The steak was just seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly. It was even served quickly. I have no idea how. They had a bunch of mojito flavors so I asked which was best. They served me the coconut mojito and it was very good, strong but sweet. I'm on a vacation to Cuba, here in Miami Beach. Every year I attend the ISET meeting I relish the chance to savor Cuban cuisine . I love plantains and the rich earth Cuban spices that are cooked slowly and with love of food! As my first time to this Washington Ave restaurant I ordered the Oxtail Stew , which is one of their specialties. It was served in a bowel with large pieces of succulent "fall off the bone" tender juice meat. I tried to NOT Think of where anatomically the tail is located..... since it really was so delicious I even needed to ask Max, my waiter, for some Cuban bread to dip the delicious sauce in. Not one morsel went to waste. I had the choice of two sides ( and if you know me I'm brainwashed to eat my vegetables). Well there's not a lot of green vegetables in the Cuban diet, at least not in the restaurants I've been to . So I had the salad and tostones which are flat fried slices of green plantain. It was way to good of a meal to not finish it of with the flan ( see photos). All was delicious ... but ohhh did I mention I also enjoy a Mojito? ( I fasted all day except for a tiny chicken wrap and some fruit Salad) Anyway the mojito was served with bubbling dry ice and was awesome. This little hidden gem is located on Washington Ave near Lincoln Rd Shopping Mall across the street from the Bank of America building next to Raising Cane's. We were walking by and their menu caught our attention as we wanted Cuban food for dinner. As appetizer, we had their Tostones Rellenos...as main course, I had their 'Glazed Tropical Chicken' which consists of Pineapple and honey with a touch of mustard & Paprika accompanied by a Strawberry Mojito. My husband had their 'Camarones Al Ajillo' (Garlic Shrimp) and a Hatuey Beer. Food tasted delicious, cooked to perfection with great presentation... they serve the best 'Ropa Vieja' I've ever had! I was craving ceviche and a mojito during a trip to Miami and this place was highly rated, so I decided to give it a try. The ceviche was SO good and perfectly paired with plantain chips to scoop it up with. The passionfruit mojito arrived smoking, which was a fun surprise. It was really good-- not overwhelming sweet and surprisingly strong. I ended the meal with a Cuban coffee, which was a nice jet lag antidote.
