I hate leaving a negative review, especially knowing how much it impacts a restaurant--but this experience really missed the mark. The pizza was horrible--honestly one of the worst I've had in years. We even looked at each other after a few bites wondering if we should just stop eating it altogether. The wings were breaded (not our preference for buffalo) and came with ranch instead of blue cheese--which may have been on us for not asking, but still surprising. The mozzarella sticks were crispy and probably the highlight of the meal... which says a lot. Overall, this was a reminder that pizza just isn't the move in Hilton Head--at least not here. read more

Every year we come to Hilton Head, we order from here. However, last night, many of us said this was the worst pizza we have ever had. We ordered a large veggie and a large meat lovers. Still great pizza, salads and sandwiches. We have been coming here for over 20 years. Everything still tastes as good as we remember. Last night we ate outside at restaurant but sometimes we stop for sandwiches or pizza and eat on beach while we watch the sun set. Service is always good, but sometimes the place gets crowded and you just need to relax and wait for a table. Ambiance is good, but we really go for the pizza. Simply not great pizza. Points for convenience in Sea Pines with pickup or delivery. Minus points for crust, toppings, and appearance. Tiny chopped tomatoes on our white pizza and couldn't find flavor anywhere. Also got the Giuseppi Special and wanted to cry it looked so unappealing and lacking in enough cheese. Pepperoni pizza is probably the best, and only bet, here. The Philly cheesesteak is laughable. Why is mayo a default topping?! Totally lacks enough meat or ingredients to make this a worthwhile sandwich. Bread is soft so points again, for those looking to eat a plain bread loaf. Three stars because while the food may make me cry (joyless tears) looking at it, we will probably eat here again. Sometimes good is good enough. read more

My friend enjoyed the gluten free pizza. I decided to try a slice and get an Italian sandwich (couldn't decide). Both weren't bad, but nothing major. This place has been around on Hilton Head for a long time. The staff, the owner, everybody that works here is absolutely fantastic. It's very cozy on the inside with lots of sports, memorabilia, and TV screens. Warning, they are hard-core Steelers fans. But that's OK, they welcome sports enthusiast of all kinds. Ha! The hoagies here are delicious, especially the ham and cheese and the Italian. They have a really good creamy Italian house-made dressing that we highly recommend. Arrived on bikes for dinner. 2 adults and 2 children. No reservations, but we were able to sit outside without a wait. We ordered the famous skinny stix for our appetizer, a pepperoni pizza, and a Giuseppi's special pizza which has pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onion, green bell pepper, and black olive. We left the olives off. Also had the chicken Parmesan sandwich with chips. Everything was just ok. Not banothing we would want to have a second time. We just had the worst takeout from Giuseppi's. The Greek Salad had 3 pieces of cucumber and 2 grape tomatoes. We asked for extra feta but instead got mozzarella cheese on top. The olives were canned, not fresh. And the dressing was not a typical red wine vinegar based salad dressing. The lasagne with meatballs tasted like a Chef Boyardee canned red sauce. I need to start my review by saying we've only ever eaten the pizza from Giuseppi's. They have an extensive menu but we've frequented them for late night pizza. The pizza is good. Crust is flavorful. Toppings cut thin and small but enough to cover the pizza (which we like). There is not an over abundance of sauce but a fair amount of cheese. My one critique: I wish their pizza crust was crispier. It's a very soggy crust. We're not enough of a pizza snob to count them out entirely because of this. Especially since the top of the pizza is really good. But if you really don't like a limp pizza you will not like this. Customer service is good. I have found them to be helpful when asked questions. The restaurant itself is not big but could accommodate a larger part in the bigger booths. But please note they ONLY have takeout on Saturday nights. You cannot dine in. This is a family owned business in the sea pines. We gave it a shot because it is right by where we are staying. They did a good job moving orders along and I got my pizza in about 25 min. Since the Giuseppi's location within Sea Pines was closest we went there. While the facility and service was OK the pizza was the worse I've ever had. I got the Giuseppi's Special for which there was nothing special about..paper thin crust with tasteless and limited toppings for $25. We will not be returning. read more

It's a small carry out pizza place 1/2 step up from Dominos. Crust and cheese over cooked, zero sauce on the pizza. Cheese bread, zero flavor or seasoning, step down from Domino's. I don't know how they're been there 44 years other than being a quick serve non-chain for the folks in Sea Pines. With multiple pizza options all over Hilton Head Island, our choice was Giuseppi's located in a small plaza on Lighthouse Road in the Sea Pines Plantation. We've patronized Giuseppi's for two decades and have always enjoyed their product. This week, we ordered several large pies with a full swath of various toppings for takeout during our stay on the Island. As always, we were blown away with taste and quality of the pizza. Great pizza place! We had it twice the week our family was staying in town. The smells coming from this place are amazing and makes you hungry! The staff was very friendly and the place looked clean. It can get busy but it's worth it! On the saturday that we ordered they were only doing take out and no wings because of how much pizza they had to make. We went again on Wednesday and were able to sit in to dine or take out all items on the menu. Weekends are crazy busy everywhere on the island regardless of where you go. Definately give this place a try when you are visiting Hilton Head Island. read more

