Called in order at 6:15 to pick up 7:30; (gave them an hour) Got to Bella Italia at 7:20, and had to wait an hour plus for our food, 2 pizzas and a salad. Very un-acceptable, realize it was a Sat night of holiday weekend, but waiting an extra hour very un-professional. If they don't have the staff to service customers, plz don't accept any more orders than ur business can handle. Food was excellent, but not worth the stress, of hanging around an additional hr for pizza, with no where to sit. If it was going to be longer than 7:30 timeframe; just tell us time that we can expect to come and order will be ready. We arrived late to HH and needed some good food. This place met our needs and they delivered which made it even better. We ordered 2 pizzas and 2 orders of wings. They met their projected delivery timeline. Each pizza was covered with plenty of toppings. Delicious! The wings were good but not enough kick for us. Shame on us. It is New Years Day and we didn't call the restaurant, but on Yelp and Bella's website it didn't say they were closed. We placed an online order for two pizzas and garlic cheese bread. Paid via Apple Pay, got a text confirmation and email confirmation. Was told food would be ready in about 50 minutes. Got to store...closed! Will be contacting store tomorrow for refund or contacting our bank. Very frustrating that their system was allowed to take orders. Was actually looking forward to trying. Last night was our second visit here. We also came here during our last trip to the island in July. No complaints either time. The food is good, the service is good, and the pricing and location are great. In July, my wife and I split a pizza, and my kids both got pasta dishes, though I can't remember which ones. I know the pizza was delicious; definitely above average. The mozzerla sticks tasted like soft cardboard absolutely no crunch or cheese pull. Perhaphs cuz they are "homemade" but it had absolutely no flavor, same thing with the pizza it was like 90% cheese and 5% sauce and pep. The crust was nice but again, bland and no flavor. The only thing that was kinda good was the wings but they were drencheddd in bbq sauce along with an extra side of sauce lol but they were cooked right i'll give them that. Unfortunately the service has gone way down hill since it appears American employees have been replaced with foreigners who don't speak English or know how to do service to the standards this gem once held. Not only do they not speak English, they talked to each other very loudly in Spanish during my entire meal, where I had to interrupt them to ask for bread, a drink refill and get up to ask for and pay for the check. Ok first let me tell you this was going to get a 2 star review up until the end . 1st we got to restaurant at 8pm not to crowded was seated and then ordered - 20 minutes had passed no wait staff , no table bread , nothing then one salad came to table and we asked where were the other 5 salads. The kitchen staff said there was only one and got the waitress - she then came to the table and said they were out of cesar salad. 20 minutes later to tell us they ran out of salad ? Ok then as it's been 20 minutes we asked for the table bread and wait staff stated it was coming . Ok then about 30 minutes seated they brought out the remaining 5 house salads ( not the cesar that was ordered and that they were out) - still no bread so we asked again and said it was on its way . Then after 60 minutes seated the dinner came out - still no bread - we asked again. Three of us had Chicken parmigiana and one had chicken parmigiana with fettuccine noodles - at least that's what was ordered - what came out was angle hair pasta noodles. One had cheese raviolis and another had raviolis and one had fettuccini noodles and sausages - ( noodles were correct on this order) half way through our meal about 75 minutes since we sat we got our bread - which was 5 pieces and there was 6 of us. Another wait staff female said she will take care of it and 5 minutes later more bread! ? Ok so 6 of us all pretty upset with the service up to this point and then they said we will bring a manager . Manger came out who I Believe to be the cook/ owner came out and apologized! He was a perfect gentleman he threw some desserts on the house and learned it was my sons 9th birthday so even made him a special dessert. Typically we don't eat desserts at restaurants after we eat but since we have a stink we stayed. My son is with me at 80 percent of my reviews and at first he's like dad 2 stars then after the manager came out and all he did to reconcile the situation my son said "Dad 4 stars" - so I listened and gave 4 stars. In reality this okace has great food! The food is unforgettable and we go back every year we visit Hilton Head Island and if it wasn't for the manager reconciling some pretty bad service we may have not been back. I will tell you I will be back in 2022 and appreciate what the manger did - the staff also heard it was my sons birthday and gave him fist bump and said happy birthday and even after dealing with us at this point wished us a blessed evening. This place is small but makes you feel as though you are sitting in a cute sidewalk cafe. The first thing you notice when you walk it is the fabulous aroma - warm bread and garlic! The service was pretty good - everyone was super busy as the place was packed. We ordered the vegetable pizza with meatballs and sausage added. The crust was chewy and tasty. The sausage and meatballs had good flavor. Couple of things that we did not particularly like was that the vegetables were not cooked enough and the raw onions and bell peppers were off putting. I just returned from Bella Italia and it is a must that the public know about the unsanitary behavior of their senior worker who said he was the owner and manager for 25 years. I witnessed cups splayed on the floor and the "senior" server pick them up, fill them without rinsing the cups off. When I pointed this out to the server he got in my face and became very confrontational. Lectured me that that is the way Bella works. I picked up my meal and when I returned home promptly threw it in the garbage. Very unfriendly senior staff and I suggest all residents and visitors avoid this establishment. Obviously if this is going on where their behaviors can be seen I wonder what they do behind the wall in the kitchen where customers cannot view their unsanitary antics. read more

