If you've been inside you know the lovely smell of unwashed 15 year old carpet. I only went in to pick up my to go pizza. a very basic red sauce and cheese. and somehow got food poisoning from a pizza!! A Pizza!! Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday, yes it is a slow day like many places. However I do not know why more people are not here. Excellent speed on service. Food was out in no time at all! The trio platter here is Lasagna, Stuffed shell, and Manicotti. Came out very hot from the oven. Just the way it should be served! Covered with a generous portion of mozzarella too! The sauce had a strong tomato-base and was not chunky. I prefer it that way. Chopped tomatoes are for salad. Pasta needs sauce, not chunks. Bread was not too heavy and complimented the meal perfectly. Next time you are in Ennis, get away from the freeway chains and stop in here for great Italian food! WOW! So glad we found this gem on the way back to Houston! I really wanted fettuccini alfredo and the pasta combination which was manicotti, lasagna, & stuffed shells. Cindy was kind enough to suggest the kid portion fettuccini since we were concerned of too large of portion size. We were so glad she did because WOW... couldn't even finish that! This place is been here a long time and it is for a reason because they have the best Italian food around. I know Ennis is small but I have been to Napolis in Corsicana and some places in Waxahachie - Olive Garden has nothing on this place. My husband always gets spaghetti with meat sauce and extra meat sauce my son usually gets chicken fettuccine and I will either get chicken Parmesan or Picatta. All of the food is super delicious cooked to perfection and generous portions. If you get a salad make sure you ask for the house dressing it is incredible how they have taken Italian dressing with a little marinara and oh my goodness it is truly delicious and so very fresh! read more

Looking for Italian in Ennis? Pick this one!! We recently moved to this delightful small town and was in search of Italian. So glad we tried Bella Italia. Old school Italian decor; Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson piped in at just the level; and a warm staff make an inviting atmosphere. DH reports good pizza, crispy crust and great Italian sausage. The Chicken Florentine was delish! Chicken breast pounded thin and lightly sautéed, in a wonderfully balanced homemade tomato cream sauce with spinach and mushrooms (big, tender and not rubbery at all). And let's not forget the garlic knots. Next time I'm asking for a side of warm marinara for dipping. read more

I am not certain why this restaurant has such good reviews. We ate there several years ago and the food was so bad that we have not been back. We decided to give it a try yesterday. Here are the problems. The waiter took our order for two Cokes, and had the server deliver them to us. Only we received two sweet teas. When the waiter went by I said sweet tea? She smiled and said sweet tea and went on before I could stop her. Finally, on her way back I said no we did not ask for sweet tea; we ordered Cokes Oh, okay. It was a good thing we got them, because we never got a refill or an offer of a refill. Yes, she was the only one waiting on tables when we first arrived, but there were only four to five tables that had people. So service gets a one-star. The food was mediocre at best. I had the chicken piccata, and the chicken breast was tough. The flavor was adequate. My sister had the sampler dish with three different pastas. The only one she actually enjoyed was lasagna. The appetizer bread had absolutely no flavor and only packaged butter was provided. Two stars for the food. Definitely will not be returning nor will I be recommending this restaurant. read more

Mixed seafood over pasta with scampi sauce was excellent. Only problem was that there weren't any scallops as promised. Partner had sausage and peppers with spaghetti. That was delicious, too. One of the best Italian meals I've had, and I've had a lot-trust me. When I searched for a good restaurant in Ennis while I was visiting clients recently I saw the reviews for Bella Italia. I had seen the restaurant on S Kaufman a couple of times and thought "Meh, maybe if I'm REALLY hungry I'll give it a go." After seeing the reviews I decided to give it a shot, and I am glad I did. The outside leaves a lot to be desired, but that's ok, because when you eat you don't often look at the outside of a building, unless you're on the patio. The inside is cozy, quite nice and comfortable. I was seated immediately by a polite, courteous and professional gentleman who took my drink order immediately. I ordered the lunch special, the ravioli di portobello which came with a salad of my choice. I opted for Caesar with dressing on the side. The romaine lettuce was fresh and crisp with crunchy croutons. The dressing was the perfect blend of sweet and tangy which made me want to drink it right out of the side dish it came in. The ravioli came out with one of the largest cuts of portobello mushroom I have ever seen at a restaurant. It was perfectly cut into 4 pieces so I could cut it into the pieces I wanted. When the wine cream sauce over the 4 big raviolis touched my tounge I almost jumped out of my booth with joy. Bella Italia is now my go-to Italian restaurant in Ennis. Even if I have to drive for 15 minutes to her here I'll make it happen. read more

We were on a road trip back from Arizona and stopped on the way to Houston at this place I had found on Yelp. This is the closest to back home good Italian food in the North End in Boston. You have to try the warm olive oil with garlic and bread amazing. Everything my party had was just incredible true Italian food. My only complaint is that it's almost 3 hours away from me or I would eat there at least once a week. Loved it !!!!! read more

Absolutely horrible service, sat at the front for about 30 minutes to be seated just for them to tell me I can sit anywhere I want, when we sat down we weren't given menus we had to go out of the way to look it up online, as time went by nobody came by to ask us for drinks or if we were ready to order, but proceeded to seat everyone else that came in after us, gave them menus and drinks, and proceeded to check on everyone else but us. Some even looked us in the eye and continued to walk by and left us unattended to. Never coming back here again. read more

Portions are great, prices are wonderful, and the food is just fantastic. My son had pizza, daughter had spaghetti, my husband had a chicken special, and I had the manicotti, so we had a great variety to review from!
