Staff here really saved the day for me. i'm not entirely sure what happened, but my app that I use called a better route planner seem to be indicating I could make it all the way to Pollock Pines on the current charge level that I had and indeed I did make it, but rolled in with 0% charge. The car would not start and I could not make it down to the charger, which is only 1 mile There is a level-2 tesla charger here, but it has not yet been approved by the county to use for public EV charging. it's only meant for employees and owners. Regardless, since I rolled in on 0% battery charge, they made a exception and let me plug in for a little while so that I can actually make it up to the level 3 charger in the morning. I used to like this place because it was convenient. I've gone there for several decades, at least a couple times a year. Two time I've noticed the rooms getting worse and worse. One time I found a giant tampon in my bathroom. Then I found where are you staying on my sheet, but this last time was the worst. One roll of toilet paper in the room, my pillow smell like perfume, but worst of all was a lack of respect and derogatory racist feelings I felt when I was outside at the vending machine. I was feeding money to the machine and the door to left me burst open. One of the managers or owners stepped out and looked at me. Right off the bat he asked what are you doing here? Why are you here? He demanded "do you have a room here" and I said yes. He said yes which one and questioned my honesty. He thought it was some kind of homeless bum. I told him which room I was in and he asked me twice more to verify it. I've never been so humiliated in my life. These guys are horrible human beings.. I'll never go again. Avoid like the plague. read more

We were in Pollock Pines for a wedding this past weekend and this hotel gave us a group rate so it was great having everyone all in one place. It's not fancy but it was clean. I gave three stars for two reasons...They use Fabuloso to clean, which is migraine inducing for me. We asked them not to clean our room during our stay because of this. Also, where most hotels have a check-in time of 3pm, theirs is 4pm so we were charged a $20 early check-in fee even though it was 3pm and our room was ready. The staff was friendly and helpful the little bit we interacted with them. We did not try their breakfast... If you need a place to lay your head and don't get migraines from strong smelling cleaning products, then this place is okay. read more

We have stayed at this hotel four times in the last three years. Until this trip, we have been very pleased with our stays, However this time was less than satisfactory. We love this hotel because of its proximity to Applehill and the two bed suite that allows for our seven year-old son to have his own room with a pullout couch. Our main problem on this stay was with the front desk clerk who checked us in. His name is Shiv and I warn anyone coming to stay here to be wary about asking for anything from him. We had another issue with him the year prior when I came down in the morning to ask for extra coffee pods. He was very reluctant to give me any and finally I persuaded him to give me one extra. This trip it started at check-in. I booked online as I have done every time in the past. I always book 3 adults and one child and book with the same credit card. I was called two days prior to our check-in from a different clerk, saying we had no credit card on file. No big deal but I did use a credit card to book and should have the same one on file from past visits. When I checked in with Shiv he said we only booked one adult and would have to pay $10 extra for the other two occupants. I explained that I booked four people and that my child should be free anyways. He agreed about my son but still made us pay an extra $10 for an extra adult. Again, no big deal, However, his lack of professionalism throughout the conversation was worrisome. I really hope someone can help him work on his customer service and maybe he can learn to show a little bit of care and concern for the customers. Every time we have dealt with him, we felt like he was just trying to get rid of us without having to put forward any kind of effort on his part. After going up to our room and getting settled, we set up my son's bed with the pullout couch. After searching the room, there were no pillows for that. I went downstairs and asked Shiv for two extra pillows. He looked around awkwardly and said he didn't have them. The hotel was nowhere near fully booked and he fumbled with the laundry he was doing, handed me one pillow and said will this be OK? I said sure and grabbed it and left. The room itself was still very clean and spacious enough for the four of us. The only other concern on this trip was that the breakfast spread in the morning was significantly downsized from the prior years. They got rid of their juice machine and only offered a lukewarm picture of apple juice. The toaster had four slots, but after fumbling with it for several minutes, I discovered only one, the far right one actually works. The hot options usually included, scrambled eggs and some kind of breakfast meat, but this time it was just the eggs. And we were very disappointed that each of the cereals coming out of the machines were very stale. We make an annual trip to come out to Apple Hill every year for my wife's birthday. I still like this hotel for many reasons and will probably continue to stay, but we will also look for different options now. If we do return next year, I only hope we don't have to deal with Shiv again. What a disappointment! Please do better! read more

Nice reasonably priced little Inn on a good piece of property that made it nice and easy to have our dog with us. I will say online they don't tell you there is a pet fee so we ended paying more then we expected. I also booked a king room but was considering upgrading to their advertised fireplace sweet but upon checking in they said they no longer have the fireplace and it is now covered. I would have been very disappointed if I had booked the fireplace room without a fireplace. Luckily the king room suited us fine and over all we are satisfied with our experience. Other things to note, even with the AC on and sliding door open in October the room was very hot and the breakfast ended very early so plan to by up at 7am if you want any! read more

