I am deeply upset and dissatisfied with the service provided by Belltowne Veterinary Center. It took an inordinate two months to schedule an appointment for my suffering dog, a wait that seemed like a lifetime due to the agony he was in. Despite the lengthy wait, the staff showed a striking lack of compassion and interest when we finally did get our appointment. Their demeanor was apathetic and they exhibited an unprofessional attitude that made our difficult situation even more distressing. The communication from the center was disappointingly disjointed and poorly handled. They promised to send me a link to purchase the required pain medication online, but this did not arrive until a full day later, creating unnecessary anxiety and inconvenience. Furthermore, the prescription was not even listed in my account, leading to further confusion and time wasted on multiple phone calls. The handling of the prescription was completely disorganized. I was told to choose any 100 mg, 30 count carprofen, only to discover they were all out of stock. When I selected a 60 count option instead, my purchase was denied due to it not being the 30 count. Moreover, the staff's response to my desperate plea for help to get the medication was both disheartening and frustrating. When I drove the 45-minute distance to pick up the medication, hoping it would be ready, I was met with an indifferent and unaccommodating attitude. They made me feel as if I was an inconvenience, despite my dog's obvious distress. To make matters worse, they have now refused to release the prescription until my dog is tested again, which means I cannot even transfer the prescription to another vet. This whole process has been extremely frustrating, and the lack of compassion shown towards a suffering pet and their distressed owner is simply unacceptable. It's a real shame that Belltowne is the only veterinary center accepting new dogs in the Mason County area, but given my experiences, I'd rather endure the long drive to Seattle than subject my dog to such poor service again. Overall, I am beyond disappointed with Belltowne Veterinary Center. Their unprofessional conduct, lack of organization, and scant compassion for animals in need, leaves a lot to be desired. I will certainly not be using their services in the future and strongly urge other pet owners to consider other options. read more

We live in Seattle, but wanted to put our dog down somewhere closer to family property near Belfair where we planned to bury him. We found BVC online, but were a little nervous as a result of the only other review which sounded like a similar situation. Our dog had not been a patient there, but was 16 years old and very sick. Necessity mandated going with BVC as we didn't have another option on the Saturday that we needed to do this. This was, hands down, one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. My wife and I took Briggs in after a long walk and Belltowne Veterinary Center was an absolute Godsend (and I mean that in the literal sense). The staff was thoughtful and professional and were unbelievably kind/ compassionate to us. The tech (who was great) explained the process to us and then was able to find his vein on the first attempt without any apparent discomfort. The vet (who looked really young, and initially made us, unfairly, a little nervous) came in and, again, talked us through what would happen. They gave us all the time we needed to say our good-byes and allowed us to sit with Briggs as they put him to sleep. They were professional, thoughtful, gracious and showed us (all 3 of us) the kind of respect that the situation warranted. I know people have different experiences and I have no way of knowing whether Jane's or ours is more typical of BVC, but I can without hesitation tell you that someday we'll have to put our other pup down (hopefully, a long time from today) and we will return to BVC. We did have to wait awhile once we were in the room, but I really think that was more about them giving us the time to be alone with Briggs. I got the sense we could have asked them to "pull the band-aid" more quickly had that been our desire, but we wouldn't have changed a thing. As we came out there was a new woman at the desk that was a little "colder" than the previous one had been, but whatever- could have been a bad day for her, or maybe she's just a little bit that way- not my concern. Sounds like some folks have had a hard time with BVC, but my wife and I are grateful for them. They made our last second with my dearest pal everything it needed to be and I'm more grateful than they can know. Talk about a job I don't want. Thanks BVC. read more

