Beautiful Restaurant that also has the cutest shop inside. I went here with a group of girls and the food and service were really great. I got a spicy Bloody Mary and a spicy Huevos Ranchero Breakfast. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Excellent customer service. Coffee was wonderful and the food was great. Ask for Eric as your waiter. He's very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Perfect place to go for a nice brunch or lunch.

Phenomenal place!!! It's centered beautiful in downtown Ennis! From the exterior, to the interior, food, drinks, staff and boutique located inside... they have knocked it out of the park!! Erick waited on us today and he was absolutely!! He knew the menu from top to bottom and was so accommodating and attentive to our large group! The food was top notch, so fresh and flavorful!! I can't say a single thing that could've been improved on. We will be back to Ennis again just to stop in the Fern in the Wild!

Took my office manager here yesterday for lunch. Been here once before but for brunch. Really enjoyed it then but this time around not so much. Stood at the hostess stand for a while before someone acknowledged us. Our table service was friendly but the attentiveness was lacking considerably. We ordered Brussels Sprouts, the burger and the chicken sandwich. The sprouts were roasted wonderfully but no distinctive flavor. The burger was average and came with a funky sauce that was more like a remoulade for seafood. The chicken sandwich was the big disappointment. Thin. Dry. No real flavor other than the char on the outer crust. The homemade potato chips were good but could have been much better with say a truffle oil and Parmesan flakes. Ambience was good. One side was a store the other was a restaurant. Behind the bar were two men that looked like possible owners. One with an eye patch and the other looked like he came in from working in the yard. Not really pleasing to the eyes. Not bad experience but just average.

We stopped by the bluebonnet festival in our way to a woman's retreat. We paid to go into some sort of nice farmers market type of festival in downtown Ennis. We decided to eat lunch here. I got the fern bowl. It was a healthy bowl with brown rice, carrots, mushrooms, arugula, and a few other things. It tasted really good! It was creamy and savory! I really loved that this restaurant had multiple vegetarian options. Since it's a small town, it was a little nervous that I wouldn't find anything, but there were multiple things to choose from on this menu. My friend got the BLT sandwich and she liked hers as well. I tried some of her potato chips and they were freshly made from scratch. I would recommend this place to others that are coming to visit the small city. We had fun here! The waitress was also really sweet!

An awesome experience at this cozy restaurant. Associates were very friendly and helpful. The sandwich was so tasty. The dip was very flavorful and the bread was toasted to perfection!! And the latte was so good, I had to get one to-go.

This little cute spot is in downtown Ennis. I've never actually explore Ennis much but we found this little cute spot & decided to try it out. As soon as we walked in they welcomed us in & we sat down. They were very attentive & brought our food within 10 mins of ordering it. The only thing that I personally didn't like was that my meat wasn't cooked all the way & she clearly asked if I wanted it with a little pink & I said no. I told her I wanted it well done. Well, my friend & I got the same thing & they both looked with little pink. But besides that it was a nice experience. The fries cost extra $11 dollars & sandwich was $16. Our tab was about $50 with no tip. The tip was extra extra. According to my friend's experience she said she gives it a 3 out 5 stars as well because, The food LOOKED good. But I felt like it was missing something. Also the vibe is brunch with older people vibes. Why did we go there with our loud babies?

I love this little gem. I went on a weekday for breakfast and the staff were so sweet and friendly! The coffee was excellent - I only got black coffee, but the flavored options looked SOO delicious! Even though it was a smaller breakfast menu, I still had a hard time picking because the options all looked amazing. The avocado toast was BIG and so fresh/tasty. For a place as affordable and approachable as this, it felt very high-end cutesy.

First visit and it was a delight. Lovely decor and atmosphere. Very clean. Carly was a very friendly, welcoming, and attentive server. Knowledgeable about every menu item we asked about. The Caesar was fresh and tasty. The Fern Bowl with shrimp was filling and delicious. The Shrimp Risotto was a seasonal special and should definitely be on the menu - so good! They source locally . Parker the pastry chef does an amazing 4-layer chocolate cake complete with fresh chocolate ganache. He wasn't our server but it was obvious the service is consistent with all the servers there. Well stocked bar and the bartender appeared to take his time with every bev he mixed. Boutique attached - a little pricey but really nice merch. We'll be back soon!

    Cutest latte!

Wow! This was truly one of the best steaks I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The appetizers,…read moredeviled eggs and bacon-wrapped shrimp, were good. The Caesar salad was good, traditional, fresh, and the correct size. The garlic mashed potatoes were good. But the wagyu NY strip was just incredible. It was almost black on the outside and just warm on the inside, a perfect rare as wagyu beef should be. The meat was unctuous and delicious without being greasy or fatty. It was so richly umami flavorful, perfectly seasoned. It was just an excellent steak. The bourbon bread pudding was a huge serving and wonderfully flavorful. There was some nice bread to go with the meal too. The smoked old fashioned cocktail before dinner was excellent. And I got a nice Cabernet that perfectly paired with the steak. Our server was casual but friendly with a good balance of hospitality and service. This was truly a great dinner and one of the best steaks I've ever had... and all of this in Ennis, Texas. If you're reading this review, thank you... but just stop reading and go to Ruston Cattle Company.

Seating is not ideally comfortable for a one and a half to two hour dinner, ambience is not too loud, but not exactly leaning on the side of anything remotely formal. Good for groups, good if you like steak....I will say if you like steak that is overcooked with a 1/2inch burned crust and very salty. Was excited to try the wagyu filet but it was overdone and impossible to enjoy the tenderness when you had to bite through so much burnt. Noticed that they serve a crème brûlée, and unfortunately, it did not live up to it its hype: I received a oval dish about 6 inches long that had a smidge over - I kid you not - a quarter an inch of crème brûlée, including the soggy caramelized crust. When I ran my spoon from one end of the dish to the other, it barely filled up half the utensil - it was rather saddening. Now I am the kind of person that believes in at least a "two times whack" with the bottom of the spoon in order to break the lovely caramel crust on top of a crème brûlée; this poor little dessert was not even thick enough for the spoon to rest upon the crème brûlée without it sinking to the bottom of the dish instantly. Positive notes, our waitress was a little misinformed on the menu, she might've been new and so that was not her fault as she did well in trying to accommodate our party of three - one who is particularly hard of hearing - and their Caesar salad was average, but nothing outstanding, along with the potatoes and brussels sprouts we got along alongside the meal. All this being said, if you like a variety of big pieces of overcooked salted meat with a thick crust, this is the place for you.

My girlfriend took the trays to her house and when I wanted to try it the next day, her family had eaten it....all. Three days later, I happen to going through Ennis on a weekend trip and stopped in to actually try it this time. So I proceeded to order like 3-4 different plates (I was with my girlfriend again, but I knew what my mission was.... Pirogies- really good. We had the cabbage and mushroom; tater and cheese and Piccadillo (a little Tex mex version with ground beef, potato and jalepeno). Honestly, the picadillo was my favorite, all were good though. The sauerkraut and ribs were tasty, they take all of the fun out of it by taking the meat off the bones, but better for service. We had the sausage plate which was really good and finally the potato pancakes with apple sauce. Everything was great. Did not know it at the time, but Granny Dee was our sever!! Sweet woman, great service and we have followed similar paths in our movings over the years. The place over all is in an old building, very nice, clean and comfortable.
