We needed a replacement for our ancient HVAC system. They came out the next day, on time, and worked very efficiently to complete the job quickly and properly, and for a fair price. They needed to come by again about two months later, when the weather got warmer, to adjust coolant levels, and again came on time and did the work properly. They were great - all staff were polite and tidy. Nick and Andrew were great. 5/5 will definitely use again, as we have had many problems with other HVAC businesses in the past. read more

We were just charged $100 more than 12 months ago for semi-annual a/c maintenance. Completely outrageous. When appt made with scheduler, it should have been mentioned the company had a price increase. We've been a client for years, but will definitely look at other options in the future. Completely unreliable. The maintenance agreement is just an excuse to recommend unnecessary, expensive work. They came out for maintenance and said everything was great. The knocking noise our condenser was making was nothing to worry about, they said. One week later, the unit stopped cooling. The new diagnosis was we not only needed to replace a leaking evaporator coil, we also needed to replace the entire condenser. They gave us lie after lie as to why the story was different just one week later. They never even sent us a quote for the repair/replacement, knowing that we were skeptical, even though we had a paid maintenance agreement. A more honest repair man replaced the evaporator coil, recharged the refrigerant, and the knocking stopped. Everything is working perfectly months later. Avoid this company specifically, and maintenance agreements in general. read more

Bellair Heating and AC is consistently on time and on budget. The service techs are knowledgeable and friendly, never messy, always clean up and take care of you. They also will give you recommendations but they do not push products or services the way some other companies do. read more

Though they did fix my AC unit their prices are extremely high. The part cost about $20 and I was charged $350 for something that took less then 10 mins to fix. Find another company. read more

Three Weeks (And Counting) Leaking Air Vent We had a leaking air vent about a year ago, and they came out and supposedly repaired it. Out of nowhere, it started leaking again 3 weeks ago. I relayed the history of the leak and associated repairs when I made the appointment. The first technician they sent didn't have the information I provided, and was here very briefly before deciding he didn't know what was going on and would need a supervisor to come out the next day. Next day came and went. I called again the following morning and the supervisor came out and said he didn't see the request from the day before. He made a determination about the source of the leak, and we discussed another issue regarding our MBR not properly cooling and being the warmest room in the house. His solution was to replace (again) all of the first floor duct work and re-design it to optimize air flow to the MBR. The following Monday (5/9) I received the estimates, and I called to schedule the project, so we could get the leak fixed. I didn't hear a response Monday, so I followed-up again Tuesday. At this point, it's been leaking for over a week and the surrounding sheetrock is continuing to deteriorate. Was told the specific crew needed to do the work was not available until the following Monday. Another week goes by. The project was supposed to start Monday (5/16), and it was going to be a full two-day project. Monday comes, and we don't hear anything. I reach out to the supervisor and don't hear back. At 10:30am I call the main office and was told the work can't start that day bc the supervisor is out. Re-scheduled for 8am Tuesday. 8am Tuesday comes and goes. I call at 9am and ask about the status and was told they would find out and call me back. I call back at 10am and ask again, still no information about our project and was told they would get back to me. I never received another phone call to explain what was going on or attempt to re-schedule. I finally reached out yesterday to speak with the owner and haven't heard from him either. I have never left a review before. But after all of the business we have provided to them in 2.5 years (which it should not matter if we were new customers and had never spent a dime with them), and the fact we have an active, ongoing leak in our house, we are truly beside ourselves. The customer service and communication has been horrendous. We hope that no one else ends up in a similar position. read more

I have used Bellaire A/C for many years (service, repair, replacement, Harvey) and each time the service was quick and honest. The mark of a great service company is when there is a manufacture problem with equipment. After Harvey we installed a 5 ton unit at our home. Over the next three years the compressor failed several times. Each time the repair was done immediately with as little disruption to our comfort as possible. In November the compressor failed again. After speaking with Rusty, the owner, he suggested to replace the unit with another brand. I was frankly amazed at this offer but believe it has solved the problem and I do not anticipate any issues in the future. Bellaire A/C is a remarkable service company but more important they back up the equipment they provide. read more

I do not recommend this company. I replaced two HVAC systems last year and also bought two new touchscreen thermostats. Bellaire Air Conditioning's quote for the same two systems (one 16 SEER 4 ton and one 17 SEER 5 ton) was almost twice as much as my other quote -- without thermostats. That level of price gouging is outrageous. Edit to respond to the owner: Thank you for your response. To expand on my review: your quote was for 1 16 SEER 4 Ton System and 1 17 SEER 2 stage 5 ton system, both Trane. The contractor I ended up using installed 1 16 SEER 4 ton system, 1 17SEER 2 stage 5 ton system, all American Standard, PLUS two touch screen Nexia 824 thermostats and a zoning board to create an additional zone, PLUS two Honeywell whole house media filters. To quote a large HVAC contractor in Arizona who has been an authorized dealer for both Trane and American Standard, "There is no difference between Trane and American Standard, they're exactly the same product! . . . Not only are both brands manufactured in the same facility (in Tyler, Texas), they go down the same assembly line. They're put together by the same people & machines, on the same conveyor belts, right next to each other. Again, I've seen it myself multiple times with my own eyes. . . . The equipment cost is virtually the same between the two brand names. In fact, they are within a few dollars of each other model by model." The contractor goes on to note the only difference is the paint color and the badge. Your bid was $14,710 more than the contractor I used -- for the same two systems. And your bid did not include all of the extras I note above. So, yes, it is my "perception . . . that [your] price are too high." Almost $15,000 too high. read more

