Awful Experience. Awful service. Awful customer service. Damaged and Lost Items exceeded $8,000 in value. Bellhop refused to cover that. Emails and phone lines seem to be managed by AI and bots, so nearly impossible to talk with a person. They require you to consent to absolve Bellhop from blame of damage or missing items before they will even look at a claim. Their reimbursement rate is determined by weight instead of value. Steer clear of this nightmare of a company. read more

TLDR: go somewhere else beyond displeased with bellhop and I will not use them again. to start: bellhop is apparently like the expedia or booking.com for moving... they're a a third party that outsources multiple other companies to meet your moving needs (this was a long distance move from LA to SJ with furniture only and a few pre-packed boxes), so their photos online with Bellhop trucks and Bellhop tshirts are extremely misleading. My loaders were with Saulty's Moving. they showed up on time, they were polite and informative. The truck and driver (Reload Global Trucking?), however, showed up more than 3.5 hours late! Not once did the driver reach out to me to let me know of their whereabouts. First, at 30min late, I was told that they were a little delayed and hit some traffic but that they'd be there in the next hour. Then at that 1.5hr late mark, the next update was something about inspections and should be "released soon" but no one knew what that meant. At 2.5 hours late, my loading team lead tells me that he was told that the driver was PULLED OVER BY POLICE, and to give it another hour. All of that time that my loading team spent waiting around for the truck and supplies... they literally would have been done and we all would have been on the road. they did get started about a half hour past our start time to get boxes staged in preparation for the truck. but then we all twiddled our thumbs for 2.5 hours after that The truck finally arrived at 3 hours & 40 minutes late. Still, driver did not apologize or address the fact that he was almost 4 hours late. he never even spoke to me From here, the loaders loaded my boxes and then MINIMALLY wrapped my furniture with protective blankets or shrink wrap (using severely insufficient supplies brought by the truck). they did a terrible job with my sofa. it's a deep-seater and about 8ft long. they didn't cover it entirely nor did they secure all of the cushions so they fell on the ground, they then laid it (back down) onto the filthy truck bed. this sofa is 90% of the reason I pay for movers in the first place. I want professionals handling it and ensuring it is moved without damage. My bedframe is tufted fabric... and they didn't even shrink wrap it. Loaders finished 1:20hr after the truck arrived. Upon delivery, my unloaders (Smart Moving Inc) arrived within the 1hr arrival window, and my truck arrived 30min after my arrival window. The unload was fairly smooth. However, I was then very uncomfortably approached by the lead unloader, insisting that I tip. I had the understanding that I could tip all of my movers via my Bellhop dashboard. Because of this, I did not prepare myself with cash, as I was going to tip with a credit card online. The lead unloader told me that I couldn't do that, so he called his boss and put me on the phone with him. The first thing the boss says is "so you wanna tip my guys?" and I'm thinking "well, not anymore if there's such insistence." (look, I worked in the service industry for YEARS. I'm not going to NOT tip. but no one should ever make someone feel uncomfortable about it and pressure them to tip). Overall, my cream-colored fabric sofa arrived BLACK on one side, and black on every edge and corner. My cream-colored fabric bedframe, edges all black. My TV stand must have been placed on its side, and the shelves all fell off, causing damage and missing pegs. My record player cabinet arrived with busted edges. They had very little regard for my furniture. I chose to book with Bellhop because of their guaranteed flat fee for long distance moves. I would have preferred spending more money for the hourly offered by other moving companies. I'm incredibly displeased with the quality offered by Bellhop. read more

Price seemed reasonable but movers did a terrible job of packing and unpacking. For example, they separated TVs from their "feet" and screws, making it difficult to assemble the TVs. Still don't, weeks later, have the screws for the feet. They also packed clothing too tightly in wardrobes, causing significant wrinkling. They also packed art work poorly in cartons, letting them touch other pieces with no protection between them. They assembled one bed without installing the feet. Many other deficiencies. I do not recommend them. Further late showing up first day, ran out of packing supplies, and had to return another day to complete packing. Additionally, onew truck late for delivery by hours, resulting in inadequate unpacking as they allocate a limited number of hours both to pack and unpack. read more

