I don't know where my original review went but it was a very poor view of overdone, overdue, incorrect pizzas, calzones and wings. After receiving an email from the business manager he refunded the entire transaction minus the driver's tip. I, like another customer also ran into the same issue of being on hold for over 30 minutes and finally hung up. Because the business manager made things right, I am willing to give this restaurant another try b/c of his business integrity and professionalism. I will specify on my next order "DO NOT OVERCOOK." This place was great! We had a couple negatives, and I'll get those out of the way. The dining room is smaller and a bit warm. The service took just a bit. Here's the great! Fantastic pizza! My family and I stopped by Dough Boys Pizza in Hilton Head Island after a long day of traveling to the island. We were looking for something quick and decided to stop in and sit down for dinner. The restaurant has very limited seating inside, but luckily we were able to get a table. We arrived on a Saturday evening, and it was very busy with lots of people placing delivery and to-go orders, so we did have to wait a bit. We ordered a pizza to share. It was okay.. not the best pizza I've ever had, but it was still edible and did the job after a long day of traveling. Our waitress was a little scattered during our visit. At the end of our meal, we asked for boxes to take the leftovers with us, but she forgot to bring them, so we ended up having to ask someone at the cash register instead. Overall, it was a convenient place to grab a quick bite, especially if you're looking for takeout or delivery. Our only regret is that we didn't come to Dough Boys on our first day! This was easily the best meal we had during our 3 days in Hilton Head. The cheesy bread was cheesy and sleezy, the meatballs melted in our mouths, the chopped Caesar salad was surprisingly perfect, and the White Pizza with Italian sausage and ricotta was ooey and gooey. We're honestly sad this was our last meal because if we'd found this place sooner, we would've been here for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, snacks, and a midnight snack too! Never again. We've ordered from Dough Boys every year for the past 5 years on our trips to HHI but our most recent experience will be our last. The primary issue is service, or lack thereof. We had a similar issue last year but gave them the benefit of the doubt. We won't make that mistake again. I placed a delivery order at 5 PM for 2 pizzas and mozzarella sticks. At 6:45, with no delivery made and the website simply showing "preparing", we attempted to call. At automated answer told us to remain on the line to be helped by the next person available. At 7:15PM, after 30 minutes of listening to canned music and repeated "stay on the line" messages, I gave up and decided to drive over to the store while my wife stayed on the line. Now nearly 2 1/2 hours after placing my order, the attitude at the storefront was clear - we neither are about your business nor do we have any idea what we are doing. First, they couldn't find my order. Once they found it, they couldn't figure out where my pizzas were. Were they in a hotbox? Out for delivery? Still unmade? They had no idea. Even worse, they made it clear that they felt it was unreasonable that I was even asking. "We are slammed" and "we only have 2 delivery drivers" was the response. I get that - it happens. But... a simple apology rather than excuses might be a better solution. Not once did the store workers give anything but excuses and they left a clear impression that they just didn't care. I mentioned that we'd been on the phone for 30 minutes to try to get an answer. "Oh, the phones were crazy so we turned them off" was the response. Off but left the "hold on the line" message running. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about Dough Boys, I don't know what would. Eventually, our pizzas were delivered. To no one's surprise, they were cold. And, as you can see in the picture, the toppings had slid off of half of the pizza long before. To top it all off, one of our pizzas was wrong. A cheese pizza for a person with allergies was loaded with toppings. However, since we now knew that the store had turned their phones off, there was no way to call and complain or ask for a refund. Convenient for them, I suppose, but the perfect ending to a miserable experience. There are too many other pizza options on the Island to risk having an experience like this. The garlic knots was hard. Perhaps over baked or old/reheated. The chicken wings tasted old / reheated, and the pizza was not flavorful. The dough for the gluten free bread was average, most gluten free pizzas have hard crust, no real problem there. But the crust to the non gluten free pizza was dry too! I was visiting the area and according to the reviews, most people recommend this place. I guess it's people who live here and are used to eating their pizza that way. Overall it was not horrible, but the price did not match the quality of the pizza and eating out has become understandably expensive so you want your money to be spent with good use. No complaints about the service. The place appeared take out only. It's located in a strip mall / shopping center. Best of luck if you try this place out. read more