I am extremely happy with ALL of the people at Belletown Vet. The office crew and technicians all are hardworking, and they are nice... The vets are knowledgeable, compassionate and they really care They are very nice. unlike any other vet center in the area except maybe one)... This center does not present you with a computer generated high estimates and low estimates for services, they have high ethical standards and practices and they 'listen' to me... They have taken the time to get to know me, and they know my abilities and they engage me in the care of my animals. If I ask, they will teach me... I have absolutely no complaints with their services... I can't say that about any other vet center in the area... I have 5 dogs, 3 cats and there is no other vet practice in Kitsap or Mason County that I will go to ever again, including any of the so called 'emergency trauma centers'. I'll drive to Tacoma or Olympia before I go to any in Kitsap or Mason county. The vets in this area all are greedy and the only thing they care about is the almighty dollar. They suck... All they want to do is as many unnecessary procedures as they can in order to bring in the most money... Recently, on a emergency visit to The emergency trauma center in Poulsbo, I took a 4 year old male cat who was having bladder distress and I rejected their high and low 'estimate of nearly 3,000 dollars... and I asked for minimal treatment that would get us through the night until I could get my vet (Dr. Aaron or Dr. Nanc). They had the nerve to asked me if I wanted a 'estimate' for euthanasia, if I couldn't afford their treatment plan... OH, and the owner of that establishment later told me that it was perfectly acceptable practice to put an animal down when you couldn't afford treatment. I have that in writing... Needless to say, I am banned from ever going to that place again. Oh, I do have one complaint... they need to hire a avian specialist. Yea... I totally agree with Mary H on her very accurate assessment of Dr. Nancy Isbell and the rest of the staff of Belltowne Veterinary Center. I live in Port Orchard where there are three veterinary hospitals and yet I choose to take my two dogs and one cat out to Belfair to the Belltowne clinic. The reason is simple. I know that Dr. Isbell is one of the finest vets I have ever known, and that she will do everything in her power to care for my pets or recommend a specialest if she feels they would have more expertise. She is very intelligent, knowledgable and talented in both western and eastern medical techniques. She has hired two other doctors in her clinic who also are intelligent and talented. I know the care my pets receive will be exceptional because the entire staff is very knowledgable and caring. This is truly a clinic where they not only say but practice caring for other people's pets as if they are their own. To jane l: I am very sorry about the loss of your beloved pet. I too have lost several pets through euthanasia and have felt the grief and the loss very deeply. I have found Dr. Isbell to be compassionate, caring, and of great comfort when this time has arisen. I am thankful she cares enough for all animals to take this horrible part of her job seriously and as a way to ease a critter out of their pain and suffering. I am also very glad she uses her expertise to help the owner know when the time is right. Her staff also does not take this responsibility lightly so there must be more to your story or perhaps another side. I can feel you are very upset, but please realize there are many of us who have had only positive experiences with the doctors and staff of Belltowne Veterinary Center. I for one trust all of the staff at Belltowne and have total faith that they will provide my animals with the very best care available. I just want to say that we have been with Belltowne for years now and followed Dr. Nancy from Woodside in Port Orchard. We have had to put down a few animals while with Belltowne and they have been nothing but patient, understanding and caring. I'm not sure which Receptionist you dealt with, but that has not been our experience at all! The entire staff that we have dealt with have been the best to us and our pet children. We just had to put our cat down in October and it was the most difficult decision we have ever made. Dr. Aaron was her doc and he was kind and caring. He took the time to call us and let us know beforehand that he understood our decision and that he supported the choice. A vet is in the business to help and save animals I know, but this clinic also has the great ability to understand when a pet owner has to make that most awful decision to just let go. That is why we followed Dr. Nancy from Woodside - she has always afforded us that respect and provided us with all the knowledge we needed to make sound decisions as pet owners. My 9 yr old mini doxie was in terrible pain with neck trauma. I took her to my regular vet who put her on all kinds of different medications but nothing was helping her pain. They advised a doggie nureologist...$4000 or $5000 surgery with no guarantees that it would work on her. He then recommended Dr. Izbell for accunpuncture. I was skeptical but remained open minded, I had to get my dog better. Dr Izbell and her entire staff are great and appreciated very much. After the first visit Pooper, my killer mini doxie was better, still not perfect but so much better. The difference was near miraculous. Each subsequent visit was a major improvement. We've weened her off all the medications from my regular vet and continued with Dr. Izbell on a steady basis and Pooper is doing great. I am convinced and sold this was definately the way to go and will recommend Dr. Izbell and her clinic to anyone and everyone. I already have a co-worker going too. I have had an outstanding experience with Dr Isbell and the staff at this clinic. On the very first visit, they did the most comprehensive exam of my very nervous lab that we have ever had. We came in due to a subtle limp he has had off and on for a long time. Dr Isbell asked lots of thorough questions, actually listened to my answers, and zeroed in on the issue that another vet diagnosed as a generaized soft tissue injury. She gave me various treatment options and sought my input for my nervous dog. I was aware that the clinic had a reputation for being "expensive", so was fully prepared for a huge hit. When I got the bill I was shocked at how reasonable this initial visit was. Subsequent visits for treatment with cutting edge technology and a blend of western and chinese medicine have continued to be thorough and reasonably priced. And more importantly, this limp and some other underlying issues are actually receiving therapeutic treatment. We will be transitioning all our dogs to her care over time. read more