Bella Italia is our fav pizza on the island. We also tried the pasta this visit. The food and service are always good. You can dine inside or outside on a covered patio with large fans to keep you cool. We chose inside since it was quite humid out. No wait time. Seated promptly without a reservation. Our waitress was great! We were so hungry we forgot to snap any pics! We had a Martino Special Pizza, Pepperoni pizza, Italian sausage casserole, and garlic cheese bread. The restaraunt is smaller with limited seating for a quaint experience. Definitely not national chain with boring boxed selections.... Great foods full of flavor. We had a large group and called ahead to ensure we could be managed.... Our waiter did a great job ensuring every order was right! Kitchen managed to send out all the food at the same time HOT and ready to eat! A small issue with drink service but again large group with multiple requests that were handled very well. Everyone in this large group agreed that their food was great and enjoyed the restaurant! I enjoyed the tour if Italy entree and caesar salad. Salad was fresh and crunchy.... Tour if italy included delicious lasagna, ravioli filled with cheeses and baked ziti! Delicioso!! From a different visit I also recommend the pizza! We come to Hilton head a minimum of every 2 years. This is one of the places we always return. It has a solid base of regular locals who eat there and you can tell by the interaction of the staff. Right now they are short staffed (who isn't it seems) but the customer service was great. They had one person in the kitchen, and one person handling all the tables and yet I never felt ignored. Watching others even with something they wanted corrected - the place was nailing it every time. They have a very strong if it's hot right we are going to make it right attitude. Never had a bad meal here there sauce is simple but compliments their dishes perfectly. And they give you a spoon for twirling your pasta, the way my Poppa taught me to eat it... nowhere else seems to do that. I'm sure we will be back next time we are down here. read more

AMAZINGGGGGG AUTHENTIC ITALIAN I can not put into words how spectacular the food is here and their service is just as great! Our server was very nice and on it with everything. She refilled our waters frequently helped us with menu options and was just very friendly and made me excited to be there. The interior gave that authentic Italian street vibe with raised sides and striped awnings. The tables were cute and hade nice wooden rolling chairs. The Italian decor was on par with the feeling too. Now the best part was the amazing FOOD This place gives you amazing options start to finish. I got a house salad and garlic bread with my fettuccine Alfredo entree which was divine. The authentic white cream and Parmesansauce over it wasn't skimpy and tasted so perfect just as you would hope! The house salad was perfect as well! Lots of fresh cut veggies and their house Italian sauce tasted just as Italian as well! Yum yum yum! Highly recommend both of these would eat this once a week if I lived here!!!!! My date got the caprese panini sandwich with its huge tomatoes basil and melted mozzarella. It was a fairly large sandwich and made so fresh and high quality ingredients too! Also came with pasta salad which can be made without meat We loved everything, it was a great date night experience, the service was so nice and the food was the best Italian I think I've ever had and I'm a tough food critic! Enjoying a visit to Hilton Head to attend my grandson's graduation on 10/06/23. I was the first to arrive at the lovely Airbnb on the beach. Knowing the crew would be hungry when arriving, I looked for a good pizza delivery. Bella Italia caught my eye. Success! I called and spoke with Calvin. Full of personality and very accommodating to my requests. The pizzas were delivered in record time by Carlos. He was very friendly! Now, the pizzas! They were out of this world delicious. We had a great first experience here and they were able to accommodate us outside on a busy Friday night. Ordered the white pizza to start and it was good, could have used more garlic though. We ordered several dishes to share amongst the table: chicken parm, eggplant parm, chicken alfredo, Italian casserole, and clams/white sauce. All the dishes were really good including the basket of garlic bread that comes with the meal. Clams were by far my favorite dish (again, could have used more garlic, so maybe it's just my preference). The tiramisu is made in house and its so good. Should have ordered 2 of them. read more

