This is my go to place for special date night. The food here is awesome. We got the calamari balsamico for an app. It's got a spicy sauce on top which gives the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, it's a must try. I got the Gambierini Cardinale which is shrimp over pasta in a pink sauce. I think the use a stoli vanilla vodka which gives it an awesome flavor. Ambiance nice, service started off well then she got overwhelmed, food not worth the price. Lobster was totally to tough to cut with a steak knife, veggies were totally overcooked,risotto came out way too hot to eat with meal. 2nd meal was ordered w/o mussels, came with mussels,server just said sorry.Watch out if you order the oyster s, they are cotuits from the cape but they are huge, oversized. This was not explained to us by the server! 19.00 for 5. I had to cut off the muscle and slice in half (not enjoyable). Wow, we aren't sure how we haven't been here soonest. We have lived in town for close to a year and never thought about coming here. Our waitress Jill was one of the best servers we have ever had. We haven't gone out to a restaurant in months. Saturday night we went to Bella. We chose to dine outside on their beautiful patio strung with lights and shade sails. The owner opened the door , welcomed us and escorted us to our table. Service was prompt, the server knowledgeable and friendly. And the food! Stuffed squash blossoms as an appetizer, A salad of perfect size, Veal Francese served with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley for me, chicken Voldastano over a bed of spinach for my partner. if only we had room for dessert! if we don't dine out often, we have dined well. una bella notte! read more

We've been going to Bella's for many many years and have never been disappointed. We are always welcomed with a friendly greeting by Giuseppe. The bar and wait staff is knowledgeable and always accommodating. Much of the food recipes are organic but not advertised as such because of 1 or 2 ingredients. Always fresh and traditional as well as contemporary Italian. The prices are reasonable compared to any other upscale Italian, and they make it more comfortable so that feels like value added. Great food. We sat out on the patio and service was terrible. Saw our waitress seldomly. The food comes and we want parmigiana for our veal. She comes back 10 minutes later after we decided to start eating. Drinks took forever to show up. The place was not very busy and they seemed to have plenty of staff. Perfectly executed baby shower! We were planning a baby shower for my sister before the coronavirus hit and I never thought it would become a reality. We did not want to cancel and Sarah was wonderful to work with. We kept navigating the changes in capacity per the governors orders and I'm thrilled that report that we were able to deliver a shower of 40+ attendees to my sister. The room was set up exactly how I had requested. The restaurant followed all COVID-19 protocols and the guests all wore masks and not one person got sick. We had a wonderful time being together, the food was delicious and everything was served to us so no one had to gather or touch the same serving utensils, etc. I'd highly recommend Bella for your next function big or small. read more

Saw a picture of the backed stuffed lobster online and decided that I needed to try it. I went with my hunny on a Friday night. The baked stuffed lobster was $47. Once it arrived at the table, my mouth dropped at how beautiful and delicious it looked,but that's where the pleasure stopped. Unfortunately, it looked way better than it tasted. We've been driving past this place for decades on the way to Wrights, (ugh) but never gave a second thought to stop in and try it. Well today was it. If you're driving on Rt 102, you only see the back side, but are surprised when you pull up front. It looks like a separate function hall attached to the restaurant. We walked in and pleasantly surprised at the dining area. Very clean, not cluttered, and all you expect from a high class Italian restaurant. After being seated, our waiter, Josh, came over. Took drink orders and asked if we wanted the infused olive oil with out bread. We decided on having the standard calamari, but there was another version that we'll try the next time. It came in a garlic butter sauce, with assorted red and green peppers. It was different but delicious. We went with 2 veal main courses, veal parmigiana for myself, and veal Marsala was my wife's choice. Both came out hot, and in a timely manner. The sauce on the veal parmigiana was super, with ample tomato pieces. Both veal dishes were fantastic, with the veal as perfectly prepared as can be. After finishing, and swearing that I'd never eat again from being stuff, the waiter appeared with the dessert tray. All I can say is that the offerings were like presents under the Christmas tree. My wife went with the lava cake, and I went with the cannolis. Presentation is everything: Both dessert plates arrived like works of art. On the cannoli plate, a fork was laid on the plate, then it was dusted with cinnamon, and then the fork was removed. Small chocolate chips, dressed the cannoli with dollops of fresh whipped cream on the side with berries. Some of the reviews said that Federal Hill is better, but I tend to disagree. Because a place is in the "tourist" district does not make it great, or a standard to judge others places on, it doesn't mean that because it's out in the country that it's automatically inferior, and not delicious. Because you went to the tourist trap place, and paid a lot, doesn't mean it's the best. FOOTNOTE: They do have a family style chicken dinner (AKA Wright's Farm) as other places like Village Haven, which is a lot better than Wrights. If it's anything like the other offerings, it's probably very good. read more

I've been to Bella's many times. I've had good meals and terrible meals here. The pasta is nothing more than no name pasta you buy in a supermarket. My wife got the veal Marsala for around $28 bucks. It had SIX pieces of veal about the size of a half dollar and the rest was all mushrooms. My meal was ok veal Parmesan . The food is ok but it is not high end like the price is. You can get most of these meals just as good at a chain restaurant. They are all about the sales, I think the owner trains the wait staff to push whatever they can sell. read more

