I visit her once a month (or so) and we have gone to the resident dining maybe twenty times. From the first time I was shocked by the quality of the food. My first time I was expecting an old-school cafeteria-style food service with metal trays and food slopped onto the plate. This was completely different. The food was shockingly good, and the meal of the day (lunch) always has a soup, a main meal and a dessert. It's not overly fancy but the food in actually really tasty and they give you good size portions. The staff are very attentive and polite and the experience is a very pleasant dining experience. Today we had garden vegetable soup along with pot roast, scalloped potatoes and peas, with apple pie for dessert. The pot roast was excellent and the potatoes were exceptional. You know the food is good when the head chef/manager of food service is there talking with residents to make sure she gets feedback concerning the food that she prepared. Currently the dining area in being remodeled and should be done by the end of this year. So, the dining area currently is less then amazing, and what they can offer is limited. I'm looking forward to the new dining experience once they have their grand opening later this year.

Maria C was my caregiver scheduled for my surgery in Colton. She arrived on time and was very kind and attentive throughout the procedure and after. On the second day for my post-op appointment another Maria was scheduled. She also was kind and caring and a pleasure. She helped me with some household tasks and later took me to my appointment in Rancho Cucamonga. So if you are far from family and friends, or they are tied up with their own tasks, go ahead and hire Visiting Angels, who treat you like family.

The caretaker who noticed the situation never came back to clean or change her. My grandma was in tears telling me this. No one in your care should ever be ignored or left in that condition. She didn't give me the caretaker's name, I don't know exactly who it was but that caretaker needs to do her job properly or find another place to work, because this kind of neglect is disgusting and should never happen again.

It has been a confusing and challenging transition as it is the forth move for dad in as many months, and working with hospice umbrella of care has added to it. But in those two weeks we see him happy, as independent as possible, pleasd with the staff, food and his ability to enjoy privacy or the residence for happy hour each day. This has been amazing to us after losing mom 18mo ago and him wanting to live alone. The admin Lisa and nursing staff are available, friendly and caring. They have communicated with us constantly to make sure we know he is getting the care and medicines necessary. The care givers are always full of smiles and have the toughest of jobs for a vast array of needs and personalities. The kitchen staff, led by Lolita, are all great. Within days dad was greated by name when going to the dining hall and they keep track of his dietary needs while encouraging the best meals for him. I would say the food looks real good too! As far as the facility goes it has a great entry lobby/lounge, wide and well lit hallways and a nice layout with many rooms to use and explore. We visit several times per week so we have gotten to know the place and people well already.

My grandpa was given a necklace with a device to press when he needed aid to use the restroom or other needs and they wouldn't reach him for 30ish minutes and he would then sit there in urine and feces, when all he wanted was for someone to help him to get up and use the restroom. What if it was an emergency? What if he was desperate for help? They wouldn't get to him for half an hour or more! When he would go eat in the dining area they would take the same amount of time to take him back to his room, he would sit there for 20-30 min after he finished. I timed it a few times when I would go visit to see how long they would take. One time I saw a puddle under his bed and I told the staff he needed to be changed and they told me his cup of water fell, which was a complete lie. The staff is very heartless with zero patience. He was there not even more than 3 months and declined quickly while at the facility before passing. When I visited him he was scared and crying just wanting to return home. This was a place to help get him get strong and back on his feet but in turn the complete opposite happened. One time I over heard a staff member yelling at an elderly patient in the hall way. Once they realized I was there they quickly apologized trying to justify. His restroom would go a week without being cleaned, to the point that we started doing it ourselves at times. I was warned by a hospice nurse from the start to be careful there because they will try and get away with as much as they can unless you visit your loved one all the time and they are aware you're watching. Please beware sending your loved one here, do your research. If you do please visit them! I read in the comments that people were told to leave good comments so don't trust everything you read.

Additionally, neither my brother nor I were notified when my mother passed away. I learned of her death two hours later when a Sheriff answered her phone when I called, which was devastating. Ten days in a skilled nursing/rehab hospital is a stark reminder of how much we need places like Oakmont to care for our elderly. I am so thankful that she sold her house and moved to assisted living before we were up against the wall with a health crisis. I know she will be well cared for at Oakmont.

Well, don't let the same mistake happen to you like me. After realizing my mistake and then finding GRACIOUS LIVING I couldn't be happier for finally having peace and mind for my dear cousin!! The staff (Emma, Jerome & Edith) was so GRACIOUS,ATTENTIVE,PATIENT and COMPASSIONATE with my cousin and our family!! I wish I had been introduced to Gracious Living upon my first search!! After contacting this facility I was greeted by Paul who without hesitation answered all my questions for my school project with extensive knowledge of his facility and went above and beyond to provide me with all the information I needed for this school report. Although my review is not based on the treatment facilities services itself, it's good to note that if a manger of this facility takes the time out of their day to answer questions with a caring and compassionate manner, they most certainly would take the time to provide top quality care to their residents.
