Lindy's is a great spot to grab a bite! I live in town, so I have been going to Lindy's for years and the food is always good! I love getting the fish and chips there - they offer two types, crispy or beer battered. I always opt for the crispy! We also order take out from them a lot and we will even just order some clam cakes to take out to go with our homemade chowder! The restaurant is always busy, so you will probably have to wait to be seated. I don't think they take reservations. Plenty of parking in a nice big parking lot around the building. read more

It's unclear if my review is really for their food, or if it's more generally for this style of New England food. A friend of mine warned me that some of these foods are "fried dough that tastes vaguely of seafood," which is how I'd describe clam cakes and stuffies. Both, well, mostly dough, but fine for what they were. Chowder had some good clam pieces but was too salty for my taste. What didn't go well was the group that took our place when our name was called. Ignorance abundance . After an hour and 10 minute wait I went up and told them we had been waiting a ridiculous amount of time and they saw someone else took our place, he immediately gave us the next available table. Cocktails were very good. The waitress was great,the food was above average. Soups were superb. Seafood was really good. It is a very small restaurant that doesn't take reservations. ....It is extremely loud in the dining room. Went there on a Friday evening with no resy. There were about 10 families ahead so we waited approx 40 min to be seated but we really didn't mind because I had heard good things. Once seated, everything was amazing, food service, I had no complaints. The portions were so good for the price. I had a seafood sub that came with fries for $16. And I ordered 6 on the half oysters for $14. It was delicious! The staff are super friendly too. I will be making my way there again soon. read more

I've been coming to Lindy's for years now as it's one of my Grandma's favorite restaurants. I'm honestly surprised it's taken me this long to give them a review! I definitely recommend coming in early as peak times there can be a long wait. But, I was happy that we didn't have a wait tonight. The restaurant itself is large and open but because of that can be hard to hear, especially if there are tables sitting next to you. I appreciate that they always have a specials menu as they have some imaginative dishes on there. Our waitress was friendly. She was pleasant but not overwhelming and made sure that we had everything we needed. If you haven't been here before I would recommend their seafood. It's all high quality and reasonably priced. Tonight though, I had the Alfredo with chicken and mushrooms. I will say their Alfredo is superb. It's buttery, rich, creamy, savory, and everything else you'd want an Alfredo to be. The chicken was thinly breaded and perfectly tender and the mushrooms were copious. I definitely had more than enough food for two meals. My grandma had a burger and liked her meal as well- I'm always a big fan of the pickle. If you haven't been to Lindy's yet, definitely try them out. It's a quality pub! read more

My husband and I had dinner at Lindy's this evening. I ordered the raw bar and I can believe that any restaurant would serve the seafood they presented to me . The 2 shrimp were fine. The oysters were black mostly and tiny the my thumb nail. The clams weren't whole they were chopped up. I sent it back. The seafood chowder was all potatoes. The said they would take it off the bill and never did I had to call the waitress back to let her know and she was very apologetic and came back and said we took it off the bill but added back the 2 shrimp you ate. Ok listen I ate the shrimp all 2 of them but seriously. I can tell you I will never go back. You can sit on your laurels Lindy's because your parking lot and Bar is full but if you continue serving bad seafood it won't be long till your customers find somewhere else to eat. read more

Finally made it to Lindys Tavern in North Smithfield, RI -- just under 30 minutes from Worcester & right off 146! Sunday's special is a $7.50 Bloody Mary topped with a huge shrimp, & it did not disappoint We started with a generous portion of crispy calamari, then dove into our entrées -- he had the 2lb stuffed lobster with a baked potato & butternut squash, & I went for the turkey dinner. Everything was seasoned perfectly & absolutely delicious! Don't forget to try the cornbread, some of the best I've had. Went tonight with family for first time. Had to wait, very loud. Big drinking place & crowded. Had fried oysters, fish & chips, fried shrimp, & phylly's steak sandwich. The onion rings were great. I am happy we gave this place a shot. There is not a lot of signage but once you find the building you are good to go. It is large with lots of seating options including outside. There is also a separate building out back that I was told is a bar with bands! The service was quick and friendly. Our waitress was confident and competent. I appreciated how fast she got things without making us feel rushed. Now the food. We started with a stuffy (stuffed quahog a RI specialty) we got it Portuguese style with a spicy sausage inside. It was delicious. I didn't want to share but i did. The filling was flavorful and it had just enough heat. We got the calamari RI style. It was tender and tossed in garlic butter with hot pepper rings. It was great the only negative for me was it was served with cocktail sauce instead of marinara. I'm sure they would sub it if asked. So no points deducted. Main course we shared a fisherman platter. It came with a giant piece of fish, 3 fried shrimp and a bunch of fried clams and bay oysters. Coleslaw and tarter too. We subbed o-rings for fries. 2 of us couldn't finish this plate. So much food. The oysters and shrimp were tender and delicious. The clams were clean but a tiny bit chewy. That's the case with clams so I wouldn't call it a drawback. The fish had a cornmeal batter. I do prefer a beer batter but this fish was delicious. Flaky and white with a nice crispy outside. Tartar was typical and slaw was nice. One of the better ones I've had. Overall super great seafood. We loved this place and will definitely be back. . read more

Second visit was nothing like my first. Actually ended up the same table with the same waitress. Ordered the colossal lobster roll because I loved it so much the week before and I got served the small one. I said I ordered the colossal and my waiter said nope you ordered the regular one. Lyndys has the Best Fish& Chips in the area. Never had a Bad meal here. The servers are all very Good. I recommend this to Everyone.