I am truly stunned to find such a review as this about Belltowne Vet. I've known Dr. Nancy Isbell for nearly 15 years, half of that with my dogs in her care, and I have NEVER heard a bad word said against her or her staff. She, the other two doctors, and the staff at Belltowne are professional, able, compassionate, responsive, and caring. 22 months ago I lost the most important dog in my life. I can proudly say that Dr. Nancy's acupuncture treatments the last three years of her life kept her off pain meds and gave her the quality of life I wanted to give this most beloved of animals. Although we sympathize with the other reviewer, our experience was different. Our 15 year old dog, Abby, was recently put down at Belltowne Veterinary Center. They, especially Dr. Shawn, were very compassionate with us and allowed us as much time as we wanted for our dog's last moments. We never felt rushed, nor did we ever feel that they were questioning our decision. Afterwards, we left town for a week and when we returned home, we had a sympathy card waiting for us from Belltowne. All the staff and the doctor took time to write encouraging words to us and signed it. It was not a pre-printed card. We would not hesitate to use their services for any future pets we might have. I felt obligated to write this review, especially after reading the negative one from the gal in WI. That review is no way a reflection of this business or its staff. I took it upon myself to look at her other 12 reviews and found that 11 of the 13 reviews were negative reviews, That is an 85% negative and only 15% positive. I have been taking my pets to Dr, Isbell for years(even before Belltowne was in existence). She and all the associates are second to none. They are all very caring and professional. A "dog knowledgeable" friend of mine referred Dr. Nancy for my standard poodle when the vet in our town seemed unsure of a diagnosis and treatment. I was very impressed. Dr. Nancy did a thorough examination, reviewed several treatment options - we settled on Chinese herbs and an eye medication. Symptoms cleared up in about three weeks, it's been eight months since our appointment. Dr. Nancy provides thoughtful care and extensive knowledge and expertise of both conventional and alternative methodologies. Our return check ups have been very informative. I highly recommend her. Recently, we took our beloved pet and long time friend to Belltowne Veterinary Center. We found out she had sustained a serious injury we were unaware of. Due to complications, our friend had to be put down. This incident was a terrible blow to our family. The Doctors and the staff were extremely professional and compassionate in our time of need. The staff even stayed late to accomadate our family. Doctor Aaron went above and beyond in helping me and my family with our loss. After our dog had a seizure and refused to eat or move, we were sure we were going to lose her, and just a month before Christmas. We brought her in, and Dr. Aaron immediately gave us all the feeling we brought her to the right place. After a few days working on her, they return our sick girl to us, better than what she was before she was sick. Although her condition won in the end, Belltowne Veterinary Center gave us 5 more happy months with her, and a last Christmas. I've since moved to another country, and I've yet to find a vet that I love as much as I do Belltowne. I talk about them all the time here. read more

We love everyone here at Belltown. We were having an extremely difficult time discerning what was wrong with our dog. We jumped around to two or three different vets before we came to Belltown, where Dr. Isbel palpated our family dog and informed us she had cancer. We thought she had approximately 3-8 months to live. Knowing it was such a difficult time for us, they were all very sympathetic and proposed to us what our options were. They use herbal medicine there and we have been using it steadily since the news. She is still with us, going strong and keeping weight on, six months in!! Love Belltown. read more

Belltowne Veterinary Center has been wonderful for my animals. In fact, my Golden Retriever lived for two more years because Dr. Nancy Isbell found a cancerous tumor during his first exam, and provided herbal and acupuncture support for him during his chemo treatment. He lived to be 14 1/2!! The front office staff is very friendly and helpful, and the vet techs are very compassionate. I appreciate the option to have eastern as well as western medicine options. I've been more then happy with the care my animals have received at Belltowne. I've been a client there for about three years and never had an issue. Dr. Isbell and Dr. Silverberg are both great doctors but I will say I prefer to see Dr. Thomas. He's very enthusiastic about his job and I genuinely believe he cares for his patients. I've also been very happy with the support staff. They have been more then kind to me and have always answered my questions no matter how stupid they were. Highly recommend this clinic :) read more

I highly recommend BVC. I have been using them as a vet for about 5 years (they were A Country Vet) I have 3 dogs. Dr. Nancy Isbell saved my black lab from blood clots in his stomach. She went the extra mile to remove the clots. I don't think there are many vets that could have, or even would have worked that hard to massage them out. The Vet Techs are very knowledgeable and helpful, the equipment is up to date and the waiting room and rooms are very comfortable and clean. Their rates are very competitive. read more

When our 10 yr. old Lab was weak and losing his fur he was misdiagnosed by another vet as having flea problems. The steroids he was given weren't working and the vet wanted to up the dose. Belltowne vet clinic was recommended to me by a friend. There my dog was diagnosed with food allergies. I was advised to change his diet. I had thought I would lose my good dog, he had been so ill, but I got my dog back, thanks to Belltowne Veterinary Clinic. read more