Certainly there is nothing that a hotel can do about a commercial power failure. But when the frequency of power failures is so great, and so predictable, the hotel management could have a plan to assist guests during a power failure. During a snowstorm, at about midnight, the power went off as the desk clerk predicted. hey generator started up for, apparently, a property next door. But the hotel was plunged into complete darkness. There was no flashlights, no emergency lighting. and the temperature in the room rapidly dropped to around 47 degrees Fahrenheit. There were no offers of extra blankets, or any other means for dealing with the cold. I dealt with the situation on my own, and managed to get some sleep. It was sort of like camping outdoors in the winter. In the morning I woke to find my car completely buried under the snow. it wasn't just the snow that had fallen from the sky that was burying my car. Apparently hotel management had arranged for a snow plow to come through the parking lot. Instead of offering the guest some assistants by helping to dig out their car, they further buried the car under the removed snow. upon checkout, there was no sign of any hotel employee. guests were left to dig their own cars out of approximately 6 feet of piled up snow. I am a relatively physically fit person, so I guess I enjoyed the workout. But apparently the management is too ignorant to consider the possibility that many people die from heart attacks while shoveling snow. I've stated hotels all over the world. I've been through midnight Hotel fire evacuations, floods, earthquakes, and even all night power failures. I know enough to know that it is the hotel Management's responsibility to ensure the safety of their guests. And this hotel did not. They were ill-prepared. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE THE VICTIM OF FALSE CHARGES!! We checked in around midnight (myself, husband and two young sons) and left the following morning around 630am. I was checking my credit card statement and noticed a $100 charge from the hotel. I called them and they said it was a charge bc the room smelled like marijuana. I told them there's no way. We checked in exhausted, passed out and then left early the next morning for our camping trip with friends. No one smoked in or near the room. They claimed the room had to be cleaned and was useless for two days. They also said they always alert people when they charge their card but I asked them to tell me when they called and they could not provide that information. Basically it was our word against theirs. It's complete BS and I will post this on every site that this hotel is advertised on bc I am sure we were not the first people this has happened to. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

The stay was wonderful from beginning to end! Staff: The staff was very friendly. Hitesh and Tish, the supervisor, were amazing! Tish went above and beyond- gave us tips on restaurants, wineries and places to check out! She called our room to see how we were doing and if we needed anything else! Ann- the nice lady who takes care of breakfast was such a sweetheart! She was kind and helpful. She walked around with a smile on her face each morning, checking to see if the buffet needed more food. She asked if we wanted orange juice and gladly served it. Hotel Room: the hotel was nice and spacious! There was a separate living room and kitchenette. It had a tv so it was perfect for a hang out! The beds were soft and sheets were clean! Pool: the pool is a decent size. It was somewhat cold, but I took a dip first thing in the morning! Breakfast: the breakfast was delicious! They have a magical automatic pancake maker. I was mesmerized! They served eggs, sausage, pancakes, cereal, bread, coffee and tea! Overall: our stay was a 5/5! Awesome staff, nice hotel, peaceful and quiet! Highly recommend! read more

Was not from the area and was worried about staying in a place so far out but was surprised by the well kept grounds and extremely well lit parking lot, like football stadium lighting. I usually park my car inside and was worried but parking was great. The rooms are large and clean and the couple that runs it was very attentive to anything we needed. Close to the lake. We found this place by accident after arriving at 10pm , and realizing we were locked out of the campground we had planned to stay at that night. We wandered around, following signs of civilization, passed saloon after saloon while driving down Pony Express Trail and then found this place. I tend to like smaller, kitschy, borderline-shady motels, but given that the one further down the street looked like a hobo retreat, we stopped here for the night. Despite the Western stagecoach theme on the outside, inside the rooms were as modern as any motel could be and way better than expected. Rooms were about $100, and were HUGE and clean. 2 sinks (one outside the bathroom, one inside), a private balcony with a forest view...who knew? We missed breakfast (they stop serving at 9), so ended up making coffee, sitting on the huge king-sized bed, and cramming in some cable tv before heading off to our campground. As we left, the owner (?), sweeping the parking lot (?!), waved goodbye. Not quite a 4, not quite a 3. I'd stay here again, especially if on a visit to nearby Apple Hill. read more

Best Western Stagecoach is one of the most comfortable and friendly places we've stayed. We appreciate their upbeat attitude and incredibly clean rooms and oh so comfy beds!!! We weren't able to participate in their breakfast, but I'm sure it was a class act. Everything in the room was updated, with a fridge, microwave, granite, and even a dvd player (could've been Blu-ray). The surroundings of this hotel were beautiful! There is a smaller pool with hot tub, in a gorgeous mountain setting. We had a million pillows to just melt into after a long day of travel. When we go back to this area in the future to spend some time - because traveling the 50 is quite an amazing journey, we will be staying here again. If you're ever in this neck of the, seriously it's in the woods, this is definitely the place to stay!! read more