Where do I start? Bellhop is structured around NO ACCOUNTABILITY AND NO RESPONSIBILITY for items that are STOLEN OR BROKEN. The more I go through my things, the more items I don't find that were STOLEN. That I will have to eventually try and replace. To think that you are supposed to trust a company with your personal belongings just to have these third-party/cons that Bellhop is clearly hiring pilfer through my personal belongings and take whatever the hell they wanted. While Bellhop doesn't hold any of these third-party/cons accountable. It's absolutely appalling. I will never use Bellhop again. read more

I just had a perfect move using Bellhop for loading only, the best moving experience I've had yet. Maurice and Dante were my movers, and they were awesome! My partner and I were moving from a 1br apartment in Oakland and driving a Uhaul to drop our things in storage in LA. We needed a team to wrap some of our furniture and load our stuff into the Uhaul so it was packed well and quickly for our trip. I got text notifications periodically leading up to the move, both times I had questions I called customer service and they were super helpful. On moving day, Maurice and Dante were right on time, all our stuff was loaded in 1 hour, and it was loaded very well in the truck so things were secure for the drive. None of our furniture was damaged in our move. Only negative was when I tried to use the chat customer service, they'd tell me to look for things in my online account that weren't actually available, and I'd end up having to call customer service anyways. In the end we worked everything out though. I'll be using Bellhop again! read more

This review is in regards to a move in mid June from San Francisco to Coachella Valley. The day of our move our movers were late. We were eventually told that the movers that Bellhop had contracted were unreachable and not coming. Our move was pushed to the next day. Our lease had ended so we had to stay in a hotel that night and let our landlord know our stuff would be in the house for an extra night. We were promised that movers would arrive at 8AM the next day. They showed up at 10 and finished loading just in time for rush hour. It took us 4 hours to get out of the Bay Area and we arrived in Coachella Valley at 3AM. We reached out to Bellhop multiple times to discuss cost/discount. They were hard to reach and promised callback but rarely followed through. There was mention of a 15% discount but we never saw it. We contested the charge with our credit card company but it was declined. Bellhop charged us the full $7000 deposit despite the fact that the services we signed a contract for were not rendered and our belongings were way underweight in comparison to their estimate. They took our hard earned money and ran-no discount, no deduction from the estimate . My husband and I feel completely taken advantage of. DO NOT use this company. They will steal from you and are not accountable for their own mistakes! read more

Absolute garbage company. Didn't show up on the morning of our move. Called at moving time to tell us they would be 2 hours late. Called an hour later to tell us they weren't coming at all because they didn't have a truck. Had booked 3 weeks ahead of time. They had already debited the money from my account!!! It was pending and not available to me. It was refunded after about 5 days. When I called customer service, was passed around and hung up on. When I finally spoke to someone, they said it would be over a week before they could get me moved. Of course I could not trust them to show up on a later date, but I would have thought a reputable company would have gone out of their way to take care of me the next day. Nope. My entire life was in boxes, and I was due out of my apartment the day after my scheduled move. They left me stranded, high and dry, and without the money I had set aside for my move. I was dreading my move so much. I had never used the company and expected the process to be an ordeal (last time I moved, the movers never showed up!). What a difference in experience. I can't emphasize enough what a great experience my move was last Friday with Bellhop team headed by an energetic, professional and smiling team captain J.J. They provided a 5 star service from finishing to end. I was not expecting this considering they are so affordable: I thought you get what you pay for and expected the experience to be hectic and stressful. They shrink wrap everything, were super careful with my glass table, had great suggestions, problem solving minded. As exhausted they may have been, the team never showed it nor made me feel bad. Very disappointed in the customer service received. Planned a very short move (less than 1/2 mile) and received terrible service. I was originally told that 4 movers (including driver) would be sent but 3 were provided. One of the workers was elderly and could not provide the required help that an able-bodied person would be able to give. This worker has to be dismissed from the move for the last couple of hours because he damaged several valuable items and could not do the heavy lifting needed. This worker was dropping boxes because he could not handle the weight which could have been damaged (don't know as I haven't opened the boxes yet). In summary, a very bad engagement and I could never recommend to anyone to use this service again. read more

