Bella's is one of those Chico places that just feels like Chico. It's been a downtown staple for years, and even though I don't make it in nearly as often as I used to, every time I go back it feels pretty much exactly how I remember it, in a good way. The wings are the obvious move here. Bella's has built a reputation around them for a reason. They're big, messy, loaded with flavor, and absolutely not something you order when you're trying to look civilized. If you leave with completely clean hands, I'm not sure you actually ate wings. The rest of the food holds its own too, but coming to Bella's and not at least considering the wings feels slightly disrespectful. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a downtown sports pub. TVs everywhere, games on, people talking over each other, drinks moving around, and enough noise to make the place feel alive without completely losing the ability to have a conversation. On a big game day, it's even better. Service has always been friendly and laid-back in my experience, even when they're slammed. There's nothing overly polished about Bella's, and honestly, I wouldn't want there to be. That's part of the charm. I don't go out in downtown Chico nearly as much as I used to, but Bella's is still one of those places I'm always happy to end up at. Good wings, cold drinks, sports on every screen, and that familiar downtown Chico energy. Some places don't need to reinvent themselves. So, Bella's has one of the best Happy Hours, IMO. I love me a cold brew off the tap (Sierra Nevada) along with their loaded tots. The serving is so HUGE and they are spiced to the max with a great mix of cheese (lots of it!), bell peppers, onions, and hamburger (I think), whatever the meat is... ITS DELISH!! I go there when I want great bang for my buck, def a super good deal. Stopped in here 3 weeks ago with some friends to have a couple drinks and grab a quick bite to eat. I want to try more of the menu before truly giving this a rating but I decided to go ahead with my review. I have never been here before so I can't comment on the previous things or new changes I guess that took place but I ordered up half a dozen wings, Nachos & a few Corndogs for the table. First things first; The nacho cheese was SPICY. I think anyone who has ordered them would have to agree. Yes, it was notated in the description but I didn't really like them this spicy to be honest. I never find myself complaining about the cheese on my chips but give them a try and find out! It was a bit much in my opinion. The Corn dogs? Were just that. I always think they are going to be good when I go somewhere and they are labeled as hand dipped or something fancy but the freezer boxed ones would have tasted just the same. I'm not sure why smacking an $8 price tag for a hotdog makes you think it will be worth it but I wasn't too excited about that dish either. Now, last but not least, the wings! They are $2/ea for one wing, which any higher and I would probably say this is overly inflated. The good thing is I would say they meet the expectation of paying more for a larger portion. They are MEATY, smothered in an incredible sauce and very filling. I don't want to get ahead of myself but out of any wings around these are the biggest and tastiest i've had. $12 for six wings but I would have to say they were worth it. Overall, the presentation of the food was wonderful. It was plated nicely and served to us in a timely fashion. But sometimes presentation isn't everything because the Corndogs were bland and the spice on the Nachos drowned out any other flavor. I think I'll come for wing night. Thank you guys! Great experience at Bella's on an interesting night in Chico....so this was our last night visiting, we had tried a few places downtown all weekend and were confident we could find a nice quiet dinner spot walking distance from the vrbo house. However, we didn't know that it was Downtown Chico's "Christmas Preview" event that Sunday night----there were hundreds of people on the street and all the restaurants had lines out the door (so glad we walked! parking would have been tough). Just as we gave up on finding anywhere to eat within a reasonable amount of time we saw Bella's!! It looked warm and inviting inside-a regular sports bar and grill so we gave it a try and I'm so glad we did. Our bartender was a gem! She checked on us often and got our drinks and food out fast. Great craft beer selection and huge tvs all around. We enjoyed some of the SNF game. Seemed like a lot of regulars come here, anytime someone came in they were greeted by other people there or by the bartenders. Ben had chicken tenders and fries-good! and I had the loaded tots-very very good! Just the right amount of cheesey and spicy and lots of crispy tater tots. I would love to go back to Bella's next time I'm in Chico. read more

Great food! Great service! The cola braised pulled pork sandwich was so good and the Thai Shrimp salad was so fresh... but maybe cut back on the spice a bit. My friends and I just left from here because my friend was assaulted by a man who had his girlfriend in a chokehold. They were against her, making her chair fall out from her, and she hit her head on the bar. These same people were also spitting racist profanity before this happened. We told the bartenders and busman and they said that they would talk to them. We find out the busman was friends with these people so nothing happened to them. At any other bar these people would've gotten kicked out, please do better. read more

Went there with my crew for beer and dinner after work. Everyone was carded and produced a valid legal driver's license. One of my co-workers is a naturalized US citizen and his driver's license was different from the 2 others. The server took 20 minutes to decide if she would accept this "VALID" license - she demanded that he sign her order book to compare the signatures! She was rude and we all felt her and the other staff were ignorant regarding immigrant state issued drivers' licenses. We left after the beer and will never return to this dump - Get it together!, your service sucks and it took you 15 minutes to get around to us to even order the beer and there was not many people there to begin with. Great little bar to go to and watch a game. They have HD tv's everywhere so no matter where you are sitting you can watch the game. The bartender and bar backs are awesome and usually bring your drinks out to you. They have a wing challege that I have heard is pretty spicy. If you beat it you get a shirt or something like that. They could use some more seating but if you show up a couple minutes early you can usually catch a spot. It is pretty low key compared to some of the other bars in Chico which is usually a good thing for me. read more

Bella's is "famous" for it's wings, and lemme say....it's for a good reason. Hands down best wings I've ever had....ever,ever, everrr. 12 wings for $12? And the best I've ever had? Yes, yes, yes. I find this to be one of the best bars in downtown Chico to just order a good beer and hang out with your friends and watch a game or whatever else may be on the tv's. The bartenders are all super nice and will often hook you up. The last time I was in there they kept the kitchen open for us which was super nice. 9 times out of 10, Bella's is the opposite of what I look for in a bar. The food is run-of-the-mill pub grub and the beer selection is pedestrian. Really, the last would be a serious problem if it weren't for the fact that this is Chico and every bar in Chico is required by local ordinance to have at least three varieties of Sierra Nevada on tap. It's not even a great sports bar. Small, and the televisions are all sort of crowded around the place so it's a tossup whether you'll be able to hear the game that you want to watch. That 10th time, though... A few weeks ago, I went to the Kezar Pub in San Francisco, supposedly a local mecca for football (soccer) fans, and found all of one other person quietly watching the Man Utd/Birmingham game. Today, in a city that's a one-tenth the size of SF and a metro area about one-seventieth, Bella's had four people there waiting for the United/City League Cup game, and three of them were wearing United kits. Also unlike that poor bloke at Kezar, these four got loud when the situation called for it, and when Wayne Rooney headed in the deciding goal in stoppage time, the five of us were louder than the other 20-30 people in the bar combined. As it should be. Now yes, their only British beer was canned Boddington's, or as I like to call it "that stupid yellow can of foam with some vaguely beer-like flavoring," but anything Sierra Nevada makes will do in a pinch, the fish and chips were adequate, and the waitress brought malt vinegar BEFORE she brought anything that said "Heinz" on the label. Speaking of the waitress, she was absolutely wonderful throughout the 2+ hours I was there, even when it was getting crowded later on. I'm only basing this off of one visit, so I can't say for certain whether this is the standard level of service, but bloody good job to whatever the blonde's name was. Who would have guessed it?
