I think I've officially turned the corner and started becoming an ajusshi... and not in the "make a lot of money and drive around in an exotic car where people enviously wonder what you do for a living" kind of ajusshi... More like the "complain too much about loud music and enjoy eating the pieces of pork belly that have bits of cartilage" type of middle aged Korean man. To wit: The music here is loud as shit and the crowd is goddamn pretentious. Every time I'm here it's always because I'm dragged there by my friends who claim, "All the girls come here, man! We gotta go where the girls are." To which I normally scream in response, "Fuck these ugly-ass bitches!" over the din of the crazy music that's invariably played here. Of course, with my unfortunate sense of timing, I've screamed this on multiple occasions in that rare span of quiet time in between songs for the entire bar to hear. As I head home and walk through the door and am greeted by the sight of my "I usually like to read a book while laying in bed on Friday nights." girl and the dog sleeping peacefully on the couch together, I'll grab a beer or make myself a strong drink. Both of them love their sleep, so I try to slide in quietly on the sectional between them. At some point, the Miss. will wake up, and her voice clouded by sleep, both plaintive and innocent, she'll ask me, "Did you have fun, sweetheart?" Not as much as I'm having now, babe. read more

Just went to the BBG. It was probably my 5th time going there over a number of years. Late night for drinks and pool. Cold beers, reasonably priced. They have some pretty great specials. Lots of Western students I'm guessing. $.75 pool. I've had the food. Solid, standard bar food, but decent, not greasy, not gourmet. Late night it definitely feels more clubby with electronic music playing (Skrillex, Marshmellow etc.) It's split in half. One half is all pool tables lit up more. The other half is very dark at night, cool fireplace, shuffle board tables, and booths. Great non-assuming local spot. Good for a casual night out with friends. read more

The bartenders and bouncers and I think the owner not only told me my service dog couldn't come in, but told me that "a woman like me" (disabled) "shouldn't be here." It was disgusting discrimination, and the cop I talked to said it's happened before here. read more

This bar is overrun by college students that have very little respect for anyone but themselves. Every time I have been here I have had an unpleasant experience. This is by no means the venue's fault but the clientele do drive away business that would otherwise enjoy the atmosphere of bellingham's only 'pool hall' I have never eaten here but it does sound like the food is good from other reviews so I may have to check it out during non-peak college student hours. read more

I came last night with my son who has just moved to Bellingham. I was FAMISHED! I had a 16 oz sirloin with a salad and fries and a club soda-NARF! It was good! My son had a steak salad and a neverending cup of coffee. He loved his! Our server was attentive! Steak was cooked just right! Fries were hot! Salad was tasty and the blue cheese dressing was very good! Total bill for all this food was $26! I will be back! read more

I love the updates that this bar has done over the years. The prices are always really reasonable and there are a lot of pool tables. Karaoke is always a good time and don't forget about progressive wells. Divey divey dive bar. This place is trying to cater to every single college student that resides in this town. They have pool, karaoke, dancing, cheap watered down drinks, tv's for sports, dart boards, and the usual crapy disgusting bathroom facilities. The place is dark and old and kinda smells mildewy from all the drinks spilled here and there. The pool tables are royally beat to hell and the dance floor is definitely a throw back from the 70's complete with mirrored walls. The food is typical fried soak up my drink type food and the drinks are just ok. They make a decent straight up margarita and they have all the cheepo beers in proliferation. The owner sits at the bar most nights and complains to whoever will listen and gets quite drunk on occaision himself. The bouncer is the nicest guy in the place and is more then happy to talk a bit while your shooting pool or just shooting the breeze outside smoking. When I was a student in Bellingham, Bellingham Bar and Grill was a great place to go with friends on the weekends. Their drinks are ridiculously cheap and well-made (wells were only $2.50 when I was last there a couple years ago). The bartenders are fun and friendly. There is also a lot of seating, which is perfect for a more low-key evening. The music can be on the loud side, but it is a bar, after all. If you're looking for a place to just go with friends and unwind, I recommend Bellingham Bar and Grill. read more

This is the go-to spot to grab cheap drinks before you go to the clubs or even a place to hang out, I can't tell you how many times I've been here. I even started off my 21 run here haha. Wells start off pretty cheap and the price increases a little bit over time. My favorite drinks are the Otter Pop and Brain Hemorrhage shot. It can be really crowded depending on the day of the week, but it will get busy on the weekends. If you want to grab a table, it's best to arrive early or else you'll be standing the whole time. The environment can be pretty loud from the music and people. Besides just drinking and hanging out, you can also play shuffle board and billiards! Majority of the crowd is college students so be aware of that if you decide to come here. Still a fun spot though! read more

HOT. WINGS. More like Hot Damn. I love them. Add on the mud pie and I'm sold. It's getting a little more "clubby" every time we stop by which isn't very often since we live in Seattle. This place has a pretty cool vibe. There are two things I love most about this place: shuffleboard and $2.50 wells on Saturday nights. The music selection always seems just right. We went for pool, a light dinner, and drinks. They'd recently re-felted and repaired all the pool tables, so they were in great condition. The staff was friendly and attentive. Food and drinks came quickly. We split a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. It was delicious! Very filling, too. The fries were unusually good as well. The cook said they don't cook them in any special oil, but I think he just doesn't want to give his secret away. For dessert, we tried the Mud Bay pie. If you like chocolate and ice cream, you definitely want to try this pie for dessert. Drinks are good and strong. The Long Island Iced Tea was very lemony, which I like. We were there from about 6 to 7:30pm and it wasn't super busy, so we were able to get drinks right away without waiting forever. read more