Small restaurant tucked into a strip mall. The smell inside was very authentic Italian. We had a salad and a pizza. The salad was very well put together, although the house Italian is really just oil with a few herbs. The pizza has a good crust. We got a white pizza and the pepperoni on it was cooked perfectly. Kinda crispy and well rendered. They only had two servers for the restaurant but they got everyone in and out quickly. Will revisit again when we are in town. read more

We used to come here years ago, and I am glad to say the quality has not changed. We ordered 4 take out pizzas after a long day at the beach. One was a regular pepperoni, one had pepperoni and banana peppers, one was plain cheese with white sauce, and one was a ricotta pie with chicken and spinach. While my family loves their white sauce pizzas, you cannot go wrong with their red sauce pizza as well. We were told an hour wait for pick-up, but we were pleasantly surprised when it was ready after 45 min. It was very hot too. My personal only complaint was that there was too much chicken on the ricotta pie (not a common problem), meaning it took away from the ricotta taste. All in all, we will continue to order from Bella Italia, as their pizza is fantastic and their service is even better! read more

We found this place on Yelp. Walked in was greeted and gave us table. Order drinks which we promptly served. Our waiter was Ian. ( a teenager working ). He was awesome we order pizzas and while we talking , he came and asked us if we like garlic bread and dip, he explained the kitchen is a little backed up and he would bring it to us no charge, we all looked him with our mouths agape. this is high school kid who understands service. What a nightmare! I visited Bella Italia two times this week because I love their food. Wednesday I met a group of ladies from church for lunch. Peter, the server, took the orders for the four of us and returned to our table 20 minutes later to be sure he had our orders in correctly. He had the orders all confused. Twenty minutes later, he returned to our table and STILL had the orders all confused. We received the food about an hour after we got in the restaurant. The food was excellent; however, the service was ridiculously terrible. Tonight I asked three of my friends from out of town to meet me there at 5:30. I arrived about 5:20, and a lady motioned for me to go to a table for four. My friends arrived at 5:30. At 6:00 Peter came and took our orders. We received two diet Cokes and a carafe of Chianti about 15 minutes later. At 6:30, I called Peter to the table to ask for two more diet Coke's in the 20 oz glasses, not the water glasses that we received earlier. He informed me that he would have to charge for refills. Really??? Refills for soda?!??? I also asked him to check on our salads and he told me that the orders were put into the computers. The other side of the restaurant with another server was bringing out food to people who had arrived after we did. It was frustrating to witness this! A couple was sitting next to our table. They were regulars as well. They received beverages and about an hour later, they had not received their food. Two of my very good friends came in about 6:00. At 6:30, they had not been approached by Peter, so they left and went next door to Street Meet. I began drinking the wine that my friends had ordered and at 7:05, we left $30 on the table for the carafe and sodas. We also went next door to Street Meet. What a disappointment!!! For Bella to have such superior food and such crudy service is appalling! I don't know where Daniel is. But he needs to come back to keep this place afloat. It will be a long time before I go back to Bella. And I am sad about this! read more
