When we walked in, the restaurant looked just like the photos online. The atmosphere was nice, the music was enjoyable, and it was somewhat wheelchair- and stroller-accessible for those who need it. Our server, Isabel, was friendly and provided great service. Unfortunately, the food didn't meet my expectations. We ordered the baked chicken and churrasco. The chicken was extremely dry, and the yellow rice tasted like it had been sitting in a warming tray for too long without being stirred. The churrasco seemed like it hadn't been marinated or seasoned long enough. It tasted rushed, and the flank steak was chewy and lacked flavor. The white rice side that I had with the churrasco tasted like it had too much water in the white rice and the beans needed more seasoning. For drinks, I ordered a Jamaican-brand ginger beer that typically costs about $1 in New York, but it was priced at $7 here. My husband's guava juice, our children's apple juice and two orders of a scoop of vanilla ice cream were $10 each, which also felt excessive. I travel to Cuba frequently, and nothing about this restaurant reminded me of the authentic Cuban food or dining experiences I've had there. Overall, it felt like an overpriced, gentrified interpretation of Cuban cuisine. While the service was excellent, I wasn't impressed with any of the food or drinks we ordered. I was craving Cuban food and came across this cute, vibrant little restaurant. I ended up sitting outside and dining solo. I happened to be there during their 2 for 1 happy hour. A mojito is listed at $20, so essentially it's about $10 each during HH. It was decent, nothing special. I ordered the beef empanadas to start and they were surprisingly very good. Juicy, flavorful, and the sauce they came with paired nicely. For my entrée, I went with the lechon asado (roast pork). The pork itself was tender and juicy, but the flavor was a bit on the bland side. It was served with moro rice and a side of yuca, which unfortunately came out a little mushy. An 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill. Overall, it was a pleasant spot with a lively atmosphere, though the food was a bit hit or miss. Meh. read more

So for start when we went in the servers were yelling at each other, creating an awkward atmosphere, then we order the food and that was great.. then 20 minutes for a cold espresso.. and the check came with $12 for complementary water? Stopped in for a tasty beverage which happened to be impromptu happy hour on a Sunday night at 8pm! Buy one get one free! Usually happy hour is 5-7 but perhaps on Sunday they bend the rules to encourage more business. Mom got the house Cab ($16, so $8 each on HH), and I got the Aperol Spritz, which was very tasty! $19, so $9.50 on HH - it's fabulously refreshing. Ambiance outside on the patio is perfect - music just the right volume and Cuban of course. People watching galore! Sheyla was our darling server and she is just delightful. We asked for regular water and were never told it would be bottled water or that there would be a charge. After tax and an automatically applied 20% gratuity, the water alone came to $29. When I later asked why we weren't offered tap water, the waitress told us that the tap water was not filtered and therefore could not be served. That explanation raised an obvious question: if the tap water isn't suitable to serve to customers, what water is being used to wash dishes and prepare food? The food was okay, but considering the high prices, the quality and service did not justify the cost. Being charged nearly $30 for water we didn't specifically request left a very negative impression. Between the expensive water charge, the automatic gratuity, and the overall dining experience, we were disappointed and will not be returning. read more

I thought this was a really great cuban restaurant on south beach. It had a cute tables set up with the yellow umbrellas and heaters for the chillier night, and the service was friendly: they frequently checked on us and came by often to clean up our plates. There can be a small language barrier with some of the servers who came to refresh our drinks, but overall they were all very kind and attentive. I had the Cuban sandwich which had a generous amount of pork and cheese and was quite delicious. I didn't understand that the Cuban sandwich already came with small fries, so don't be like me and order another side of fries. Overall, really delicious food and nice service. I'm also pretty sure this is part of a chain of 'Havana' restaurants that I've ate at before like the other Havana restaurants nearby on south beach and in Miami. read more

There was a full cockroach smushed into my sandwich and the staff was so rude and wouldn't take the sandwich off my bill. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a phot as just looking at it made me feel ill. Not to mention, they charged me for 12$ bottled water after the server asked if we wanted to start with a glass of water. Well I know I am on South Beach in a touristy location so if I am eating here I expect what comes with being on this area. I am not sure why all the bad reviews the service was very good honestly and the food was fresh and delicious! I had the shrimp ceviche appetizers and it was absolutely delicious. For lunch I went with the old reliable Cuban sandwich! There was loads of meat, great flavor, fresh bread and seasoning. We split sides of tostones , plantains, and black beans and rice. Tried Havana Beach while on a weekend vacation in Miami and I ordered the Roaster Pork Cuban Style. There were a few good bites (the fattier pieces) but overall, it was a bit dry. Portions are on the smaller side for the price point. I did really enjoy the boiled yuca - thought that was really delicious. Liked the yuca con mojo a lot. Paella was fine but could be less salty and the lemon juice doesn't really cut the salt much. Mojito was strong and sweet without being cloyingly sweet. Service was good. Prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area. If I came back it would be to try the Cuban sandwich or slider trio. read more

The food was SO GOOD!! Service was great! Great music! Mostly like spanish b/c hello it is a Cuban restaurant. I just wanted to stop by and eat something quick. So we tried their appetizers only. We had the chicken wings and fries with the homemade Cuban empanadas. SUPER DELICIOUS!! I would recommend them! Glad we stopped by. It was actually like next door to our hotel Avalon. Just had breakfast there and did NOT have a good experience. The food was mediocre AT BEST and very expensive for the quality. Additionally, the wait staff wants you to DOUBLE TIP and if you pay cash they immediately get nasty and begin to make negative remarks amongst themselves. We're locals and go to SOBE once a month for a scheduled dog walk, and always have brunch after.
