I used to go to be loyal to Family Eye Care center (total vision) in Campbell, but for many many years I always left my appointment annoyed because the fee they quote me before my appointment is not what they charge me at the end of the appointment. This happened also for contact orders. I was there almost 20 years, but i am so glad I left. Bella is so wonderful! Specs Optical is an amazing shop! It's located in a little strip plaza and parking here is very easy. I was the very lucky winner of their awesome Instagram contest for #NationalSunglassesDay and won a pair of sunglasses! How cool! Esther, her husband and their pup Riley are so sweet! You'll be in great hands! I had a choice of several pairs, and Esther was so patient while I tried on the different pairs. I chose an amazing Kenneth Cole pair featuring polarized lens. They are very cool, very lightweight and feel great on my face. They are definitely going to be my new go-to pair! They also came with a nice case and lens cloth. I browsed the rest of the shop while I was in and I was so utterly impressed with their very cool, curated collection of both eyeglasses and sunglasses. All of the glasses are so so stylish! There's really unique glasses here! If you're hunting down cool frames, you need to highly consider coming to Specs Optical! Esther is happy to help you choose a pair just right for you too. Even I think it's probably worth the drive from the far East Bay for their collection. It's really good! What I haven't seen other reviews mention is that they are quick to help me get my VSP insurance reimbursement for frames, lenses, and annual eye exam from their on-site eye doctor. You fill out a form after purchase with your insurance details and they mail it in for you like a mail-in rebate. Except unlike these new age mail in rebates, I get a check in the mail in under 3 weeks instead of a limited use gift card in 3 months (based on our family's last few insurance checks coming in reliably). read more

This place was recommended to me from a good friend when I was in search of a non-hassle place to purchase a pair of glasses. That was a few years ago. Not sure why I'm the first one reviewing this business since they've been around for some time now, and not sure what others' experiences are here, but every time I've been here, they've been greatly helpful and have been quick to answer my questions. I bought a pair of glasses here two years ago, and they still fit wonderfully...which is also in part that my prescription hasn't changed much. I came back here again to get another pair, and they were on top of it to help me pick out another pair. Once the screws on my frame fell off, and I dropped by without notice and showed them, and they immediately fixed it and now it fits perfectly. Prices are reasonably affordable here too. Honestly this is a no fuss and super affordable way to buy glasses. I was referred here by someone who was fitting me for contacts and I couldn't be happier. For those wondering, they speak Mandarin and English. Since my Mandarin is awful I spoke in English and had no problems. The prices are listed above each display and vary in price. They start at $89 and that includes the frame, lenses and anti reflective coating. Once you have given them your prescription and picked your frames, they place an order and your new glasses are ready in about 5 days. Unfortunately I don't think they make the lenses on site like some other places so waiting will be inevitable. Parking can be a problem but the shop is small and people are usually in and out with their glasses. They have a great selection of frames given the tiny storefront and they accept card. Also they have many styles that fit the flat noses and wide faces of most Asians. I'll most definitely be back, the service is quick, kind and no fuss. Plus there's another pair of frames I had my eye on. At $99, I can afford to get a back up pair of glasses now instead of just using my old pair. read more

I had been putting off a trip to the optometrist for quite awhile but then realized while driving that I was starting to have trouble reading street signs. I quickly booked an appointment at Specs Optical in Saratoga and am so glad I did. I got a complete eye exam from Dr Ly. It was completely painless and noninvasive and she was able to write me a prescription right there! With my freshly dilated eyes, I was then able to look at their selection of frames! Specs has a BEAUTIFUL selection of high end frames. These are not the cheap ones you get at Lens Crafters or the try on pairs you can get in the mail. I tried on several pairs by Dior, Tom Ford and settled on a pair of gorgeous Gucci frames! Esther measured my face and eyes for the frames (Note: If you buy frames over the internet and don't get them actually fitted by a professional, you are really missing out. It's the only way to get an exact fit) I got my glasses about a week later! They also billed my insurance for me! I found great frames with clip-ons at a reasonable price (even better during a special promotion). So i filled a challenging prescription from our family eye doctor and found after a week that it was way too strong. After discussing it with Esther, we did a similar eye exam at Specs which yielded a lighter prescription. Esther then discussed the results with our family eye doctor and they agreed on a lighter prescription. I was so relieved. The stronger lenses were causing headaches. The re-do was covered by the shop's warranty and I was grateful for Esther's help in sorting out the prescription. The new glasses look and feel great, vision is more crisp. Specs is a great shop for frame selections at good prices. I shopped around at other area optical shops and they don't compare. But service is unbeatable at an owner-run shop like Specs.