We had a horrible experience yesterday. Waiting to check 8n and thr staff took people that came after us to be seated. Then we waited a good 15min for our waitress to come and take our drink order. She was rude and rushing. I get it it was super busy. Then we waited another 25min and we were super hungry. She kept walking by taking care of other tables. Came back from Cali for a family visit and did the usual stop. We actually did lunch and came back for dinner the same day. First off, I have never had better steamers than here. I'm talking no sand at all, smooth and buttery! The wife is a huge lobster fan so that is why twice in the same day. Will be back next year. read more

Lindy's was a 5 star for me! I was in the area for a work event and walked in the door 5 til 9pm. I could tell they were starting to clean up so I asked if the kitchen was open. They said until 9pm. I said okay never mind because I didn't want to be "that guy" the staff insisted that if I could order in 5 minutes it was no big deal because the bar was open until 10pm. Anyway, I proceeded to order the stuffies (seafood mix stuffed in clam shells) and fish and chips (I opted for onion rings). While I waited for my food the bar staff was polite and conversational and serve me some cold local beers. Then the food came out. The fish was the size of Shaq's shoe, and tasted amazing. I am giving them a 1 star, because we are angry. My husband had one beer , I had one drink, he had pastrami egg rolls and I had celery and carrots. The idiot bartender shut us off saying we didn't eat enough. The guy to the left of us had two pitchers of beer by himself, and the guy to the right had 3 drinks to my one she should he fired. Owner - she has brown hair, Sunday, 7/19 , this was approximately 6:30. She should be fired,!!!!!!! Ordered 3 menu items came out to about $64., holy smokes but the portions matched the price and the food quality was great so I can't even speak more on that lol. A lot of bang for the buck! All of the below was shared, feeding 4 grown adults with some leftover still. Triple catch platter ($28.99 market price) comes with fried fish, fries, onion strings, fried scallops, fried clams & coleslaw. The fried fish was the star of the show! My mom had it for the first time and asked where I picked up the takeout and wants to order more tmrw. Great portion, crispy, fresh & not fishy. I couldn't stop coming back for more. The only thing is, the clams are whole belly and come with all the brown smutz and I wasn't a fan of that, I may just opt for fish & chips combo next time. We also had the $15.99 seafood chowder combo w/6 clam cakes. Chowder was very good and not just all broth which I loved, there was definitely potatoes and chunks of seafood in it unlike other places where it's all broth and no substance. Clam cakes were pretty dense, they were good but was hoping for more clam flavor and more light. Lindy's special Bbq burger was so good!! May be the best burger I ever had from a casual restaurant. This place has shitty service and has terrible food. NEVER COME HERE. bugs all over the ground and it's disgusting. These people had seemed to ignore. I walked into Lindy's Tavern hungry and left... still hungry, but now emotionally confused too. The menu looked like it hadn't changed since 1987, and I'm pretty sure neither had the food. My fries were somehow both cold and soggy at the same time -- which honestly felt like a science experiment gone wrong. The waiter disappeared so long I started wondering if he clocked out mid-shift. When he finally came back, I had already memorized the entire ketchup bottle label for entertainment. The burger looked like it lost a fight before getting to my table, and the soda tasted like it was 90% ice and 10% regret. The best part of the visit? Leaving. Even the chair squeaked like it was warning me not to come back. Would I return to Lindy's Tavern? My "go to" place when I am working and need something quick to munch on or something savory to satisfy my pallet. Either way, the food is flavorful and delicious. You won't find well prepared food at a better price! This past weekend I enjoyed the "small" lobster roll and it was quite large and excellent! Far better than some snob appeal restaurants for sure! Staff are efficient and the food is served promptly. Can be a little noisy at prime time, be forewarned but quieter midafternoon during the week. read more

I was asked while waiting in line if it was my first time to Lindy's. It was and the kind lady let me know that the food was fantastic. She was so right! I started with the seafood chowder because I am not a red chowder person but I won't hold that against them! This place does comfort food and seafood options in a big way. Portions are large. I had the seafood platter and it was cooked perfectly. You will most likely have some to take home. The seating area is pretty open and there is a nice bar area. Service was great.