Room was not ready at check in time, I get it they were short staffed. Door to room was wide open when we were able to check in at 7pm. The lights were not on and didn't work with the switch. Not even there 20 minutes and the neighbors downstairs complain that were making too much noise. I have a 8 year old boy and he wasn't even being rowdy. The ac unit is so loud that it wakes everyone up every time is turns on and off. When we booked room the website said Fireplace in king bedroom! The fireplace was in the main room. Three levels, no elevator. Choose a street level room (in the 200s) if you don't want to struggle with getting your luggage up and down stairs. If you are offered a room in the 100s you will go downstairs. The staff was great, especially the fellow in the breakfast area. Even though this hotel is considered pet-friendly, the hotel manager told us that he didn't like that we would be keeping our dogs in our room while we were out. We keep our dogs in a cage & they are crate-trained. He walked us over to our room & walked into the room to make sure that we would be putting them into the crate while we were gone! I've never had this happen to me before! The rooms are nice enough, carpets a little stained, ant problem in the bathroom, mildew in the shower. There is a little rock area behind the hotel to walk your dogs around on a leash. There are two separate sinks - one inside the toilet/shower area, one outside that area. read more

Stayed here while having a weekend away in Apple Hill. We got the family suite. It was very clean and had real glass cups and coffee mugs. The continental breakfast was a lot better than I expected and was constantly being replenished. The bedding and room was clean. The staff was friendly. Its nestled in a beautiful area. Okay so not our hotel chain and yes my Husband is a total hotel snob, but we were on our way to Tahoe it was super late and a storm came in, not knowing what the condition was going to be like up the mountain we pulled over to the gas station and say the sign for this hotel on the side of the freeway. It was a great deal and again just needed a place to lay our heads that night however the hotel room was very big, quiet and clean. Made last minute reservations the day before arrival and got accomidated with no problems. The management is very nice and the rooms were very comfortable. After staying here before I kind of new what to expect. However I did not expect everything being newly refurbished, carpet, walls, beds....... very nice. This is our "go to" place every year. I made a reservation for the Fourth of July - 3 months away. I did not receive any kind of confirmation of my reservation but they did place a "hold" on my bank account for almost $200 for four days. When I called to cancel my reservation because of this unnecessarily long hold, I was met with an argumentative young woman who escalated my complaint and accused me of threathing her. The room would probably be fine to most people, however there was not enough room to move around the beds, we recieved different numbers of towels some nights, and the room had no ventilation. First of all, the motel is pretty good overall. We've stayed here before and I like the quiet and tree lined environment. The rooms are comfortable and clean. However, we do NOT appreciate being accused of breaking their TV! When we checked in, the older gentleman asked me for a credit card, then told me it didn't match the one on file. So I gave him that one and he said it was declined. I couldn't figure out why that would be and later found out that it was a system error! Then, we asked for extra pillows. He said we already had four on the bed...We said we needed MORE pillows! We had called earlier in the day, so a rollaway.would be placed in the room....NOT! But the guy brought it over shortly after we arrived. An hour later, we finally tried to turn on the TV, but nothing. We turned it on manually, but the remote would not control the volume or power off the TV. We called grumpy over to ch we check it out. That's when the third-degree began to happen! He said we may have bumped it...so what it if we had...it shouldn't affect the remote! We had NOT done any such thing! He kept asking if we had turned it on when we first arrived. We had not, but he seemed to think something happened in the meanwhile! Today he came back to check it out and wanted to wait until we left. (I DON'T THINK SO!) He came over then and said a chip in the TV must be malfunctioning and he said we could move to another room. I said I didn't want to move and we wanted to get going and not wait.for.the.other room to vacate. I told him he could discount our room, but NO WAY! "We don't do that!", he said. Then I said he could move the other room's TV into our room. Oh no!.The damn thing is bolted down and that would be too much work! He said his repairman wouldn't come out on a holiday weekend, but then I guess he called him and claimed he would come at noon. When we left, he asked where we were going and when we would be back! The nerve! We.felt like he was up to something and did not feel.at all comfortable with his line of questioning! We came back.at the end of the day and the damn thing was fixed. But come on! What a grumpy penny pinching curmudgeon! This place needs someone who knows how to treat it's patrons with respect! I may stay here again, but hope Iwo Jim has moved on! read more

We've stayed here twice for dog shows and loved being in the hills above Placerville. Our room was large, complete with a balcony, three sinks, fridge, and microwave. High quality bed covers and bed skirts (GFI) and fluffy towels. Clean, quiet and ample parking / dog walking area. The free breakfast doesn't include the hot eggs, etc. offered by some other Best Westerns, but there are plenty of choices, including do-it-yourself waffles, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, juice, fruit, breads and baked goods. One night stay in room 209 after a day at the Gold Bug Mine in Placerville - only about 10 minutes away. Quiet, comfortable, very clean and has everything you need- including a swimming pool and standard breakfast. Front desk is efficient and provides great service-we asked for a rollaway cot , and they delivered right away. 5 minutes up the quiet road there's Safeway, CVS and Starbucks. Over priced for a hotel in the middle of nowhere, but we decide to still make reservations and drive over 500 miles then the place had no water and couldn't give us a room they offered no compensation or alternative just said they would call if they fixed the water and we never herd back from them.. We came to visit a dying family member and had to drive home that night.. Thanks guys!!! read more
