I have a huge complaint.... they are all about you when you want to join the school but when it comes to payment time they are no help at all. They never respond to your emails and when they do write you emails they send it about the wrong person. Most of these kids are out of high school they have no idea about student aid or loans and when the students ask for help that school or there financial person doesn't even help does not call back or anything. all they state is you better have payment or not come. I don't even know where to start. Reading through some of these 1 star comments from past students or people who have visited this campus is spot on! I wasn't even going to leave a review right now but I feel like it needs to be said. [I am using an alias account to protect my identity] I first want to say that the educators here are truly amazing. The owner of Bellus should feel lucky to have them. They go out of their way to teach and educate their students and do it with a smile on their face everyday. That is the ONLY positive thing I will say about this school. This school visually is a joke! I don't know how we can be taught about sanitation or about astetics when this school is beyond dirty and disgusting. Some of these doors that we need to open to bring clients through look so dirty as if they have never been wiped down with a grey film of residue. Bringing in clients is so embarrassing! The sheets & face towels this school uses has holes & black stains that won't come off even if we wash them. We use these not only on ourselves to practice but also on actual paying clients. This is not okay! For months now this is what we as students have been dealing with. Who knows when they were replaced; if ever. The bathrooms in the main building are just plain out gross. With toliet brushes that have probably been there since the school opened years ago! If you really pay attention to the stuff in the classrooms when someone you know brings you in as a demo for a student or if you are a paying client you will notice so much. Just open your eyes and look! There are so many items that need to be replaced because of the filth on them. Excess water buildup on things. Dust build up. Dirt buildup. EVERYWHERE! The response to some of these reviews saying that the school is going under renovation....that is a LIE! There is none or at least there hasn't been since I've been a student here. Not even a hint of a renovation coming. You get paid thousands and can't try to give this place a facelift? The school also does stuff out of protocols and yet expect students to not be a minute late. There has been things practiced at this school that are illegal but yet if you arent in school by 9:01 you have to wait till 10:30 to clock in. When there are times we stay sitting around for almost half our day having down time. We can leave when ever we want but can't clock in a minute past 9. How is there any logic to that? In all honesty this school should only be from 9am-12pm because the most we do anything in a day is 3 hours; the other 3 is down time. What is down time you may ask? Down time is when there is nothing to do so you are reading your textbook and talking to your classmates [which you can do at home]. How is my time less valuable then yours? We have families. Some of us work 2 jobs. Some of us have kids we are leaving at home to be here so if we can't waist your time why are you wasting ours? Machines are always breaking down. They don't have enough equipment for each student to perform a facial without having to wait till someone else is done sometimes. There is not proper seating for all the students in one classroom. Most times we are crammed or using the beds we use for facials as desk. This school needs a renovation and a REAL one. Not the kind that the director responses with on here to make it seem like the school is. Do it. Be about it! Practice what you teach and preach! We are being taught sanitation, the importance of astetics, the atmosphere.... Well how are really suppose to learn if the environment around us doesn't even make us excited to come to school? There are so many students who signed up for the esthetician 103 program, which is the 900 hour course, who have either switched to the 600 course or wish they had because of this school! Not because of the educators, but because of how this school looks and runs! How do you want us to have PMA [postive mental attitude] when the environment we have to go to everyday to learn is filthy, small with not enough seating, broken equipment, bedding and towels with holes/stains, and everything being outdated the way it is? You want to produce outstanding estechicans and tell us how things need to be done out in the real world then show it where we are suppose to be experiencing first; Which is at school! There are so many students who are dying to leave because of how our days are ran here and the quality of this school. We shouldn't have to feel this way when this is the 1st step towards our career. It isn't fair to the students and you should be ashamed of yourself for thinking that it is okay to run a school this way. Take some of that money you are receiving from each and every student and fix this school up! Give us an education we are paying for. An education and experience we deserve! read more