The food was subpar. Although Bellingham is right on the water the fish and chips were worse than the fish and chips in the Midwest. The beer was the worst selection in the area. I had a really bad experience here with the security personnel. We had called ahead of time to confirm that minors could come in for dinner and pool, and was told that our family could spend the evening together until 10 pm. Around 9:30 the bouncer got into the face of a 13 year old boy and accused him of trying to sneak into a bar. If you see a CHILD playing pool with their family, please talk to an adult, it is entirely inappropriate to yell at a 13 year old as if they're trying to get one past you. Obviously there was a miscommunication, as we were told minors were allowed until 10 pm, but it's 9 pm. Instead of apologizing for the misinformation, the bouncer was agressive and rude (all the while while being inches away from a CHILD's face). When we expressed our unhappiness with how the situation was handled, we weren't given an apology, just an angry bouncer who said we were risking their liquor license, which is their fault not ours. The bouncer at this establishment should be ashamed of himself, it is never okay to yell at a child, take it up with an adult and figure your rules out, that way when another family wants to spend an evening together this doesn't happen. We ate there last night before going to Mount Baker Theatre. We just went to the first place we saw. We didn't expect much judging from the outside sign. We went in and sat at the bar. We looked at the menu and it looked like your standard bar food. I asked the bar keep if he could reccomend anything and his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree as he led us to the back of the menu and discussed a few dishes. He reccomeded the chicken dish, but we wanted to try the bacon wrapped scallops because they were done by hand, and not from premade frozen. While waiting for the food we ordered Jager Bombs. He made them the right way with a shot in a shot glass and half a can of Red Bull in each glass. I was shocked. He said, "we do things the right way here, we don't cut corners." When the food came the bar keep said, "here is the deal guys, I was talking up the chicken so much that I put in a order for the chicken, so you can have dinner for free, or wait for the scallops, I'm really sorry." We told him not to worry. We would just eat the chicken. I mean, hey, it was a free dinner. I'm so glad that he made that mistake. The only chicken breast that I've ever eaten that was that well cooked, moist, and tasty was my grandma's recipe. That is the best chicken dish that I've ever eaten at any place, hands down, EVER. We were in search of filler bar food and ended up eating a five star meal. We will be back for the scallop dish another time for sure. After talking to the bar keep it turns out that he and his father own the joint and he told me that everything is made from scratch, which I could already tell. I couldn't have asked for anything better to start our night than the experience that Mo and his joint provided for us. After the show we even went back for one more Jager Bomb and Mo called us a cab at our request to take us back to our hotel. This place is perfect. Absolutely perfect. Well done! read more

After finding the only table in the back that was clean and didn't have a massive pile of dirty dishes we Sat there for fifteen minutes with nobody even acknowledging our presence. Finally someone came to take our drink order just as I was on the phone telling everyone to meet at bobs instead. Bellingham Bar and Grill, or what the young people call B.B.G.s, is great place to go if you want to squint your eyes and talk to your crush from your English 101 class that you hadn't seen since freshman year yet you both are 21 and this is the most courage you had to talk to her because of all the alcohol you consumed two minutes before. The bartenders know me well enough to point out that I haven't closed my tab, which I respond with a "my bad" and we all share a laugh! I've met what I thought were Bellingham's worst turn out to be Bellingham's best and what I thought were Bellingham's finest puke all over the bathroom. Western Wednesdays here are a blast! The drinks are cheap and there are lots of great people and good music.

Looks and sounds like a pool hall dive -- which it becomes after about 8:30 every night -- but don't be misled: The food here is downright EXCELLENT and dinner here is very pleasant before the night crowd arrives. The hamburgers are tops in Bellingham. They are so big (huge) that I always end up having to use a knife and fork. They come with the very best, juicy meat and a wide variety of toppings. The fries are also the best in town. Want a more traditional dinner? The steaks are also excellent, as are the fish plates, and the chowder is heavenly. We hear that the desserts are also very good, but we never get that far! Service is always super friendly and attentive, but can get a bit backed up on very busy evenings. Also, not to be overlooked is the full bar, with a good selection of drafts and wines, and barkeeps who do an excellent job. Prices are quite reasonable -- and even better if you use the coupon that appears most weeks on the back page of the Wednesday Bellingham Herald. BB&G is one of our very favorite places to eat... we have been there dozens of times and it never fails to please! read more

Great Bar and Restaurant with a slightly upscale setting. Nice (new) flat screens all around. Generous portions on all desserts. Happy hour specials are about as good as any other bar except you can add fries for a dollar and it goes to 7pm. BB&G also welcomes all out of state I.D.'s as long as they are not fakes made in China, they crack hard on fakes. One more thing, they Proudly serve red bull and not crappy energy drinks. read more