For a simple job this was a mess, I moved from a 2 bedroom apartment to another 6 min down the road. The movers were on time, fast and for the most part took care of my stuff. My issue is was I was quoted 671 for 2 movers, I got the two movers, then after the move I was charged an additional 195 for a truck and driver but the driver was already one of the movers. Fast forward my television was damaged during the move, it looks like one of the movers grabbed it to hard or something crashed into the corner. I filed a claim on a 700 dollar television that now goes for 400 and the only want to offer me 221 in a settlement. I hired you for a service and something was damaged, replace my same TV at at the price its listed at. Sadly it seems this is what customer service is with this company. I cant even get a claims officer to speak with me on the phone. I call and they e-mail me back. I just want the company do to what is right and make me whole with the TV your guys damaged . One of the best moving experiences I have ever had! Me and my Fiancé have moved twice together. Our first time, with a different moving service, was a horrible to say the least. They took their time as they were getting paid by the hour. With Bellhop movers it was probably the easiest and seamless process. Booking them with their website was so simple and easy. Them keeping you up to date with each stage of the process was very reassuring. Our team leader was JJ and he was the most accommodating and very detail oriented. They came in and got everything out of our apartment within an hour to an hour and a half. We lived on the third floor with stairs and they had a system that nobody was climbing those stairs and over exhausting themselves. When arriving at the new house, we had new carpets installed and they payed some blankets down to protect the carpets. Again, JJ and the team were working so fast, efficient, and so accommodating. I scheduled a move for Friday. All my stuff needed to be cleared out as new tenants were moving in Sat. I got a call from the driver that he was an hour away. At the scheduled time, I get a text message that the two guys will not be able to make it and HQ will call to reschedule. This put me in a very difficult situation and I had to scramble to manage this snafu on my own. Will not use these guys again and I am less comfortable with their reliability. read more

My moving team (JJ, Walter, and Abdul) was EXTRAORDINARY. We gave the team a special challenge because 1) we live on a tiny street in SF with no parking; 2) we had some things that arrived from storage and needed to moved directly from another moving truck into the Bellhop truck; and 3) we had a huge amount of stuff in our house as well, including some oddly shaped items! Our team made the impossible possible, and they did it with confidence and dedication. JJ is a spacial genius and filled every square inch of our moving pod. Honestly, if anyone else had been our mover, I think we would have needed a second moving pod. Which is to say, JJ saved us $3,000. He was upbeat, kind, and motivated throughout. Both Walter and Abdul were efficient, hardworking, and careful with our items. Throughout the move, we were all chatting and laughing and having a blast. I've moved a lot, and this was one of the best experiences I have had with movers. I had a Uhaul that I drove up into San Jose, and booked a labor-only team. It wasn't the easiest set up for them. I had to park the truck several yards away from the building entrance, then I was on the top floor. The team I had -- JJ and Ben -- knew exactly what they were doing, took amazing care of all my stuff, and even stuck around to assemble my bed frame and desk. They were courteous, friendly, and just above and beyond professional. I have used Bellhops before in another state, and I have always been happy with the experience: It's a good value for the money. But honestly, the team in San Jose has gone above and beyond, and I highly recommend them. Especially if you get JJ and Ben, you're in good hands! read more

JJ and his team were fantastic, unloading a full 26' truck efficiently, split across 2 different unloading locations. They listened to instructions for items that I prioritized being delivered to the apartment location, and then expertly unloaded the rest of the truck and perfectly packed my storage unit (2nd unload location) so everything would fit. They were friendly, organized, and took care with our property, even noting certain items that were not labeled fragile but were obviously still delicate. When a snafu with HQ sent them to the 2nd address location first, they adjusted and still arrived on time to the correct first unload location. I don't want to move again anytime soon, but when I do, I'm looking forward to using Bellhop & JJ's San Jose team. read more

Totally unprofessional and fraudulent! I booked with them over a week ago and only today did they tell me that they were unavailable for this Saturday. They then told me that the first day that they would be available is March 2. The first person that I spoke to was extremely derogatory and didn't have a problem calling me racist names. The second person put me on hold for over 35 minutes until I hung up and called back. The third person that I spoke to told me that she would cancel my order after lying and saying that they hadn't charged my credit card which they had.