My boyfriend and I went to Bellus Academy for facials and it was such a relaxing and comfortable experience from the time we walked in. We had great customer service from Christabel and the front desk. She was very nice and provided great assistance from the check-in to check-out process. We were greeted quickly by Raven (our "BestiEsti") who had us laughing from the very start which made us very comfortable. During the facials she was funny while educating us on proper skincare during each step of the process as it pertained to to each of our facials. I'll only address my experience for the school based on the campus I've attended which is the El Cajon campus. I'll start by saying that if you can avoid coming to this school, please do so, and seek a different campus preferably the Poway campus since is the only campus that seems to run like an efficient education system is supposed to. If I could give this school no stars, I promise you I would. I've never been in an educational setting where the administration setting that exhibits the lack of professionalism that Bellus Academy El Cajon demonstrates. I'll start with the administration of the El Cajon campus, by far the worst from the Director Khris to the lead educator Denise, to Dora. If you do decide to come to this school and have an issue that needs to be addressed, don't speak to Khris, the director, because she thinks that information that doesn't concern other educators should be shared with them. Just send your concerns directly to HR. There's no confidentiality. An email was sent to the director Khris Poole, and she felt that it was appropriate to share that email with Dora, one of the educators to whom the email was not addressed to and had no business reading the email. How can a student feel comfortable sharing any concerns if this is the action the director takes? Denise lets day students do whatever they want. The day girls sit around and don't help with chores. So forget about making suggestions to make the school more proficient, nothing is going to change because Denise's response to everything is that she is the lead educator and that decisions are made through her because apparently, she owns a percentage of the school. Dora is a control freak who enjoys undermining other educators when they are not around. Not only does she bash every other educator's teaching techniques, but she also tries to make the educators who have more experience than she seem incompetent! Moreover, she bashes educators and encourages students to speak negatively of other educators while she sits there and leads them on. Dora has proven that she can't manage both seniors and freshman's yet Khris continues to insist that she can. Dora takes the whole time you're there to teach freshman, which means that if you're a senior, you're losing out on valuable education time because all you're doing is sitting around since there's only one to teach. You're going to school to sit around for five hours. It is evident that the Dora cannot manage the number of students she has. Who wants to pay between $10k and $15k to sit around for five hours and not receive any education? Dora doesn't know of any advance treatments to teach you as a senior. Not only does her controlling issues hinder the student's ability to learn, but it has also almost created a hostile learning environment where the students are being deprived of an education. None of the new educators or teacher's assistants are good enough for Dora. Regardless of whether the new teacher or assistant has more years of experience than Dora. It's almost as if she pretends to be the gatekeeper for everything, students, instructors, etc.. as the gatekeeper Dora undermines the abilities of students and undermines the experience the teachers sent to support possess. Is almost as if there's a power struggle/control issue to where you as the student are caught in the middle at a disadvantage... Just remember you're paying for this "education." so what you'll be paying for are Dora bashing sections. So as previously stated if you are looking to attend a school where you will be learning and not in a hostile environment, seek another school or go to the Poway campus where you'll enjoy your time learning. read more

I went to inquire about the esthetician school. I had an appointment and arrived a few minutes early. The person sitting at the front desk was RUDE! The cosmo students must've been going on a break and they were all rude and pushed past us (nobody said excuse me). Back to the front desk-- the young lady made NO eye contact. Handed us the forms and told us to have a seat. It smelled horrible inside. The entire vibe was just completely OFF. We did not get the warm and welcoming feeling that we were hoping to get. The advisor was nice.. the appointment seemed super rushed. We did a tour..the entire building including the new space or building seems like it needs a serious renovation. Everything seems outdated and dirty. Like I feel like everything needs to be bleached and wiped down then replaced. I had my mind set on signing up at Bellus but after my appointment I went 10 minutes away to California Hair Design Academy and fell in LOVE! Super clean and super modern. The staff was very friendly. I talked to a few cosmo students and they made us feel very welcomed. We are now signed up & excited to start the esthetician program at CA Hair Design Academy. read more

UPDATE::: This is my 2nd enrollment in Bellus Academy. First I attended the poway location now I am at the El Cajon location. I was skeptical at first because of the location of this place but I am so glad I am here. Nothing beats the esthetician teachers here. Mrs.Liz, Mrs.Tina, & especially Mrs.Denice. Mrs.Denice is always so ready and willing to help you and she has over 25 years of experience in this field. She's a great mentor and Bellus Academy El Cajon is lucky to have her. Highly recommend the Esthetician-103 program. I'm updating my review to let everyone know that if you're thinking of signing up for the Esti course do the basic one & not the 102 or 103. Let me explain myself on why I say this...if you do the makeup course it's $5,000 more for one month of makeup. Mind you, your kit is NOT worth $5,000. & 2nd the makeup teacher is so rude. She talks to you like you are beneath her & sorry but she's no Mario, Jacklyn Hill, or James Charles. Even these people are more willing to teach you through YouTube than this teacher. If you are thinking of taking the eyelash course, I love the teacher and she's amazing but our kits are not worth 5,000!!! You can get your license then take the lash courses (classic,hybrid,volume & mega volume) for cheaper. I came in with a poorly done at home color and was hoping to get the redness out and start the process back to my natural blonde color.