They installed an evaporator for us at our rental property and did a good, albeit expensive, job. The repairman was knowledgeable and professional but pretty wordy with the technical jargon. You will get a little lost hearing them talk about the various parts, cooling fluids...etc. Still, they got the equipment installed with a relatively quick turn around and made our appointment as scheduled. My issue with them arose on the second encounter a year later. Our tenants complained that the AC wasn't cooling so we called Bellaire (aka Republic A/C) back in case it was an evaporator problem. Turns out the central duct was falling apart so he had to rearrange some of the duct placement. Also, a few parts in the compressor needed to be replaced (tech told me a capacitor and start kit was needed). However, the tech made the replacements before asking me for the OK and charged me $425 after the fact. What kind of repairman makes a $400+ charge on replacement parts without getting approval from his customer first?? Then he quoted me new ducting and a new compressor, indicating ours was aging and needed replacement soon. He called me back later to summarize the charges and remind me of what components needed to be replaced. He reassured me that for the time being the AC worked (so our tenants would be ok on the hot August day). Later that afternoon, less than 6 hours later, our tenants called to inform us the AC was not working again. I called back the tech, assuming it was because of the old duct issues he told me about. He mentioned he would try to go back the next day (Saturday) to replace a main duct but he wasn't able to (he called our tenants to inform them in the morning). I don't blame him for not making it the next day b/c of the short notice. However, we arranged for another company to inspect the next day (we used this guy, an independent tech, previously at our own house). He told us the compressor went out again. He then quoted us a new compressor at 50% the price of Bellaire, so we replaced it immediately. I called the next week to politely ask why Bellaire did $400+ of work on a compressor that was going to die and tell them I felt like I didn't get a fair deal for my money. I spoke to Jay, a woman who ignored my complaint, simply telling me she'd talk to someone and call me back. 3 days later, still no call back, and when I called her, she said "nothing had come back to her desk about it," so nothing could be done. No accountability and low rate customer service. Plus, it's been 3 weeks at this point and they have not emailed me the invoice they promised to send that same day. I asked for it and Jay simply said they planned to send it to me quickly... Thank goodness our independent tech was available to install the compressor immediately. Our tenants are comfortable (and safe) and we still saved a bunch of money over Bellaire's high prices (even after paying the useless $425 that day. We own 2 houses in the area and Bellaire or Republic will never work on our AC's again. read more

This company coordinates with my family's busy schedule and makes repairs promptly. We've been relying on their expertise for many years and they are always on time. We have been customers of this company since 1988 when we moved into our house. It is nice to work with a company that retains its employees long term (Sam, Charlie, Robert) as they know us and our system. They have always been responsive and gotten to us as quickly as possible when we have made a service call. They are good at keeping a system going, and equally good when it is time for a replacement. We just had a complete new system installed and all the duct work in our 1956 house changed out and were pleased with the polite, professional service provided. read more

We've used these guys for years and have only had one lack luster experience, so 5 Stars is pretty much the standard. Several technicians have been there for years - which speaks volumes for the owner, Mr Miller. They're reliable, trustworty, clean up their work area, wear booties in the house, and warrant their work. Not the cheapest but a long way from being expensive. read more

We had always used a cut-rate A/C company to repair the numerous A/Cs we have at the homeless facility where I work. However, it seemed like the repairmen were having to come out constantly. We finally had enough and decided to try a different company. My boss had previously found Bellaire A/C on Angie's list when he had had a home A/C issue. He was pleased with their work, so we gave them a call. Their rates, although more than we used to pay, were still reasonable, and they did a great job. The technician explained to me in layman's terms exactly what was wrong, and what it was going to take to fix it. We've received positive comments from residents and employees alike about the improvement in air quality. read more

Their yearly maintenance contract is worthwhile. I've had one with them for the past five years, and they always take good care of me. Twice a year they come do preventative work and check on things, and if anything goes wrong they turn up right away, usually for no extra charge. read more

We just had our AC unit replaced and called Bellaire A/C based on a referral from someone we totally trust. We could not have been happier - our friend's trust is well founded! We wanted an A/C unit that was very energy efficient, and we wanted someone who knew what they were doing - we found this with our customer service rep and the installation team!!! Charlie gave us an honest assessment and several options. Robert (installation team leader) and Mario (his right-hand man) came out the day before the installation to check out the location. Since we were in a condo, this was not going to be easy, but they figured out how to do it. And they did! They were very efficient (arriving before appointed time) and got right to work. They encountered several problems installing in an apartment turned condo, but were very creative. The team was extremely clean in the house and very considerate. They showed us how to set the new thermostat and made sure everything was working perfectly before they left. We look forward to working with them in the future. If I had one complaint, it was the office staff. They never returned our calls, but as long as we were dealing with the people doing the work, it was better than perfect!!! read more