We popped in an ordered a Big Caruna pizza (half pepperoni and half sausage with onion, ricotta and red pepper flakes). We decided to eat at one of the picnic tables outside in front. A friendly server brought us water and silverware. Our pizza came out pretty quick-maybe 10 minutes-and the 12" was the perfect size for the two of us. I had a bit of a preference for the sausage side but both sides were good. The thin crust had a faint tanginess adding some extra flavor. It was smushed because of delivery, one side had beef pushed up against the box so it was a mess. Then the crust was soooooo thin that it stuck to the bottom of the box, the cheese and toppings took over, plus I wanted it well done and this was anything but. Takeaway order. If you're looking for a great pizza - this is your place! We ordered the Ben's Banging Basil pizza and it was refreshing and delicious! (We also ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza 2 days ago. Sorry, no photo). The Italian hoagie was tasty, although maybe a tad too much balsamic vinaigrette. The last photo is of the Meatball Sliders. While a bit on the well done side, the taste was great! Order early on the weekends as they are super busy and it will be a long wait. The pizza is huge! We got a 12 inch which is small, and it was pretty big and heavy loaded. The pizza was good , cooked well and just right. The wings (buffalo) had a different kick to them which was good, but not usually what you think of when you go to bww or another wing place. We went out looking for a deep dish pizza here in the Hilton Head/Bluffton area and thought we would give Dough Boys a try. It's a small place with inside and outside dining with a local vibe. Our waiter was Kim, the owner, and she was very friendly and kind (especially when we accidentally dumped a whole glass of water on the table). Started with the garlic knots because if you are already having pizza, why not. We ordered the Sicilian style deep dish pizza and it was exactly what we were looking for. Plenty of thick crust and cheese and cooked just enough to make the bottom crunchy. An excellent pizza with 12 slices. We brought 8 home. It's that filling. After driving most of the day from western North Carolina to Hilton Head Island finding this little pizza joint was a godsend. We arrived at the restaurant late afternoon and was a little surprised to see that the dining area was rather small, fortunately there was one table available so we grabbed it after squeezing past a few of the other customers already enjoying their food. Our server "Dough Girl P" greeted up immediately with a big smile and a few menus, we ordered our drinks and scanned the menu, we had both been looking forward to grabbing a pizza since leaving home more than a week ago. There are lots of options here but we decided to stick to the mission and ordered a 18" thin crust with pepperoni, sausage, green olives and I add jalapeños on half of it. This pizza shop definitely has a great take-out business, it seemed like the door never stayed closed for more than a minute or two and the kitchen was dealing out the food at an unbelievable pace and I never saw anyone walk in and wait on their order. Our pizza arrived in a reasonable amount of time and our server had already checked on us twice before the food arrived, setting up the pizza rack, giving us tableware and refilling our drinks. The pizza arrived piping hot and crispy, the pizza had an abundance of toppings including plenty of stretchy cheese, all the tables have a great selection of condiments including grated cheese, red pepper flakes, garlic powder and salt and pepper. Absolutely no complaints here, the service was exceptional and the pizza was amazing it's no wonder this place stays filled and the takeout is relentless, these guys are busy and working hard but they seem to handle it well - I did notice a continuous rumble coming from the kitchen and it was so consistent I had to ask - it's the gas fired ovens which makes total sense after she told us. We have had pizza there twice and was very good both times, and yes, we will go back again

Came here the Saturday before the 4th of July and when we walked in there were a lot of people inside, sitting at the few tables they had, on line waiting to order and others waiting for their purchased orders. When we got to the register we were told that it would be at least 1.5 hours before it could be ready. We were told this was their busiest night EVER. It was already late, so we put the menu down and left. A few days later we ordered a pizza that my husband picked up. We had a pie with pepperoni, sausage, bacon and extra cheese.
