First off, I have huge respect for the people and businesses of Paradise & Magalia who chose to stay and rebuild from the wake of nightmarish devastation of the Camp Fire, Barney O'Rourke's is one of them. I'm new to the area so I don't have any previous experiences with the food from before the fire but I will say it was good, not over the top but the type of fare I would expect in a pub. But it arrived hot and appealing. The burger I had was delicious as were the fries. They had a nice selection of craft beers along with a full bar. The ambiance is fun, locals, families, friends getting together for a break away from the everyday so it can get a bit noisy, don't let that deter you. read more

Wanted to like this place but man was it bad. Burger Patty was In n Out thin but 2.5xs the price and the bun way too thick for the size. Fries were cheap quality and overall food just felt like a bad snack bar at crazy prices. read more

Food was not only fresh and delicious but clean and not heavy. The burgers are delicious and the season fries are killer along with the onion rings. The server was nice not pushy and genuine. We were in town visiting from Bay Area August 3rd for a couple hours. We weren't expecting fine dining so we're liked eating here. We met one of the owners and she was very nice and welcoming. Very clean and cozy. Burgers were great and prices were very reasonable. We would definitely return next time we visit. read more

Let me start by saying that I love this place. While I do not live in Paradise my daughter, grandson son in law and husband family do. So when my wife and I are visiting we love coming to this spot. Great burgers, lot of beers to choose from. Plenty of TV's for sports viewing. The food is fresh and maid to order. The staff is very attentive and pleasant. Always very clean inside. First off, all ya'll that have bitching about Barney's not being "an Irish bar". You are correct. Barney's is an institution. It's been around for 30 some odd years and I never once thought of it as an Irish bar. If you feel the need for corned beef, show up on March 17th. If you need a Guinness or Jameson, show up any a day. The fish and chips (although I substituted onion rings, and they were fantastic) and the fish tacos were amazing. Sit at the bar, have Taylor serve you and you will not be neglected or bored. She's awesome! Barney's is like a hug. Rebuilt after the fire and it feels like a lodge where all your friends are. If you're looking for an Irish bar, this is not it. If you're looking for family, you're home. read more

Wish I would of taken a picture! My elderly father and I went in today. We had taken a ride and ended up in Paradise. Yelped restaurants and found Barney O'Rourkes and I'm so glad we did. First off we I stepped inside I was welcomed by some well working AC...Score!! Great decor very Outdoor Western. Our order was taken and the food and drinks were quickly served. I have to say my Patty melt may of been the best I've had. Beef, cheese, grilled onions on French bread. The sauce was almost a thousand island but not quite. Whatever it was was perfect. My Dad was equally impressed with his BLT. I loved the fact that the sandwiches were not supersized. Perfect portions.The waitress was very pleasant , friendly and efficient. ( Dark hair girl with no smile and zero eye contact) like I said, kinda weird, unfriendly, doesn't make me want to go back anytime soon which sucks because I live within 1 mile. Only been here once for lunch. Staff are friendly and attentive Big horseshoe bar, plenty of tables, nice space. . They have some crayons, books for kids 3 screens for sports. I had a good hot buttered rum. The standard higher end liquor, 8 taps, and standard fare bottles and few cans, only saw 1 or 2 wines. Got the grilled chicken tacos that came with chips and salsa; generous tacos and good! It's pub food, and it's good. The burgers looked real good, and they offer a vegie burger as well as chicken sandwich. Comfortable, I'll be back, and maybe make it a regular place for myself . read more

We enjoyed a dinner here on a Saturday night. It was clean and nicely decorated. The only negative about the ambiance was the acoustics-- noise bounced around a lot. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. Our meals (a Patty Melt with onion rings and Fried Shrimp & Fries) arrived promptly and were plentiful and reasonably priced. The interior design is confusing for the name of the business. Yeah..... I get it..... it's still the name that you see first. I've eaten here three times, was really excited about a new bar and grill opening up on the ridge, but I must say each time we've eaten here it's been a complete disappointment. They are supposed to be known for their burgers ours were over cooked and flavorless, prices are pretty high considering what you're getting, a quarter pound burger is 11.00. Sides are all extra. Service is slow and none personal, our last visit (and they weren't busy) took 45 minutes to get our meal! The owner kept telling us you're next. When it comes to Barney O'Rourke's I can honeatly say that I have never had a burger I enjoy more than their classic(I add mustard). On top of that, they have a nice bar and it's a friendly atmosphere. No matter who attends me, I've always gotten nice customer service. We've waited over AN HOUR for our food on multiple occasions, tonight was the one that finally sent me over the edge. 50mins into the wait we FINALLY got our appetizer, We were fed up by this point but kept it civil. After another 15 mins of waiting I walked up and told them we're leaving and we'll pay for whatever we used. 1 Double Shot drink, 1 kids drink, 1 soda, 1 appetizer. That came out to just under $30 ontop of that my first drink was flat, so I got another, the other drink came with a surprise piece of something stuck to the inside of the cup half way down. I do not recommend this place, I will not go back here. Even Disneyland has shorter wait times than this place. read more

Enjoyed our first visit. The building is nice with large shaped bar area. The weather was warm so the inside was cool, we sat outside by the misters. That was a nice touch! I had not one but two servers tell me they would be right there to take my order and after waiting thirty minutes watching them walk by me multiple times and say they would be right there, another one came up to apologize and take my order only to be pulled away to do something else. Finally got my order ordered but I honestly just wanted to tell them to suck it and leave. Worst service ever. So disrespectful and rude did they not want to serve me cause I looked alternative!?! There are very few food options and the taste is not worth your time. It's mostly geared towards people who want fast easy alcohol, I think. The servers were nice enough, but nothing exemplary. The interior is new but very bland and I can't help but look at the giant saws and antlers on the walls and wonder how awful it would be if they fell down, you know? Salted fries cold from frozen . My mom sad the patty was like a McDonald's patty. They got our order mix up on the way like our burger cooked. So got them cooked right but no fires. So the put 10 chips instead.. I could not taste the burger I tasted the thousand island dressing type sauce and bread. Excellent tasting cheese mushroom burger and fries $13.50. Burger w fies is $10.50, cheese add $1, mushrooms add $2. Do notice that with all their prices listed on their menu tax is already included. So when they list their burger with fries for $10.50 it's really a $9.75 burger/fries plus tax. Bun was great. Fries somewhat like McDonalds (good). Friendly service. Comfortable seating, nice feel. I ate there 2 weeks ago and had the Taco's. I ending up vomiting for 5 days really sick because of the meal. I nearly had to go to the hospital. I told a friend who ate there the day before I did, had the Taco's, and also got sick. I can never return and eat there again. read more

Our group of four showed up today (a Sunday) right at noon, along with several other groups. We got the last table. The place was jammed, noisy, and the wait staff was overwhelmed. The waitress showed up a few minutes, was very pleasant, helped us with our order. A few minutes later our drinks arrived. 40 minutes after we arrived, our food arrived. This was too long for a lunch meal, but the food was good not great (2 fish & chips, 1 Barney's Burger, and a wrap). The fries were too salty, the dressing in the wrap was supposed to be on the side but wasn't, but the beer battered fish were good as was the cheeseburger. The two biggest issues were the long wait and the noise. Maybe the beautiful day brought out more diners than they expected because by the time we left several other wait staff had appeared. But they can fix the noise. The interior walls bounce the sound all over so it's hard to hear the person next to you much less the person across the table. They can apply well-known and not-too-expensive sound-management techniques to help control the crowd noise. The owners put in a big effort to rebuild after the fire. I suggest they invest a little more to upgrade to a first class dining establishment. read more