Very convenient if you are staying in Sea Pines. Our server was super friendly and fast. I really liked the Greek salad - enough for 2-3 people. The olives were plentiful, sometimes you don't get a lot of olives from places. I really liked the pizza crust - thin crust but still soft and chewy. They put a lot of toppings - the pepperoni was crispy on the edges which was delicious. The Special was a generous serving of onions. Sausage, olives and pepperoni. We also ordered buffalo wings which were nice sized and perfectly sauced. They were fried just right - nice crunch on the outside and juicy chicken inside. We will definitely visit again! read more

Was it the best pizza I've ever had? No. But did it do the job for a simple dinner out with the family that's super casual? Yes. I can't say I will walk away from here craving Giuseppi's pizza in the future, but it's a simple, casual spot to grab a bite to eat and just relax. They have a deck that has 3 wooden booths and a couple of tables that an be pulled together. Inside is pretty tight seating and full of Pittsburg Steeler stuff on every wall. I think we'd prefer the less crowded location over by Shelter Cove just for the sake of space, but since we had already paid to enter Sea Pines, we decided to stop at this one before heading to the Lighthouse area to walk around. read more

Great servers. pizza was okay meatballs were awesome. but why did we pay 8 dollars for this cake. didn't notice when we picked up our food but very disappointing. same with my 7-dollar key lime pie. no whipped cream and small serving. 10 dollars for 4 small meatballs is robbery but very tasty. the medium pizza was basically a small back home and $18 was ridiculous for 8 small slices. Pizza, Pizza! Summary - great toppings, floppy crust. There are several styles. NY, Detroit, Chicago, and St Louis. All pies have a great foundation (crust), sauce, and quality Toppings. This pie had great toppings. We went with an Anchovy, Pepperoni, Black Olive pie. Please note the Anchovies added a heavy salt flavor and may not be liked by most. The toppings and cheese were on point. The pizza was good but the crust was not very good. The crust had a serious flop and had more of a bread consistency. I will order again (hopeful I had an outlier) but my comparison is against Prince Street Pizza in NYC, Chicago Pizza Oven and Grinder, Lou Maltinati"s Chicago. Giuseppi's Pizza is a Hilton Head Island / Sea Pines tradition, serving the island for over 30 years. It's confusing, but this Giuseppi's is in no way associated with the Giuseppi's restaurants at Shelter Cove and in Bluffton. This is an independent, family owned and operated pizza shop that also sells calzones, subs, sandwiches, wraps, pasta, apps/sides, wings, and salads. The family that runs this place is originally from Pennsylvania and the small restaurant is decked out in Pittsburgh sports memorabilia. The business has gained a loyal following over the years. It's popular and for good reason. The pizza is yummy. They proclaim themselves to be the #1 pizza restaurant on the island. Their website address is besthiltonheadpizza.com. I haven't tried enough pizza around the island to say for myself, but if you like pizza, I don't think you can go wrong with this place. Giuseppi's is located at The Shops at Sea Pines Center, a shopping strip near Harbour Town. It's inside The Sea Pines Resort, so if you're not a property owner or do not have a guest pass, you will have to pay $5 (good all-day) to get inside the resort. We stopped in on a recent Monday evening around 7:15pm and the restaurant was busy. It's not a big place. I guesstimate the inside dining room can seat about 50 customers and the covered patio outside can seat about 20-30. The tables are placed closely together, so seating is rather snug and cozy. This is very much a casual pizza joint with somewhat of a sports bar feel with TVs and the aforementioned sports decor on the walls. You order and pay upfront at the counter, behind which is the open kitchen. The phone seemed to be ringing off the hook with orders. Giuseppi's offers about 10 different kinds of house pizzas in 16-inch (about $19-22 each) and 12-inch (about $16-18 each) sizes as well as by the slice (roughly $4 a slice). You can create your own pizza from a multitude of toppings and there is a personal-sized gluten-free option as well. There are 5 different kinds of calzones for about $10-11 each. Subs and other sandwiches are about $7 or $13 each, depending on size, wraps about $7 each, and freshly cooked pasta entrees range in price from about $7-13 per dish. Here's what I ordered for an adult family of four plus two little ones: * Giuseppi's Special Pizza (16-inch, $21.75) - pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onion, green peppers, black olives * Two slices of cheese pizza ($2.78 per slice) * Two house garden salads ($6.75 each) - romaine and leaf lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet onions, cheese This was just the right amount of food, though I probably could have ordered another salad all for myself. The lady at the register recommended one salad for every two people, but if you like salads and want more than a "side salad" portion, you should order a whole salad all for yourself. The salads were fairly standard, fresh and crisp. Each came with two packs of Lance Captain's Wafers crackers and dressing (we requested honey mustard and ranch) on the side. The pizza was delicious. While we were waiting for our order, I heard a father dining with his family say multiple times, "This is the best pizza I've ever had." Giuseppi's isn't the best pizza I've ever had, but it is the best I've had on Hilton Head Island. I think a good way for me to describe it is it's like a thinner crust version of a Papa John's pizza that is not as rich and tastes lighter and fresher. The crust has somewhat of a similar taste and consistency, though not as soft. I like how our large pizza was sliced so there were a variety of 1/8 and smaller 1/16 size slices. This way, if we just wanted a little bit more pizza, we could just grab one of the 1/16 size slices. The cheese slices were for my four-year-old niece and she enjoyed them. Service was good. Our order was ready in about 20 minutes from the time we ordered. I think that's reasonable for a busy night. The staff was nice. Overall, I recommend Giuseppi's. Solid pizza and service with fair prices. read more