We have been going to Bella's for about two years now. Once we had discovered it (through friends) we were hooked. We have never had anything less than amazing top notch food with all fresh ingredients, superb friendly service, and an all around fantastic dinner experience. If you want to change something on the menu, not a problem. They are super accommodating. Most of their staff has worked there for years which says a lot about the owner who by the way comes to your table to check on you. Some of the things to expect are homemade bread, their special house dressing, a clean table throughout your courses, delish appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Food ok but prices very very high for basically pasta dishes. I'm sticking with Lucky Dog or Gia's which are better overall value and nearby. Went here for the first time last weekend to celebrate my cousins birthday. When we pulled up we saw just how busy it was on a Saturday night but we got seated right away because we made reservations. The place was very big with many rooms with tables. Nicely decorated. I loved the white lights on the outside trees. I saw some bar seating. We had 9 of us so we had a nice big table. Everyone ordered drinks and I tried a few different spritzers which I highly suggest. They were fresh and delicious! We got two appetizer samplers which were good and everyone got an entree. I got the grilled swordfish with risotto. The risotto was the best risotto I have ever had in my life! The swordfish was also cooked perfectly. Everyone I was with seemed to enjoy their entrees as well. I didn't have room for dessert but almost everyone at my table got something and said it was good. The waitress showed us a dessert sample plate which was nice to see exactly what you are going to get. Overall we had a really nice time. My only complaint would be the slow service throughout the night. I know fine dining takes a little longer but it was longer than it should have been. At one point it took 25 mins for everyone to get their salads. I would definitely come back though! I'm guessing the slow service was just because it was busy. read more

Fantastic Valentine's Day dinner. My boyfriend and I went to Bella for Valentine's Day this year for something more low key. Last year we dined at The Captial Grille which was nice but felt extremely formal. Bella was comfortable, relaxing and less stuffy. My only issue was our wait. We arrive at 7:10pm for a 7pm reservation. We didn't get seated til about 7:45. People were frustrated that they were waiting so long but honestly, it's Valentine's Day. Give them a break!!! We sat at a table near the window which was nice but a little chilly. Had some cocktails and ordered off the special Valentine's Day menu for all of our dishes. We started off with the Raw Seafood Platter. Littlenecks, oysters, shrimp, crab. It was delicious!! Then my boyfriend enjoyed a beautiful beef dish with smoked salmon on top. Absolutely incredible! So tender, so much flavor, so inspired. We've never had anything like it before! I enjoyed the baked stuffed lobster. Boy was that a real treat! Huge pieces of lobster, full sized scallops, shrimp, the stuffing itself was to die for. And the price was absolutely fair. Didn't have any dessert, it took a while for us to get our check (and it was 9:45pm) by the time we were finished. But really enjoyed our meal and our waitress. Would absolutely return, maybe on a regular weekend! Also, for anyone with a nut allergy, the kitchen is nut free! The owners daughter has a nut allergy and they've committed to not using nuts in their kitchen. Awesome for anyone with severe allergies!!! read more

We had not been here for several years since my wife's parents passed on. It was one of their favorites. It was even better than I remembered. Fantastic food for a very reasonable price! Dining room is elegant with real tablecloths and napkins. It was a bit loud because it's was 100% full with people enjoying themselves - but no annoying "ambience" music at all - so, it was nice. They are not afraid to make traditional cuisine with real ingredients. No, politically correct substitute ingredients here. Food was prepared perfectly and brought with good timing with attention to how our party was eating. Perfect! Giuseppe, the owner was an obvious overseer of the operation. Nice to see such vigilance. It has always been a bit pricey but worth the special occasion we were celebrating! Unfortunately, when we dined this last time for our anniversary, it will probably be our last visit. The service was great as always and they were very attentive. However, the food was just blah! Our favorite appetizer to order was always their calamari; consistently fresh, crispy, lightly battered and amazingly tasty! "Best anywhere" is what we have always remarked. So after a long hiatus due to Covid, we finally decided to visit again and the very first item we 'had' to order was the calamari! This time it was salty, over battered, over cooked and bland. The greatest thing about this place was the service. Very attentive, she came by every so often to refill the girls' sangria from the pitcher. Glasses never got close to empty. This review has been long in coming. I wanted to add my experience with Bella Restaurant for some time now. I reserved the function room for a milestone Birthday celebration for my wife. I opted for the Italian Connection Buffet. Now, keep in mind, there were about 80 people there in attendance. From the very beginning, when I left a deposit with Giuseppe, and after that, working with Sarah, his daughter, to arrange such a wonderful event. Their professionalism shined. The Calapai family has been doing this for some time and helped me create a wonderful memory that was shared not only by my wife and I, but everyone who shared her day with her! The food was absolutely incredible! EVERYONE in attendance talked about this party for MONTHS afterward. It is very difficult to please everyone, but I can assure you, not one person was dissatisfied. I would not hesitate for a second to call on Bella Restaurant again. My compliments to the whole gang!! I am not sure whether or not it is the chef or the owner but they are somehow affiliated with a restauant on Federal Hill. We always have an amazing dining experience here. On weekend nights, it does get sort of loud because you are all seated pretty close. However the service and the food have always been unforgettable! read more

Went for a birthday celebration. I was impressed that one server handled our party of 20 with separate checks. Food is very mediocre. The red sauce is not flavorful, the oil on the table to serve with bread tasted like canola (blech). We asked to substitute Cesar salad with our entrees and were charged $7. My husband had a martini, I had a beer, chicken parm and manicotti - our billl was $78 (plus tip $95).
